[00:01:44] Unknown:
Good evening.
[00:01:45] Unknown:
How are you doing?
[00:01:47] Unknown:
I'm hanging in there. It's been
[00:01:50] Unknown:
a very long week. How are you?
[00:01:53] Unknown:
Yeah. I'm bouncing. Bouncing. Bouncing? Bouncing off the walls, I am. Really? Yeah. Yeah. My energy is just through the roof. So I think, well, you're just gonna say any particular reason?
[00:02:11] Unknown:
Yes.
[00:02:13] Unknown:
On Friday night, I had a chat with our dear mutual friend, Chan Shah. Oh, bless Bless him. I know. And he's going to be a guest on the Shelley Tasker Show on Wednesday. So he wanted to run things over and have a chat. Anyway, it turned out into one of those 2 and a half hour calls, and I ended up having a
[00:02:35] Unknown:
a life coaching. I've been on the phone for, like, 7 hours 20 minutes
[00:02:41] Unknown:
straight. I know. I know. I could have stayed on for longer, but I was like, whoo. So we did a life coaching session and a work coaching session. And, Yeah. Wow. Really wow. He knows his stuff and chatting to the right people. Yeah. Yeah. So I'm bouncing from that. Then I had a bit of a comedown yesterday because I was all excited about my new ventures. And, my daughter was a bit of a Mickey taker, and she said a few things, and I think because I'm been a bit, emotional this week, I was very tearful yesterday and blew my bubble, basically.
Oh, no. I know. I know. It's alright. We're friends again now. Okay. It took until about 10 o'clock last night, when I was you know that, Facebook group that we're on that's got a bad title and it's full of very bad jokes and things like that?
[00:03:35] Unknown:
Yeah.
[00:03:36] Unknown:
Well, it took browsing through that last night about 10 o'clock to start laughing, and, I was able to forgive her then.
[00:03:43] Unknown:
So all all is harmonious
[00:03:46] Unknown:
again. All is harmonious again. Yes. And they've all been around for tea tonight, and we've just laughed. We've laughed a lot mainly at that Facebook page and the comments. Wow. And I feel a bit guilty for that because they're very bad jokes, and most people would be very offended. But I don't know why. I've got a dark sense of humor.
[00:04:10] Unknown:
I I'll be honest. You know, some of the things that I read on there do take my breath away. And, you know, I'm I'm pretty much well versed or at least I thought I was in most things until I come on to that site, and I'm like, oh, heavens above.
[00:04:32] Unknown:
I know it's shocking. Not for the lighthearted. I mean, even the name of the group gives it away, really, that, it's for bad mouthed people. So,
[00:04:42] Unknown:
Wow. You know? I mean, do you know what I'm surprised at, though? It's an equal balance of men and women saying things.
[00:04:52] Unknown:
Yeah. Yeah. I know. I know. I have pondered. Shall I take a photograph of me and post it on there and want to get roasted? And I'm like, no way. Not how I'm feeling at the moment. They'll just rip me apart. But
[00:05:08] Unknown:
Oh my god. Yeah. A mutual friend of ours that's also on there, a female had posted a picture of herself, and the reply that they gave, it it just
[00:05:23] Unknown:
You were surprised at him, I bet, wasn't you? Because I was. I said, I know which one you're talking about. Yeah. And I was like
[00:05:30] Unknown:
It was
[00:05:31] Unknown:
like I said, it had taken my breath away momentarily. Some of the things he has remarked on, but this one, the the reply he gave was, oh, it was Celtic counts. And I just thought, oh my gosh. Remind me never to post any normal pictures on on Facebook or Instagram or anything because god only knows what goes through their minds.
[00:06:02] Unknown:
I know. Some of the stuff is quite risque, I think. I wouldn't be putting it up there. It's very, very below the belt, isn't it?
[00:06:10] Unknown:
Yeah. But it's like like you said, it's almost like if you put yourself out there, you're gonna be ripped apart because it's almost fair game. Yeah. You put yourself on there, and you just know what's gonna happen. You just know it.
[00:06:27] Unknown:
People are wicked, aren't they? I find it hilarious. But it's all in good banter, isn't it? No one's, like, really offended, and they're like, come on. Give me more. And I think, oh, but, no, it's one of those pages you just have to read through for the comments, and I literally laugh out loud. But it's a wicked guilty laugh that I bet everybody listening now is like, what page? What page? Yeah. I'm not quite sure if I was,
[00:06:52] Unknown:
face to face with somebody that I would take it so lightheartedly.
[00:06:58] Unknown:
Well, I was a bit unsure of, my son's girlfriend, actually. And Maddie said after, she said, I'm not sure if, she enjoyed your dark side of humor. Think she does. I said, well, if she's with Wesley, that's what Wesley's sense of humor is like anyway. So Well, you know, it's
[00:07:13] Unknown:
you're either part of the family or you're not. So We like a bad laugh. Yeah. We like banter. Good. What else have you been up to do this week?
[00:07:23] Unknown:
Do you know? What have I been up to? I've been trying to do my Christmas advert for work. I've been looking after Phoebe. Oh, I went for that procedure where I had to drink that funny drink and have an x-ray. Okay. Yeah. I've just worked worked, and I don't know where the week has gone. The days are just flying, aren't they?
[00:07:45] Unknown:
It's horrible. You know? I don't know whether it's an age thing or, you know, the world is speeding up. I have no idea. But I always say this. Every time you get to the end of April, in a blink of an eye, it's Christmas. And this year seems to have gone really quick, particularly quick, more so than other years. Yeah. I something like maybe 9, 10 weeks from Christmas, that's nothing.
[00:08:16] Unknown:
I know. The weeks are just flying by. And it is beautiful at the moment. I mean, even all of that rain today, when you're lying in bed, and I know you weren't you were at work, but I love listening to the rain. Oh, bless you. Are you so are are you on the stairs or you're in the broom cupboard?
[00:08:33] Unknown:
I'm actually in a room. Oh, again. Again. Wow. Jo has gone up in her job. I'm having to watch cameras to keep my beady eye on the little darlings. So yes. Yes, interesting times ahead now that, you know, they're they're gathering in numbers, and I feel slightly outnumbered when I have to go and mingle amongst them, but, you know, I like a challenge.
[00:09:01] Unknown:
I know you do. That's how you thrive, isn't it?
[00:09:05] Unknown:
Yes. Yeah. I it's not particularly healthy. I wish I wasn't like it, but, you know, you know my side. If somebody says no to me, I'm like, that's great. Thank you very much. I'm proven wrong. You know? It just drives me on to get what I want, basically,
[00:09:22] Unknown:
which sounds awful. No. No. I I wish I was more that way inclined. It's, like, funny because because when I went to Maddie's yesterday and I was, like, bouncing, saying all this stuff, and I left there, and I was a bit like, oh, she's really burst my bubble. And then I came home, and I had a bit of a cry, and I went to bed for a couple of hours. And I was like, come on, Shelley. Pick yourself up. Pick yourself up. You're the one who was telling people. You know? But some things happen now. You can't help how you feel sometimes, can you? And I was all prepared to go and do a TikTok video in my studio and stuff. It didn't get done. Anyway, I've done it today because I'm What gonna do? What were you gonna do? Well, I'm just trying to build my business, and it's it's really funny because, you know, I've been a professional photographer now for 23 years, and I had a studio on the high street for about 8 years. And then when Piran was born, obviously, my work started slowing down. I was at a baby, and then other photographers came on the scene. And I just think at the moment, it's really hard, the competition out there, especially when people are giving away things for next to nothing.
Yeah. So after our conversation with Chan, I mean and all last week, I was, like, posting in groups, photography groups and stuff. You know, I've got that beautiful studio out there, but no customers. Okay. So I put out my Christmas advert because somebody that I run alongside with, and I kind of base myself on her prices and recognition, even her Christmas studio shoots are, ridiculously cheap this year. So I thought, wow. It must be bad. I better go just a little bit above that. So I did it, and I didn't get one booking within 24 hours, which is fine anyway, but it made me rethink. And I thought, do you know what? I'm not going out to do that job job for £20, £25 for 20 minutes with a photo.
I didn't do it that cheap when I first started out 20 years ago. No. You know? And I think what, Chan really got out from me was he was like, you are queen bee and everything like that. You know? Oh, it was amazing. And he had me just, like, getting all these ideas together and did, like, a business, like, flowchart. We just chatted. And I was like, right. I'm gonna, create a TikTok channel, but I'm gonna do it, and I'm gonna be authentic as in follow me and watch my business grow. And it'll entice me every day to post something and to do something a bit more to build my business. You know? Yeah. Yeah. Because I was looking at paying someone. I've been looking into courses and things because I'm like, I just don't know what to do. I just needed someone to sit down for an hour and say, look.
Believe in yourself. Don't go for the low line and stuff like that. And, yeah, I feel really good about it. So, I I yeah. Well, I've done the TikTok video today. It's just a start, but every day, you know, is is a work in process. There's no easy way to set up a business. And I think the market is so competitive now because everybody's got phones and stuff like that and, you know, birthday shoots to see people buy their own backdrops off Amazon and just do them at home.
[00:12:31] Unknown:
Yeah. So it's the experience, isn't it? It's the experience of sort of going along for, you know, half a day, a day, whatever package is somebody's buying and having the experience of that photographer saying, okay. Great. Great.
[00:12:48] Unknown:
Just lift your chin up. Just down a bit. Just look out. Do you know what I mean? Yeah. Yeah. Knowing that you're gonna get the best shot. There is that, and it's reaching that clientele, isn't it? And they are out there. I think I'm very much aware that lots of people are struggling, but there are also lots of people out there that have got money. And for the, you know, for people like the like, say like Maddie said to me, like, oh, she would pay £25 for a shoot. It was my daughter. And I said, Maddie, I said, you're not the client I want, I'm afraid. I said, the problem is with you. I said, you've had free photographs your whole life from me and for your children, so you've never had to pay. I said, you don't bat an eyelid when you go and pay £50 a month for your eyelashes to be done. Yet when it comes to an experience and a permanent memory, you'll be like, oh, no. That's too expensive. So I said, you're not the customer I want.
So I'm gonna be a bit yeah. I don't I don't want those customers. I will do special offers and things as in then, but I'm here to run a business, not not worry about people and their finances. You know? That sounds a bit harsh.
[00:13:51] Unknown:
But You've gotta remember, you're providing the opportunity for them to have that experience and that treasured
[00:14:00] Unknown:
memory. Yeah. I'm not I've think, you know, 23 years, but I've got all these ideas an hour about running courses from the home, teaching photography. Right. Just loads. Loads. So I wanna get on with it, and I'd like to think, you know, when my job ends in March, like, if the home is empty by January, I could potentially get 2 months work paid at home doing nothing so I can really crack on with it. Yeah. But, yeah. So he got me in the right mind zone, but I was, you know, watching this lady, and she did a course that was, like, £400. And I was if in and amming because it's a bloody lot of money. And one of my friends said I paid £2,000, Shelly, to do a course, but she said I got Oh. Yeah. She said I got 10,000.
She said I got it back 10th old for what I learned. So, I mean, in all fairness, me and Chan were helping each other out with a few things and having a good chat, but that would have so been worth paying that £400 for. Do you know what I mean? When you're suddenly like, wow. So Yeah. It's interesting. Yeah. Guarantee.
[00:15:06] Unknown:
You know? I mean, okay. £400 is a lot easier to lose as opposed to 2,000, however much that other lady pays. But, you know, do do you feel that you need
[00:15:21] Unknown:
to know more things? Well, I just didn't know how to go about building a business. I'm not on the high street anymore. There's all these other photographers around doing mini shoots and things, and I actually narrowing it down, I do too much. I do too many things. I need to focus on one thing, and I'm gonna really work towards the birth photography and newborns and stuff like that. So, yeah. Yeah. I didn't know what to do, though. You know? It's like, what can I do to build this business? And I just couldn't figure out what book do you buy on marketing. So I just started messaging people, listen to a couple of podcasts, and I was really gonna spend that money.
But then Chan was like, right. Let's do it. And I'm like, okay. So
[00:16:05] Unknown:
because, you know, you've got that studio brand new, nice and clean and tidy. That's an enticement for somebody to take along their newborn baby or their young children.
[00:16:17] Unknown:
You know? Yeah. Well, I'm thinking potential, like, customers. If I wanna get into the birth photography, which is like the high end spectrum of it, the big earner, but you gotta remember that you'd be on call for, like, 2 weeks before the birth, 2 2 weeks after, like, within that month. You could only book one client for that, but that's your high end of the market. If you could get one of those a month, then brilliant. But if I can get some of these doulas that would like to come and run their antenatal classes in my studio, then I'd have all of these pregnant moms come in there for the classes. And, you know, there's so many ideas. And I was thinking, you know, the owner of the baby scan studio in Truro and things. Yeah. So I'm bouncing.
Bouncing. Do you sorry. Did you say you know her? I'm working with her husband. That's you do. That's what I mean. You're my link. Okay. But that's what I mean. We've all got links, haven't we? And there's all these hang on a minute. Well, there's all these different outlets. So Yeah. Yeah. Anyway, enough about me. Tell me about you because we're, like, done 17 minutes already. What do you want to know? Did I give you any homework last week?
[00:17:28] Unknown:
I think you did. You gave me, NMM, didn't you? You wanted to know Yes. Because I do like my jiggery pokery. I do like my supplements. And, honestly, I, you know, I I I I think I look younger.
[00:17:51] Unknown:
You look amazing.
[00:17:53] Unknown:
It's taken it. And it, you know, it is just the best thing ever. So n, n for November, m for Michael, n for November, n m n stands for, god. Now I've got to remember how to pronounce it. Nicotinamide mononucleotide.
[00:18:17] Unknown:
Oh, gosh. How do you memorize or even pronounce those words?
[00:18:22] Unknown:
Well, because I kind of think I'm a bit of an addict to anything that ends in nucleotide. You know, we've got our polynucleotides that we spoke about last week. So anything that's a nucleotide in my mind must be a good thing, so I try and memorize that word. But it's a natural, it's a natural compound found in in the body. In actual fact, in all living things, it's almost like smaller than sort of minerals that is, you know, naturally occurring in our bodies. But it is a precursor to something called NAD, and we need NND to make sure that the body functions the way that it should. You know? It functions if you imagine, you know, an elite athlete, you know, and their body, that that's what NND is sort of working towards getting your body to, you know, energy production.
It it it repairs DNA. It operates on a cellular level, so it it sends out the right signals. So I guess I guess for any listeners out there, they may remember a product called q10 coenzyme. Yeah. I heard of that. Yeah. Okay. So, you know, that that used to be the whole rage probably back in the early 2000. This is like that but on steroids. It is, like, just the best thing ever. So it it has several benefits. You know, I I, of course, I'm biased, so I will talk as if it does actually happen, but the effects would be different in everybody. It improves your insulin sensitivity, so, therefore, you can insulin sensitivity.
So therefore, you can regulate, insulin better. You're not gonna produce too much or too little of it. It can, protect and promote vascular health, and blood flow as well. It's is associated with preventing age associated weight gain, which is a big one when you get well, for women, when we get to a certain age, you know, you're like, I don't know why this spare tire is there because I'm not eating anymore, and I'm not lazy. So it sort of goes it goes a fair way to to to I can't say to get rid of that because I use something else to get rid of that, But it goes a fair way to monitoring and keeping it in check, if you will.
It extends your lifespan. It improves muscle endurance and strength. It gives you energy. It enhances your metabolism. So NMN is the precursor to the NAD. Okay? So we we have NND in our body, but we need the MNN to feed the NND to make the NND give us all of these great qualities. It also protects against Alzheimer's and dementia. So that's really good because nobody wants to be old, ugly, and doolally, do they? So How's that? I I take it by the bucketful. So you only have to take, one capsule a day, and they usually sort of come in a 1,000 milligram capsules. You can, you know, if you wanna kick start your sort of regime, you can take 2 capsules probably for 4 weeks, but then drop it down to just 1.
They're not particularly cheap, but, you know, if you wanna reverse aging, which it has proven to do in mice, then I'm willing to pay. So it quits a month for it.
[00:23:00] Unknown:
Oh, great. Great. And are you, are you taking, sales for this company?
[00:23:08] Unknown:
I guess. Again, I've got my Dyson cells. I've got my water tooth filter cells, and I've got this. If only I'd be a millionaire, wouldn't I? You would. I've got my water too. It's all installed.
[00:23:20] Unknown:
Have you? Have you? Right. They should have. Refer a friend, then I could have got you some cash.
[00:23:26] Unknown:
You could have done. I've got mine. I'm still waiting for mine to arrive. So tell me, have you have you got it installed? Was it easy? Is it, like, super duper?
[00:23:39] Unknown:
Well, do you know? I wouldn't really Darren was a bit annoyed with me because he said we didn't need it. He said we've been drinking tap water for all our life, and we've been fine. We don't have lead pipes and blah blah blah blah. And I said, yeah. But there's lots of things. And
[00:23:55] Unknown:
area in it and the microplastics.
[00:23:58] Unknown:
Exactly. Exactly. And all of the I can't remember the name, like little creatures and stuff. Yeah. Right. Yeah. Yeah. So he did install it. It did take him a couple of hours because he had to go and get a couple of bits, but that's just because we got dodgy sink bits under, but probably a couple of hours, but if people have got modern houses and stuff, I should imagine it's quite easy. But, well, yeah, it's all installed. Thanks to Joe. He made me spend that money. I couldn't use a joint account because Darren didn't want it. So I I cloned it. 3 payments.
[00:24:29] Unknown:
Yes. Yeah. Easy peasy. Absolutely easy peasy. I know. Well, I'm hoping when mine arrives, it's gonna be relatively easy to fit because it said it shouldn't take any longer than 10 minutes. Well, there you are. And you're in a modern place, aren't you? So I am in a modern well, I'm in a modern place, but the plot was actually a very old Victorian mansion. So I'm I'm kind of, like, in two minds whether they actually relay the water pipes to plastic or whether they left the lead ones there. But even I love it because you can just install it, and then if you move house, you just Just stick it with you. Yeah. Yeah. You know? I mean, I I just think that's an absolutely fantastic
[00:25:23] Unknown:
idea. I mean, so much so that Bear Grylls is now on board. I know. And what made me laugh was when I went to check out, it said, were you inspired by Bear Grylls? So I ticked yes.
[00:25:38] Unknown:
The listeners out there that maybe don't know who Bear Grylls is, he's a survival specialist. He's he he appears to be a great guy. I don't know him personally. I wish I did. He's easy on the eye. But, you know, he knows his stuff and he's got a great personality and he's traveled all over the world. And when I say survival, I mean survival. You know, this guy has killed snakes, skinned them, and then saved the skin, urinated it in the skin, and saved it for days where that's the only source of liquid he's had to drink. And, you know, he says, naturally, it doesn't take it doesn't taste great, but, hey, it keeps you alive. So, yeah, he's very good. He knows his stuff about water.
[00:26:28] Unknown:
I should say. And Patrick's just messaged me and said, what what are you talking about with water? He said your audience is sending me messages. That's right. So I've just put the Rumble link down. Yes. So, yeah. Yeah. So
[00:26:43] Unknown:
and and they do ship worldwide. Yes. For anybody listening outside of the UK, I can only give you the UK price. At the moment, they've got 40% off, and it's, retailing at a £129. And that's for the complete unit. You only have to replace the water filter once a year, and that is, I think, £99. So when you break that down day in, day out, it's like absolutely nothing. So yeah. Yeah. It's doable. It's doable. It's worth investing in because I think last time we spoke about it, you know, it it filters out 99.999% of bacteria and viruses, also parasites at that percentage, nanomicroplastics, fluorides.
It's just the best thing.
[00:27:50] Unknown:
Wow. What what is the name of it again? I know you've just said it about 5 times. It's water
[00:27:55] Unknown:
Water 2. So Just water and the number 2. And then number 2. Yeah. And, you know, please do if anybody buys it and anybody, you know, gets asked, was this a recommendation? Feel free to give my name. I'd like some royalties.
[00:28:14] Unknown:
And you deserve them. You deserve them. No doubt they've got sales from you. Oh, god bless them. God bless them. Lots of people should be getting sales from you. Perhaps you should be, like, writing to all these people and saying, I mentioned this, and perhaps they would give you, like, a free month's worth of something.
[00:28:29] Unknown:
It's worth it. They maybe I might join you on TikTok because I'm sure if you've had a look on there, there is a lot of influence on on there, and they they seem to get sent lots of goodies and lots of Yes. Do it. Do it. Everyone loves a freebie, don't they? Well, yes. Absolutely. I better start writing the list.
[00:28:54] Unknown:
And with And with that absolute Sorry. I'm good. Sorry. Say that again?
[00:29:00] Unknown:
I said I better start writing my list, my list of supplements, my list of, home goods. Oh, I've got a new mattress arriving as well from the Premier Inn.
[00:29:12] Unknown:
Oh, a new mat sorry. Another question. What was the supplements? It was n m d. No. No. So you're gonna have to put the link to water 2 and the supplements, under the rumble link. And, Patrick, I will forgive you for pestering. It's nice to know people are listening and asking.
[00:29:34] Unknown:
Yeah. So it's November, Mike, November, NMM. And they are a precursor to NND that we make ourselves. But the NND needs to have MNN to really boost it. So it can make us look 12 years old, which naturally everyone
[00:29:58] Unknown:
Maybe a bit older than 12. Anyway, Joe Okay. With that, we've gotta go. Where is half an hour gone? We're flying tonight. You're you're gonna have to save your mattress talk for next week. I will. And tell the mattress company that you will be advertising on women's hour. I will. I will advertise them as well. Do you know what? I just redo my house, can't I, with all this? You could do. You could do. Yeah. Alright. Anyway, my darling, lovely to speak to you, and we'll catch up in the week. Yep. Will do. Take care, my angel. Bye. Bye bye. Bye. Bye. She really is the woman that knows everything, isn't she? Everything.
Right. Our next guest. I don't know to how to, that we gotta hang up. Our next guest, Jackie Bodman. She was on, oh, about 3 or 4 weeks ago. So let's get Jackie on the line. Bear with me. Thank you. How are you? Yeah. I'm good. Thank you. Sorry about that. There's always a bit of a kerfuffle with software. Yeah. So this is Jackie Bodman, everybody, from, Campbell Community Church. And, Jackie, how do I, like, introduce you? I can't say whenever you're on this is the pastor's wife. Have you got, like, your own role within the church?
[00:34:52] Unknown:
I'm an evangelist. Sorry. You're going to call me that. I'm an evangelist, but, yeah, just I'm just Jackie, actually.
[00:34:59] Unknown:
You're just Jackie. Just Jackie from the church. That works at the church. Yeah. And we decided we need a bit of regular Jackie time. So
[00:35:08] Unknown:
Oh, that's nice.
[00:35:09] Unknown:
Oh, it is. It is. And, I wanted to say to you, actually, when I went to your toddler group at the church the other day with my granddaughter, I knit to the ladies. And you know, like, all the freebies you've got in your window, like sanitary towels, nappies, all of that stuff? Yes. And you've also got those little jars. A little jar that's full of hang on. I've got it right in front of me because I took one little jar of God. Big
[00:35:37] Unknown:
God's promises. God's promises.
[00:35:39] Unknown:
Yeah. The little jar of God's promises. I've got one.
[00:35:42] Unknown:
Yeah. There you go. There's one for every 2,000 months, and they have 31 in them, so they will always cover the month.
[00:35:50] Unknown:
What a lovely idea. And I was, like, thrilled. I thought, I hope it's okay to take one of these. And I'm, like Yeah. Took it upstairs, and I'm like, oh, look at this. Well, it's such a cute little gift. So thank you for that.
[00:36:03] Unknown:
That's alright. Yeah. That's right. We just want them as a little encouragement with people. You know, sometimes it's a difficult day and it does a bit tough and that you can just pull one out and it's a promise of something that, you know, he's one of his promises. Yes. That helps you remember, that he's he's got you and he's he's with you.
[00:36:21] Unknown:
Great stuff. Well, I've delved into mine a few times, and I'm like, oh, I just love it. I love it. So Oh, cool. Who's saving all these little jars for you? Are you regular got regular goers that go to Wetherspoons or something?
[00:36:33] Unknown:
So no. So I went and I I made them actually because I just thought, it's something that would you know, it's really nice. So I actually went and just got a load of jars from, Hobbycraft. And they're really cheap. We got lots and lots of them. They're really cheap. And I just you know, so many people have said to me that really spoke to me today or I just, you know, I just really needed something. So I just got a jar. I pulled it out and it really spoke to me. So thought, right, we'll just keep a constant stream of them going.
[00:37:00] Unknown:
Oh, no. It's lovely. It's lovely. So so how was church today?
[00:37:06] Unknown:
Yeah. Church was good today. So Tim and I that were leaving it today. Right. And then we did a little children's talk. So I did it well, actually, it was from a little boy that I spoke to, 2 days no. It'd be about 5 days ago now. And, he was talking to me and he was saying that, he haven't got any friends at school. And I said, so and I was thinking then, like, he was meaning really close friends. I said, I'm sure there's some people that you're offering. I said, because what do you do at playtime? And he said, I walk around the, the playground on my own. Oh, bless him. And my heart just broke for him. And thinking about the kids. We've all experienced that time when you've got nobody with you and you do really feel alone. And there's a scripture where God says, I will the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. And he promises that he'll never leave you. And and so I just did a little children's talk on that.
But, well, when you do feel alone, actually, you never are alone because he's there with you. And sometimes you just feel like there is nobody, but, actually, there always is somebody. So we had little hearts. They stuck on them. And we had scriptures all the way around the room to remind them that, you know, you look all around the room and you can see it all here saying those that I will never leave you and the lord your god is with you wherever you go. And you can see them all around the room. But when you're in the classroom, remember that they're still there. Even though you can't see them on the walls, they're still there. They're still with you.
[00:38:37] Unknown:
Lovely. So did you run the Sunday service for, like, Sunday school today?
[00:38:41] Unknown:
Well, we did we had the children all upstairs today. So we do it once a month, then we all have a meal together. So Tim dressed up as a Pharisee and, he did his preaching on a Pharisee because there's a story in the bible where, these so Pharisees are people that, really knew the bible, back to front. They knew all the rules. They knew all the laws. It was like the old, you know, the old testament. They knew everything but they didn't have soft hearts. They were just all about rule and order and they found this caught this woman in adultery. They didn't bring the man. They just brought the woman. Do you know what I mean? And they Yeah. Throw the woman at Jesus's feet and because they no. They didn't like Jesus because he was all about love. And, you know, they wanted him to keep up to the rules, and he was forgiving people and healing people and helping people.
And so they thought, right, we can catch an eye with this one because, you know, she's been caught caught in adultery. And, what the law says is she should be stoned. So they threw this woman at Jesus' feet and said, you know, so look, you know, the bible says she should be stoned. So what are you gonna do? Are you gonna stone her? And so Jesus stooped and wrote wrote in the ground and then he said, you without sin, cast the first stone. And all of them knew that they had sinned and gradually, they all started leaving because they'd all done stuff wrong. And in the end, there's just this woman at Jesus's feet and Jesus, and he sort of looked down on her and he says, where are you who are accusers? And she says, they've all gone. And he says, neither do I condemn you. Go and see no more. Just let her go.
Wow. And, so Tim preached on that dress as a Pharisee. So we did it as that I would have loved to have seen. So, yeah, it was it was quite funny. It made a lot of laughs, don't we? But, yeah, no. It was a lovely time, and then we all had to meal together, which is really nice. So And we'll just have a does everyone just bring a plate? Everyone just brings something. And we have a lovely family from Hong Kong. And they are so they're just amazing cooks. And they do we have this, like, amazing Chinese food, way better than any takeaway.
Wow. And, also, and we have, like because we've got all different nationalities in the church. So there's all sorts of food, all sorts of food you can imagine. But this lovely family, I literally had a phone call probably about 2 hours ago, and they phoned and said, look. We're cooking dinner. We're bringing you and Tim round a a dish. So I've got a lovely Chinese for tonight as well, and it's amazing food.
[00:41:14] Unknown:
Oh, lovely. Yeah. It's oh, it's beautiful food. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, we had Chinese last night, actually. It's the first time in a long time. Yeah. Oh, yeah. If it's too much, it doesn't taste the same, does it? If you do it regularly, we were just saying, like, back in lockdown, the highlight of the week was, like, Saturday morning because as all people did, order takeaway food for the evening, going on and Yeah. Trying to find someone and booking a time slot. Yeah. No. I do remember that. Yeah. I know. At all. So Yeah. How how did you manage as a church during lockdown then?
[00:41:47] Unknown:
We we carried on in that we worked with the, hospitals and the doctor surgeries.
[00:41:52] Unknown:
Right. So
[00:41:54] Unknown:
we, came up with a system because remember they they there was all sorts that they were, like, making, care packs for people at home that have got it, end of life packets. People who happen to have palliative care in their homes, weren't they? And then, obviously, people couldn't get out and get prescriptions and things like that. So, literally, we were like a prescription running service. So we would, you know, people at the hospital or doctors or even people could phone us and say they've got prescription at, you know, a certain, pharmacy, we would go and pick it up and take it to them.
And it got to the point I remember one time where I think it really showed, you know, what we did. We still got really good relationships actually with the doctors and the hospitals because of it. But one time, there was somebody that had got, they were, like, really I've got a bad diabetic issue. And the ambulance that had gone to them haven't got any insulin on the ambulance. And so they contacted us and said it was about 11 o'clock at night, and they said, could you possibly get some insulin? We get some orders. Remember, they used to be the port the, booths in hail, so until midnight? Yeah. And they said there's, there's a, description there. Can you go and pick it up and take it to, Carl and Downes?
So we had, like, a tag team. So somebody came from our house, went to Haile, picked it up, and then somebody else met them at our house. We handed it over to them, and they brought it to Carlin Downs. And, you know, and we would we would do that. We would do, you know we had our crumbs. We have, like, sort of, Troliskay and E following us and asking us to sort of stuff. And so we managed to do all that. So whilst we couldn't do church altogether, we were managed to do it that way, and we kept using Zoom services. And for people that couldn't understand the computer, we then recorded the services and sent them for those that haven't got any recording, you know, things. We sent them a written service, and we had to assist them where everybody got phones. Every week, people would get phones and nobody was left out.
And we would do shopping for people, people that couldn't, you know, that were, I you know, that was, isolating. We would, you know, they would phone into us and we were going to do the shopping and take it to the door and leave it there. And we were so busy over lockdown.
[00:44:21] Unknown:
Yeah. It sounds like it. Yeah. There was so much going on. But do we And then there was the Sorry. Sorry? No. Sorry. Carry on. Then
[00:44:29] Unknown:
there was the bit where you could leave, but you had to meet outside. I don't know if you remember that. Yeah. So we would have the service in the in the car park behind the church.
[00:44:37] Unknown:
Oh, okay.
[00:44:39] Unknown:
Yeah. The big bank. Well, there's a will, there's a way. Yeah. Yeah. We we managed it. You know, we managed it. But, yeah, it was very different for everybody, wasn't it? Yes. But it was lovely to see how everyone looked after everybody and, yeah. And so many people that we were now in contact with, you know. Like, there's a guy because of the work that we do, there's a guy that had moved down from Exeter to Cornwall and one of his nurses contacted us and said, can you get a hold of him? Because he's on his own. And this guy's now very much in the church and everything. But it was through our contact with the hospital that got us in contact with him. So Oh, lovely. Yeah. Lovely.
[00:45:24] Unknown:
It it was interesting times for sure. I know there was, there was a viral video that went on out on YouTube of 1 of the vicars saying he's not closing and stuff like that. Yeah. I I look at stuff now and I think that was only 4 years ago.
[00:45:40] Unknown:
Oh, it's impossible. Is it?
[00:45:43] Unknown:
It's crazy. Crazy. Yeah. Yeah.
[00:45:46] Unknown:
Yeah.
[00:45:47] Unknown:
Anyway, moving on, Jackie. Moving on because I know we we had a quick chat. Well, I left you a voice note, actually. I do voice notes all the time just because I find they're so much quicker, and I've always been able to say. And I know you said that, you know, we could make this a bit of a regular thing in and out and, you could do some inspiration and bible talk and stuff. Yeah. So where would you like to go? We've got 15 minutes.
[00:46:12] Unknown:
Is there, like, a particular story you would like to share? Doesn't have to be a bible story. Anything. Well, there is there is one, and it is a bible one. And I decided because it's women's hour, I thought it's supposed to be a really good one to share because not not a lot of people know it. And it was a woman that was really bleeding badly. Okay? So so Matthew, Mark, and Luke all share the same story about this woman. And this woman had, like it was like she was like hemorrhaging, like, a real a period, basically, for 12 years.
[00:46:45] Unknown:
Oh, god. And,
[00:46:46] Unknown:
she was, yeah, she was really, really bleeding for 12 years. But the thing is, where that was very different from where it would be for us, Obviously, they didn't have any sanitary wear. Mhmm. They didn't, she didn't have, like, sort of, the help that she we would be able to get now. She was trying to close decisions. She paid, like, all the money she had trying to get help, but nobody could help her with that. The condition that they think she had, I looked it up, and the condition that they have now is they explain it as, it's called menorrhagia, and they say it's defined as excessive menstrual blood loss, which interferes with women's physical, social, emotional, and or or material quality of life.
So that was her life. And she had tried everything that she could, but the issue is with all the bleeding, it was really obvious that she would have been bleeding. They were, like, really, hot on ceremonial uncleanliness. So if somebody was bleeding, having their period, they weren't allowed to touch anybody for 7 days. And if they touch something, then that person would then become unclean for 7 days. So this poor woman, not only would she be really anemic, she would have been really sore. So I mean, bleeding for 12 years nonstop. Really uncomfortable and everything.
Also, she was ceremonial unclean. And so if she went anywhere, people would have got out of her way. They wouldn't have wanted to go near her. They, you know, she probably had to go and get her water at night, you know, because nobody wants to collect the water from a well with this woman that was so obviously bleeding. And you'll probably find store store holders wouldn't let near the store and everything. So her life was miserable, and she had done everything she could to get the help. And she heard that Jesus has come on, and she knew that he was the only person that could help her.
But she couldn't really come out in the light of the day, but obviously, this time she decided, I'm gonna do it. I'm just gonna do it. I'm not gonna care what anyone thinks of me. I am going to do it. So she would have had to push through the crowd to get to Jesus. So even that was incredibly brave of her because she knows what everybody, however, would have felt if they touched her and what they felt about themselves being unclean as well. So she pushed through the crowd, and she just got near enough just to touch the hem of his garment. So it's either the border or the bottom of his hem. No one quite is they say his hem or his cloak, but she just touched it. And as soon as she touched it, the baby stopped. And she was completely healed now. We've got both Matthew, Mark, and Luke are telling the same story. They saw it all happen. And, Jesus knows straight away that power's gone from him.
And he says, who's touched me? And they're all like, what do you mean who's touched you? There's all these crowds around you. They're all jostling against you and everything. And you're saying, who's touched you? And he's and he knows someone's touched him in his face. And he says, no. Someone's touched him. And this woman just falls at his at his feet and she says explains it, oh, you know, I've had this bleeding all this time and and I've given all the you know, got all these doctors, paid all this money to try and get work, and I can't get work. And I've just touched him, and the reason just stopped. And he says, you know, your face has healed you. Go in peace.
And this is I mean, you've probably never heard that story. No. I haven't. No. No. And a lot of people won't have done because it's not one of the big stories, but this is really touches us today. I felt it was really important, actually, particularly for me to share with you because I'm obviously, you know that I've been healed. I'm sure I've been healed from my aneurysm. Mhmm. And we've been I've I've had an issue with bleeding, and I get really anemic. I'm having an IV in, an IV on Wednesday. And I've been waiting 3 years for an operation, and nobody would do it because of his aneurysm because it was too much of a risk.
And I heard last week that I've got a date with the aneurysm on the 28th for the, bleeding on the 28th. Wow. And it was just yeah. I know it's gone. I know he sorted it. He sorted the aneurysm. He sorted it. But this is the thing. This woman, her can you imagine her life after there's no breathing? You know, she couldn't pick she wouldn't even be allowed to have a cuddle because anyone who touched her was then unclean for 7 days. But she would have had 7 years of being ostracized, and she couldn't be near anybody. And then in an instant, that's all gone. She's healed. Yeah.
[00:51:30] Unknown:
I love it. I love stories like that. And like you say, the other confirmations of Matthew, Luke, and John as well saying it. Yeah.
[00:51:37] Unknown:
Yeah. And they yeah. It's really yeah. And it and they have to be able to see in today's we understand this is what she would have had. You know? And and when they say that it affects their it appears with their physical, their social, emotional, and material quality of life, no one can say, well, not that. That doesn't exist. That's not such a thing. No. It is a thing. It is a thing. She obviously have that.
[00:52:01] Unknown:
Wow. I love it. Love it. Love it. Love it. Yeah. Yeah.
[00:52:06] Unknown:
So I thought that was quite a good one because particularly with us women because we know how hard it is. And, you know, it's difficult, isn't it? You know, we obviously, you know, you go through all that, like, you clear stuff. And then you go through the change, and there's so much hormonal stuff, isn't it, with it all and everything like that. And, you know, I just take the slightest little thing I've heard about. I ask God to help me with. I even know if I lose something, ask him to find it for me. You know? And it's that help, isn't it, knowing that we can do that?
[00:52:35] Unknown:
Yeah. I need to start asking more. Yeah. You've you've got me thinking now because I've got terrible reflux, and I've had a re a procedure this week, botanical drink or something like that. But I had to drink this, like, milky textured drink and have x rays and stuff. And basically my esophagus, if I pronounce that right, is it's got mild damage, but all the medications I'm taking, I mean, I've been here swigging from a bottle of, Gaviscon. You know? I've tried everything, but I haven't tried praying. So know then. I'm going to. Yeah. Because although I'll get it sorted eventually through perhaps a small procedure,
[00:53:18] Unknown:
yeah. What have you got to lose? What have you got to lose? Definitely. You you haven't got anything to lose. You haven't got anything to lose. And, you know, I I feel you know, I think when that woman went away, she must have been leaping and dancing and praising god and do you know what I mean? She knew if I can just get to him and touch the hem in his garment, I'm gonna be healed. Absolutely. And and god felt that power go from him to her. He knew he had been touched. And I feel that's for me, you know, and for all of us that when we do when we do, you know, come close to god and pray for things and speak to him and have a relationship with him and know that, you know, he had died on a cross for us, the things that we've done wrong, and we're back to that relationship with him. Life's just so different. Yes. You still get tough times. Of course, you do. We're we're normal people. We live a life.
But, actually, he's helping through it.
[00:54:10] Unknown:
Yeah. It's that faith, isn't it? I I love that quote. I can't remember it, which is really helpful. Your is it footprints in the sand? Oh. You know, the traditional it's like a picture and it said, but, god, where were you when I needed you? And he said, because I he said that there were no footprints of yours, just mine. And he said that's because I was carrying you. Oh,
[00:54:31] Unknown:
okay. Right. Yeah. Lovely. And and yeah. And you can feel that sometimes. I know there's been times I've been carried. I know that. I know when my dad was dying, I physically felt an arm around my shoulders. I physically felt being cuddles. I mean, there's times I know there's you know, I just know more than anything. I can sit on the chair now even more, sure, sit on this chair. I know he's been there carrying me or comforting me.
[00:55:01] Unknown:
And how how do you feel about the afterlife, Jackie? Because I know we've only got a few minutes left, and it's a big topic. Because I know we've had conversations about this before. Yeah. But, like, do you do you believe that they're they are there waiting for you?
[00:55:17] Unknown:
Yeah. I believe when my dad, was dying I was my dad was saying 58 when he died. And he he had he had leukemia, and it turned it's it's called a Richter Richter something. And it's basically, it sort of eats you from inside out. It's really, really horrible. And it's like and, basically, he had all the black skin's going really black where it was being eaten. Do you know what I mean? What I can't remember the actual word for it, when your skin just dies. But, and so he was all bandaged up apart from one eye, his nostrils, and his mouth. Oh, my god. And, he said, yeah, he said to us, he said, the lord has opened a window into heaven.
He said, and Jesus is just himself. And as he said it, one tear trickled down the eye that wasn't covered up, and he said, Jesus is just himself. He said, it is pure enough. He said it's pure enough though. He said the only thing that goes through to eternity is love. And I really feel that, and I feel I believe that there are I believe dad's up there. I believe mom's up there. I believe I'm gonna see them again. Yeah. Oh, lovely. Yeah. A 100%. We we lost a baby at 22 weeks pregnant. I believe he's up there. Do you know what I mean? I believe they're there.
[00:56:33] Unknown:
And had, lots of encounters where, like, my nan died a few months ago, and she's been in my dreams. But I feel that she's chatting to me really. She's connecting with me. The other morning, it was like we had a 20 minute phone call in my dream. Oh, you're really good. Yeah. And I'm like, she is I think we're making contact, so to speak. But who knows? We're never gonna know for sure until until that day comes.
[00:57:00] Unknown:
I I believe so for me, it's really interesting you say that because, Tim's mom, used to think that I was spoiling Josh because I loved him so much. And she used to tell me that you're spoiling him because you love him so much. And I remember going up to my bedroom and throwing myself in the bed and saying, lord, please help me hear that again. Please help me hear that again. And I had a dream, and I had a dream that I was trying to go for a white with a purple coat and tell her that she's doing a really good job. And the phone rang, and and I picked it up and it was dad. He said, hello, Jackie. It's dad here. I said, I'm just phoning to say that you'll never be an adequate mother as long as you really love your child. And I said, you know and then his voice went really quiet. He said, Jackie, I've got to go now, but you'll never be an adequate mother as long as you really love your child. Oh, that's lovely. I believe I believe I was probably speaking to Angel. I don't think I was speaking to them. I think God allowed me to hear that through that. So I think when you you know, I think God knew I needed to hear that, and he gave me that dream.
[00:57:59] Unknown:
Lovely. And that's a good ending note. Oh, I love it. The inspiration. Really lovely. Well well, thank you for your time, Jacqui, and we'll do it again soon because Yeah. It's lovely. It's really nice to bring because it's on a Sunday as well. It's nice to bring that gold element into it. I've just loved in learning all these stories and stuff. So yeah. That's it. Yeah. Well, it's a lovely to meet you, my darling. Happy to be here. Yeah. You too. We'll catch up again soon, sweetie. Yeah. You take care. Thanks, Jackie. Bye. Bye bye.
[00:58:29] Unknown:
Bye. Bye.
[00:58:30] Unknown:
Oh, I love it. I love a good Jackie chat. We all need a Jackie in our life. I've been saying that ever since I spoke to her before and went to her church. Anyway, without further ado, we're gonna move on. I should be back the same time next week, but I will be back on in a minute with Patrick Chanel, Malefika Scott, hopefully Paul English. And, we're just gonna have a catch up for an hour and see what conversation comes up. So stay tuned, and I'll be back with you in a minute or so.
