Good evening to all the wonderful women out there and perhaps the few gentlemen listening too. You are listening to women's hour. I am your host, Shelley Tasker, and we are coming live out of radiosoapbox.com. It's good to have your company. I'm also streaming via rumble, so if you'd like to join in the conversation, please do so. Just look at my name. Shelly Tasker. Right. So on with the show, we're gonna have a catch up with Joe for the first half an hour. And I've got a great guest lined up for the second part, with Jackie Bobman, who is, a Christian, a very well respected member of the community where I live. And, we're gonna talk about her journey with God.
So let's get on with Jo. Let's have a sneaky conversation with Jo at work. I know she's ready and waiting. Good evening, Jo. Hello?
[00:02:03] Unknown:
Hello.
[00:02:04] Unknown:
How are you doing?
[00:02:06] Unknown:
I'm very well. How are yourself?
[00:02:08] Unknown:
Yeah. I'm not bad actually. Better than yesterday,
[00:02:11] Unknown:
but Oh, no. Oh, no.
[00:02:13] Unknown:
Oh, a day in bed yesterday. Just no sickness, just mental sickness. You know? Just, I don't wanna be a miserable moron, but I've just been A miserable moron. A miserable moron moron. Yeah. I've just been feeling quite low. And yesterday it was like, do you know what? I'm just gonna stay in bed all day, and I did. Do you know that's like just my dream?
[00:02:35] Unknown:
I I and as you know, quite often, I will stay in bed and not get dressed for oh, you know? I think my record is something like 3 days, maybe maybe more if I'm being honest. But, you know
[00:02:49] Unknown:
I knew it was it well, it was nice. It was needed. I couldn't be bothered to do anything. I'll let Piran self parent himself. I was a bad parent. He was on his computer nearly all day. But, you know, sometimes Yeah. Yeah. Sometimes you just gotta, like it is what it is. So Yes. After lots of sleeping and lots of resting, I'm back back to feeling somewhat normal.
[00:03:13] Unknown:
You see, that's what your body is telling you, and you have to listen to it. You know? So yeah. Good. I'm glad to hear your your normal as normal as can be.
[00:03:25] Unknown:
As normal as can be in this day and age. Yeah. Wow. So, you know and today, I managed to get Kieran out the house and, you know, what he's like. He never really wants to do anything unless Theo comes or he's got a friend. And he actually went to the beach with us, didn't moan once. And we had plenty of time. Yeah. We literally spent a couple of hours down there, and he wasn't geared up for swimming or anything. But as you know, it's like with children.
[00:03:52] Unknown:
I mean, you know, I I don't know sort of the location wise. I know Cornwall has little microclimates. But where I am, it's been raining all day. So if you had, like, an Indian summer on the other coast or something,
[00:04:08] Unknown:
when you say he didn't go swimming No. He did. He did. He did. No. He did. It's been gray here as it it just feels like October. I feel like we're ready for Halloween. And, yeah, we walked down, and he they always manage. You know, they got their wellies on, and then eventually, the water gets in their wellies and the lower half soaked. And we found a big pool, and he was throwing the ball to the dog. And I said, come on. Just take your top off and just go for it. And we must have spent about 45 minutes with this pull throwing the ball for the dog. And then 2 other families came by, and they were throwing the ball for their dog as well. And, everyone was like, should I swim to the other side? Oh my gosh. And we managed to get him to do it, and it was lovely because when he swam to the other side, both the other families were all clapping and cheering. Oh, brilliant. It was really lovely. Oh, brilliant. He would've loved that. Yeah. He did. I love it when random things just happen, and you're just in the moment having a great time. Yeah.
So yeah. A much better day, like you said, than yesterday. Oh, yeah. And I think I've been feeling that. I need to be with the elements. You know? I need to be outside in nature.
[00:05:21] Unknown:
I need to be with horses, and I just need more outside time. Just inside all the time. Yes. And and as soon as you said outside with the elements, I was about to say, well, yes. You do need to find us 2 ponies, because I need to be outside. I need to I don't think I'm so much like, oh, I need to be with the elements. Yes. That would be wonderful. I just need to be teenager Joe.
[00:05:51] Unknown:
God help us.
[00:05:54] Unknown:
And I I just remember that was you know, my life is pretty happy. But, as a teenager, you you're not weighed down with the weight of the world, are you? You don't have, you know, all this responsibility for for whatever it is. And for me, it's just like I need to go back to that, and a lot of that time was spent around horses or riding. So, yes,
[00:06:19] Unknown:
we need to do it. We do. And it's funny because I was at this stage when my middle child was at Piran's age 11 because they just don't need you in the same context anymore, do they? You're a taxi driver. You're there just to, like, cook and, well, cook and clean for them and all that sort of stuff. But it's like, what do I do? Because he never wants to do anything with me. And it's like, right. It's time for me again. I mean, last time this happened, I did go out and get a horse and broke it in and all that jazz. Oh my god. That's going a bit far. Yeah. I'm not quite in that place, but when I have a day off now, I think, do you know what? You need to take some time, do things that you really enjoy. I just feel like I need some fun.
[00:07:02] Unknown:
Yes. Yes. And yes. Absolutely.
[00:07:06] Unknown:
So there's me. What have you been up to, young lady?
[00:07:10] Unknown:
Well, I've been busy as per usual working. But yesterday, I did manage to fit in a carnival.
[00:07:22] Unknown:
Oh, yes. I did see the footage on Facebook. You did. Tell the listeners.
[00:07:27] Unknown:
Well, for the listeners out there, there is a group on Facebook as well as other social media sites called Farmers Movement Cornwall. And, really, it's just spreading the words to the general public, society. The the farmers are really under attack from the government. You know, it's almost give an inch, and they take a mile. However, you know, we're not playing playground tactics here. We're playing with the big boys. So what the government are doing is knowing as the years and the decades have rolled on and supermarkets really shafting the farmers. The farmers are down on their knees.
So along come the farm, the government throwing crumbs and the farmers, you know, you can't blame them. They're gonna take it. They're in desperate need of finances. But the government are saying, okay. Well, you know, we'll give you x amount, every year for I think it's 5 years to start with. For the 1st year, we wanna take 10% of your land, and you've gotta plant trees. But here's the kicker. If one of those tree saplings doesn't survive, the farmer gets penalized financially for it by the government. So if they manage to, you know, get all these tree saplings through, the government comes back the 2nd year and says, oh, we're gonna give you some more money for rewilding for all the wildlife.
Now I don't know about you or anybody else really in the world, but, generally, farmers that have got fields have probably got hedgerows or trees or things like that that the native wildlife will live in. But the government have taken it upon themselves. No. No. Can't have the wildlife living in their natural habitat. We've gotta give over, like, you know, 10% of a field. And if you imagine, like, 10% of, say, 1 acre isn't a lot, but if you've got 10 acres or 50 or a 100, 10 percent's quite a lot. So we decided to set up a group and that's what we did. And one of our guys, at the beginning of the summer, so called summer, had started to attend the carnivals with, banners and, some very nice farmers that had turned up in their tractors, and we entered into the carnivals. And I do believe that you helped out on one of them, did you not?
[00:10:25] Unknown:
I was aunt Sally from. Yes.
[00:10:29] Unknown:
You you were with your sidekick,
[00:10:32] Unknown:
Why weren't you dressed up yesterday?
[00:10:35] Unknown:
Because funny enough, I was working, and I went straight for work.
[00:10:40] Unknown:
You only needed a bit of makeup, Jo. I would have lent you my stuff. Dress.
[00:10:47] Unknown:
And my uniform does not dictate that I wear a dress. So anyway, there were 2 stand ins for aunt Sally and Wirzel, and, off we went to the carnival in the pouring rain. Of course. Absolutely throwing it down. But, yes, we we went and we got the words out, and it was a tremendous reception. Everybody will just honestly, I'm not exaggerating. Everybody was behind it going, yes. Yes. This is what we need. Oh my god. Give me some more flyers because I wanna give it to my neighbor and, you know, it was brilliant. It really was good. So, I think that's the end of the carnival season, but, you know, we're not done yet, so watch this space.
So that's really all I've been up to is work and carnivals.
[00:11:41] Unknown:
You do work a lot, Jo. A hell of a lot. I do. But you know what?
[00:11:47] Unknown:
I I have nothing to show for it. I really don't. And I'm just like, it's and I I don't spend a lot of money. I I just I really don't do that. And I think it's just the cost of living. You know? Cost of living. It's crazy. I know. And it's only gonna go up. It is gonna go up. I mean, they are talking about pay per mile in parliament right now. So, you know, forget your car tax. I mean, I don't know whether we'll be able to forget that literally. We'll probably still have to pay that, but we'll also have to pay a tax on top for every mile that we drive. And I'm just like, I it's turning me into a bit of a vigilante in my thinking. Let me state that for the record. I'm not a vigilante, but my thinking is very much like I've had enough of it.
[00:12:43] Unknown:
Yeah. It can wear you down, can't it? It's, I don't know. I'm I'm not so involved. I see all these posts. And as you know, I've been heavily involved like it for years, but I've just had to step back. I am a little bit I'd like to, like, harass people about the 5 g going up locally and stuff, and maybe I'll get a bit of a oomph back, but I'm a bit paranoid about that going up down the road.
[00:13:07] Unknown:
Well, I'm not surprised. I mean, you you put a post up recently, and then a random stranger to us both
[00:13:11] Unknown:
and then a random stranger to us both made a comment. And I'm like, do you know what? I'm really glad that she did. And I jumped in, didn't I, on that post and said, well, where I've been living for the last year, I've had exactly the same. And I'm just thinking, crikey, you know, is it old age? Is it tinnitus? And it isn't. It really isn't. It's exactly the same as what that lady had said on your post. So, yeah, 5 g is a danger. It is. Well, they think we're fast approaching into 6 g, don't we? Oh my gosh. Yeah.
Interesting times. Stop stop the world. I wanna get off. It's crazy. Absolutely crazy. But, I I think sort of, you know, just going back to your opening line about, you know, wanting to get out and reconnect with the elements, I think we all do, and kids included. And today, with you and Piran, that's a prime example. You know, it's never too late. You know, it's never too late. It doesn't matter whether we've lived this lifestyle for, you know, decades or whether kids are literally glued to their tablet or the computer or, you know, video games, it's never too late to just prize them out and and get back out into nature. It's almost like jumping in a time machine, isn't it? Because you take yourself away from all that technology that it has its place, but in
[00:14:42] Unknown:
in the most part, it's too It's a little a little walk and, you know, a a pond. Well, it wouldn't have been a pond, a pool. And, yeah, he didn't wanna leave. And he's like, can we come back again next time? When are we gonna come again? Oh, that's so cool. And I think for the last couple of years, I've been saying, come on. Should we get you a wet suit and we can go body boarding in the evenings and stuff? And he's like, no. No.
[00:15:05] Unknown:
Anyway, yeah, it was really nice. Really nice. So Well, that's that I think my threat of a wet suit has been going on, what, 18 months now? Do you Yeah. Do you remember? I mean, that's it. I've seen this really, really cool wet suit, and I'm gonna buy it. And I kind of felt a little bit relieved when I went into the shop, oh, several weeks ago. And I I know the guy in there, and I was like, oh, you still got my wet suits here? And he was like, yeah. Yeah. You better hurry up and buy them or they're all gonna go. So I was looking on the route, and I quietly sort of was like, oh, thank goodness for that Because my size is no longer there. And I was going, oh, you haven't got my size. And he was like, oh, I'm sure you could fit into a 10. And I'm like, oh, god bless you. I know you're looking for a sale, but there's no way I could squeeze into a tent right now.
So, yeah, I I I think that's a message from the universe. Don't buy a wetsuit, Jo.
[00:16:07] Unknown:
Maybe. Maybe stick to the horse riding. I just about stand being cold. Yeah. I can't stand it. May maybe the,
[00:16:15] Unknown:
the wet suit money will go on.
[00:16:17] Unknown:
Rising boots, droppers, and a hat. Oh, sexy. And a nice black crop.
[00:16:23] Unknown:
Oh, do you know when I was riding, I had a black and red one. Yeah. Oh, no. When you, like, slap it on the side of your boot, it makes brilliant noise, doesn't it? Oh, that dominatrix is coming out in
[00:16:41] Unknown:
you. Do you know Don't give away the seat. No. I don't. It's it's funny. With the fun that I had with period on the beach earlier, I was like, right. Come on. You need to dunk your shoulders. And he was like, no. It's too cold. And I was going, dunk your shoulders now. So he did it. And I was like, right. This time, do it in count to 5, then 10. But I was loving giving him all these orders. Oh my gosh.
[00:17:03] Unknown:
Wow. Yeah. It's it's a crazy old world, but I I totally agree. We do need to disconnect more more often than we actually do. So
[00:17:14] Unknown:
but, yeah, that's that's me in a nutshell, really. Right. Well, have you done your homework? Because I'm interested because, obviously, we talked about toothpaste last time. Yes. And do you know how, like, we all seem to be slowly taking things out of our diet, replacing them, and finding healthier options? I've not yet gone down the route of buying non fluoride toothpaste.
[00:17:38] Unknown:
Yes. Well, it's it's taken me about it. Yeah. It's taken me years years to not be brave enough, but just go, do you know what? I think I can do this. You know, because you're always worried about, oh, you know, I know the fluoride's bad, but how bad can it be? And we've all been brainwashed to go, we need it because it keeps away cavities and. And to a degree, it does. But, you know, obviously, you then get the toxic stuff with it. So I had seen for months on ends a product called HiSmile. And they're great with their marketing. Everything's bright colors, and they've got funky tasting toothpaste like Coca Cola or watermelon or peach or strawberry.
I mean Can you get just get mint? I'm not being funny about it. You want mint. You can. And that's the one that I've got. I didn't go with any of the funky flavors. I'm not into that. So I went with one that's called PAP Plus. Now I hope I'm gonna pronounce this right because it's a really long word. It's called Talomide proxy Capriquet. Yeah. So that's what PAP stands for. Talomide ceprokid, or something like that. It's a very long winded word, and it's it's like a silent th spelled with a p h. But, anyway, what that does, that's a natural bleaching agent.
Well, I say natural. It's derived from a natural product, but they've, like, manufactured it synthetically as opposed to hydrogen peroxide. So when you use hydro hydrogen peroxide, it actually demin mineralizes the enamel, so it breaks away the enamel. And then it gets into the dentine tubeless. And they're like little tubes within the pulp. So your teeth is made up as I think it's 4 components. I wanna say cement. It's naturally not cement, but it's called sent sent sentin or something like that. And then you've got the pulp, and then you've got the dentine, and then you've got the enamel. So if you imagine, if if you're whitening your teeth with products that's hydrogen peroxide or it's got that in, over time, your enamel is gonna be ebbed away.
So you then sort of have a condition that you you've now demineralized your own teeth. So everything like hot, cold drinks, you're sensitive to because what that's doing is hitting the nerve endings via the dentine and the sort of tubulars, what they're called. They're like little tubes that then feed down to the nerve root. So these wonderful scientists came up with a product called PAP Plus. There's PAP and there's PAP Plus. I'll get onto the plus in a moment. So it's a natural product that they're manufactured synthetically, and it's a natural whitening, bleaching agent.
But the plus part of it is they've added in something called, crikey, here's another one, a where is it? I'm looking at the little sheets here in the dark because, listeners, I'm not in my usual broom cupboard. I ventured out into the stairwell because the little darlings have misbehaved today. So I'm sitting in the stairwell in the dark. So hang on a second while I get what the plus is. Okay. So the PAP plus is a nano hydroxyapati. I have no idea what that is. But what it does, it remineralize it. I can't say that word. Remineralizes the enamel.
So the PHP product gets in. It it bleaches. It whitens. If you're prone to sensitivity, the nano hydroxy patty then goes in, and it remineralizes your teeth, so there's no sensitivity. And it's a nice minty taste. It's fluoride free, but it's also got a product in it called, I can't pronounce it, it's something like Zenitol, and you can get chewing gum, which is Zenitol. And that's derived from a plant, and it's used as a natural sweetener. Now you would all of a sudden go, oh my god. A sweetener in toothpaste or chewing gum, that must be bad. Uh-uh. No.
What it does, it eliminates all the bad bacteria in your mouth that causes teeth to sort of get cavities, and it almost well, it does. It blocks the cavities. So they've put that in there, so you don't need the fluoride to go in and sort of act as a building block on the enamel that may be porous. It's wonderful stuff, and it foams up a tree. I love a bit of foam. What you like? I know. I love it. Work in, like, dentistry or something. God knows we need dentists. Well, what what am I gonna be? A pilot or a or a dentist? Or a hairdresser. Job or a hairdresser.
Yeah. I mean, you know, I don't do do you know what? I think I could be defeated being a dentist. I I don't think I've got the mindset to go, do you know what? Yeah. Sure. I can land the plane. It's not a problem. Yeah. Sure. I can pull your tooth out and, you know, no. I think I would be yeah. I'd have to put my hands up and say, no way could I do that.
[00:24:30] Unknown:
No. I would faint. I watch people. I haven't you know, when you watch old movies and some I mean, I've even seen clips recently on, like, TikTok of people that haven't been able to get to the dentist, and they've had their friends with pliers take their teeth out. Yeah. No. No. Well, many
[00:24:47] Unknown:
many moons ago when my daughter was 15 maybe, she had to have one of her back teeth out. And, went to the dentist and he said, oh, you know, yeah yeah yeah, I can do that. The angle that it's at, you know, I can easily pull it out. Do you want me to give you an injection? Now this is before we all knew what they now put in it, the Graphene. And she was like, well, do you think I need 1? And he says, well, it's gonna be over and done with quick. And she went, oh, no. I don't need it. And I'm sitting there. Literally, the color's washed out of me, and I'm like, you know, trying to show no fear to her. I kid you not, she didn't even flinch. She didn't even flinch. There's blood pouring out.
He's looking at me going, is she okay? And I'm like, yeah. She's fine. Crack on. She said, oh, I felt a slight pull in and coldness, but it was alright. I'm like, oh my god. What what am I raising here? Some sort of Lyra Croft from the tomb raider or something.
[00:25:59] Unknown:
Yeah. Do you do you remember when you had your last Tufail? I think you had a Tufail a couple of years ago. I did. You were telling me all about it on loudspeaker in the car, and threw up. And I was like, can we stop talking about this now, Jo? Because you were so graphic.
[00:26:15] Unknown:
Well, you know yeah. I'd I'd I I like to say it how it is. Don't know if you and your listeners have noticed that, but yes.
[00:26:23] Unknown:
So this toothpaste, is it expensive?
[00:26:28] Unknown:
Yes and no. Right now, they're running a 50% set. Do you work for them on the side? Listen to you. No. I know. People say that you well, you know I had problems with my hoover. I was very attached to it. We've spoken about that. But I bought the same make, a Dyson. And, of course, I you know, I'm in love with it now. And everybody I talk to about, they go, are you a sales rep for Dyson? And I'm like, no. It's the best thing. No. I'm not a sales rep for the tooth company. It's a toothpaste company. But they've got a 50% sale on, and I think the toothpaste was, like, 550, maybe 650.
But it's really good stuff. So I went and bulk bought because I just felt good about myself that it's fluoride free as well. So it's a win win situation. On Amazon? You can, but I didn't buy it off Amazon. I bought it direct from the company. In actual fact, I think Amazon were charging a pound more if I remember rightly.
[00:27:34] Unknown:
Alright. You're gonna have to send me the link. Send me the link because I need the fluoride free tooth Yes. And then I can feel that that's another element of my life sorted. Absolutely.
[00:27:43] Unknown:
And, you know, I mean, there's a saying, isn't there? I won't say it, but, once once you've had fluoride free toothpaste, you'll never go back.
[00:27:54] Unknown:
Right. Well, I will try this. And then what I want to move on to is I need a water filter.
[00:28:02] Unknown:
Ah, well, I can talk to you about that next week because that's something I've been looking at. Yes. There's a product called water 2. It's fantastic. You replace the filter once a year. It's really easy to fix, but that's a trap for next week. Right. Well, we have a subject for next week. That's good. There you go.
[00:28:22] Unknown:
Where whereas our time nearly gone, we got a wrap up, Jo, because we're nearly at the bottom of the hour. Oh, I know.
[00:28:26] Unknown:
Because we're nearly at the bottom of the hour. Oh, it goes so quick. I know. I know. Just talking about random stuff. Random
[00:28:34] Unknown:
things. Yeah. In the life of German Shelley.
[00:28:39] Unknown:
Well, we are here, and it's a privilege. Yes. Alright, my lovely. Well, without further ado, I'll let you get back to your last half an hour of work.
[00:28:48] Unknown:
Yes. Yes. I'll I'll continue. Oh my gosh. I nearly fell off the stairs then. I'll continue sitting in the stairwell in the dark, listening to the craziness that's going on above me, but, yeah, hopefully, I'll make it out alive.
[00:29:02] Unknown:
I'm sure you will. And you'll be driving home in the dark. Oh, it gets dark so early. What's going on? That's what I mean. It's like Halloween, I think. It feels like Halloween, and I'm sure the seasons are all messed up. So perhaps it is Halloween. Who knows? Who knows who knows who's going on in the matrix? But yeah. Alright, my lovely. Well, without further ado, I will let you go, and, we'll catch up soon.
[00:29:29] Unknown:
Lovely job, Lee.
[00:29:30] Unknown:
Take care, lovely. Bye. Alright. Bye. Bye bye. Gosh. She's a wealth of knowledge, that woman, isn't she? This is your thing. You see, she's got time at work and she scrolls, scrolls. She could not live without her mobile phone, but I'm grateful for it because anything I need to know, Jo. And then I get loads of links sent to me and everything. So, yeah, she's a handy friend to have. No. She's a good friend. Anyway, onto our next guest. Yeah, the lovely Jackie Bodman, who I've known for several years actually because her middle daughter or second to last daughter is used to be good friends with my daughter in secondary school. So we've seen each other on and off over the years when she used to run a play group and things. She has a lot to do with the church.
And, yeah, she's agreed that she will be a guest. So let's get Jackie on the line. Okay. Oh, it's not working. There's a surprise, isn't there? I might have to play a song. Let's see if it will work on this. All's connected. She should be the other end waiting. It's exciting, isn't it? I only spoke to her a few hours ago. She's ready. Perhaps she's got a fan switched up. I won't panic. It'll be worth the wait. I'll leave it for a second. I'm just gonna message her. Panic. Panic stations. I can't talk for another half an hour by myself. Bear with me one second.
Gotta love live radio, haven't you? Gotta love it. I'm gonna delve out a tune for a second, I think, and we'll see. You know, there's no time difference. She's only in the same town. Perhaps she thinks I'm gonna call on her phone, but I don't think I've got her phone number. Right. The professionalism is here. Let me find a song to play. I should be organized for things like this, but I just thought everything was gonna go swimmingly tonight. Swimmingly. Right. Where's that song that I like? A little bird told me. Bear with and it will start.
Or maybe it won't. Maybe you should quickly go and grab yourselves a cup of tea or something. Okay. Let's do this one. Be back in a couple of minutes.
[00:33:00] Unknown:
Here's Stew clothes and I'll stand out in buttons and bows. I love you in buckskin or skirts that are the homespun. But I love you longer, stronger where your friends don't tow a gun. My bones do not miss the bar before bouncing the gate just hurts my toes. Let's band those women are women in high silk hoes, peekaboo clothes, and French perfume that rock the room. And I'm all yours in buttons and bows, buttons and bows,
[00:34:38] Unknown:
And that was Dina, Dina Shaw. I think it was Buttons and Bose. I am loving all these old tracks. Gonna try Jackie again a second. I wonder what's happening happened to her because, she's definitely said she's up for it. Perhaps there's some crisis in church or something. Please answer, Jackie. Please answer. Well, I'll wait for her to message back. Okay? Not to worry. It's me. You're left with me. So, yeah, as you can say oh, hang on a minute. No. We'll wait for her to message. Yeah. As I was saying to Jo in the first half an hour, and I've said to you guys before, I've done solo shows on depression and stuff like that. Not a great thing. And I do get to that point when I just take to my bed.
And I just lied there. And like, Perrin came in and was like, shall I put the TV on for you, mommy? No. It's okay. Would you like the radio on? No. It's okay. I just like to lie there lost in thought and sleep. And I was watching a video about depression yesterday. And, I mean, there's there's lots of explanations of the word, but people believe the word depress depression. You're depressing. Your your body's gone inwards, and you need to look at it like deep rest. But there's only so long you can go go with that. And I have been taking those little microdosing things that I've talked about only for a couple of weeks. I've not really seen an improvement yet, but apparently you've got to wait 4 weeks or so.
And it's not good with all these dark evenings coming from, that's for sure. It's, you know, I was really waiting for summer, but as you're waiting, summer just disappears. It never came, and I do live for the sun. I am wondering at the moment if I might go and have some sun beds, but then people go on how dangerous they are for you. But everything's dangerous, isn't it, in this day and age? Nothing is safe. Hence, I was saying about Jo moving on to the tooth paste. I think it all takes time. I mean, I've gone back to all the full fat milks using butter, and, you know, I always cooked with vegetable oil and things like that. And that is actually one of the worst things.
I've seen a list, a chart of all the things where I think lard is in your top three, really, which is good for you. And how many years have we been sold the lie that all of this fat building up in your blood and your veins and everything is gonna give you a heart attack. I'm not saying, like, eat lard every day and things like that, but coconut oil as well. That's something I've got a massive jar of that that I bought ages ago, not to actually cook with, but just to use as, like, lip balm and things like that. But I was cooking an insomnia this evening, and I thought, you know, if I cook it with coconut oil, it's gonna taste surely coconutty.
Anyway, I'm mabbling on. I think Jackie is here. Oh, hang on. She's typing a message. She's around anyway, so hopefully you won't have to hear me babble on too much about my different cooking oils. But, yeah, so I've moved to olive oil, which can look a bit greeny, actually. I think if you're frying an egg or something like that, it doesn't necessarily make your eggs look that great. But, Yeah. I'm gonna I'm always used to cook with lard and then I'm always on a diet and you think, well, actually, that's really fattening for you and not good for you. Message from Jackie.
Mum had to go to the hospital to see someone. She's rushing back. We'll be here in a few minutes. Oh, no worries. No worries. I don't know if that's Jackie talking about her mum or her daughter chatting about Jackie. Jackie is that person who is there for everyone. Like I say, she's a vicar's wife, and I used to go to a toddler group that she used to run, and it used to be one of the best mornings of the week. She's the most nonjudgmental beautiful soul, one of the most beautiful souls I've ever met. And I can remember when my when my daughter was pregnant. It was uncanny that was actually because I dreamt that she was pregnant.
And I said to her, do you know what? I dreamt you were pregnant last night. Anyway, she didn't, oh, well, blah blah blah blah. 22 days later, she sends me a message where I messaged her, and she says, hey, do you know what? Your dream was right. And it was like, wow. Can I really be that connected to the psychic of my daughter? Anyway, you know, she was young. She was 19, and Jackie had a lot to do with pregnant teens and stuff like that. And I was very grateful to Jackie who came down and talked to my daughter and gave her that talking to of no judgement and that everything would be alright and could be alright and that there would be plenty of support for her.
And it was her visit that actually made my daughter accept it because, you know, she was zooming in and out and I don't know if I can do this. I should imagine being 19 years old. Anyway, no regrets. No looking back. She's now on child number 2, which I have the pleasure of looking after one day a week. I say pleasure, but I've got to say it's getting harder each week. She is now walking and you just can't do anything, can you? You forget what it's like to just go and hang some washing out what they're into. And my daughter calls me nana danger because a couple of times, like my grandson, we've had a couple of accidents, and I've always phoned up and say, don't panic. Don't panic.
These two times, you know, we have ended up in hospital, but there was nothing that I could have done to prevent these accidents. But it just always seemed to be on my watch. And now I'm responsible for her 1 year old. She must trust me or she's desperate. She is probably desperate because she needs to work and childcare is bloody expensive. And it's not just the expense. It's actually getting them in a place. So the baby is well, I say baby. She's a toddler now, but she's moving to a new toddler, a new nursery in October. Anyway, Jackie's calling me. Here we go. Hello.
[00:41:23] Unknown:
I am so sorry. Don't be sorry, Jackie. Don't be sorry. Sorry. I just went to go and see somebody who's actually, well, she's dying, and I don't take my phone with me, so it's not a distraction.
[00:41:35] Unknown:
It's okay if you're here. No. And I just said that to the listeners. I said, you are that woman that you could call upon, and there's probably some emergency and Yeah. The joys of being a vicar's wife.
[00:41:48] Unknown:
It is. It really is. It's a real reality. Yeah. Life is very well, as you can see, it's here, there, and everywhere, but it's also really a real privilege to really walk with people in the joys of their life, but also the really tough times when all pretense is gone. And you're just there supporting them through some really tough times. Oh, bless you. Certainly.
[00:42:15] Unknown:
Yeah. So, I mean, I I'm just explaining to the listeners that I've known you for quite a few years, your toddler groups and your stuff to do with the church. And I don't think I've ever seen you upset, Jackie.
[00:42:27] Unknown:
Also, it was so good. Yeah. Oh, really? Oh, I do. Do you ever see that? I'd I'd I'd try not to. Probably if I start I don't know. No. I probably don't out loud. No. Maybe in my head more I would, but not out loud. But that's, yeah, that's just a choice I make. But, yeah, what goes on in my head might be quite different.
[00:42:51] Unknown:
At least you'll yeah. Think before you speak. So, Jackie, I wanted you to come on because I look for inspirational women, and you popped up the other day. And I was like, oh, Jackie. And whenever I see you, we all say we'll catch up one day, but we never do because it's just No. Mental. Can you just give the listeners a just, like, a debrief about you, who you are, and your connection with God?
[00:43:14] Unknown:
Okay. Okay. So I come from a family of 10 children. I was, number 4 along, so I've always been surrounded by lots of people. And I I do. I just love people. I love chatting to people. I love being around people. I remember my mom used to say to me when I was little that I would just come alive if people were around. And I I just do. Now I was brought up in a Christian household, and I was taught about Jesus, but I hadn't actually myself believed myself. And I actually became a Christian through a miracle. And what happened was because we had 10 children, money was tight. And so we were allowed one photo, in our whole senior school year. And we either chose the 1st year we went to senior school or the last year.
And I chose the 1st year that I went to senior school and I my mom gave me £7.50, so that would have been what would have been 11? So that would have been 1979. And I lost the money. And I didn't know I know. I didn't know how to tell mom. My probably equivalent would have been about £40 in today's money. And I didn't know how to explain to mom that I lost £40. I knew money was tight. And so I just lied every day I went to school. I just told a lie each day why I why I hadn't bought the photo money. And it got to Thursday, and she said, if you don't bring it by Friday, you won't get your photos. And I remember then walking home, talking to God, and saying, when I get home, I'm gonna kneel down by my bed and I'm gonna ask you where that money is.
And I didn't know him. I hadn't experienced a relationship with him or anything. And I went went home, knelt down by my bed, and said, please show me where that money is. And I heard a voice and it said, go downstairs, lift up the lid of the telephone table, put your hand down aside. I knew exactly where to put it and it's there. And I ran downstairs, put down, pulled out the envelope with the money in. And that's where I became a Christian. Wow. Because I've experienced God was real.
[00:45:20] Unknown:
That's amazing. So Just making my hair stand up on my arms.
[00:45:25] Unknown:
So as an 11 year old girl, that's when I became a Christian. And I think because I became a Christian on on a miracle, I believe in a complete and utter miracle god. And I've seen him do amazing things in my life ever since. And so my life is well, it's really busy. We're in a church where lots and lots goes on, as you know. There's groups every day happening. But also, we get to know each other individually, as you've experienced, Shelley. We get to know people who they are, and we and, you know, we we really do get to know people, don't we? And I think that is the important thing. I think it's very easy for people to say, well, I'm a Christian, and they live this life that's can be quite distant from others. Whereas I feel, yes, I do believe in Jesus and I do really love him and I do completely know that he is helping me throughout my life.
But, actually, I also love people and I want to be as real and true to who I am to the people and be very approachable and be easy to get along with and just, yeah, just be myself but let Jesus shine through. So So that's probably me.
[00:46:44] Unknown:
In a nutshell. Yeah. I was just explaining to listeners how you came and talked to my daughter that was first pregnant, and, she was in a state of panic. And you do a lot of work with that sort of thing as well.
[00:46:55] Unknown:
Yeah. All sorts. I mean, from everything, you know. I mean, the day can be so varied. I mean, like, if you look at today, I was doing Sunday school today, you know, and we had 20 children in the class and I'm doing all these different things with them. One minute, I'm telling stories. The next, I'm doing doing illustrations. And then I'm leaping around the church running around with them. And then you're talking to people that are really struggling. And then I find myself rushing off just before I meant to be home with you to somebody who I don't know if he'll be here tomorrow, to give them time. And then we came out and the family had fallen out. So then we're talking with the family and trying to help out there. So it's very varied.
No. No day is the same. It's a real adventure. That's one thing I will say. Being a Christian has taken me on an amazing adventure. The things that God's shown us and and things we've seen happen. I've seen people's, you know, people heal before my very eyes. I've seen wounds in hands just completely, you know, become clean and, you know, heal in front of my eyes. And, oh, you know, my daughter, Kirsty, you know, she was healed from deafness. You knew that, didn't you? And, you know, it's just been amazing stuff I've seen. That's been an amazing adventure.
[00:48:10] Unknown:
Oh, well, I was watching your live you did a couple of weeks ago. Can you tell us about that?
[00:48:17] Unknown:
Okay. So so, basically, I'm I'm one of those that did have the jabs. And, I had the first one, I had a clot, and I didn't realize I had a clot. I got I just thought it was how I reacted. And so when I went for my 2nd jab, it was still a bruise and like a little marble compared to the big tennis ball it had been. And the nurse said to me then, look, that's that was a clot. You need to go to your doctors. You know what we like? We don't because I just thought, well, actually, I've not suffered from it. It didn't do anything. So I have my second one and 10 days later, a little blood clot went through my heart.
And completely, you know, made my heart go berserk. I was rushed into hospital. My heart was in atrial fibrillation and it was 250 beats a minute. And it took them 4 hours to stabilize my heart. And it's really sort of messed a lot of things up, and they ended up finding a brain aneurysm in the left hand side of my brain. That was about a year after that. And all sorts of other stuff came to light. Very much my whole blood system has gone a bit haywire. And I've started, you know, bleeding very badly, and I was getting very, very anemic. You know, internally bleeding and getting very, very anemic. And needing iron infusions. And all these things, I was regularly told that I was a real complex case and that everything was exacerbating everything else. So I ended up on 12 tablets a day and all sorts of things, in and out of hospital like a yo yo.
And, you know, many times, I've been prayed for with, my different health issues because they have been debilitating compared to you know how busy I used to be. I'm not at the past. You know? No. You're still mentally busy. Yes. I'm not rushing about constantly anymore. But well, I am now. But, anyway and, and so I'd had prayer. Nothing had happened. And I just completely accepted that, actually, I, you know, I'd been allowed to be this way because, actually, we're very in this world, we're very big on picture perfect, aren't we? We're very big on people being really healthy and looking really well and everything like that. And I really felt that god was showing me, I want you to work for your brokenness. I want you to show people that, actually, it doesn't matter how broken you are.
You've you know, there's you've you've still got, you still got so many giftings and talents and things that can be used. And from a Christian point of view, God can shine you through you and he can do lots of things through you. And we tend to put broken people on a parlour and no. No. No. You know, whatever is broken of us is, you know, we are still amazing people that can be used in amazing ways and do amazing things. And and I really felt that's what that's what it was. So I just thought, well, this is how I'm going to be. And I will just carry on my life this way, and that's how it will be. Well, I was then at a Christian conference. There's 14 and a half 1000 people at this conference.
And, I yeah. We were worshiping, and I found myself singing in tongues. And what tongues is, it's like a heavenly language that you can't speak. So you're singing something that you don't understand. It's like words that you you don't know what they mean, but it's just coming through you, through the Holy Spirit just out of your mouth. Sounds crazy, but it was like yeah. And I was just singing this language I didn't know. And I kept repeating the same line again and again and again. And then I would go off into, like, a a verse and then I'll come back to a chorus and I'll sing the same line again and again. And I believe God was breaking something then because, I then heard you need to turn around the the turn around to the people behind you and ask them to pray for the aneurysm in your brain. So I turned around and I said, look, you probably think I'm crazy, but I feel this is what god has told me to ask you. 1 was a nurse, 1 was part of the prayer ministry team, and one was just a friend. And they all knew each other, and they had her friend that had died from a a a ruptured brain aneurysm 6 months before.
So they it was like a healing for them as well because they had lost a good friend through a brain aneurysm. So and so they prayed. And I couldn't press against resistance on the left hand side. Let there was a weakness in my sort of, like, head and neck on the left hand side. And, anyway, I tried it and I can. And the other thing I didn't realize, I just thought I was getting old because my balance was really bad. And I just thought, I'm just really getting old really suddenly. But it was obviously the aneurysm because my balance isn't bad anymore. And god healed me. He healed me, and I've got so much more energy. And when I had I get, like I say, IV, iron infusions every 8 weeks because of the anemia.
And the hematologist phoned me 3 weeks ago and said, your iron's absolutely brilliant in your blood. We're gonna delay it another 2 months. Oh, wow. That is good news. Yeah. Yeah. So amazing. Again, that's what I say. I believe in a miracle god, and I think I believe he's healed me. And that's it. And that's it. Yeah. It's
[00:53:41] Unknown:
Oh, but it's not. It's so, I was actually thinking last night, do you know what? I fancy going to church. What church could I go to? And it didn't even enter my head. I did think, oh, actually, tell a lie. I did. A a bit later, I thought, oh, I could see what church Jackie's at, because I'm presuming you're still at the same church. We're still there. We're still there. Yeah. And what time do your services start? The service service is at half 10.
[00:54:19] Unknown:
And then one actually, one it's about an hour and a half long all in. But then one Sunday so the 1st Sunday of every month, we have a lot shorter service. And it's an all age service, so it's really interactive. And that's an hour. And then we all bring food. And whoever wants to people haven't got food. It's fine. Everyone stays. Whoever wants to come along. And we all eat together. We'll have a meal together.
[00:54:43] Unknown:
Oh, that's so lovely. I'm the one who used to do that. Yeah. Yeah. And that's the 1st Sunday of every month we do that. See, church always sounds like such a drag, doesn't it? Well, so Yeah.
[00:54:54] Unknown:
To lots of outside. To others. Yes. It does. Yes. Yes. And what about Sunday school? Does that run alongside then? It does. The Sunday school runs alongside. So the the kids will come up with us on the first of all, for, like, chores be sold. What age does that range? Any age. Any age. Literally, right from babies upwards. Any age. Okay. You know, we're all welcome.
[00:55:19] Unknown:
Oh, it's made me want to
[00:55:21] Unknown:
come. Yeah. And it's, and we are I mean, you know, we our church is very locked up. It's very you know, and I think a lot of people think of that. When I think of church, they think of pews, don't they? And they think of a church building. Yeah. But, you know, as you know, Shelley, our church is it doesn't look like a church. It looks like a house. I remember your kids used to your toddler moms used to say, your children used to think they come into my house and play for my toys because because it's not like a house and a church at all. But, and it's very lively. Very, very lively. And, yeah, lots of lots of fun.
Yeah. I am gonna Yeah. Lots happening. Yeah. I would love to see you. We'd really love to see you. Sing song and just to be with lovely people. I think at the end of the day, church is about community, isn't it? It really is about community. It really is. And we have probably about 250 people come through the church in a week to the different groups. And they are as much part of the church as those that were only coming on a Sunday morning. You know, we see everybody that comes to anything. We see them as part of the church. And, you know, they're, you know, included. If they want to be, they're included in activities. And they're, you know, they're welcome anytime.
[00:56:37] Unknown:
Anyone's welcome. Activities do you do then during the week?
[00:56:41] Unknown:
So let's see. So, on a Monday, we do an after school club, which is, called Sparks. And that's for, school aged children. So primary age. Then on a Tuesday, it's a prayer meeting. On a Wednesday, it's like bible studies. On a
[00:57:04] Unknown:
yeah. Wednesday, bible studies. So interested in all of that. Yeah. I have been for a while. Yeah. Sorry. Carry on. Yeah. That's okay. And then on a,
[00:57:14] Unknown:
Thursday, also also Wednesday, there's also a toddler group going on. On a Thursday, there's another toddler group going on. So Wednesday, they're both in the morning, both at half 9 until half 11. So that's Wednesday Thursday. And then on Friday, there's another it's a women's bible study, and then there's a use for a use group for teenagers.
[00:57:37] Unknown:
Wow. It's a lot. And what time what age would you class a teenager from for your youth group? Teenager
[00:57:43] Unknown:
so a teenager really is when they start secondary school. Secondary school. That's what we would say. And, that group starts at half sticks. It's quite early for a youth group, but we did that so that, you know, because of some children, it's, you know, if you did it too late, they can't come because we also feed them as well. So we give them a meal. So that starts at half 6, and they have a meal. And then you tend to get, you know, people would, you know, stay a little bit longer than others. So it just means you included everybody.
[00:58:12] Unknown:
Yeah. So something every day. Yeah. Yeah. Something every day going on.
[00:58:17] Unknown:
And then we do the young at hearts as as once a month on a Thursday. And that's where if you're over 50, you come and we do activities and we have food. This one, they go on a coach trip. So every month, something happens and it's for sort of 50 over fifties to 80 year olds. And it's good old sing songs or it's knees up or it's crafts or it's, you know, taught getting people in from the local community, different people that own different shops to chat about their shop and what they do and or it's a coach trip anywhere in Cornwall,
[00:58:52] Unknown:
and you go and get lunch and you go to the seaside or you go to garden centers or all sorts of different sounds wonderful. I mean, I see I see regular adverts for people. Can you recommend anywhere we can go to make friends and stuff like that? Yeah. Do do you have a church Facebook page, Jackie?
[00:59:09] Unknown:
We do. So it's Cambourne Community Church, and that's our Facebook page. Wonderful. So if you go on there, yeah. And then everything, you know, that we're doing is advertised on there. Right. I will check it out. And share it. Wow. Yeah. To the end, Jackie. Sorry. It's so short. Well, it'd be lovely to be with you, though. We still must suit up. We must do, and I'm very happy to be. Yeah. Very drawn to come and chat to you anyway. Yeah. Yeah. That would be lovely. Thank you so much. I'm sorry for being late. Oh, don't see me. See you then, my darling. Take care. Okay. Bye. See you. Bye. Bye.
[00:59:46] Unknown:
Wow. That was lovely, wasn't it? Imagine being that busy. Anyway, I haven't even got time to play the outro out. Thank you for listening, guys. I'll be back same time next week.
