[00:02:49] Unknown:
Still ill?
[00:02:50] Unknown:
Actually, yes. Yeah. And, again, had vomit in my face last night. Absolutely covered head to toe in
[00:03:00] Unknown:
cheeseburger and warm milk. Oh, that's quite a combination. The glamorous life of fatherhood.
[00:03:09] Unknown:
I wanted to take a picture and send it to you, but, there was too much crying and stuff involved. Well, thanks for not doing that. I appreciate it. You would have enjoyed it. It was a full head to toe covering. It was absolutely vile. I think you would have laughed. Nice.
[00:03:23] Unknown:
I, went to a fireworks show over the weekend. Do enjoy a good fireworks show there. It kind of awakens something primal in me. It's just like loud noises and bright colors and fire. It's just it was an enjoyable experience. And for once, it was really, really mild, so I wasn't freezing my tits off like I normally am on a bonfire night. And did you go for some sort of disgusting burger or kebab or something along those lines? And sausage and chips from the chip shop. Oh, okay. That's not too bad. Yeah. It was pretty nice. A couple of beers? Yes. I had 2 Guinness's and then a pint of some local
[00:04:01] Unknown:
kind of pale ale that they had on one of the food stands. Very, very nice. I like Bonfire Night. It is good. Yeah, especially now, you know we're both family men, there's just something quite wholesome about it. Yeah. Was it enjoyable? Did you go to any shows? We went to 1. It was quite nice actually. Kids are still young though, so it was just a lot of crying and that sort of stuff, but they still enjoyed it a bit I think. My missus and me were like, oh, you know, the whole bonfire night thing, and it'd be quite good to know a little bit more history about what really went on. I know you don't get the full story, but, like, Guy Fawkes, was he working alone? What was the reasoning for it? Was it around taxes? Was it around him just being fucking fed up with the government? Like, what was the real story would be quite an interesting thing to see. You've got, like, v for vendetta, just kinda like a play on it, isn't it? But, yeah, every time I see the big fire and the burning of the Guy Fawkes and stuff, I do think like, oh, it'd be quite nice to know a little bit more about that. It's funny you mentioned that actually. The last maybe 4 or 5 years, every bonfire I've ever been to, there's never a Guy Fawkes on top. And it's never even crossed my mind until you just said that. Yeah. That's weird. Okay. There's one of the one we just went to. Well, there was a big mask. It was actually like the v for Vendetta mask. Well, that sounds like a pretty based bonfire.
[00:05:19] Unknown:
I can imagine that Yeah. It was pretty cool. They've obviously stopped it in recent years at most bonfires because it, I don't know, the woke crowd would probably say it incites violence or something like that.
[00:05:30] Unknown:
Probably.
[00:05:31] Unknown:
Oh, I have recently started re watching Prison Break and I forgot how fantastic it is. Have you ever seen it? It is a great show. Oh, I haven't seen it for like, well, since it sort of came out, what was it, like 15 years ago? Something like that. Yeah. I watched it when it first came out and it's been long enough now that I have forgotten everything and he's like watching it again for the first time and it's I'm properly hooked. It's very don't get me wrong, it's very far fetched. Like this won't be a spoiler, but one of the main characters popped out through a a grid. That's a great for you Americans in the middle of, like, no man's land with all the towers around him, and the spotlight just shone on him. And oh, lo and behold, he was in a guard uniform and he just waved at the spotlight. And then the spotlight was like, oh, it must be a guard, and then left him alone. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Well, if you buy into all the drama of it, it's it's very good. How creepy is the, like, skinny little prison inmate? Teabag? That guy. Yeah. He's fucking so creepy. Yeah. This southern dude that's I think I think he's portrayed as a as a pedophile. So also not very accurate because if he was a real pedophile, then he probably would have got shanked and they definitely would have wouldn't have allowed him to try and escape with him. Yeah. Exactly. In other news, RIP, one of my bit axies. What? This will make you laugh, this one. So I had 2 or had being the the operative word there. One was one of the newer ones. I forget which model name it is. The the model name is confused to shout at me if I'm being honest, but it's like not the newest one, but the one behind that. The Supra? Yes. Thank you. It's a Supra. And then I had an older one that I got, from the Ellen Bit Shop. And that one was like the screen was flickering and it was, like, coming on and off and it just wasn't basically wasn't hashing. I looked at the power block for it, like the the power feed that's got, like, the converter on the block itself, and it's got a light on it and it just kept flickering. So I presumed that the power supply was was faulty.
So I was like, ah, damn. I don't really wanna not be hashing for ages. So I was like, I'll message, Black Coffee, and I'll see where he got his power cables from, and I'll just get a new one because they're they're they're cheap these days. In the meantime, because I'm I'm an impatient fuck, I was rooting around my office because I've got, you know, those that that box or drawer that you've got just full of cables that you're never ever gonna use in a 1000000 years. I know the one. Rifling through that one. And I found one with a barrel connector on it, which is what the BitTac uses. I was, oh, brilliant. Did not think for 1 minute to check what power rating it was or anything like that. I just like, oh, plugged it in quick.
Soon as I plugged it in, smoke everywhere. I was like, oh, fuck. Looked at the brick and it was like a wide screen monitor or something like that. So it was like 10 times the power it needed to be. Needless to say, cooked the bit ax and now I'm down to 1. That's quality, mate. Good work. Just in a rush being an impatient mofo, didn't look at the power and just thought, oh, yeah. It's got the same connector. It'll be fine. It wasn't fine. No.
[00:08:28] Unknown:
Well done, mate. Well, it's quite nice to hear that you struggle in life sometimes as well. Because I sometimes feel quite lonely. Hearing stories like that makes you a bit more human. Nice to,
[00:08:40] Unknown:
make you feel better about yourself sometimes. We, overnight, mate. Well, earlier on this morning, about 5 hours ago, for reference, it's 9:20 on a Monday morning, UK time. I know what you're gonna say. We got down to 1 sat per bite. Yeah. I knew you're gonna say this. And guess who came worming out of their little hole that they've been hiding in for the last 18 months? That Australian fuck, is it? He's back, baby. He's back. He was doing his victory laps. Yeah. He was doing his victory laps, and I sent out a note on Nosta that we need to page him. Little did I know that obviously he's been awake for a lot longer because he lives in the future and he'd already picked up on it. And and, yep, he was, he was parading. Was he very, very pleased with that? He seemed very pleased himself. Yeah. And well, he's had to wait a long time for it. So let him let him have his moment. Yeah. And, yeah. One sat per bite. I'm very happy for it. Maybe he's right. So we're at at the time of recording, we're down to we're currently at 2 sat per byte, for the next block. Mhmm.
And we only have 71 blocks in mempool's mempool. Like the the unofficially official one. Good day for,
[00:09:48] Unknown:
getting organized. That's exactly what I'm doing after this. I've I've dedicated about an hour after recording where I'm gonna get my shit together,
[00:09:56] Unknown:
and then I'm gonna start editing after that. Because you gotta take, take these opportunities as they go. This is the part where John would preempt what you were gonna say and and say that you're gonna talk about UTXO management. I did make me chuckle when I was listening to the the latest action news. His impression of you is perfect. It sounds exactly like you. Lyrically and vocally, a very, very talented guy. He's good at singing. He's good at impressions. Yeah. Yeah. He's just just a very talented And he's sharp for an old man as well. Yeah. I'd I'd like to know how old he is. Obviously, don't don't don't mention it publicly, but if I was to He's actually not that old. I'd say yeah. I was just about to say, I think you're exaggerating. I'm gonna put him mid to late forties, I reckon. Yeah. I won't say, but he's he's definitely not as old as I portray him to be. It's just fun to wind him up. Fair enough. We are Brits. That's that's what we do for for fun, I guess, is sarcasm.
[00:10:52] Unknown:
How are you feeling about Tuesday, mate? I think it can't come soon enough. I'm sick to the back teeth of looking and hearing about Kamala and mister Trump. Oh, is that Tuesday? Yes. Tomorrow morning, I believe the the result will be out. Yeah. I hadn't even really thought about it too much. I would enjoy it sort of piping down a bit, but it's not gonna pipe down anyway, is it? It's gonna be one of them is gonna win, and then the other one's gonna say that, oh, you didn't really win. It's not fair. Then you have, like, months of that. And then whichever one actually gets in is gonna not do anything that they said they were gonna do. And then you're gonna have months of that and people then going, I can't believe it. They they betrayed us. It's kind of over, but it's never really over. Yeah. The only thing I have the remote remotest bit of,
[00:11:40] Unknown:
interest in related to this election is is if Orange Man does get elected, whether he's true to his word about Ross. Because he he has mentioned it multiple times since he first mentioned it. But, again, he's a he's a politician, and he'll say what he wants to get votes. So but, you know, obviously, I would be ecstatic if he was true to his word there. That's the only bit I'm I'm interested in. Yeah. And for that reason That would be really he's the only one I'd like to see elected and for that reason alone. Yeah. He's definitely less of an annoying cunt than Cheers. Oh, absolutely. So I'm gonna be voting for him tomorrow. Oh, yeah. You can. You can, can't you? You can you you don't have to show ID or anything in America. You can No. You can be from Denmark if you want and just go and vote. That's exactly what I'm gonna be doing. So, yeah, he's gonna get my vote. I don't think he's gonna do any of the stuff that he says he's gonna do, but he is, as I said, less fucking annoying. I can't literally, I
[00:12:30] Unknown:
all politicians are fucking annoying, but that one in particular, she is awful. Like, such a slappable face. Do you know what I mean? Just like you sort of just think violent thoughts, especially when she laughs. I just think, oh my god. I fucking slap you so hard.
[00:12:48] Unknown:
Yeah. I'm just looking forward to my Twitter feed being something other than US elections, to be honest.
[00:12:54] Unknown:
That'd be nice. It would be nice. Yeah. You can all pipe down over there. You don't see the Brits talking about it. It's only the Americans that care. Yeah. We never mention it. You never see a Brit ever talking about it. Not even once. No. Judging by some of your DMs in the last couple of weeks, mate, I believe you've been doing some more technical stuff
[00:13:12] Unknown:
around BTC payserver maybe? Yeah. I'm getting quite good at this stuff, you know. Make sure you're sitting down for this.
[00:13:21] Unknown:
I'm starting to, pat myself on the back a little bit because 3 nodes running successfully at the moment, 2 Monero nodes also running successfully at the moment. Wait. So hold on. You've got 3 nodes running. I feel like I've missed a trick here. You've got your start 9, which you fixed. Yeah. I've just got my start 9. I've got my trusty old umbrella as well Okay. Just that sits in the background. Nothing connected to it. But just if things fall over, it just always runs. And if I need to, I can connect to it. And then I've got a new one now running on a virtual machine. Look at you.
I know. So I've got my Bitcoin node running on a virtual machine there. I've got another Monero node running on my start 9 and then another Monero node running in a virtual machine, and it's all now gonna be running a new BTC pay once the Monero node is finished syncing. That's one thing. I'm gonna speak to Seth about this. With Monero nodes is they are fucking slow to sync. Like, I would think I was like, oh, it'd be it'd be quick. It'd be like a faster thing to sync than the the Bitcoin chain. It is not the case. In this virtual machine, it took, I don't know, maybe 24 hours to fully sync the Bitcoin node. That's pretty good. And then it's been another week, and it's still not finished with the Monero node. Oof.
[00:14:40] Unknown:
I mean their transactions are fucking huge.
[00:14:43] Unknown:
So it kinda makes sense, I guess. Yeah. But then the actual amount of data that you've got is smaller. It's like I wanna say it's like 250 gig or something like that, whereas we're nearly a terabyte.
[00:14:59] Unknown:
It must be to do with the verification of each transaction. There must be more computationally taxing. Wow. I fucked that up. Computationally. It must be harder to verify the transaction is what I was, having a very bad stab at saying.
[00:15:18] Unknown:
It must be because, yeah, like I say, 24 hours with the Bitcoin node, and it's been 8 or 9 days now with the Monero node still not done. And the same with the start 9, it was like, you know, like a day ish, maybe 7 or 8 days to do the Monero node. So it's a lot slower.
[00:15:37] Unknown:
Interesting. Yeah. It's not something I've gone through, myself before, so it's nice to hear some kind of hands on
[00:15:43] Unknown:
reporting on that sort of stuff. Interesting. It's easy. Like, no no issues. Just slow. Yeah. So now I've got these 2 running, setting up a new BTC pay because we would we're having problems. So we ended up we didn't have lightning on the store. We were just having problems with it. So I said, fuck it. I'll just start one from fresh. So we're gonna have Bitcoin, Monero, and Lightning all accepted on the store very, very soon. And, yeah, I just feel really cool. I just was sat in a cafe, setting all of it up in the tool browser and building this virtual machine, and everything was paid for with sats and all nice and private and good. And I just thought, I'm a fucking cypherpunk at this point. Bet you walked down from that coffee shop with the spring in your step, didn't you? A bit of swagger. I did, to be honest. I mean, I had to lean on you a little bit, but pretty much, yeah, pretty much all, off my own back. Congrats, mate. That's,
[00:16:40] Unknown:
it's nice to see you blossoming into a a young developer. Flourishing.
[00:16:46] Unknown:
Yeah. Thank you, mate. I have to give you a job soon, I think. Doing the dishes. Tea, bitch. Very good. Drinks managers rather than tea, bitch.
[00:16:59] Unknown:
Nice. Yeah. We, in the company I used to work for before Foundation, they were great at coming up with all sorts of wacky job titles to make people sound way more important than they really were. Beverage manager. Yeah. Beverage manager or, like, waste disposal expert. Anyway, should we hit the news? Yeah. Let's do it. Okay. News flash, mate. Did you know that we don't need to be concerned about Bitcoin held with 3rd party custodians?
[00:17:28] Unknown:
Well, I always knew that. I've always said, you know, just don't worry about it, mate. The messiah has spoken. No need to worry. Quote from the,
[00:17:36] Unknown:
CyberHornet himself, the chief CyberHornet. I think that when Bitcoin is held by a bunch of crypto anarchists who aren't regulated entities, who don't acknowledge government or don't acknowledge taxes or don't acknowledge reporting requirements, that increases the risk of seizure, said Saylor.
[00:17:55] Unknown:
Okay. What a stupid take.
[00:17:58] Unknown:
Yeah. I mean, he's, I I added this to the list obviously just to poke a bit of fun at him. He's obviously mister regulated, mister KYC poster boy. So, of course, he's gonna say stuff like this. And it it obviously wasn't a shock. I just wanted to poke a bit of fun at him. But the sad thing is that people do actually look up to this guy as, like, some form of, you know, expert in the Bitcoin field. And it's sad that he Mhmm. Repeatedly comes out with this sort of stuff. Obviously, he's he's feathering his own cap. He's making sure that his bags are not gonna be, taken away from him or come under scrutiny because he does have some pretty hefty bags. He does.
Well, does he though? He doesn't. He doesn't. Yeah. Exactly. Coinbase or whatever his custodian is. But like he said, you don't need to worry. Custodians are fine. I've technically got more Bitcoin than sailor. Yes. As have I. And I've lost all mine. Yeah. My terrible boat and accident. Yeah. Me too. That's a ridiculous thing to say.
[00:18:57] Unknown:
Yeah. Guys guys, don't listen to the guy. It's all I could say on that one. I've said for a long time and I don't like this whole thing where people are like, you're a spook. He's a spook. Everyone's a spook. Like, everyone's a fucking spook. But if I was the US government and I wanted to have some influence in the space, and I also wanted to have a load of coins without looking like I had a load of coins that I could seize at any moment if I might want to, I might put someone in who might look and sound and be quite similar to that man. Just a theory. Makes sense. It's annoyed a lot of people when I've said that behind closed doors. They get quite upset, but it just seems like it could be quite a good way to accumulate and have a lot of influence.
[00:19:44] Unknown:
Indeed. In other news, a judge in New York has dismissed a defamation lawsuit brought against Chainalysis. And the reason that the defamation suit has been thrown out is under New York's anti slap laws, which are intended to safeguard free speech. Oh, the irony.
[00:20:07] Unknown:
I was just gonna say. Yeah. Exactly. Fuck. So there's some crypto
[00:20:11] Unknown:
company or firm who I've never heard of, called Transac. Basically, Chainalysis, mentioned that this this company, whoever they are, this Transac was could be used for illicit you know, they're dangerous, basically. Don't use them. They could be harboring illicit funds, blah blah blah, all the usual tripe that Chainalysis come out with. And they've took them to court. Transat took Chainalysis to court to say, shows you're working this like this is all bullshit. And the honorable Lyle e Frank of the New York Supreme Court has granted Chainalysis' motion to dismiss the lawsuit filed against a surveillance firm last January.
Talk about speaking out of both sides of your face. That is just absolutely ridiculous.
[00:20:54] Unknown:
That's crazy. Well, this is why you don't keep anything on exchange, and this is why you don't trust in the laws that are supposedly there to protect you. Indeed.
[00:21:04] Unknown:
I I've actually got 2 news items
[00:21:08] Unknown:
mixed together here. So the company that filed the the lawsuit is not Transact. That's Do you know what I was gonna say? I was I was thinking I did I was like, that's weird because they've also had a problem recently. So the the company is YieldNodes.
[00:21:23] Unknown:
They're the people that have sued Chainalysis unsuccessfully. So, yeah. Don't go up against the machine because people are friends in high places, especially when you're the the poster boy of all of their quote unquote witness testimony in these types of cases. Of course, they gotta look after you. Just ridiculous and frustrating. So on to Transac, which again is a company I've never even heard of before, but they are a KYC on an off ramp that serve, I believe, most of the world. They have had a reported data leak affecting 92,554 of their users, which represents about 1.14% of their user base.
The unfortunate customers have had their names, date of birth, all of their ID documents, and all of their selfie photos and videos leaked that were presumably be now on the dark web for sale to the highest bidder.
[00:22:16] Unknown:
Wow. I don't know why it hits harder because it shouldn't really, but the like selfie and video on top just somehow just it's like It's so invasion. Jesus. It's like, really? Because when you open the door, they're like, oh, I've got your name and address. Open the door. Oh, I'm not them. Oh, no. It's fine. We've got your selfie and video. Just to confirm, we're doing our verification process
[00:22:38] Unknown:
here. Bang. Yeah. It's, but it's okay because KYC is designed to keep you safe. Mhmm. Don't worry. They can they can look after all the states so it's it's safe. Yeah. Well, just make sure you pay your taxes because
[00:22:51] Unknown:
when that happens, that leak, and someone turns up at your door, at least the police will be there to save you. Do you know what I mean? Like, you'll open your door, and someone will be there with a fucking hammer, and the police

go, and they'll just save you, and nothing bad will happen. There we go. Problem solved. Yeah. Exactly. The only saving grace, I guess, for these, affected customers is that if they did wanna get that data back, you know, their own KYC data, they could just go onto a dotnet market and buy it with Bitcoin. On to happier news. That's so ridiculous. Yeah. On to happier news. We have another air quote, solo miner, that has mined a BlockMate in the last couple of weeks. And I used air quotes because said solo miner, and you'll have to do the math here for me, has a 150 petahash, which sounds like a lot. That is a lot. Give me that in in like current gen miners.
[00:23:43] Unknown:
A petahash is petahash is a 1,000 terahash I can hear John laughing already. No. I think I'm right. Petahash is is a 1,000 terahash. So it'd be like 10 s 19jpros, Something like that. Okay. So it's okay. Is that right? Terra PETA. I'm gonna have to I'm gonna have to Google it now. How many terahash is a peter hash? Let's have a look. John's gonna be really annoyed that I just didn't back myself here. 1 terahash is 1 petahash. Yeah. Is a 1,000 terahash.
[00:24:26] Unknown:
You'd have to put, like, the lift weight in music over this. Yeah.
[00:24:31] Unknown:
I am right. It's, 10 s 19 j pros would be a petahash. It goes Hash, Keelahash, MegaHash, Gigahash, Terahash, Petahash, Exahash, and Zetahash.
[00:24:43] Unknown:
10 latest gen miners for 1 petahash, and this guy's got a 150. He's a 100 and 50 petahash. Petahash. Yes. Oh. That's a big outfit.
[00:24:53] Unknown:
Yeah. That's massive.
[00:24:55] Unknown:
That's yeah. So they're they've got all of that hash pointed at solar c k pool.
[00:25:00] Unknown:
Absolute balls. That's impr a 150 petahash. That is fucking that's 1,000,000 and 1,000,000 and 1,000,000 and 1,000,000 of dollars worth of, machines, and then you've gotta power them. So, yeah, they're they're not playing around. Well, it's okay. Congratulations, John.
[00:25:15] Unknown:
Yeah. It's okay. They earned a whopping 0.2 Bitcoin in fees as well. Oh. That's all Catan's fault.
[00:25:25] Unknown:
Good to see them doing it anyway. Yeah. Indeed.
[00:25:28] Unknown:
And a fair play for putting all putting all that hash at a solo pool. That's, that is, proper Chad energy. Last piece of news is that I saw a message in the Start9 Telegram group, late last week that they are gonna be closing. Well, I don't know whether they're closing the Telegram group. I presume not, but they're ceasing to provide any support there at all from a from a date that's coming up pretty soon. For obvious reasons, and we spoke a little bit, about this 2 weeks ago on the last show around basically just Telegram, particularly Telegram Groups, turning into a complete cesspit of scammers. And it's almost impossible to protect users in there. So clearly, Start9 have experienced the same things that we have at Foundation. I'm sure most of the other Bitcoin companies are as well. So they put out a message to say, no more support in the Telegram group. And I believe, which is a move I did not see coming, they're moving everything to Matrix.
Which I thought Matrix was like dead. Well, obviously not. Now I understand what on one hand why they would do that because they can self host Matrix. They can have their own servers. They can be the custodians of all that data. Obviously, you know, that's their business model, they sell servers. But the last time I used Matrix in any great detail, and it is probably a couple of years ago now, groups just weren't great. Now maybe that's changed, I don't know. Maybe I'll, when Start Line does move over, I'll, find my way over there just to see how things are performing. But, yeah, it's it makes sense that they're moving to somewhere that they where they can control the users and ban people and stuff. I just didn't expect it to be matrix. So, I'm interested to see how that pans out. But on the surface of it, you know, just just looking at, you know, 10,000 foot view, it makes sense to move away because Telgem is just shit for groups these days. And we at Foundation are doing exactly the same. We're not going to Matrix. I'm currently building out a user forum that we're gonna self host, built on top of them. Well, to be confirmed at the moment, but the one I'm looking at is Discourse. Oh.
No. No. Discourse, which is like proper forum software. So, Start 9 actually already have a discourse forum server, but they I don't know whether they're moving away from that as well. They haven't mentioned it, and so do Umbrel. They've both both got community forums on discourse. So, I think we're gonna have something like that very soon. And we'll be, ideally, we're gonna move the Telegram room to be kind of, view only. So you know how, no bullshit Bitcoin does Telegram, where they just have, like, a a channel where they post and you can comment underneath. But if you're if you're anybody other than Nobleshy Bitcoin, then you can't, like, start a new post or anything in there. So we'll probably keep that open for company updates and stuff and then move all of the kind of community discussions and community support to to a forum where we control it, and we can easily ban people and see impersonators and all that sort of stuff. And, crucially, where members can't DM each other, which is where most of the Telegram scams happen. Yeah. It is,
[00:28:26] Unknown:
terrible. It's like the best place to go if you want to get scammed. Mhmm.
[00:28:30] Unknown:
And it's really sad because, like and I'm sure you're all the same. Like, most of when we all first got into Bitcoin, all of the good communities where I learned loads of my stuff was all Telegram. Yeah. And it's just like starting to get really difficult to find any signal in there at the moment. And I don't know there's other Bitcoin groups that are really feeling the pain as well. I know Sparrow is, coming up against the same issues as well because I'm an admin in that group and just it it's just an unfixable problem, essentially.
[00:28:59] Unknown:
Yeah. It is a shame. But look, this is what mass adoption looks like. People are starting to care about Bitcoin. They care enough to actually want to steal your Bitcoin.
[00:29:10] Unknown:
This is a very good point. Yeah. So stay vigilant if you are gonna stay on Telegram. And a reminder that like I said last week, if you need support, go to the official, you know, every company will have a live chat on their website or they'll have an official email. So if you're scared about getting scammed and you're not sure what to look out for, just go direct. Should we hit some boosts? Let's do it. We're gonna do the usual you do the boost bit, I do the XML bit, or should we do 1 on 1? Let's do 1 on 1. There's not that many. 1 on 1. So top of the list, we have late stage HODL, hello, sir, with 33,333 sats. And he sent an emoji, which I have no idea what it is. Help me out, Max. I think it's like the thing that you'd see on the top of,
[00:29:54] Unknown:
like posh gates and stuff like that, like a guild sort of thing. You know what I mean? Like, if you're in a posh part of London, you'd see it. I don't know what you'd call it, though. It's like an ornamental bit that you'd see on the top of, like, gates and things like that. I don't know what it means, but It also looks like a like a piece of corn on a on a plant before it's been picked. Oh, it does look a bit like that. Well, maybe, late stage Hoddle, you can let us know next time around what you meant there, but we appreciate the stats. I'm sure,
[00:30:24] Unknown:
Ekpatjosic will, school me on that one. He likes his emoji or automatic.
[00:30:30] Unknown:
That's true. Will do. Pies at a pleb, 21,000 sats. Yo. The JK outro is my favorite joint, son. Boyaka, boyaka, brat. And then gun, gun, gun, gun, gun, gun, gun, strong-arm, strong-arm, strong-arm, strong-arm, strong-arm, punch you in the face, punch you in the face, punch you in the face, punch you in the face, fist you, fist you, fist you, fist you. Salute, salute, salute, salute.
[00:31:13] Unknown:
Thank you, Pies. He's back again with 2,100¢. Of course, you 2 British cunts can't answer a mining question. Only a true blooded American can answer that. The illest bra, east of the Mississippi motherfuckers. Pencil, Tuckies finest, you know. Gun, gun, gun, strong-arm, strong-arm, strong-arm, strong-arm, fist you, fist you. Salute, salute, salute, middle finger, middle finger, middle finger, fist bump, fist bump, beers. Mushroom, cigarette, some weird flag that I've never heard of. Looks quite gay to me. Like a socialist flag or something like that. Yeah. England and England flag and British flag equal poop. Okay. Pies.
[00:31:53] Unknown:
If you want us to keep reading all these emojis, you're gonna up your boost game my friend. Oh, I don't know. 21,000 sats is pretty big, mate. Oh, actually, yeah. I apologize. I didn't see the first one. He sort of like evened it around. If they're all like, you know, 210 or 2000 sats, you'd think, oh, fucking hell. This is a lot of emojis, but only 1,000 sats on. I'll take you back. I didn't see the amount of the first one. Thank you, sir. He's not fucking around. Pies again. Excellent rant, my bruh. Beers, mushroom, cigarette, strong-arm, punch you, fist you, gun,
[00:32:22] Unknown:
salute, middle finger, gold medal. He's back again. 420 sound. I can't believe. Bierz, mushroom, middle finger, strong-arm, pistol, salute. Do you think his keyboard's broke? No. He's just he gets very excited. He'll be doing pull ups at the same time as texting. I'm so glad I'm not in a WhatsApp group with him.
[00:32:44] Unknown:
He'd be on the side of a building, up some scaffolding, doing pull ups, smoking a cig on mushrooms whilst sending these messages. Sounds safe. Yeah. That'll be him. Pies again. Boyaka, boyaka, beers, mushroom, middle finger, strong-arm, gun, salute. And, again, JK is dope as fuck, bruh. I appreciate the compliment of how knowledgeable on underground grime I know. Boyaka, boyaca. Beers, mushroom, middle finger, strong-arm, punch in the face, fist you, gun, cigarette, salute. American flag equals gold medal. Fucking hell. British flag, British flag equals shit, And pies one more time. I'll run this out. Fuck a gym.
Nature is the gym. Y'all need to get your rocky shit. Pull ups, push ups, or garage for me. I haven't been to a gym since I was about to smash 2 off duty wise ass cops with a dumbbell because they thought their badge meant they couldn't get got. That was like 10 years ago. Find a strong tree branch and do pull ups, this here we go, I love pull ups, to get some wear and tear on your soft British hands. And that rounds out the Pies is a Club section of the show. Thank you, Pies, for your for your sats and your incredible messages. And your British abuse. Yeah. We love it. Fundamentals, 10000 stats. Stay ungovernable.
[00:34:10] Unknown:
Brackets, I got nothing funny to say. Well, that's fine, and we thank you for your contribution, sir. Chad Farrow
[00:34:16] Unknown:
with 10,000 stats. Great episode, guys, and I'm loving the new schedule. Oh, and Chad Farrow, you've come to the dark side, mate. Jordan bullied me into trying this out, but he sent 0.021
[00:34:31] Unknown:
XMR on the XMR chat. Nice. Seth's been working his way into the the chat, I see. Getting people Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Switched over. I like it. 8 Mythran Deer, 7,777 sats, 3 times over. So 23,331 sats total. And no, I did not just do that maths very quickly. Jordan kindly did it for me. Amith Randir said, Telegram fake support scams are the worst. Anyone who joins the Sparrow Wallet Telegram support group gets inundated with scammers way before an actual admin is available to assist. New users are not aware of this and get easily tricked. Yep. It's kinda what I was saying before, and thank you for your help in the in the Spiro chat. I know you're, literally the hardest working admin in there, so appreciate you, dude. Black coffee with all the sixes. 6,666

sats. Coffee influencer culture exists to get ad revenue and sell you nonsense. You don't need and won't notice. Put hot water on mid range ground coffee and drink. See also saver's comments on hardware wallets. PS, counselor state of mind is one of the best records ever made. Didn't have black coffee down to be a grime kinda guy. He surprises you in in ways that you just you never see it coming. He's just one of the weirdest guys you'll ever meet. That sounds like a story we should share over beers, maybe not live on a podcast. Coffee influencer culture.
I don't know if he's right here. I think that's just that sort of northernness coming through. Like, you can't see the quality in spending money kind of thing. Like, everything has to be the bog standard basic shit.
[00:36:14] Unknown:
Do you know what I mean by that? It's more of like a a northern way, and I can't do his accent. But if you read it in his accent, you'd be like, yeah. That's the sort of thing he would say. Yeah. It is a very northern thing to say. I guess I'd book the trend there because I that that is one thing I don't actually mind splashing out on is coffee. Even well, yeah. With the exception of coffee shops that serve it in, like, a little thimble where it's just like a shop.
[00:36:38] Unknown:
You will splash out on, like, wanky coffee and wanky beers Yes. And see see no problem with that. Correct. And I would say the same. But thanks for the, the sense and the message, black coffee. Thank you, sir. Hope you're well. Fiat demise
[00:36:52] Unknown:
or demise if you're max. XMR chat. Pronounced demise. 0.032xmr. If you're looking for a place to spend your Monero, check out xmrbazaar.com. The Craigslist like site just passed 1,000 listings. Computer parts, cars, Val Venus autograph photos, all kinds of stuff. Nice. You had me sold at valvinus autograph photos, so I'm gonna have to check that.

Jb 399. Hold on. What's 4th oh, we're back into He's combined them all together. Fucking hell, Jordan. Actually, while we're talking about Jordan, he messaged me yesterday to remind me that we need to talk a little bit more about value for value and explain to people why it matters. So this is the little, value for value section now I'm gonna put in here just for you, Jordan. We wanna say thank you to everyone who has been sending in boosts and XMR chats, and just remind everyone how much it helps us grow the show. If you find value in what we do, we ask that, you send back that value. That is the value for value model.
Everyone has a different amount of stats in their wallet, and, we appreciate it all. So if you can think of a number that you think this show is worth to you and you send that on, we would appreciate it. Anything you wanna add there, Q? Feels weird saying that sort of stuff, but I don't fuck with Jordan.
[00:38:18] Unknown:
Yeah. No. Nothing much to add really. Just cosign everything you said. I I frequently go into my Zeus and just scroll through the recent transactions even though I've not kind of instigated any receives, and I just scroll through and I can just see, like, streams of 2 sats, 4 sats, 2 sats, 2 sats. And just aside from the value, obviously, that's really cool that, you know, people value the show enough to be able to send Bitcoin to stream it to us while they're listening to show their appreciation. Obviously, that's awesome. It's just the fact of like it's a feedback loop that if I catch it live and I see those incoming transactions, I know there's somebody out there listening to what we talk about at that moment in time. They're automatically kind of communicating that back to me and I can see that coming into my Zeus wallet. It's just, don't know, it's just a really, really cool feedback loop that's never ever been possible before. So Yeah. Thank you to all those that get involved in that way.

sats sent as a fist bump emoji. Thank you, sir. Vague with 3,000 sats. I heard you can get really fit if you eat only fish and chips. I wasn't sure about this, so I've been testing it for the last week. I'm not sure about fitness. I feel awful because I've been having it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It's starting to wear thin. I feel sluggish and greasy and oily, but I'm gonna continue for the next month, and I'll let you know if I turn into an Adonis or a fat piece of shit. Thank you for your comment, Vic. It's made me think of a question that I wanna pose to the room. You go in the chippy on a Friday night. What is your go to order? What are you getting? I don't go anymore. It's too fucking expensive around here. You go fish and chips. It's you have to take out another mortgage. But if if I was to go and do it, I'd just go simple, mate, to be honest with you. I'd go normal fish and chips, cod and chips, large, obviously, fucking loads of salt and vinegar. Like Oh, yeah. Whatever salt and vinegar they put on, I'd be like, no. No. No. No. Keep going. Can you fucking keep going, please, mate? You have to have it absolutely drenched in both salt and vinegar.
Recently, I always have ketchup, but recently, I will get a curry sauce. There's quite a northern influence in this household, and so I've been sort of lured into this curry sauce nonsense. And as it's always on the table when we order it, I've started to get a bit more involved, and I do enjoy it. Mushy peas, take it or leave it. And then I don't normally have a fizzy drink or any of that stuff because you just feel disgusting when you have it, so I normally just have a water. What about you, mate? Yeah. Being a Northerner, that definitely curry sauce,
[00:40:50] Unknown:
large large chips, large sausage. Please don't clip that out of context.
[00:40:57] Unknown:
Done.
[00:40:58] Unknown:
And, yeah. Again, mushy peas, they can be really hit and miss. Sometimes you go like, if if I go to, like, my not like go regularly, but if I go to like a chip shop that I know and I've been to before and I know they do good mushy peas, then I'll get it. But if I if I go to a new one and they don't and they look a bit like they've been sat there for 3 or 4 days, then ain't gonna happen. It's, it's like Russian rule at mushy peas. I agree.
[00:41:21] Unknown:
But fish?
[00:41:23] Unknown:
I don't normally normally get fish if I go out to an actual restaurant. I don't normally get it from a a chip shop. Okay. Battered sausage. It's just such a shit thing to eat, isn't it? I've never I don't think I've ever tried it. I'd normally just stick with the the normal. Oh, just normal? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Not battered. No. Okay. What about have you ever had deep fried Mars bars and all that? I know that's a Scottish thing. Yeah. The the local chip shot to me when I was a kid before it got taken over and turned into a Chinese restaurant used to do it, but, no. I,
[00:41:53] Unknown:
never tried it. That's proper savage, isn't it? It's just one of those things you've gotta go even further north to get that sort of savage. It's a very Scottish thing. Yeah. You've gotta get into Scotland. I guess, like Newcastle, probably, it lurks in there because that's close enough. But Yeah. The more far north you get, the more savage you get. And when you get right up there, you start deep frying fucking Mars bars and eating those. Americans, if you've got no idea what we're talking about, you need to Google this, and you'll be horrified. Well, no. You're American. You will be horrified. It's probably pretty normal. They'll be like, oh, that looks like an amazing breakfast to give to my children.
[00:42:29] Unknown:
That's awesome, man. Let's add it to the school menu. Yeah. Alpha Momotronic, 1,001 sat with no comment. Thank you, sir. I'm so glad you got this one.

SATs for thee. That's my favorite one of the whole, boost list. Do you get That's for me. Yeah. Do do you get it? Not really. I don't think so. What was the title of the last show? Oh, okay. Very nice. Yeah. Yeah. I like little subliminal messages there. Well done, sir. You won. Yeah. Yeah. Well done. At BTC onboard hashtag lenhance or hashtag CTV 500 sats, and their message is to lightning bolts.
[00:43:31] Unknown:
Jumpspot Julian with 250 sats. Much appreciated when I'm in real life with normies. I feel like Q. When I'm listening to this show, I feel like Max. Talking about grime, I was a big Wiley fan when I listened to music. I've got soft spot for early days of chipmunk. Okay. Wiley's a weird fucking guy though, isn't he? Never been a huge fan of either Wiley or Chipmunk, to be honest. Yeah. They're a bit comfy, but some good music comes out of it. I'll give you that. Right. That's it for the boosts.
[00:44:05] Unknown:
Let's do the updates and releases, shall we? We shall. Starting off with a non Bitcoin one, actually. But it is the reason I've included it is that it references a conversation that we had on the last show when I mentioned about getting my new pixel and with you then had you then had a question around work profiles and things like that. No less than a couple of days after we made that recording, Android 15 was released, which includes a new feature called Private Space. Okay. Which allows you to do all of the same things that we talked about. So separate Google profiles if you wanna use Google stuff, further sandboxed apps, hidden applications, locked applications, all segregated from the main part of your phone.
But you can do that in a way that doesn't need you to switch profiles. So it's all within the same profile. What happens is that when you swipe up to see your app drawer, at the bottom, you'll have your private space where you can include all different files and apps and permissions and all VPN configurations, all that sort of stuff. It's much more easy to access, but still just as segregated. And in fact, the GrapheneOS guys have done a release saying that people should migrate to this versus the profiles because it has better security. Oh. So quite topical, very, cool, and very easy to use actually. You just go to the settings and go to the privacy part of your settings. You'll have a new menu item there that says private space. You can give it its own custom lock. So you can do PIN, password, biometric, whatever you want. And then it's just like an own like a little, sandbox part of your phone where you can go and install or download whatever you want. Safe in the knowledge that it's kind of protected from not only anybody else that's on your phone because it's, you know, that part of your phone is behind a password or a PIN, but it's also, again, further segregated from any existing apps or profiles that you've got on the main part of your phone. So very cool, very topical, so check it out.
I can't stop looking and thinking about ordering 1. I'd like to try and talk you out of it to save yourself some money and some SARTs books. It's so much money.
[00:46:10] Unknown:
Very worth it. It's so much money. What? You want, like a 4 or 5? No. I've got a I've got a Pixel 6 Okay. And I've got a load of Pixel Threes
[00:46:21] Unknown:
and an iPhone. Okay. So I was thinking about just selling all of them and buying 1. Yeah. Go to Mazuma Mobile, put all of those phones in, chop them all in, and you'll have a massive chunk off your Pixel 9. Yeah. That is what I'm thinking. I actually booted up my 6 a this morning because I I'm gonna flash it back to stock Android so I can sell it to one of the recycling websites. I was reminded I I have no idea how I lived with that phone for so long. I was reminded of Really? How terribly slow it was. It's absolutely painful. So, yeah, this further cements that I do not regret my decision. Is it easy to flash them back to stock? I haven't done it for a while, but I don't remember hitting any stumbling blocks last time I did it. I think there is just a a bit like a web flasher that you you download from the Google website. But it's from memory, I think it's like a 15, 20 minute job. I'm gonna do it today, so I'll report back and let you know. Yeah. Let me know because if I do it, I've got like 4 of them to do. Yeah. Should be pretty easy. Just the case of downloading the right bill, locking and unlocking the bootloader. It's basically the same process as the Graphene 1. You just don't use it.
You just don't use the actual Graphene tool. But the way in in which it works is the same. Okay.
[00:47:37] Unknown:
Alright. K.
[00:47:38] Unknown:
Envoy version 1.8.3 and 1.8.4 have been released. 1.8.4, the most recent one is a hotfix that fixed an issue that prevented some users from sending to legacy style addresses which start with a 1 or a 3. That's crept in during 1.8.3 which is the bigger release here which expands the Tor connection stability and also adds increased availability for the ramp, the built in by Bitcoin feature, which again is a KYC service. So be cognizant of the risk before you go ahead and use that if you wanna go down that route. But it's now available in all 50 states of the US. But yeah. Mhmm. The the Tor connection stability is the big one for me here. Much more stable experience. So be interesting to see and get some feedback on. Envoy users that listen to this, let me know how you get on if you're a Tor user to see if it's any any more stable. I think you said this before that it's been more of an issue on iPhones
[00:48:36] Unknown:
because I've never had a stability issue with Tor. Like, I don't know if I'm just really lucky. Like, occasionally very occasionally, I have it's like slow connecting to my node, and it's saying not connecting.
[00:48:50] Unknown:
And I refresh it. And usually, like, 99% of the time, it just works. And then occasionally, I'll close out the app and start it again, and it works. Can you go into your own node over to? Yeah? Yeah. Yeah. So I think most of the problems that we've had are for people that don't have their own node, but they enable Tor and Envoy. So they're routing all the traffic over the Tor network, and then it's coming out by a, I forget what they're called on the Tor network, like an endpoint that goes back to Clearnet. What are they called? An exit node? Exit node. Yeah. They go through an exit node, and then it connects to our default foundation. Yeah. I think it's called mainnet.foundation.xyz, our our fulcrum server that we host. Okay. And I think what the problem was was that that exit node or, obviously, it wasn't isn't one exit node. It changes all the time. That was becoming a bottleneck, and that was causing some drop connections.
So as well as some internal stuff to the app itself and the toll library, we've also now got a default dot onion endpoint for our node so that the connections stay within Tor the whole time. I think that's what's driving most of the improved stability. Whereas if you're running your own node, that's why you haven't experienced it as much because you're just Tor to Tor straight away. Yeah. You're not exiting the network. Yep. Is that why I see a lot of people saying about people should run these Tor exit nodes and that it's important
[00:50:06] Unknown:
and because of that, because there's not enough
[00:50:09] Unknown:
exit nodes that are up or running or something like that? Yeah. I I'm I'm unsure on the the technical details, but, yeah, you you're kind of heading down the right direction in the fact is if you use Tor to visit Clearnet websites, then it it has to go through an an exit node. And there there are some trade offs with that in terms of like not that you can be tracked, but it's there are some trade offs. It's it's the best thing I could describe without trying to tie myself up in knots. Yeah. Well, presumably the person who runs the exit node see your traffic. Well, yeah, but they can't see where it originates from. So they're they're not gonna be able to de anonymize you or anything like that. No. But they can see the traffic.
[00:50:47] Unknown:
See what website you visited. Yeah. Exactly. Yeah. And then the other thing pretty sure I've heard is that you can get in shit for running one of the exit nodes because they'll say, oh, well, you're responsible for that traffic if something bad's happened kind of thing. Is that right? I don't think that would be a stretch to think that law enforcement could say that. I don't know for sure, but seems to be logically something they might throw at the wall. Yeah. Yeah. I wonder if there's a way around there's a bit of a tangent here, isn't it? But, like, I wonder if there's a way around that where maybe people who are running VPSs and they've got Bitcoin nodes on there, whether there was some software that would easily make that an exit node at the same time or or something like that, like, something where it's not actually running at your home. People could pay via lightning to to host these things, and it was like an easy one click, like, do you want to also run an exit node kind of thing? Maybe more people would do it. It would be real. I don't think I would do it at home.
[00:51:45] Unknown:
Yeah. I I agree. It seems like it could be a a good little money spinner, but the technicalities of which to to get that over the line, I'm not sure. Mhmm. Okay. BTP server version 2.0 has been released. Sounds like a big one. We have back end updates, full interface translation, new onboarding flow, and more. So this sounds like a pretty big release. So what's new? Full interface localization. This update enables easy translation of the entire B2.0 back office by consolidating translation strings into a single text box. Pretty cool. Brand new sidebar only navigation, which moves all navigation items into the unified sidebar for a clear and consistent experience. There's a screenshot on the No Bullshit Bitcoin article that you'll find in the show notes, which looks like a big improvement actually. One of the things I do struggle to find sometimes is various different settings of, like, store settings or node settings within BT Pay. So that was, sounds like it's gonna be a positive change. New onboarding flow for new users and point of sale. So this version brings improved onboarding experience and adds personalization features to user profiles, including the ability to upload profile photos and set nicknames, etcetera.
Pretty cool. Yeah. Nice to see the guys, continuing to ship. Oh, new ecommerce integrations as well. This might be applicable to some people. So you can now have it talk to Wix, which I know is a popular website building platform. Mhmm. Vudu, never heard of that one. And BigCommerce. So good to see them continue to expand their kind of integrations as well, which, you know, massively improves the the usefulness of this. You know, if you've got an existing Wix website and you wanna accept Bitcoin, and BC Pay until now wasn't wasn't kind of, available as a plugin, then, you know, generally speaking, you're locked into these website builders. So, you you you know, the the thought of migrating would be untenable for most people. The very first iteration of my website was built on Wix, and I had the horrible realization as I started to learn a bit more that I was locked in. I had to start from scratch when I wanted to self host it. So yeah. What did you move to? Did you do, Jekyll on a VPS. So Jekyll is just like a a framework builder that allows Luddites like me to just type in some simple markdown formatted text and turn it into a pretty looking website using a predefined theme.
Joinster app version 0.1.1, has been released. This is an Android only app, I believe. We mentioned I had a few DMs about this one, that we mentioned a little bit last time. I bet you did. The maintainer of this project actually responded to us on Nosta. Didn't tag me though, annoyingly. So luckily, somebody did tag me in the comments for for feedback. Couple of the criticisms I mentioned last time was that the it's only an Electrum plug in. This was all info I got by going on their website. I said that there was it was only an Electrum plug in, which was all that was available at the time. As we've just mentioned, there's now an Android app available, so correct myself there. It does say on the website that you can try it online, but that button still appears to be dead. So it looks like you have to either use the Electron plugin or test the Android app for now. And I also mentioned that there is no civil resistance at all, which was in the FAQ at the time when I did the research for the question that we got asked on the last show. That mention of civil resistance has just been removed from the FAQs.
But annoyingly, it's not been replaced by anything else. But the creator mentioned something that it does use it does have some form of civil resistance, but unfortunately they've not added it to the FAQ of the website. So to be able to kind of speak on that, I'm struggling a bit. I'm just poking around in their docs. Let's just search for the word civil and see what comes back really quickly. Oh, here we go. Civil resistance, a utdashct is used to increase the cost of civil attacks, and it's a link. So let's have a look what's in this link. Anonymous usage tokens from Curve Trees. Okay. Well Sounds incredibly gay. I I'm not gonna understand that live on the show. Let me just quickly caveat. Okay. Oh, this is interesting.
Everything here is completely experimental and not safe in any way. Importantly, even the underlying curve tree's code was only written as a benchmarking tool, and therefore that is not safe to use in anything remotely resembling a production environment.
[00:56:10] Unknown:
But sounds like you've sorted it then. Yeah. So
[00:56:13] Unknown:
this is an active repository. There's a there was a release in October. So, yeah, this that looks like it's up to date. So again, I I stand by the fact that it looks like it's got some very experimental sybill resistance that I absolutely do not understand. Mhmm. But, yeah, I just wanted to correct myself and notify that there is an Android app available. Haven't downloaded it. I haven't tried it. I'm probably not going to for the foreseeable based on what I've just read in that repository about. But maybe, you know, it it it works on Signet. So if you wanna test it with some worthless Bitcoin, go for it. And, you know, if you do, please let me know how what your experience is like with the Android app. It's the sort of thing that Urban might mess around with. So Urban, if you listen to this and you have fucked around with it, let us know, mate. Sounds good. I think they do have a simplex, chat as well if you wanted to go and ask questions. That'll be, linked in the show notes. Okay.
Bolt's client version 2.1.10 and 2.1.1 have been released. The cool part here is 2.1.10 which includes support for lnurl and lnaddresses when creating swaps. So presumably, again, haven't tested it, but rather than having to generate an let's say you're doing a swap from on chain to off chain, you wanna fill up some Lightning channels. Rather than having to paste in a specific address, in theory, now you can just paste in your lnurl or your Lightning address, you know, so [email protected]. It would send the, you know, the the swapped sats on the Lightning Network to your address without you needing to go and manually create any invoices, which seems pretty cool. I like Boltz.
Yeah. I do. It's, it's a very useful tool. And and the subsequent release was just a a hot fix for a crash that was presumably introduced in 2.1.1. BISC 2 version 2.1.2 has been released. Optimized reputation system and chat consolidation. So what do we have here? Yeah. So it sounds like some UI updates, order book filtering is now easier, chat rooms have been consolidated, and trades up to $25 no longer require reputations, easing entry for new sellers and boosting small trade liquidity. Topic specific chat rooms are now consolidated into chat and support sections, combining public discussions and private chats in one screen. Okay. Pretty cool. I like the bit about tiny trades not requiring a reputation. So if you wanted to become a seller and you you were a bit kind of wary of it, you can now go and do that with 0 reputation up to a value of $25. So that's pretty cool. I like that. Oh, nice. I've just seen some screenshots of the UI. It's looking pretty good, actually. I like that. Very nice. Interesting.
[00:58:44] Unknown:
If I click on the link, will I see it? You will. GitHub.
[00:58:47] Unknown:
Where would I click on anchor? Click on the link in the show notes. Yeah. Don't know. Scroll down on the Noble Ship Bitcoin article. Oh, yeah. Quite nice. What we got next? We have Robosats version 0.71 alpha been released a couple of days ago. Changes we've got here, performance improvements, better and faster web notifications, bug fixes related to caching. You can now disable Android notifications, and you can remove oh they've removed an experimental coordinator. Pretty cool, okay. Shout out Robosats team. Nunchuk version, Android 1.9.53 and iOS 1.9.57 have been released. This includes a revamped home screen and user onboarding experience, which, in my opinion was needed from Nunchuk. It's a very powerful wallet. It can do a lot of stuff, especially great for multisig mobile multisig, but the kind of getting started bit was sometimes a bit of a headache. So, we're looking forward to testing that one out as well.
And allow users to clone a decoy wallet from existing wallets. Allow users to clone a decoy wallet from existing wallets. That doesn't make any sense to me. So again, I'll have to poke around there. Yeah. It doesn't make sense to me either. Next on the list, this one might be of interest to you and certainly will be to Jordan. I fucking hate these names. Why do they why don't they just pick real words? That is a real word. Cascadura. Cascadura.xyz. Cascdr.xyz. Private Bitcoin Payable AI Services. Now I think Okay. From what I can read that this is a a a service that's been around for a while, and the rate the reason it came across my radar was that they've added a couple of new features. Okay. So what you can do here is text to image generation.
You can do chat GPT stuff where we just ask you questions and get answers. You can write summaries and articles from RSS feeds. You've got Jamie, the media assistant, which can transcribe media and instantly instantly create content. You can get podcast transcripts.
[01:00:55] Unknown:
Mhmm.
[01:00:56] Unknown:
And it has a chatbot as well. Pretty cool. I tested this out with a podcast transcript where it basically it's really cool. You can give it an RSS feed, and it will pull up all of the list the the podcast list from, Uncoverable Misfits. You can choose the show, and then say, give me a transcript or give me a summary. And it'll say, okay, great. That's gonna cost you this many sats. Then you pay your sats and you get whatever you ask for, be it a show notes, a transcript, a Twitter post, a summary. It's really cool. It works it's really quite slick. That is cool. Some of them are free as well. So if you wanna go and test it out, some of the the stuff is of zero cost just to wet your whistle. Some of the short stuff like a, you know, a summary of of a podcast, I think that's free. And Mhmm. I just thought it could be useful for transcripts and clips and stuff like that. So might be worth checking out. Might be useful for us. We we spend so much money on AI
[01:01:53] Unknown:
stuff now. Oh, really? So I'm good. I think I do probably about $500 a month at the moment. What? Yeah. For, like, for all the stuff that we have for the show and art and bits and pieces.
[01:02:06] Unknown:
Yeah. Probably about 500 a month. Holy shit. Yeah. It's carnage. But we wouldn't get everything done without it, so it's like, well but I might take a look at this. Yeah. Very worthwhile. You might have to cut this, but I'm gonna do a summary of your last show with John just to see what it comes up with. Okay.
[01:02:22] Unknown:
Loading. English, gentlemen, coaches, America c word a lot. It's
[01:02:30] Unknown:
asking me to pay this time. Okay. One sec.
[01:02:36] Unknown:
Jamie, media assistant. Transcribe media and instantly create content. I'd like if it's got chat gbt. I'd like it if it also had midjourney. That would be useful.
[01:02:50] Unknown:
It does have image production, but I don't know Yeah. Which model it uses.
[01:02:54] Unknown:
Different models are so different. Like, you get used to how to generate and get good with a certain one, and and there's, like, very different, like, styles.
[01:03:04] Unknown:
And then 11 Labs would be another useful one. Okay. So I had to pay 81 p for this summary of John's. So let's see what it comes up comes out with. Okay. Let's see if it's worth 81 p. That's what you pay for a curry sauce probably. I wish. Oh, now it's got an error.
[01:03:21] Unknown:
Oh, that was good. That was worth the money then.
[01:03:25] Unknown:
It's still loading. Give me another minute or so. This this would make great audio. Yeah. Yeah. Good job you can edit. Fuck it. I'm just gonna leave it, and then I'll I can come back to it. That was a good advert for them. Yes. Yeah. Very, alpha at the moment. Okay. Next on the list we have, the guys from Synonym have introduced and again, what is just the name in, guys? Come on. They've introduced pub pubkey, p u b k y. So it's clearly supposed to be pubkey, but they thought, do you know what? Fuck it. We don't need ease. No. No. No. You don't need ease, do you? So it's quote, rebooting the web with user sovereignty at the core.
I'm gonna admit I don't fully understand what this is and how it's cool. Some people are saying it's like a competitor to Nostra, some people are saying it's complimentary to Nostra. Mhmm. But it's kind of designed to allow you to kind of choose and fit your own kind of algorithms as you browse the web and integrate your social graph to that. So it does sound very similar to Nosta. I'm hoping that some smart arse is gonna come up with a comparison table so that I can talk about it quite easily without having to spend 17 hours of my life to understand the differences.
[01:04:45] Unknown:
Yeah. I won't be this is this is a black coffee thing. This is this sort of thing where he'll go either, yeah, it's mint. Or
[01:04:51] Unknown:
Yeah. It's mint. On the last show, we were also, as well as this show, talking about our good friend, Catan. This show, we were talking about him in reference to 1 Stop A Bite. And on the last show, we were talking about his Notebooks video tutorial series. And we told him to pull his finger out his ass and get it done. And you know what? He listened and he's done it. The 2024 version of the Bitcoin Notebooks video tutorial series is now available. It includes let me just see, has he put it into a playlist? He better out of done. Let me see. His YouTube is taking 3 years to load. Oh, he's gone to town on this. So we have 13 videos.
We've got an overview. We've got a WireRunner node. We've got the hardware video. BIOS and operating system installation. No guesses that he's using Ubuntu. Then we've got an Ubuntu familiarization video. Then we move on to installing core. Then we choose an Electrum server. Then we install Electrum Rust server. Why? Why, Catan? Why? He'd probably be a smart ass and I'd be like, actually this is why. And maybe I should just watch the video, but why not fall down? Yeah, probably. Well, do you know what actually, maybe maybe Electrum Rust Server is fine these days now that we don't have Whirlpool because that was the main use case for me was that I had thousands of transactions thanks to all of the remixes. That's true. Electrum Rust Server would just fall over. But maybe if it's just, you know, if you're starting a fresh wallet and you're just doing a couple of transactions a week or something like that, then Legend of Russo is gonna be fine. So there you go. You don't need to send me a message on Signal because I'm being a smart ass, I've just answered my own question. Then we move on to installing Spiro, great choice. Then mempoolspace.
Then we install optional VPNs and Tor. Then there's another optional one where you can do remote access via Tailscale. And then the final video is installing the Ashigaru Dojo video as well. Very cool. He has very much gone to town. And, yeah, good to see. The link will be in the show notes. Have you fucked around with Ashigaru? Not much really. I've got my kind of original samurai wallet loaded into Sparrow, and I don't need it on mobile at the moment. I'm not really travelling much. And when I do travel and I'm spending, I just use Lightning. I'm just kinda waiting to see how the project matures. It's just, you know, a new project that's taken over in a very kind of strange environment. We don't know who's behind it. So I'm just kinda keeping a watchful eye on it at the moment while it kind of matures a little bit. I've got it on my phone on my test phone. I've played around with it. So I know what the the UI looks like and stuff and, you know, it's quickly, you know, heading in the right direction. But I don't know. Just, just seeing how it goes for now.
Okay. Well, on the subject of education, I wanted to signpost people towards a cool website that I found called lenhance.org. Lenhance is a soft fork proposal for Bitcoin and includes 4 significant changes that aim to improve Bitcoin scalability, privacy, and flexibility. Won't go into them all here, but it's just a very simplified website that breaks down all of the changes and how they can come together and what they can do for Bitcoin and other layers if this were to be implemented. The reason I like this kind of stuff is you hear all of the soft walk, you know, the devs waxing lyrical about their soft walk and why it's great on Twitter. And most of it goes way over my head, whereas this nice simple website just breaks it down in a really nice way. And, I'll be honest, it kinda makes me want ellenhance to be a thing. So check it out, ellenhance.org.
Speaking of Ashigaru, Mr. BTC Sessions has also done a tutorial video on Ashigaru Dojo. So So check that one out on his YouTube channel. Although, however, in the last 24 hours, I saw a tweet from him that basically said that it looks like either that video specifically or his account has been shadow banned on YouTube. He was demonstrating that if you copy if you go to his channel and scroll through his videos, you can see this Ashigaru video. But if you copy letter for letter the title of the video, go back to the YouTube homepage and then put it in the search like the exact title, it just doesn't come up. So there's clearly some fuckery at play here. I don't think it's any coincidence that it's, an ashikaroslashsamurai wallet fork that seems to be the cause of whatever YouTube's doing here.
Maybe that's the tinfoil hat in me. But, yeah, it's frustrating. And I don't think it's, a coincidence. I'm just gonna check whether that is still true. I'm just gonna copy it and paste the thing. The title ah, it's back. Okay. Disregard everything I just said. It seems to be a temporary thing and it's now coming up when I search for the, you know, the exact title. So maybe YouTube just hat. Maybe YouTube just put his channel on, like a temporary shadowban for some reason, but it seems to be working okay now. Our good friend, Mr. Seth For Privacy, has updated one of his, best blog posts. It's called Privacy First Steps.
Covers everything from where to go to learn, mobile operating systems, chat thing, privacy browsers, Bitcoin, Monero, password managers. It's like a step by step guide of here's what I use, here's why I use it, and, here's where you can go and download it. So if you're new to this space, especially the privacy space, and you're kind of overwhelmed as to kind of where to get started, this would be a great place to start. So head to sethaphaphrivacy.com. Just go to the blogs and there'll be the most recent one presumably because he's updated it or just check the link in the show notes. And final one of the news list, we have, a link to a demo of, a project, a Nosta based project. Once again, you didn't think I was gonna go the whole show without mentioning Nosta, did you?
Called White Noise. And you might like this one. So up until now, Nosta from a privacy perspective has been pretty shit. Reason for that is it's not designed to be a private network. It's it's a broadcasty wall public network a little bit. Kinda like Bitcoin where you connect to relays and you broadcast everything and, you know, you get consensus by everybody knowing everything, which is great from a persistence or a kind of censorship resistance standpoint. That's kind of the whole point. But it's terrible from a privacy perspective, especially with DMs and stuff like that. The amount of metadata that was leaked from the early, implementation of DMs was basically all of it apart from the content of the message, which were, of course, encrypted.
So there's a very talented developer called Jeff G, that's been working on trying to fix this in a a quite a, well, not quite, a very technical way so that we can have we can benefit from the decentralization and central censorship resistance of Nosta, but not have absolutely terrible privacy in 1 to 1 DMs or in group chats. Seems as though he's almost there with it. He's released a video, which, again, you'll see the link to it in the show notes, of his project that's called White Noise, which is a fantastic name because for an encrypted messenger. So may maybe, some of the other projects that we've mentioned earlier in the show could take a leaf out of his book.
Excellent choice. That supports MLS messaging, which I believe is like the gold standard of kind of large group encrypted messaging. And yeah go ahead check it out. It's not available yet to download and test but as you would expect with all things Nostra related, you sign in with your your NSEK and then you have quite a good looking application considering it's very alpha and not even released yet. Where, you can go and have group chats that are end to end encrypted and have all of the benefits of signal and stuff like that where you've got forward privacy, blah blah blah, but it's built on top of the Nosta network. So excited to see how how this one pans out. But, yeah, very polished from an from a kind of first stab at it type app. Okeydokey, sir. That brings us to the end of the news and the updates and releases. Should we hit the questions? Yeah. Let's do it. I'm gonna allow you to answer the first question first. And it comes from my good friend Orange Surf via a DM. And he said, which improvements or trends are you most optimistic about in the Bitcoin ecosystem?
[01:13:10] Unknown:
Which improvements or trends? I would say
[01:13:14] Unknown:
people focusing a bit more on mining and solo mining. I think that's quite cool. Yeah. And much needed. If you go to member all that space and look at the click on the mining tab, it's quite horrifying, to be honest. The Yes. The amount of centralization that we've got. So I think, yeah, solar mining, it's on a good trajectory, but I think, a promising trajectory. But, yeah, a long way to go, to be able to have any form of tangible decentralization. But, I guess you gotta start somewhere. Just hope it's not too late. Yeah. Anything else?
[01:13:48] Unknown:
To be honest, not not really. That's the most optimistic part. There's a lot of stuff that annoys me. Privacy, fucking awful. Just an absolute shit show. General chat from average Bitcoiners is, just cuckery all the way down. That would be the main one that's given me some hope. And also things like Hashigaru coming out is a step in the right direction.
[01:14:14] Unknown:
What about you? Anything that's, exciting you? Yeah. Very optimistic about what we're working on behind the scenes in stealth mode at the moment at Foundation. Obviously, the nature of the fact that I just said stealth mode means that I can't talk about it, but all will become clear in not that long away actually. We're gonna start dropping some teasers to what we've been working on in a matter of weeks actually. So I'm excited to start the rumour mill churning again. We have been very hard at work in Foundation HQ for quite some time now, so it's I'm looking forward to seeing the fruits of our labor start to pay off and people start to be able to appreciate that. But in terms of stuff I can actually talk about, number 1 would be Lenhance actually. And and this is a new thing for me, thanks to this lenhance.org website. But, I get and I'm well aware that this is a software proposal. It's not guaranteed. We may never even see it. But, it seems to be a kind of like a nice balance of improvements without going full reckless in terms of, oh, let's do OPCAT and open all of the doors and, you know, let the developers figure out whether or not it's gonna break shit in the future. It seems to be, from the way I can see it, a great increase in what we can achieve like LNCIMmetry, non interactive channels, payment pools, or channel factories, vaults, CTV, all that sort of stuff without having, you know, the kind of the reckless part of it. That's my view as a non developer. So don't shoot me down if you're a developer and be like, actually, blah blah blah. Actually The other one I'm very optimistic about is we are finally getting some good UX and design around Bitcoin projects, mainly like mobile wallet stuff. Obviously, I'm very bullish on Envoy, and I think we do a great job of, like, onboarding and making mobile wallets and and hardware wallet companion applications much more intuitive and much more normally friendly. Most people listening to this will look at it and be like, well, it's just a simple wallet. But when you look at it from the the viewpoint of somebody that's just taking their first steps in, I think we've we've done a lot to kind of lower the barrier to entry. And we're not alone there. You've got wallets like Phoenix that make self custodial lightning very easy. You've got wallets like Zeus that have vastly improved their user experience and their functionality at the same time. Like Zeus' it's a Swiss army knife. If you wanna be very simple and use it in a kind of semi trusted relationship with an LSP like you do with Phoenix, you can do. If you wanna be super advanced and connect it to your 4 different nodes, you can also do that as well all within the same user interface. And it like like I said, they've done a great job of of simplifying that and unifying it. So optimistic about UI and stuff.
Still like Jam. I think Jam, the UI that they've built around join market was much needed for quite some time. Doesn't fix some of the problems around cost and stuff that are inherent to Jam protocol itself. But again, having that polished UI is a big improvement. And the final part I'll say around UI is like notes, the start 9 UI, the Umbrella UI. That's true. Again, it's really lowering the barrier to entry so that people who you go back only 5 years, like nobody's gonna get in a command line and install a Raspberry Pi blitz if unless they are very, very interested in this sort of stuff. But Mhmm. Would somebody buy a box for 4 or $500 and plug it into an Ethernet cable and a power cable and then navigate the beautiful UI of a Start9 or a Umbrel? Yes. Quite easily. So that's the type of stuff that I'm really, really optimistic about. And, again, we've we're still just scratching the surface, I think. We there's still a long way to go, but we've made great strides.
[01:17:53] Unknown:
That's true, actually. I was maybe a bit too negative. I was thinking this weekend, I'm setting someone up who is taking their Saks off exchange, and I'm not concerned about the process and set them up with a passport and sit there for an hour or 2 tops to go from start to finish and just, you know, like it's not tough. Whereas 5 years ago, it wouldn't even cross my mind to think about trying it with this person. Whereas now I'm like, yeah. That'll be fine. We'll do that. Yeah. Definitely.
[01:18:25] Unknown:
And the final one to sign off for me would be the Bitcoin usernames BIP. I forget what the number is now. I think it might be 353 maybe. That, in combination with bolt 12 and silent payments. Because when used in combination, I won't go too deep into it, it allows you to have [email protected], which could if you use it in an applicable wallet that is able to speak this BIP, which hopefully will be all of them in the future, you will then have a choice of, okay, well, you scan Max's QR code or you just type in [email protected]. It's like, okay, great. How do you wanna pay him? Or how much do you wanna send? And then if it's over under a certain threshold, or what it could be like, okay, lightning's best for that. I know that [email protected] has a alt 12 reusable invoice. So it automatically pings your node, generates an invoice, and they just say, okay, send Max 5000 Sats automatically.
Underneath that username, they could also have a silent payment address. And then if it's like $100, then they send it on chain. Again, automatically, all the user does is say, I wanna pay Max on governable misfits.com this much money, and then the the wallet just does all of that shit in the background. Yeah. That's cool. So hopefully, we see a proliferation of that. And if we do, we, again, move a step closer to making Bitcoin wallets feel like what the normies are used to, their banking apps, where they just poke their friend's face and say, send him $10. Okay. Zayton on Nosta asks, obtainable privacy level of CoinJoin through Wasabi versus Jam? I would say go back and listen to the previous show because correct me if I'm wrong, Max, we covered that last time. Mhmm.
Nero on Twitter, please speak on the Cardano layer 2 by Bitcoin OS. No. The opinions are all over the place and would love more insight on the possibilities. Yeah. Sorry, Nero. It just screams of affinity scam, and I'm just completely uninterested in even exploring it if it's got anything to do with Cardano.

Although, I really like Charles Hoskinson. I think he just seems like a stand up guy. Like, if there's anyone in this industry that I'd just love to have a beer with, it would probably be him. Well, you'll be on your own now, my friend. What a go. You'll be on your own now. Yeah. No. We're not covering that sound shit.
[01:20:43] Unknown:
Okay. We have Cortic on Twitter. It's a season to run a miner, aka heater. Anyone running a lottery solo miner, ULRATCHER, or BIT Chimney single board ASIC. What do you think? Ullracha.
[01:20:57] Unknown:
Ullracker.
[01:20:58] Unknown:
Oh, you're the mining guy. It is the season. In my defense, Cortic has actually spelt it Ullracha, so I read it as I've as it was typed. Okay. Fair enough. We'll let you off. So what are these things? I've I've I think I've heard a bit chimney, but give me a quick TLDR.
[01:21:13] Unknown:
Well, so you've just got varying degrees of what you could buy to run to heat your home. So obviously, you can run an older style miner or just like a, you know, like an s 9 or s 17, s 19, whatever. You can run something like that. Or you can build there's a variety of different prebuilt heaters, like a bit chimney and these kind of things where much quieter. You can have them in lower power mode, and you could just have them running in your home not noticed by anyone, basically. It's not gonna be, like, whirring away, making a shitload of noise. I'll send you quickly altatech.iobitchimney.
Just load it. Let me just send it to you in Telegram. I got it. I can see it. Oh, you got it already. So something like that where it's not plastic shitty stuff like you'd normally see on a lot of these builds. And you can just plug one of those in and run one of those in your office or in your house and heat your home. And it's all, like, predone for you, so you don't have to, like, mess around and build something yourself and change fans and, you know, do too much. Like, it's pretty simple. Just plug and play. There's even, like, little things where you can put your coffee mug on and it will heat that, you know, just smaller machines for doing smaller bits of heating. And I think it's cool. Like, not everyone wants to tinker and build stuff from scratch, same as the nodes.
Not everyone wants to 3 d print parts and change things and mess around to get it quiet enough to run at home. They just wanna plug something in and at work, and that's the type of thing that will do that. Nice. Yeah. I'm just looking at normal mode, 49 decibels. That's a lot quieter than I thought it was gonna be, considering it's got
[01:23:00] Unknown:
a s 19 k Pro, like a proper miner in there. Yeah. So you're getting
[01:23:05] Unknown:
30 1 terahash. Terahash or 30 yeah. Depending on which one you do, high power or normal mode. So that's what, like, 50 bit access. Yep. Kinda makes it look cheap then, doesn't it? Well, that's it. Yeah. Like and so that's the s 19 k pro or you go for the s 21, and that on high power mode does 55 terahash, 18 joules per terahash. So that's pretty incredible, really. That would be a better buy if someone wants to actually be, like, half serious about, like, heating their home and doing some solo mining. You'd be better off with that than a load of BitAxis.
[01:23:42] Unknown:
Yeah. Yeah. Interesting. Okay. There you go. Cool. Final question. Lion on Twitter. What are good payment methods to acquire Korn on Robosats in the UK? Looking at ease or privacy, etcetera. If you want the easiest method, then get yourself an account with a bank that allows you access to multiple different currencies like something like Revolut or or, like Monzo might do the same. I don't think Monzo does the same. I think it's only Revolut. Okay. Well, Revolut would be a good one then. The reason I say that is rather than limiting yourself to pound sterling market, which isn't great most of the time, you can, you know, deposit 100, £200 into the Revolut, switch it over to Euros, and then basically open yourself to the entire European market. So rather than looking at a handful of offers, you then have potentially 100 available, obviously, depending on what's available at the time. So that would be the easiest way to do it because, like I say, you just open yourself to it essentially the whole global market on Robosats. Mhmm. Obviously, there's trade offs to that. If you start to do larger amount, Revolut might start asking questions on why you're sending random euros to random people at random intervals.
If you do smaller amounts, then maybe that's gonna fly under the radar. Again, it's it's the banking system. Nobody can say for sure. From a privacy perspective, I guess the best way to do it would be something like Amazon gift cards maybe. But, again, you're limiting yourself to a what is already a small or thin market, you're limiting yourself to a single payment method. So you're gonna have to wait longer for somebody to take your trade or for somebody to come along with a trade pair that you're happy with in terms of, you know, okay. Great. I'm selling some Sats, and I wanna take an Amazon gift card, but they might have a massive premium on top of that.
Whichever, method you take, you're, again, sliding on that spectrum of, do I open up the global market with some trade offs of, yes, I've gotta interface with the banking industry, or do I pigeonhole myself into only using something like Amazon gift cards and I'm happy to wait like a week before I get the right trade come up across my table? I don't see the point in,
[01:25:54] Unknown:
you can correct me where I'm wrong here, but I don't see the point in doing that and having then Amazon gift cards and stuff even though it's the most private way that you could do it if you're using something like Robosats. Why wouldn't you just use bit refill or equivalent? Like, cut out that extra step. You can just buy a gift card for Amazon or a 1,000,000,000 other things if you're selling some stats.
[01:26:19] Unknown:
Because from a seller perspective, you can get a premium on that. So if you're in it to kind of make money Oh, okay. So rather than me let's say I wanna sell a $100 worth of sats and I need an Amazon gift card. If I was was to just buy an Amazon gift card with the Sats, then I get a $100 worth of Amazon stuff. But if I do it on Robo Sats with a 10% premium, then I get a $110 worth of Amazon gift cards. Obviously, that's a simplification, but you get what I'm trying to Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I get what you mean. Okay. Yeah. Fair enough. I was only thinking about it from a privacy
[01:26:50] Unknown:
perspective. I was like, yeah. You know, gift cards are gonna be more private, and then I wasn't really thinking about the premium. But, otherwise, no matter what you do, you pretty much it's gonna be like revolute. And then I would only say just be careful with how much. Maybe use that as, like, a separate banking app where you just do these smaller amounts on there and then take your, slave notes into cold storage, effectively take them off that banking app because what they can do is they can hit you with a request for more info, and it will be, like, hundreds and hundreds of pages with your inside leg measurement and everything else. Otherwise, they block you. So I would probably say just be careful because that might happen. Yeah. Definitely don't do it from your main bank account. No. Other than that, I would say get to know a miner. Get friendly with them. Yeah. Get to know a miner. Or just people who need to sell, like people who get paid in Bitcoin and need to sell to live their lives. There's enough of them out there. Yeah. Absolutely. Good advice.
[01:27:50] Unknown:
Okay, mate. That's the end of the notes. Any other business before we sign off?
[01:27:56] Unknown:
Not from me. What about you? No. I think we're all good. Lovely. Alright, mate. Well, I will catch you on the next one. Thanks, mate. Catch you later.
