This week on Two Grumpy Vets, the three of us catch up after a wild couple of weeks. I share the saga of my blue-screened laptop and migrating to Linux, plus a big ham radio win: new antenna, long-distance QSOs to Scotland, Russia, Italy, Spain, New Zealand, and even the North Cook Islands—all while gearing up for a 48-hour contest. We also swap stories from Cruisin’ The Coast, where 10,334 registered hot rods turned the Gulf Coast into a rolling car museum and we watched old-school gassers tear down the strip from 30 feet off the finish line. Bryan opens up about a serious family development as his daughter leaves an abusive situation; we discuss trauma bonds, boundaries, and practical next steps. We riff on balanced budgets, shutdown spin, daylight savings time (abolish it!), winter temps, and a dog named Bella who can clear a patio wall like an Olympian. We close with show updates: growing UK listenership, download spikes, and how you can support via time, talent, or treasure—no sponsors, just three vets talking life and laughing through it.

Hey, man. Hello, and welcome to Two Grumpy Vets and a Duuude, this is a show that each week allows for three friends to get together and live life intentionally. We do this by throwing a little social commentary with our own weird sense of humor and our thoughts together to show folks that living having weekly conversations is a good way to help each other out, help men become better men. And so now on with the show with Bryan,
[00:00:31] Rich Chelson:
Rich, and the dude. Hey. Closed captioning is turned on.
[00:00:39] Duuude-Ron :
What's up, dude?
[00:00:41] Rich Chelson:
Not much. Oh, hello. I thought I had it connected to the right damn headset.
[00:00:46] Duuude-Ron :
And you don't?
[00:00:47] Rich Chelson:
I didn't. I do now. Alright. Because now I can hear you through my headset. It's, it will sound come through a little better. So Okay. Gonna sound even better here in just in about, fifteen, twenty minutes because I'll be over at the, over at the trailer, and I can hook up to, the Procaster.
[00:01:07] Duuude-Ron :
Oh, okay. Cool.
[00:01:09] Unknown:
So
[00:01:11] Rich Chelson:
so how are you holding up today?
[00:01:13] Duuude-Ron :
Oh my god, dude. Last two weeks have been fucking bonkers. Oh. And I I I mean, bonkers all the way around because well, before cruising the coast, I don't I don't I don't know if I told you, you know, if I got to tell you. I was I was messing around with a new, software. Right? Pro Tools for for audio.
[00:01:42] Rich Chelson:
Oh, okay. So new new, editing software.
[00:01:46] Duuude-Ron :
Yeah. Yeah. And, yeah, I didn't like it because because, come to find out, it it it it it commanded every resource my laptop could give it, and it still wanted more. Oh, yes. Yeah. I was like, no. No. I'm good. So I remove it. Right?
[00:02:07] Rich Chelson:
K.
[00:02:08] Duuude-Ron :
Blue screen of death.
[00:02:10] Rich Chelson:
After you removed it?
[00:02:11] Duuude-Ron :
After I uninstalled it, I I went to restart it and got the blue screen of death. And I was like, you no way.
[00:02:21] Rich Chelson:
So what what was the what brand was this was this, was this was this software?
[00:02:28] Duuude-Ron :
Windows 11?
[00:02:29] Rich Chelson:
No. I mean I mean but what software did you install? Editing software did you install that once you uninstalled it went it it
[00:02:39] Duuude-Ron :
it jacked all your all your
[00:02:41] Unknown:
all your your system files up.
[00:02:44] Duuude-Ron :
Avid Pro Tools.
[00:02:46] Rich Chelson:
Oh, Avid Pro Tools. Okay. Okay. Yeah. And I just got Pro Tools, and I was like, oh, on Pro Tools. Pro I've never heard of Pro Tools. Who makes Pro Tools? Avid. Yeah. Yeah. The Avid editor that, that most Hollywood would used to use.
[00:03:03] Duuude-Ron :
Well, it's a it's an audio editor. It's it's a really full featured, audio editor. You can Oh, no. It's it's high quality shit. But, yeah, just don't uninstall it and make sure that's the only thing that's on the freaking computer.
[00:03:19] Unknown:
So Yeah. Well, Abbott I think it was,
[00:03:22] Rich Chelson:
even I mean, they people would use Abbott for from video, movie editing, on top of that. So apparently, they've gone through and have separated out the audio side so that people could actually work on the on the audio portion, of it. But yeah. Yeah. Avid, well, everything was understood was a was a beast when it come to to resources.
[00:03:46] Duuude-Ron :
Oh, it still is.
[00:03:48] Rich Chelson:
It still is. It still is. Yeah. Pissed off. It fucks your system up when you try to say, never mind. I don't wanna use it.
[00:03:56] Duuude-Ron :
Yeah. Well, that's exactly what it did. And and this all happened, like, the Friday or Saturday. Well, dude was coming down today. It was happened when it happened. And so I was able I I had tried to go through Microsoft to get my copy of Windows 11 down. I I couldn't do it. I had to go through my computer manufacturer, Asus, and get a fresh fresh total copy of Windows 11, like like the laptop came right off the showroom floor. Oh my god. So I was like, you know what? Screw that shit. And and my laptop over here that I used for AM radio, the same day, the same weekend. Okay?
For some freaking reason, the power jack didn't wanna fucking work.
[00:04:48] Unknown:
I don't know. Thing anymore.
[00:04:50] Duuude-Ron :
And so I only I could turn the laptop on long enough, get a few files off, and then that was it. Now I could charge it back up and then turn it on, have about thirty minutes to get anything else off. And finally, I just pulled it out, and, I was I was working on setting up another, you know, one of my older computers I have.
[00:05:15] Unknown:
Right.
[00:05:17] Duuude-Ron :
For for my ham radio. And so so I was basically broke, Dick, for over a week because, well, a dude came down, and we did cruise in the coast and everything like that. And, I mean, there was no time to do anything there. Right. Yeah. So so all of last week, I managed to get some working resemblance on both of these computers. And, yeah, it's it's and I've been playing radio because dude and I got that in got this antenna up I built. Oh my god. Best fucking thing
[00:06:01] Rich Chelson:
that is Talk to a next door neighbor from around the world,
[00:06:05] Duuude-Ron :
Due this morning, my first six contacts, none of them were in The US. I had Scotland. I had two European Russias, which that's on the Western Side of Russia. I had in Italy. I had Spain and oh god. Fuck. One or two more. And that was just shortly after I got up this morning.
[00:06:30] Unknown:
Oh, I know. That what which megahertz were you running? Was that the 10 band?
[00:06:35] Duuude-Ron :
Yeah. 10. 10 meters was yeah. Mostly 10 meters. I think I think I jumped up on twelve twelve meters, and I didn't do much up on 20 or or, 40 meters. I mostly stayed on seventeen, fifteen, twelve, and ten today.
[00:06:53] Unknown:
And And ten and ten, if I remember correctly, you couldn't get it all with your previous setup. You couldn't get anything on 10.
[00:07:02] Duuude-Ron :
No. No. No. No. I I mean I mean, I'm freaking busting pile ups up. Okay? I mean I mean, Scotland giving me a five eight signal. Yeah. Oh, wow. Yeah. Yeah. 59 is the best. Okay? Russia. Dude from Russia. Well well, actually, 5920 is the best, but the dude from Russia, what's his name, Dimitri, he freaking gave me a 5910. You know? And I'm, you know, I'm sitting here in Mississippi right on the Gulf, fucking talking to European Russia, man. I was like, oh my god. 10,000
[00:07:42] Rich Chelson:
watt.
[00:07:46] Duuude-Ron :
I actually I well,
[00:07:48] Rich Chelson:
you see the thing I thought 10,000 watt?
[00:07:51] Duuude-Ron :
Well, it it somewhat kinda seems like it because this antenna does does show a little bit of gain my way. And Okay. With my 200 watts, it it it actually, on 10 meters, it gives me about 300 watts going out. 20 meters, it gives me, like, almost a thousand going out.
[00:08:15] Rich Chelson:
Alright.
[00:08:16] Duuude-Ron :
Yeah. So so, I mean I mean, in fact, I just talked to, oh, see, one of them was, Madera Island earlier, and I got oh, oh, last week, I got one. He was somewhat down in my noise, but I could hear him. I got the North Cook Islands. I didn't even know where the hell they were at. I had to look them up. Right? They're 2,147 miles south, almost due South of Hawaii, out in the middle of freaking nowhere in the ocean. And I was like, oh my god.
[00:08:55] Unknown:
How far away is it from Guam?
[00:08:57] Duuude-Ron :
Fuck. I know. I didn't I didn't look. I can look real quick. I mean, I was just I was just because I had never heard of him, and, there's a a DXpedition there.
[00:09:09] Unknown:
Oh, okay.
[00:09:10] Duuude-Ron :
And so I heard him. Like I said, he was quiet, but I could hear he was clear, and I could hear him. And so I I called out to him and first call, boom. He he freaking caught me. You know? And I was like, fuck yeah.
[00:09:27] Unknown:
I was like, that that's fucking awesome.
[00:09:30] Duuude-Ron :
Let's see. Where's it at? The Cook Islands. Oh, there there it is. It's just to the east of of, see, Americans see us see us. Americans, Samoya.
[00:09:46] Unknown:
Samoa. Yep. Okay.
[00:09:48] Duuude-Ron :
Yeah. So, yeah, it's not far from Fiji. Yeah. Or Tonga or whatever. But still, I had never heard of them. You know? Yeah. And so yeah. And I also talked to New Zealand. I mean, this has been this has been just a freaking crazy ass ass last two weeks because I've been prepping for I have a contest. Say from my house to the North Cook Islands is 5,854.68 miles.
[00:10:21] Rich Chelson:
Boy, I can't take a day off. Walk over there.
[00:10:24] Duuude-Ron :
Yeah. Yeah. It would take a day or two. But
[00:10:29] Unknown:
And and it and it reaches speed, probably take three.
[00:10:35] Duuude-Ron :
Yeah. Probably so. But, yeah, there's a there's a big major contest this weekend that, I've been getting ready for for two weeks now.
[00:10:46] Unknown:
I thought you had one last weekend as well.
[00:10:50] Duuude-Ron :
Not last weekend. Did I? Oh, yeah. I think I blew that one off. Oh, okay. Dude, you fucking wore my ass out. I was tired.
[00:11:00] Rich Chelson:
I was tired. I was tired. That's what I was hoping to hoping to catch. So let's get a full report of the cruising cruising on the coast event that, that you and the dude went to. So what what was this so what happened?
[00:11:17] Duuude-Ron :
Well, dude dude, go ahead and give your take on cruising the coast. At least My take on cruising
[00:11:24] Unknown:
my take on cruising the coast.
[00:11:26] Rich Chelson:
Alright. Well,
[00:11:28] Unknown:
with it being what was what was the final count? 10,373? Yep.
[00:11:35] Duuude-Ron :
Three thirty four. Ten thousand three thirty four.
[00:11:39] Unknown:
Okay. So, basically, a shitload of fucking hot rods, rad rods, originals, you name it. They freaking had it, or somebody created it. And the next one was even more cooler than the previous one. So they were, what, Pascadoula is how far away from Base base Base Saint Louis?
[00:12:05] Duuude-Ron :
Oh, Base Saint Louis, it's it's about about 50 miles from Base Saint Louis.
[00:12:11] Rich Chelson:
It's about an hour.
[00:12:13] Unknown:
So 50 within 50 miles, you have a freaking car show at every small between Bay Saint Louis and fucking Pascagoula. So 50 miles of citywide car shows. And what was it? The first one that we went to what what city was that, Rich, that we went to the first one? Oh, shit. That was my point, wasn't it? Yeah. That was the one that we saw that that you got the real good video on the Radrod and her and his wife's pickup truck that was sitting right behind it. Yeah. Yeah. That was Moss Point. Okay. So what would you guesstimate? Several 100 cars at that one?
[00:13:01] Duuude-Ron :
Oh, yeah. I would say I would say a good two two fifty, 300.
[00:13:08] Unknown:
Yeah. And that was just at Moss Point. And you little throughout each day, all of them were freaking packed. So that one had about 200, 250. And we didn't get to see them all because we just walked down the street. We didn't walk into the field where the rest of the car's at.
[00:13:31] Rich Chelson:
You just saw the saw the window dressing. Yeah.
[00:13:36] Unknown:
And nothing on Ridge. I understand. And it's you know, it is that was freaking probably the length on the street was about five city blocks.
[00:13:49] Duuude-Ron :
It was about rough I'd
[00:13:51] Unknown:
say Go ahead.
[00:13:53] Duuude-Ron :
I'd say roughly that that stretch was probably close to a half a mile just on the street.
[00:13:59] Unknown:
Yeah. Just on the street. So you go down it. There's cars on both both sides and just enough room on the street to get a flow of vehicles going through. And it had to be real slow because you hit the pedestrians that were walking around, not paying attention, you know, looking at the cars. And then a half mile back, roughly, on both sides of the street
[00:14:26] Duuude-Ron :
And then the middle now.
[00:14:28] Unknown:
Yeah. Both sides. Yeah. You had both sides and then you had the middle. That's what I was saying. So you walked down, In the middle was each side of the road had its own. So you had four rows of cars for half mile. Plus the ones in the field. That was day one. Yeah. Day two day two, we went over to get where the hell do we go day two?
[00:14:55] Duuude-Ron :
We just went out to the day two? Or trying to go to cruise central yeah. Fucking line for that bitch was, like,
[00:15:03] Unknown:
four and a half hours long. And that's just how loud it is. Oh my god. Yeah. That that line to get in to Cruise Central just to cruise around for the hot rods because the daily drivers didn't get to go in there. Oh, okay. One was probably that line was easily a mile and a half, two miles just to get in. And there were people that hot rods that had their doors open because they're not running some of these cars ain't running any air conditioning. Nope. They ain't got air conditioning. Quite humid now. There was a lot of them that did. And, you know what? If I ever have a hot rod, the motherfucker will have a it may not have a fucking alternator or a battery, but the motherfucker's gonna have AC.
That's how high on the priority list AC is. I mean, there were some cars that were overheating that had the hoods up, shut down. There was a couple of them that had to get pushed out of line because they shut down and overheated. So it like I said, that one was one to two miles. And then I think that day, we didn't go into any car shows because Pascagoulas was
[00:16:23] Duuude-Ron :
They were went
[00:16:25] Unknown:
Wednesday, wasn't it?
[00:16:27] Duuude-Ron :
I think so.
[00:16:28] Unknown:
So we went out just cruising on Tuesday. That's when we got our T shirts.
[00:16:35] Duuude-Ron :
Yeah.
[00:16:36] Unknown:
And no. The hats. That's when we got the hats because we had to go over by cruise central, and we took the freaking
[00:16:44] Duuude-Ron :
the shuttle from the parking garage over there. Yeah. We got smart because the line was so long. We said fuck it.
[00:16:51] Unknown:
Yeah. You you weren't you weren't finding any place to park, period. So so we cruised up to Bay Saint Louis and saw hot rods between every place. And then Wednesday, we went to Pascagoula. That one probably had, you know, probably about a 100 cars at that one and walked through that one. And then Thursday Thursday, we went to what the hell was the name of that freaking city? It started with a c. That's the one that's the one that had the the antique ice cream maker. That was Ocean Springs, wasn't it? Yeah. That was Ocean Springs. That was Saturday.
[00:17:39] Duuude-Ron :
That was Saturday. Remember? Ocean Springs was? Yeah. No. Well, I mean I mean, Ocean Springs carried three days as well, but we went on Saturday to Ocean Springs. Because remember after that first street, when we got back to the main intersection Yeah. I said I was going back to the Jeep because I I just couldn't walk no more.
[00:18:01] Unknown:
Yep. Okay. So and then Thursday and Friday were a blur as far as what we no. We didn't go to see anything on Friday. We just cruised around because then Friday night was the gassers down at the drive strip. Yep. Yeah. That was fucking awesome.
[00:18:23] Duuude-Ron :
Yeah. We were, like, we were, like, right at the finish line at about 30 foot off the guardrail. Yeah. Wow. No fence, man. Yeah. I mean, dude, it was fucking awesome.
[00:18:36] Unknown:
That is the closest you could park when we got there. There was where you could park your vehicle and be on the strip. Yeah. That was about 30 feet from the finish line. And and And that and that drags a quarter mile.
[00:18:53] Duuude-Ron :
And, and, thing is when we got there, there was probably another 15 or 20 vehicles that fucking parked
[00:19:02] Unknown:
on further down from us. Yeah. Path past us. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And by that time, the the last of the vehicles, because it kinda made an angle so everybody could see, The last vehicle was, like, two feet. We're about 30 feet off the guardrail. The last vehicle was two feet off the guardrail. I mean, they were, like, right there. Some of that. Yeah. Yeah. We got to see we didn't get to smell the burnouts, but we got to see the speed and the final outcomes. Hi. Which was freaking just I tell you what. Too bad I didn't win the lottery, like, a month previous because I would've needed a one of the one of the large car car haulers at haul eight to get my shit back home.
Because that one that we posted that what was that? A 32 coupe for that first one that we talked to the owner? It was somewhere within that range. It was somewhere within that range, but he was running a big block with a six seventy one wind blower running a thousand horsepower. He said he'd sell it for a 110,000. I'm like, really? I'm surprised you're selling it for so low. I would have bought that one. I wouldn't have cared the price. I would have brought cash. I would have bought his his wife's. I would've bought that green gasser that was for sale for a $130,000.
Yeah. And then that Ford pickup with the freaking big block in the in the back end of that pickup, that one was actually for sale. I would have bought that one as well, a minimum of those three. And then, shit, they probably had several and we didn't even go to the auction No. That they were bringing cars in. Yeah. So we didn't even go to that event, but they probably had No. That would have been cool to see,
[00:21:20] Rich Chelson:
just to watch p to see people buying car spending absurd amounts of money on cars.
[00:21:28] Unknown:
Well, I I watch it every year with the Barrett Jackson Auto Auction, the one in Scottsdale that they have in January. Oh, yeah. Yeah. I wish I had some of those fucking people's money because Me too. Batmobile the Batmobile went went through Barrett Jackson about four years ago, and they stopped the company because it was between two people. And both of them were representatives of the actual buyer. They stopped at $5,000,000.
[00:22:11] Rich Chelson:
Was this the Adam West version or the Yes. That was the buttons?
[00:22:16] Unknown:
No. The Adam West number one Batmobile. Nice. The first one ever produced. They stopped it at $5,000,000, and those two guys went to no negotiate of who was gonna get it. The guy that got it had built onto his house a room for that car. So he just had fucking real stupid money.
[00:22:47] Rich Chelson:
Oh, yeah. He did.
[00:22:48] Unknown:
And then the next vehicle that came up for auction was an RV that was a prototype that looked like the front of a train that had a huge fucking just one headlight like a train, and then the cab was over that. That went out for 4 and a half million dollars to the same buyer. So with commissions and all that, he just spent, like, 11, almost $12,000,000 on two vehicles, but we regress. So that was an anorexiting auction. But, yeah, no. We didn't go to the auction because I would've just been even more heartbroken because I didn't have any money in my pockets, you know, to be able to say, just get one bid in.
Yeah. No. They don't like that kind of shit. So oh, man. It was a fucking awesome time. That and I got to meet Bella. By the way by the way, how many days did it take her to figure out, Rich, that I wasn't gonna be coming back?
[00:24:04] Duuude-Ron :
I'd say probably by about noon, Monday. She was pretty much she's like, okay.
[00:24:12] Rich Chelson:
He's not because Oh, he's gone.
[00:24:15] Duuude-Ron :
Yeah. She'd run out and look. And I said I said, sweetheart, he Ron's not here. He's not gonna be here till next year. Give it up. And she wouldn't do it. And finally, by well, on on Monday morning, she wasn't as bad. But by about noon, Monday, she was like, okay. He ain't coming back. I told you.
[00:24:41] Rich Chelson:
You know? They always seem to leave me.
[00:24:47] Unknown:
And, you know, I I very well bet that she was like, this guy was here. We got to be real good friends, and why did he leave me?
[00:24:58] Duuude-Ron :
Right.
[00:24:59] Rich Chelson:
But you know what? Now you get to watch her explode next time you see her. She's just gonna go for a
[00:25:04] Unknown:
Oh, yeah. Yeah. Oh, yeah. She'll she'll probably jump the damn wall to when the Jeep rolls in. I don't know if you guys talked about it before I got up, but Brian Bedella was on the porch. We had the gate across it. There was three people and two dogs walking on the sidewalk on the other side. She jumped and cleared the wall on the fucking patio.
[00:25:38] Duuude-Ron :
Yeah. Yeah. And the five horse, dude. She jumped up, launched off off the banister, and dropped about five foot and then ran across the street over I mean I mean, she was friendly and all like that, but they didn't know that. You know?
[00:25:56] Unknown:
Yep.
[00:25:58] Duuude-Ron :
And so I tried moving as fast as I can. Ron blew past me and got Bella. And and, I mean I mean, the one dude was holding his puppy, and Bella was had her paws on his leg like, hey. Pet me, fucker. Pet me. Pet me. Pet me. You know? And, you know, I was I was like I was like, she's friendly. She's friendly. You know? I mean, they were cool about it. They didn't flip out or nothing. So
[00:26:27] Unknown:
but yeah. For sure what the fuck we're not expecting Bella to fucking jump over the damn wall and fucking clear that and be two seconds was across the street.
[00:26:40] Duuude-Ron :
Oh, yeah. It it was that yeah. It was that quick. I mean and she was up over and across the street before I could even get halfway across the porch. Yep. I mean, yeah, it was that quick.
[00:26:55] Unknown:
So we learned something new. Right. We're gonna have definitely gonna have to have a choker chain on her when she's on the patio. I know that she never do I know that you would never do that, but, yeah, it was definitely a fucking shock.
[00:27:10] Duuude-Ron :
Yo. Yeah. It was. I mean, now now I will say since then well, after you left, I kept her on the leash for a while. And now I just well, I'm I'm right there, so I watch her. And if if, like, someone comes up, I I, you know, I tell her no, And and she'll stay. She'll just lay down and stay there. So I haven't had I haven't had no problems, but I still worry about that.
[00:27:39] Unknown:
Yeah. Oh, I I can imagine because you can clear that in a less than a heartbeat.
[00:27:45] Duuude-Ron :
Right.
[00:27:46] Unknown:
Well
[00:27:47] Duuude-Ron :
Yeah. Without even thinking twice.
[00:27:49] Unknown:
No. Oh, hell no.
[00:27:51] Duuude-Ron :
Now now I will say this week here, that little shit has been in trouble twice this week.
[00:27:59] Unknown:
What'd you do?
[00:28:00] Duuude-Ron :
Well, you know my Hey Dude shoes? Yeah. Yeah. She decided to play with them and chew on them. And then and then I freaking got on to her that for that, put her outside out back for a while, let her back in. She's fine on Tuesday. Wednesday comes around. Now I've been I've been I've been back here in the computer room, you know, most week and everything like this. You know, I could hear her playing every so often. She's fine. And I got up, and I'm not sure if I if if it was because I couldn't hear her. I had to I had to go to the bathroom and what, but I walked in. And you know the glasses that I use when I'm doing stuff up close, you know, that I switched to? Uh-huh.
Yeah. Yeah. She had grabbed my pair. I don't know if I I don't think I don't think they were on my piano, but I think they were on the bench beside it. She had grabbed that pair of glasses. I was freaking chomping on the earpieces, scratched one of the lenses. Oh, yeah. That I was not happy with. That was about 09:00 in the morning on Wednesday. I I freaking put her outside and left left her out there till 06:00 at night. Needless to say, she hasn't done anything since. Because I told her I said, no. You're going outside all day. You're not nothing. Don't ask for nothing. You know? She has her water and stuff out there.
No. You're done. When I let her in last night, oh, yeah. She was like, I'm sorry, dad. I'm sorry, dad. So but, I mean I mean, she'd been okay today.
[00:29:49] Unknown:
All good.
[00:29:51] Duuude-Ron :
So but,
[00:29:53] Unknown:
yeah, I wonder where where you adopted her from would know or if they would even help with dog training, you know, learning commands and so on like that?
[00:30:09] Duuude-Ron :
They might know if, someone I could take her to and, you know, I have to pay for. I mean, she is I mean, she's learning. You know? I mean, you know, I don't beat her in nothing. I just Oh, yeah. Basically basically, you know, when she does something that she's not supposed to do, I've I've learned the fastest way to, to fix it. Deny her the opportunity to be around me because that is her that is one of her biggest things.
[00:30:40] Unknown:
If Yeah.
[00:30:43] Duuude-Ron :
She wants to be by me at all times or or in the same room or whatnot. And when she acts, if I restrict that, then she's like, oh, I can't do that again because then I can't spend time with dad. You guys see what I mean? It's the same way with kids. And I learned I learned that with kids quite a while ago. You know? Don't scream at them. Don't yell at them or anything like that. Don't. Just don't. Don't spank them nothing. Take away what they enjoy. Take away something they like and ground them from it and stick to it. You know? Do it firm but nice.
I'm not saying being asked about it. Just do it firm but nice. And I'm gonna tell you right now, especially kids nowadays, take away their Internet. Boom. They will change in an instant. Yep. Because most of your Internet providers, you can download an app onto your phone.
[00:31:50] Unknown:
Uh-huh. And
[00:31:52] Duuude-Ron :
you can set up the users that you want on your network, and you can allow them or restrict them access. This guy that the one guy that, hooked up my spark light when I first got it, I was talking to him. And he was like, oh, yeah, dude. He's like he's like, yeah. I've got, you know, my oldest son. I think his oldest son was, like, 14, 15 years old. He said he had asked him to take out trash or something something simple, and he hadn't done it. And his dad just pulled his phone out, brought it up, shut his Internet off, and, his, son called him up about ten, fifteen minutes later. Dad, I can't get on the Internet.
He's like, I wonder why. Did you forget something? Yes, sir. Well, you gonna get it done? He's like, I'll turn it back on tomorrow. And he waited till, like, late late that afternoon the next day to turn it on. But, I mean I mean, it teaches kids that there's consequences. You know?
[00:33:00] Unknown:
Yeah.
[00:33:01] Duuude-Ron :
And, I mean, honestly, it works better than just about anything else I found.
[00:33:08] Unknown:
You know? You know what? But still, a nice firm switch to the ass Well helps too once in a while. It's an attention getter.
[00:33:20] Duuude-Ron :
Well, that is true. I'm not I'm not I'm not I'm not arguing with you on that. Okay? I'm not arguing with you on that, but I'm just saying you can take away that Internet or the or their phone. They'll run really quick just how fragile things are.
[00:33:41] Unknown:
Yep. How fragile their little world is.
[00:33:44] Duuude-Ron :
And they will do whatever they have to to get it back. Right. They they will learn to change and change quickly and not do it again because they know, oh, shit. It'll be for longer. Right.
[00:34:00] Unknown:
You know? Yeah.
[00:34:02] Duuude-Ron :
And, I mean, so that's why that's that's why I do I do what I do with Bella. Oh my god. It drives her up a wall because, you know, she'll be at the back door just, I mean, sitting there looking in the door. See me walk by, and I'll just walk by and not even pay attention to her. And she just oh my god. It just On zap. Into a tizzy.
[00:34:28] Rich Chelson:
Do you walk past the door and all of a sudden you start hearing Sarah McLaughlin's eyes of an angel?
[00:34:35] Duuude-Ron :
Oh, no. She, yeah, she tries to whine and whimper, and I just no. Shut up. I don't wanna hear it. It's like, uh-uh. You screwed up, girl. We ain't we ain't playing that game.
[00:34:48] Rich Chelson:
Arms are not eyes. Oh, I just realized I'd used the wrong title. It's in the arms, not eye.
[00:34:58] Unknown:
Thank you, Joe. Especially, but
[00:35:02] Duuude-Ron :
So so, yeah, that's that's what that's that's cruising the coast, man. And the 10,000 cars is is the highest count ever in the history of cruising the coast.
[00:35:18] Unknown:
Far back to the making of money. Was that one that you took? Was that video number that you took?
[00:35:26] Duuude-Ron :
What's that?
[00:35:28] Unknown:
You said it was the highest count for views, the one that you took of the the coupon. No. No. No. No. I was
[00:35:36] Duuude-Ron :
I was talking about the cars registered. Yeah. The count? Oh, okay. Yeah. That was the highest ever. In fact Yep. In fact, I need to look on that one video
[00:35:50] Unknown:
that I made. It's not true. When I left, it was up to 2,200.
[00:35:59] Duuude-Ron :
Oh, yeah. No. It was it no. It it it shot up past that dude. It shot up past that. 5,900 views.
[00:36:09] Unknown:
Almost 6,000 views. Damn. Yeah. Nice.
[00:36:13] Rich Chelson:
Yeah. Is that through on Facebook or or TikTok or what? Facebook.
[00:36:19] Duuude-Ron :
Oh, wow. Yeah. And one of my other ones that had remember the triple seven car? Yep. That re that red coupe? That one Uh-huh. That that one wound up with 1,400 views.
[00:36:35] Unknown:
Oh, wow. Yeah. So yeah. So what yeah. So, Brian, what he's talking about is the the blower, like you see with the dragsters that have the three openings for the blower. He had sevens on all three of those openings. So it was triple triple sevens. That was a fucking and he was running Goodyear slicks. I mean, slicks on the road. And the license plate, you could barely see it because it was under the vehicle attached to the of the fucking, rear axle.
[00:37:16] Duuude-Ron :
Oh,
[00:37:17] Rich Chelson:
okay. Yeah. I'm seeing it right here where it's sitting right in between the the underside of the car and the, and the, the wheelie bar. Yeah. Yeah.
[00:37:30] Unknown:
Well It's 777. That was that was definitely an event that I will that I will go to again to include, we might have next year, we might have to hit both days of the freaking, drag strip.
[00:37:47] Duuude-Ron :
Right.
[00:37:49] Unknown:
Next year. So we'll see. Yeah. So right now, I gotta save up for Moab in March and then save up again for cruising the coast next year.
[00:38:04] Rich Chelson:
Your money is done spent.
[00:38:06] Unknown:
Ain't that a bitch?
[00:38:08] Rich Chelson:
At least putting it on before it's even before it's even made.
[00:38:13] Duuude-Ron :
I know.
[00:38:14] Unknown:
You know? Yeah. So now we're finally tonight, it well, they've been predicting rain here for tomorrow and Saturday, but I'm already seeing the clouds with a lot of lightning to the north or no. To the east of me, coming around. So that's always fun to watch, the lightning in the distance.
[00:38:42] Duuude-Ron :
Yeah.
[00:38:43] Unknown:
Uh-huh. Kinda like what you the storms you get on off the Gulf. Those are just those are just fun to watch. Yeah. They are.
[00:38:54] Rich Chelson:
Yeah. Those are some of my favorite ways to catch storm, watch storms roll in over the from a ways away and just look at it and watch it as it's just a ball of lightning, just boom boom boom boom boom boom boom. Yep. Always been one of my favorite ways of doing watching storms Or some also Oh, yeah. Gone off and, damn near gotten zapped by standing out in the garden with a umbrella. So
[00:39:24] Unknown:
You know? And that's that's not very much fun. But you know what? If that happened to you and I was standing anywhere close, you would get not a fucking ounce of help from me. Oh, hell no. No. I'm I'm
[00:39:38] Rich Chelson:
you you would've you would've been a smart one. You'd been at least standing, you know, underneath the the the the porch
[00:39:47] Unknown:
and, Taking photos. Taking photos. Videos.
[00:39:50] Rich Chelson:
And watching my air start to fly.
[00:39:53] Unknown:
Yeah. Exactly. And be laughing every moment going, damn. Sucks to suck. Sucks to be Brian right now. But, yep, finally let's see. What was it? Last Monday when I got back from the cruise on the coast. Got the roof on. That was that was a fun day. Sat outside the whole time just keeping an eyeball on them. Now they were a pretty good crew. So, I did was very happy with their work. But, you know, when it's something big like that, I don't know about you, but I'm gonna sit outside and watch them like a motherfucking hawk.
Right. That they're getting the shit done that they're supposed to be getting done, and they did. Now they ran out of daylight, so they had to come back Tuesday and just finish up, which was one panel of the roof and and and all the the hardware and the roof caps. Okay. So they were out of here by freaking me. I was back in 11:00 Tuesday morning. They finished up and headed out.
[00:41:09] Duuude-Ron :
That's cool.
[00:41:11] Unknown:
Nothing wrong with that, dude. That and I ain't found and I ain't found one screw or one nail yet. Or I should say, my the underside of my foot has not found a nail or a screw yet.
[00:41:26] Duuude-Ron :
Well, that's good.
[00:41:28] Unknown:
Yeah. It's always good. Because that I don't know about you, but that shit hurts. Typically. Yeah. Most definitely. Typically, that really freaking hurts. I should probably turn down the television now. It's been an hour. Get rid of that background noise that that you always love, Brian.
[00:41:51] Rich Chelson:
Oh, heck. Yeah.
[00:41:52] Unknown:
It's like But now they have all the on sci fi, they have all the all the spooky movies. So tonight, they're doing Jeepers Creepers. Oh, there you go. Let's see. Couple nights ago, they did all three Saw movies. They played Hocus Pocus. And I know that's a gay movie, but I like it. No. No. Hocus Pocus is awesome. You know what? But Hocus Pocus two
[00:42:17] Rich Chelson:
sucks. Yeah. I 100% with you on that one. Yeah. That was That one just
[00:42:26] Unknown:
sucked. So, yeah, they're doing all the all the spooky movies this month for for October. Awesome. Awesome. Awesome. And then I had fun tonight as soon as I got home because on my outside edge of my chimney, it's just it's that freaking the worst damn thing they could ever make for siding on a house, which is fucking OSB. God. I hate this shit. And, you know, the squirrels have ate at it, and the squirrels got into the into the chimney area, which is open at the back patio, which is open to going into the fucking attic. So, yeah, I've just been patching that up and because that's gonna cost a pretty penny to get all the siding done on the house.
So that's another saving. But I had some OSB that because they had a small patch over where my electrical outlet comes into from the pole to the house. There was some rotted deck boards, so they fixed that. And then I got the rest of that, which was OSB, and put that up last weekend. And then today, because I just happen to have the, what the fuck, the tarp because I don't know if we're gonna get paid at the end of the month with this government shutdown. So It should have been paid, dude. Retirement and
[00:44:06] Duuude-Ron :
program. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. We're not affected. No.
[00:44:12] Unknown:
For retirement and for VA?
[00:44:15] Duuude-Ron :
VA is not affected at all, period. Okay. Retirement, I don't I don't think it is, but I know your VA is not affected at all.
[00:44:27] Unknown:
Okay.
[00:44:28] Duuude-Ron :
I read that when when all this shit was going on. That's like Social Security payments. They're still going through.
[00:44:36] Unknown:
Okay. Then that was gonna be my next question. With so many people depending upon or that's their primary means of income is Social Security, were they gonna get paid at the end of the month?
[00:44:49] Duuude-Ron :
No. See, the thing is thing is the freaking Democrats try and paint a scary ass picture and what it is. Basically, all it is is, like, if if you went down right now to sign up for Social Security disability, okay Yeah. It it'll take you longer than average because that part is slowed down. The, Social Security payments are not affected in any way, shape, or form. Okay. Good. And just like just like with the VA, okay, your, disability payments are not affected in any way, shape, or form. Your your your military retirement shouldn't be affected, but I don't know if it is or not.
[00:45:34] Unknown:
Well, we'll find out next Friday.
[00:45:37] Duuude-Ron :
Either way to be either way, you'll get, you know, back pay for it, you know, once the shit does kick off. But you see, that's the thing. Everyone everyone paints a picture that is so so fucking scary, and and everyone uses Social Security, VA, and, like, national parks when national parks aren't even in any of this. But they use this and they and they shut them down. You know? And it's like, why? Because the fucking congress and and and fucking senate can't agree on anything. And, basically, what it is, the fucking Democrats won't pass the resolution because they wanna add shit to the resolution to reopen the government.
[00:46:27] Unknown:
Yeah. Like, a trillion dollars for Medical.
[00:46:33] Rich Chelson:
For for Medicare for illegals.
[00:46:35] Unknown:
Yeah. Medicare for illegals. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That is and that's our biggest thing. We want met or Medicare for illegals, and we ain't gonna fucking budge. But fuck everybody else. But but That relies on that fucking paycheck.
[00:46:56] Duuude-Ron :
Hang on. Check this out. The fucking Democrats, you're right. Once fucking a trillion dollars for fucking Medicare for illegals. That's our motherfucking money. Look at people look at your fucking paycheck. It'll say Medicare, and it'll they take money out every fucking pay period you get for Medicare. Guess what? You're paying for the illegals, not the government. The government ain't paying for shit. The American taxpayers pay for illegals. They we pay for fucking everything. But, yeah, everybody wants to make it sound like, oh, yeah. No. It's it's the fucking it's the fucking Democrats want to use your fucking money in order to fund all of their programs without them using a penny of their money.
[00:47:50] Unknown:
Yeah.
[00:47:51] Duuude-Ron :
Alright. Thank you for getting me wound up, gentlemen.
[00:47:57] Unknown:
And we and you know what? It's it's early in the program. We can fucking get that banjo string really fucking tight to the point of you pluck it one more time, that motherfucker's gonna snap.
[00:48:11] Duuude-Ron :
Right. No. It just it just fucking irks me. Every time this shit happens, you know, you've got all these fucking leftist fucking articles coming out, talking about how bad the right is and spinning it their way. When it comes down to the point, we would have already had the government reopened. We never would have went into a shutdown if Thank you. Think I think what? We were lacking eight votes. If eight fucking Democrats woulda grabbed their fucking nuts and stood up for something rather than hiding behind a skirt or whatever, stood up for fucking something and said, no. Let's keep the government open and work on this later.
Oh, no. Oh, no. We can't do that because then because then the rebarbacoons and Donald Trump will win, and, oh god oh god, we can't do that. Oh, fuck you.
[00:49:07] Unknown:
Yeah. Reopen the government. Again again, their paychecks are not being affected by the shutdown.
[00:49:15] Duuude-Ron :
No. It's not.
[00:49:17] Unknown:
None of their nothing for them is being affected by the shutdown. But millions of other people, gee, ain't gonna fucking get paid.
[00:49:30] Duuude-Ron :
Exactly. But to up to and including possibly our military.
[00:49:36] Unknown:
Yes.
[00:49:37] Duuude-Ron :
Now But Eventually, yes. Give a fuck about that. Oh, yeah. Oh, no. And and you see, that's the thing. The fucking Democrats. Oh, we're for the military. We're for the military. Really, motherfuckers? You just took the goddamn paycheck for September. Kiss my ass.
[00:49:54] Unknown:
Yep. And I didn't see and I don't see any of them or any of their kinfolk, kids, grandkids, great grandkids, fucking joining the military and being deployed. So Oh, no. Don't affect their family name whatsoever.
[00:50:15] Duuude-Ron :
Nope. Yeah. No. It just see, this is what this is what irks the shit out of me about politics anymore. Because this Yeah. You know? And and see, that's the thing. This is nothing new. Okay? This shit has been going on. Bill Clinton was the last president to have a balanced budget.
[00:50:37] Unknown:
Yep. Okay?
[00:50:39] Duuude-Ron :
And have an excess, and he paid the American people some of it back. That's the last time this country has had a balanced budget. We've had more fucking shutdowns over bullshit than anything. And the thing is the government uses our money, our taxpayer dollars, to pay for every fucking thing. And they don't give none of us back, and they make us jump through hoops just to get what we are rightfully owed because we paid the money in.
[00:51:14] Unknown:
Yep.
[00:51:15] Duuude-Ron :
But yet, they wanna call us greedy and all like this because, oh, we don't wanna give it to the, you know, illegals down the street to help them. No. Because they didn't come into the fucking country properly. If they would've come into the country properly, they would've been afforded the rights and customs due an American citizen. Yep.
[00:51:39] Unknown:
And what about black,
[00:51:40] Duuude-Ron :
white, yellow, brown, what this is race is not involved in this. It's a fact. Are you an American or not? Are you legal Yep. Or not legal? There's there it's oh, this is this is like the whole man, woman, transgender thing. No. There's man, there's woman. There's legal, there's illegal. That's it. No more. Be done. Be gone. If you don't like it, get the fuck out.
[00:52:09] Unknown:
Yeah. You know? And there was a blip that I saw on Facebook that some lady far on the left was just preaching, you know, everybody that's Caucasian should fucking leave The United States because we were not originally from this country. Only Native Americans up until, what, fourteen ninety two ish ish ish. Okay. So she's saying that all of the caucasians and everybody else should leave the, country. And then the reporter says, write to her, write in her face. So where are you going to? And her fucking jaw hit the ground and bounced. Awesome. And You're white. Where are you fucking going?
[00:53:05] Duuude-Ron :
Exactly. Exactly. Yeah. I I think I saw that post. I loved it. I loved it because yeah. Exactly. You wanna sit here and say that? Well, where the fuck you going there, lady? Because you can't live here either.
[00:53:19] Unknown:
Yep. You know, when all these individuals that fucking hate The United States right now, then fucking leave. You know, the actors and actresses that say, you know, Trump gets elected. I'm gonna leave the country. Why you fucking still here? You ain't left? There's only one that I know of has left, and the country that she's in doesn't want her either.
[00:53:46] Duuude-Ron :
Oh, there's a few O'Donnell in Ireland. Hey. Rosie O'Donnell left. Ellen DeGeneres left. I I've I've I've read there's a few others that have left.
[00:53:57] Unknown:
So Yep. And but, see, Rosie is just running her mouth so much that Ireland doesn't want her fucking either.
[00:54:05] Duuude-Ron :
Well, you hey. That's not our problem.
[00:54:08] Unknown:
And That is not our problem. Will be if she gets deported from Ireland back to The United States.
[00:54:15] Rich Chelson:
No. She's actually she is actually renouncing her citizenship.
[00:54:21] Duuude-Ron :
She is Oh, check this out. Read an article the other day. Okay. People who move, now and this is anybody. This isn't race, you know, race related or or party related or anything. This is this is just what our federal government does. Let's say I moved to The Philippines. Okay? And let's say that I decided to live out my days over there and and became a citizen of The Philippines and turned my passport in. My name, information, all that will be put on a public website for anybody to view saying that I gave up my rights as an American.
[00:55:11] Unknown:
Well, can't you do can't you have a dual citizenship?
[00:55:15] Duuude-Ron :
If you want, yeah. But, you know, some people leave and just say, fuck this shit. I don't wanna deal with it. I'm moving to another country, and, you know, I'll live over there. And that's it. You know? I'm not ever coming back.
[00:55:28] Unknown:
And that is absolutely fine, but, you know, they're just fucking stupid if they're gonna say they're gonna renounce their citizenship. Yeah. I was just a fucking idiot right there when it gets your passport. Because if something happens there, well, you can always come back to the states. You may not like it, but you have that ability to do so.
[00:55:50] Duuude-Ron :
Well, I mean I mean, you know, look at all these illegals.
[00:55:54] Unknown:
Yes. I know. Give up
[00:55:57] Duuude-Ron :
their rights and and because that's the thing. To be a an American and to take citizenship test, you have to renounce your country.
[00:56:08] Unknown:
Understandably. So the reason is that as as
[00:56:13] Duuude-Ron :
we are.
[00:56:14] Unknown:
Okay. But then after they renounce the citizenship to that country because they're trying to be a citizen of The United States, well, they can always get a passport and go visit.
[00:56:28] Duuude-Ron :
Well, yeah.
[00:56:29] Unknown:
Now if they wanna visit for two, three, four years, knock yourself the fuck out because passports are good for what? Ten years?
[00:56:38] Duuude-Ron :
Yeah. But, yeah, but you'd need a visa.
[00:56:42] Unknown:
Well,
[00:56:43] Rich Chelson:
okay. You get a You got a country to to go by and say hi to them.
[00:56:48] Duuude-Ron :
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Some countries, it's easy to get visas. In other countries, yeah, you just might as well turn your passport in and become a citizen. It's easier.
[00:57:00] Unknown:
Yeah. I don't know. Fuck. Yeah. No. There's there's too much and I agree with you because I haven't read the articles, but you know what? I'm not going I'll probably never well, one, I'll probably never be able afford it, but I'm not going outside The United States because there's so many so much shit in The States that I wanna see. Right. That that that buck I'll never be able to accomplish my bucket list.
[00:57:28] Duuude-Ron :
Well, yeah. But but think about it this way. Are you gonna be able to afford it? I mean I mean, the let's drop the fact of of there's so much shit to see that you're not gonna be able to see it all. Are you gonna be able to afford to go see it all?
[00:57:46] Unknown:
That's what I'm that too. Okay. My bucket list will not be complete because I can't fucking afford it.
[00:57:53] Duuude-Ron :
You see, that's where that's where in in in in other country where, you know, other countries where the dollar is cheap, you know, you can go across half the fucking continent or freaking country you're in for, like, $20.
[00:58:10] Unknown:
You know? Well, yeah. You go to Manila, Philippines, any one of the those Asian island countries, and you can fucking with what I make now, just on my retirement and my VA, I can live like a fucking cane.
[00:58:28] Duuude-Ron :
Oh, yeah. Yeah. In fact, I, I, I looked at what I get every month. Okay? And, to the Philippine peso, because it's different than the Mexican peso, not much, but it's a little different. But what I get paid every month, I have, like I would have, like, 500 and some thousand dollars over there a month. I mean, I would be, yeah, I'd be a freaking millionaire.
[00:59:00] Unknown:
Yeah. But how much does it cost for a hamburger?
[00:59:03] Rich Chelson:
For what? Thousand pesos? Yeah.
[00:59:07] Duuude-Ron :
Yeah. The thing is thing is, though well, no. You can live over there. See see, a 100 I just looked it up. A 100,000 pesos is, like like, $1,800, give or take. So, you know no. No. Like
[00:59:26] Unknown:
like you just said, you could with what we make here, yeah, we could live like kings in Thailand, Philippines, all that other stuff. Yeah. Yeah. Vietnam?
[00:59:37] Duuude-Ron :
Oh, yeah. But yeah. No. It's it's and, I mean, rent over in, like, The Philippines and Vietnam, you can get, like, a three, four bedroom house built for, like, 40,000, and that's that's with nice shit in it.
[00:59:56] Rich Chelson:
Yeah. They're showing Filipino daily earnings, can vary greatly, but the daily minimum wage in the, nation capital region is between 645 pesos to 695 pesos, so about $11 11 to $12 a day.
[01:00:14] Unknown:
Yeah. A day.
[01:00:15] Duuude-Ron :
Times that times 30 for thirty days. That's, like, $3,400
[01:00:21] Rich Chelson:
a month, man. That's really Yep. His cell moved over there before he passed.
[01:00:27] Duuude-Ron :
You know? I mean I mean yeah. You know? And and you see, you can actually live on that weight.
[01:00:34] Rich Chelson:
Oh, yeah. I mean, you only have to worry about really big bags of wind. Do what? Said you only have to really worry about really big bags of wind. Right. And a lot of rain. Lot a lot lot of rain.
[01:00:48] Duuude-Ron :
But Hope You know? Rains. Every place has a prayer house, man.
[01:00:53] Unknown:
You're right. And but down in Panama, when it rained in the rainy season yeah, it rained every and you could damn near fucking set your watch to win the fucking when it was gonna rain. And, I mean, it just didn't start sprinkling. It started out as a fucking downpour.
[01:01:13] Rich Chelson:
It just someone flipped the switch. It came on.
[01:01:16] Unknown:
Rain for the have to turn the switch off, but to it quit. Yeah. It's pretty much. Through machine. And I don't know if Thailand and someone like that is on the same longitudinal line as Panama, but you go outside in Panama anyway, when that rain was coming down, you could've just freaking taken your uniform off and got the soap and went out and taken a shower. Yep. Yep. It was And the tropic rain was warm.
[01:01:48] Rich Chelson:
The only other problem you had to deal with with, in, like, Panama, in that area is, you have you have to worry about bot flies.
[01:01:57] Unknown:
So You know, because we went out into the field over there for because I was down there twice for JOTC, jungle operations training center. And the fucking ants, the ranger ants, oh, yeah. They'll fucking eat your ass alive. Oh, yes. I mean, them motherfuckers are about an inch long, and they were some mean motherfuckers. But I tell you what, that Ant Highway was the cleanest motherfucking highway in the world.
[01:02:34] Duuude-Ron :
Hell, yeah. Well, I can remember go ahead. I was gonna say I can remember when I was in South Korea during monsoon season, and it was funny how it did this. And, I mean, you could set your watch by it. That's that's how weird it was, inaccurate. Monday morning, about 5AM, it'd start raining. It'd rain until about Friday afternoon at about 05:00 in the in the afternoon. It'd be nice and sunshiny for the weekend. 05:00 come Monday morning, it started raining. We didn't do PT for a month, which, I mean, it didn't hurt my feelings. I was in I was working. You know? But yeah. Yeah. And it was it it was crazy.
05:00 on a Monday morning, it rained. About 05:00 on on Friday evening, it stopped and stayed nice for the weekend, so we had a good weekend to get drunk on.
[01:03:33] Unknown:
Well, there you go. Just rinse and repeat.
[01:03:36] Duuude-Ron :
By god. There you go. That's the way it worked. Them freaking gun bunnies wanted to do PT, and I'm like, shut up, guys.
[01:03:46] Unknown:
Doc yourself the fuck out.
[01:03:48] Duuude-Ron :
Yeah. I was like, I'm I'm a go to breakfast, and I'm going to work. Yeah. That's what I did.
[01:04:00] Unknown:
But yeah. Yeah. Let's see. What what year was it? Were you in Korea?
[01:04:06] Duuude-Ron :
'90.
[01:04:07] Unknown:
'90? Okay. Yeah. I went to a year rotation in '93, and then I had to go over there for Ultra Focus lens, which is core level or theater level war planning, and it was what was it? Like, ten days long. And I think, like, two months before that, they had gotten hit with a real bad monsoon. And Camp Casey
[01:04:45] Duuude-Ron :
Mhmm.
[01:04:46] Unknown:
You remember where the Division Mess Hall was at the end of Camp Casey that had the big was it two ID patch on the roof?
[01:04:56] Duuude-Ron :
Yeah.
[01:04:57] Unknown:
That's all you could see.
[01:04:58] Duuude-Ron :
Damn.
[01:05:00] Unknown:
That's a lot of rain. Yeah. That hole where that creek was at that went down the whole center of Camp Casey. Oh, yeah. Everything was a fucking underwater. That chow hall was the only thing you could see was the roof. Wow. Because somebody got pictures of it that that I knew from a previous unit when I went over there and showed me the pictures of how, yeah, Casey and punk Dushawn were basically just wiped out. So I don't know what it looks like today because that's been let's see. I went to ultra focus lens in 9099. So that's been twenty five years ago, twenty six years ago.
Yeah. Yeah. So yeah. And don't plan on going back anytime soon.
[01:05:58] Duuude-Ron :
You never know. You might wind up there tomorrow.
[01:06:03] Unknown:
You know, that would you have to that would be a little bit more than an act of congress because then they have to fucking redo you know, put me back in the military, you know, if I could even pass a fucking PT test and or the height weight standards.
[01:06:20] Duuude-Ron :
Dude, you're too old, man. I know. I mean, seriously.
[01:06:25] Unknown:
Old, broken? Yeah. And I don't know what age it is exactly that they that they can pull from?
[01:06:35] Duuude-Ron :
I think 45 is as old as you can go. 42 or 45.
[01:06:41] Rich Chelson:
Yeah. I think it's it's something like 45 of them. Right?
[01:06:45] Unknown:
So they won't pull anybody that's older than 45 back in even if it is the whole whole scale.
[01:06:52] Rich Chelson:
Neat. Like, you know, the fleet and total fit hit the Shan and China and and Russia and Iran all side team up as some superpower and wanted to get rowdy, and they needed people. I mean, we would be the Weezing Brigade, but, yeah, yeah, we they'd probably
[01:07:13] Unknown:
The Weezin Brigade. I don't care who you are. That shit's funny.
[01:07:20] Duuude-Ron :
Right.
[01:07:21] Rich Chelson:
We we were best best cadence, being called out. I mean, granted, we would always be, you know, in trouble because our cadence would be not politically correct in any form, fashion, or another. We'd be offending all the young groups. But Yeah. But at the same time, we would have best cadence. We would all be in step. But yeah. Yeah. It'd be.
[01:07:50] Unknown:
Okay. Okay.
[01:07:53] Rich Chelson:
And that's
[01:07:54] Unknown:
and that's just marching. That ain't even fucking running. That's just right. That's just marching. That's just marching. Yeah. We wouldn't even be able to fucking call cadence during if we were running. It'll probably because we wouldn't be in fucking formation. We would have already fallen out before the fucking end of the block.
[01:08:17] Duuude-Ron :
Right.
[01:08:19] Rich Chelson:
You'd have to have the road the road guard at the very end, make sure that they had a set of speaker a Bluetooth speakers strapped to the back of the rucksack or something. The so that can play the cadence while we're while we're running. So
[01:08:32] Unknown:
Oh, hell no. After that block and the the the regular running formation is is down the road. After a block or two, my ass is gonna fucking stop, turn around, and walk back. Not run. Walk. Yeah. And Oh my god. Don't sit on the stoop until they got back.
[01:08:56] Rich Chelson:
I can't breathe.
[01:08:58] Unknown:
And by that time, I would have already had two or three cigarettes.
[01:09:02] Rich Chelson:
Right.
[01:09:04] Unknown:
You know, because if I'm gonna be waiting for you, I'm gonna have a smoke doing it. So yeah. No. I'm good.
[01:09:12] Duuude-Ron :
I'm I'm I'm not even running a block. I'm just telling y'all straight. I'm not running a block.
[01:09:19] Unknown:
I'm not running a block, but I'll damn sure run my mouth.
[01:09:23] Duuude-Ron :
If I got I'll do that all day long, but I ain't running no block. I guarantee you. Maybe three steps, and that's it. Give me three steps. That's all I need.
[01:09:38] Unknown:
Okay. Give me three steps, mister. And you'll never see me no more.
[01:09:44] Duuude-Ron :
Right?
[01:09:45] Unknown:
Leonard what is it? That was Leonard Skinner, wasn't it? Three steps, mister?
[01:09:50] Rich Chelson:
Yeah. Yeah. I think yeah. Yeah. Give me three steps. Give me three steps, miss three steps towards
[01:09:57] Duuude-Ron :
the door. Oh, this is bad. We're we're all old, and we can't remember who.
[01:10:03] Rich Chelson:
Yeah. I'm I'm pretty damn sure it's it's Yeah. Skynyrd. I bet Skynyrd. I want to go off and go, yeah. I don't think that's skit you know, Lynyrd Skynyrd and oh, no. It's Kansas. What?
[01:10:14] Duuude-Ron :
Oh my god. Holy shit. Oh, that's crazy.
[01:10:21] Unknown:
Well, see, we can just we do have that that that favorite saying. We've forgotten more shit than the these kids have ever learned.
[01:10:34] Duuude-Ron :
Right.
[01:10:35] Unknown:
So, yeah, at least we are number one in something.
[01:10:41] Duuude-Ron :
This is true.
[01:10:43] Unknown:
I can accept that number one.
[01:10:45] Rich Chelson:
Yeah. And that was on their debut album. So
[01:10:49] Duuude-Ron :
Yeah. Man, that's crazy. I had to I had to stop thinking about that.
[01:10:54] Rich Chelson:
Apparently, based on real life experience, Ronnie Van Zant had at a bar in Jacksonville, Florida having a gun pulled on him while dancing with another man's woman.
[01:11:07] Duuude-Ron :
Life was rough back then. Life was a lot different. Yeah. Yep. It it yeah. It hey. See, that's the thing. All these people nowadays, they don't realize that that back then. You know? Yeah. Yeah. Shit didn't fly. You know? They're, you know, they're like, oh, no. That's not fair. That's not fair now, bitch. Let me tell you what's not fair. Yeah. What's happening to you right now? That's totally fair because, fuck, that's nothing. Right. You know? Dance with another man's wife and get a gun pulled on you. People have been shot for a lot less.
[01:11:45] Rich Chelson:
I almost Yep. Going on. I bet you that guy
[01:11:48] Unknown:
that hold the gun on him never got any royalties from the song whatsoever.
[01:11:54] Duuude-Ron :
He said, no. Probably not.
[01:11:57] Unknown:
I think he might have.
[01:11:59] Duuude-Ron :
I mean, I I wouldn't give him no royalties. Dude pulled a gun on me. Screw that.
[01:12:07] Unknown:
Yeah. It's just a curious question.
[01:12:12] Duuude-Ron :
Well, true.
[01:12:14] Unknown:
But But I'm sure he never did. And you know?
[01:12:18] Duuude-Ron :
More likely not. More than likely not. And it's been freaking cold down here Yeah. In the mornings. Oh. It been, like, in the, like, 55.
[01:12:34] Unknown:
Wrong answer. Tuesday, we hit Tuesday, we hit 46 is the low in the morning. I went outside to have a cigarette, and I'm like didn't even get a half a step out the door. It's like, nope. Turns around, fucking go get the jacket, then I'll go outside.
[01:12:52] Duuude-Ron :
Get the jacket. Dude, I got my flannel PJs on when I go and my hoodie when I go outside now. Fuck that shit.
[01:13:02] Rich Chelson:
I got the flannel p j's on. Yeah. I was watching Max Velocity on YouTube, and he was talking about, yeah, you probably not gonna like winter this year. It's supposed to be have some extended cold periods. So you might you might start, looking pulling up flight plans and getting visas in order to start heading down to, like see what Guam's like this time of year.
[01:13:26] Duuude-Ron :
Guam? Okay. I might I'm I'm a tell you what, man. It's just that's like, no. It's like, uh-uh. Oh, yeah. No. Yeah. Now it it warms up, you know, pretty quick by, like, eight, 09:00. It Oh, yeah. Yeah. You know, it's it's warm enough to put, shorts on and stuff. But I got it in the mornings. I got my flannels on and my hoodie on, and I ain't coming out of them bastards till, you know, I'm I'm damn near sweating. You got your hoodie.
[01:13:59] Rich Chelson:
And some got got a blanket that goes across your lap, a blanket wrapped around your shoulders.
[01:14:05] Duuude-Ron :
That'll be in a couple weeks because it's supposed to be in the forties in in a couple weeks. Yeah. No. No. I no. I ain't probably turn my heater on yet.
[01:14:20] Rich Chelson:
So at least at least whenever you start your heater up, you're not you're you get to know why why you smell something burning. Oh, well, true. Irritating thing is someone would turn the heater on the first time after, you know, after all summer, you're like, what's burning? What's cooking? Oh my gosh. We're on fire. Who's what's burning?
[01:14:38] Duuude-Ron :
Yeah.
[01:14:38] Unknown:
Yeah. You you gotta you gotta load that first
[01:14:42] Rich Chelson:
first heat up of the furnace. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Then you find out, oh, mom turned the heater on. She was cold.
[01:14:49] Unknown:
Yeah.
[01:14:50] Duuude-Ron :
Yeah. All those all those flying around bugs that that that camped out in the furnace get cooked. Yep. You know? It's like we're having fly for dinner. Fly pie. Which fly pie? Never had it. You're gonna like it. I promise. But yeah. No. It's yeah. Yeah. I got a a big contest I'm running this weekend. So that's why I've been I've been spending all this time with this antenna and making sure shit works, and I I don't want no problems.
[01:15:30] Unknown:
Have you tightened up the
[01:15:34] Duuude-Ron :
Yes. I have. Yes. I have. In fact, fact, I had to, tweak a couple today.
[01:15:45] Unknown:
I would believe it because they're still trying to get the stretch out. But as soon as you have the as soon as you have the first rein yeah. They should get tight.
[01:15:55] Duuude-Ron :
Oh, we've done had rain and everything like that. It just and I was out there today, and I noticed. I just yeah. It was just there was some there was a bend in the in the mast that that wasn't there like the day before, and I think it was due from the the heat and the cold and everything like that. So I, you know, touched up a little bit, made it look pretty again.
[01:16:22] Unknown:
Make it look pretty. Yep. Make it look functional. And then Well well, pretty is totally irrelevant to is the motherfault.
[01:16:33] Duuude-Ron :
Oh, yeah. Oh, no. It works. I I I guarantee you that
[01:16:38] Unknown:
You guarantee you're gonna fucking keep those way those those lines nice and tight.
[01:16:45] Duuude-Ron :
Oh, hell yeah. Because, yeah, this thing works too well. I mean, damn. I mean, I had I had read I had read all about this antenna. I had read the reviews where people had made them, and I I had heard people talk about them for a long while, like, year, year and a half, two years. And, yeah, everything they said is true. It's, like, freaking awesome.
[01:17:12] Unknown:
So I'll hope we get a fucking shitload of contacts on this events this week again.
[01:17:19] Duuude-Ron :
I should. I should. In fact in fact, what's funny, this week here, you know, see us, since I've been on the radio, it seems like everybody's on the radio right now making sure their shit's right. I got a feeling this is gonna be a a a big powerful contest this year. Wow. Yeah. I just I mean I mean because I'm freaking hearing a lot of Europe. I mean, I was shocked to get Scotland today. I was like, wow. I got Scotland this morning and everything. So it's like yeah. Just it's crazy, man. It's like everyone's making contacts, and and the main thing everyone's saying at the end of the contact, hope to work you in the contest this weekend.
It's like, fuck yeah, dude. I hope so too.
[01:18:13] Rich Chelson:
Yeah. Y'all are all getting all built up, and then the sun's gonna fart, and y'all are not gonna catch shit.
[01:18:19] Duuude-Ron :
And I wanna come and kick you in the ass,
[01:18:23] Unknown:
Brian.
[01:18:24] Duuude-Ron :
Thanks, man. Burst my bubble like that. What's up, dude?
[01:18:31] Unknown:
You're gonna wind up that banjo string.
[01:18:35] Duuude-Ron :
Then he's going Man, I'm do you I am telling you, I have been working on on on on this whole setup for two solid weeks to make sure that nothing goes wrong or or if something happens, I can fix it immediately. Because this contest is a forty eight hour contest. Okay.
[01:18:56] Unknown:
But what it starts Friday night and then Sunday afternoon? What's that? What's the start Friday night and then Sunday afternoon?
[01:19:05] Duuude-Ron :
Yeah. It start Friday night at six and then Sunday night at 05:59.
[01:19:11] Unknown:
Oh, okay.
[01:19:12] Duuude-Ron :
So yeah. But, yeah, it, it, it's a big one. And I checked because I could've swore I ran this contest last year. Apparently, I did not. Apparently. Yeah. I know. I I I that was the same thing I said because I because I went to the CQ Worldwide DX website because I was wanting to look at my scores from last year. Right? Right. I typed in my call, sat me in there, like, who? Who are you? And I'm like, excuse me? Oh. I'm like, no. No. It's like, I was in this contest last year. Apparently, I wasn't.
[01:19:56] Unknown:
You know why?
[01:19:58] Duuude-Ron :
Why?
[01:19:59] Unknown:
Because you're in a different contest.
[01:20:01] Duuude-Ron :
No. No. This this is the only contest this weekend. These these large ones like this, they're that's it. It's that is the there is no other contest going on around the world.
[01:20:15] Unknown:
Right. And it understandably. But you said you thought you ran it last year. No. You probably ran the contest two weeks after that contest. Who knows?
[01:20:29] Duuude-Ron :
No. I yeah. No. It is possible. But because you see, after this one this weekend, my next big one is the November, the November sweepstakes switch. I'll get those results because I remember running that one last year.
[01:20:49] Unknown:
And that's probably the one you ran last year and thought you ran the one that you're running this weekend last year at this same time frame.
[01:20:58] Duuude-Ron :
Yeah. It's that's possible. But, yeah, I was just yeah. I was I was unless unless unless I did run a contest and I didn't turn my logs in because I forgot. Yeah. It says yeah. I just checked again. It says says I never ran it.
[01:21:18] Rich Chelson:
No bueno.
[01:21:21] Duuude-Ron :
Well, I'm gonna fix that. That's for damn sure.
[01:21:25] Unknown:
So then you you will have bueno this weekend.
[01:21:29] Duuude-Ron :
Yes. I will. Yes. I will. And then and then, November sweepstakes, that's another big one. And I will definitely run that one, but I won't worry about this one until after Sunday because I'll be tired. Sure. You will be.
[01:21:52] Unknown:
So And and you just may not be able to walk to the coffee pot.
[01:21:57] Duuude-Ron :
Yeah. Bullshit.
[01:21:59] Unknown:
That you're so tired.
[01:22:02] Duuude-Ron :
Yeah. Okay.
[01:22:03] Unknown:
That's a oh, okay. That's a different tire.
[01:22:06] Duuude-Ron :
I can sleep, dude. I can sleepwalk and find the coffee pot.
[01:22:11] Unknown:
You could barely fucking find the coffee pot by Friday afternoon on Cruising the Coast.
[01:22:18] Duuude-Ron :
Well, that is true. I I was wore the fuck out. I mean, I that was just oh my god. Yeah. I was I would tore up from the floor up.
[01:22:30] Unknown:
Yeah. Because you owed and decrepitated.
[01:22:35] Duuude-Ron :
Yes. I am. I am not gonna lie.
[01:22:39] Unknown:
And you resemble that remark?
[01:22:42] Duuude-Ron :
Yes. I do.
[01:22:44] Unknown:
Yes. I do. So you know what? You better do a lot of fucking stretching, whatever the fuck you have to do in preparations for next year. Start now. Limber up, buttercup.
[01:23:02] Duuude-Ron :
Well, I I I I still need to go to physical therapy. I'm gonna try and work on my back, see if I can't let that ease up. And then, I still have to go You'll do
[01:23:18] Unknown:
physical therapy for a whole year and in a week's time frame for cruising the coast? I'll get all up.
[01:23:26] Duuude-Ron :
Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. That's that ain't no lie. Yeah. Last year on, November sweeps, I had 11,000 points. Say, I need, hang on here, I need to highlight this because it doesn't have the okay. And I need to pay I need notepad.
[01:23:49] Unknown:
Yeah. You can do that. For, for
[01:23:53] Duuude-Ron :
the, the November sweepstakes.
[01:23:58] Unknown:
Did you score in the top 1,000?
[01:24:01] Duuude-Ron :
Oh, yeah. Okay. But I was running see, I was running low power last year. I was only running a 100 watts. This year, I'm playing with the big boys.
[01:24:11] Unknown:
And, With the big boys and the the big antenna.
[01:24:16] Duuude-Ron :
And I'm running 200 watts. Okay. November sweepstakes, I had a 101 QSOS, fifty five secondtions. I only worked nine hours of that contest. See, nothing on one sixty or 80. 12 contacts on 49 on 20. Propagation was bad then. 15, I had 34. 10, I had 46. So I'll do a lot better this year.
[01:24:48] Unknown:
Oh, yeah. So okay. Hell, sounds like you'll be doing a hell of a lot better if you just stay on fucking 10.
[01:24:56] Duuude-Ron :
Well, it depends on propagation. And, like like, right now, 10 meters is out. It's dead. It freaking dead in a doornail.
[01:25:06] Unknown:
Oh, okay.
[01:25:08] Duuude-Ron :
Seriously. I mean, I could spit further and I could talk on 10 meters right now. Oh, okay. Yeah. It's yeah. And at night, for some reason, 10 meter 10 meter ten, fifteen, twelve, and seventeen just go in the tank. Now I did talk to, Victor echo seven whiskey Juliet, and I didn't look to see where he was from. He's from Canada. I know that much. But here, I didn't. I talked to him before I shut everything down over there to come over here to walk across the room. Alright? It's a little short.
[01:25:47] Unknown:
So, basically, you shut that down in about let's see. We start at seven, so you probably shut that down to get to the other side of the room at about, oh, what, 06:10?
[01:26:00] Duuude-Ron :
It's about, yeah, it was about 06:15, to be honest with you.
[01:26:06] Unknown:
It's gonna take you forty five minutes across the room.
[01:26:09] Duuude-Ron :
Well, you know, I had to go to the bathroom. I had to let a belly in. Yeah. You know, I I I I got things I gotta do. Yeah. This guy, Vic Jericho seven whiskey Juliet, he's from North Vancouver, British Columbia. So he's up in the Northwest corner of of above us. He's above Washington State. Oh, okay. Real nice guy. I mean, real nice guy. Gave me a five nine plus. You're like, good god, dude. You're loud. Good. That's what I want. I want you to hear me.
[01:26:49] Unknown:
Yep. Yeah.
[01:26:52] Duuude-Ron :
Yeah. And I checked my, you know, how I, put my mask and, you know, how I I was wanting to lay my antenna out, dude.
[01:27:01] Unknown:
Yeah. Well,
[01:27:03] Duuude-Ron :
I checked, you know, I checked it from north, from a magnetic north, took my compass out there, and I I got magnetic north, and then I turned in line with my antenna. And Okay. Got it I've got it plotted on a azimuth map, but it's fucking perfect. It's it's it's set up perfectly the way I wanted it because it's shooting mostly across to Europe, and the backside of it will go towards, Australia, New Zealand, and all those little islands and stuff out there. So
[01:27:43] Unknown:
Yeah.
[01:27:44] Duuude-Ron :
I am very happy with the placement.
[01:27:47] Unknown:
Well, that is cool.
[01:27:49] Duuude-Ron :
Yeah. Because you see, I didn't I just eyeballed that. I didn't, you know, I didn't do any math. I just eyeballed it. Yeah. No. We just
[01:28:00] Unknown:
ours was more like, okay. We need to set it here because we need to get it over this limb so the limb doesn't knock it down in when the wind is going. And, well, we're pretty close to where we want it by the house. Good enough. Right. And we came out really close on magnetic north.
[01:28:26] Duuude-Ron :
Yeah. Well, we're we're facing about fifty fifty one degrees, which puts a signal going right across Europe. If you look at Earth as a as take the globe and smash it.
[01:28:43] Unknown:
Yeah.
[01:28:44] Duuude-Ron :
Okay? And and it it goes right through Europe, and then the backside goes through, like, Hawaii and on down through New Zealand and all like this. And, actually, Japan is actually above Canada when you flatten the Earth out. China, Russia. So so my Russian contacts basically went straight north up over Canada and up over the North Pole and and caught Russia on the backside. So that there was actually a polar run. Oh, okay. Yeah. So so, actually, my signal went up over the the North Pole, and I got to talk to Russia. Oh, okay.
So yeah. So yeah. It's it's yeah. It's been cool.
[01:29:39] Unknown:
Well, that's good.
[01:29:40] Duuude-Ron :
Yeah. I think so. I know y'all are like, what the fuck is he talking about?
[01:29:46] Unknown:
I got no fucking idea what he's talking. You
[01:29:49] Rich Chelson:
into the to the adults on Charlie Brown. It's like
[01:29:57] Unknown:
You know, I get I get bits and pieces, and they you know, I can Yeah. Figure out with what you're saying.
[01:30:05] Duuude-Ron :
Right.
[01:30:06] Unknown:
And Now when you get in the now when you get in the actual radio portion,
[01:30:12] Duuude-Ron :
you know, and you see, that's the thing. I I try and make it as simple as I can, but but I forget sometimes that not everybody knows the information like I know. And so I just get going, and I don't even think. You know?
[01:30:32] Unknown:
Well, we have to. Oh, shoot. And then I got those two screws just, you know, trying to get some type of connection that so that, you know, they get a little get bit of a spark, and it's like, oh, I got that.
[01:30:52] Duuude-Ron :
Right. Right.
[01:30:53] Unknown:
But, usually, they're floating around on opposite sides of the brain and usually gets very little, you know, connection there.
[01:31:03] Duuude-Ron :
Right. Yeah. No. Like, I okay. I try and keep it as simple as possible.
[01:31:10] Unknown:
Well, it's always best to keep the KISS concept.
[01:31:15] Duuude-Ron :
Well, you know, I try, but sometimes I just because there's math involved.
[01:31:21] Unknown:
And Yeah. Because then you go on math involved? Yeah. Right. When there's math involved, what?
[01:31:29] Duuude-Ron :
You know, it it it it tends to throw people for a loop, especially when the numbers aren't aren't normal. You know? Because that's like figuring out a wavelength of of an antenna. You know? Are you doing a quarter wave, a half wave, a three quarter, a five eights, or a full wave? You you you got, what, like, five different numbers you can pick from, and then you gotta add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
[01:31:57] Rich Chelson:
No. Y'all gonna do it.
[01:32:00] Unknown:
Y'all gonna do it.
[01:32:03] Duuude-Ron :
Right? I try not to, but sometimes I I have to. You know? I I try not to, use any math any more math than I absolutely have to.
[01:32:17] Unknown:
And there, you just got a full fucking wave.
[01:32:22] Duuude-Ron :
Yeah. It popped up and went ding.
[01:32:27] Unknown:
So there there you go. You got a full fucking wave.
[01:32:31] Duuude-Ron :
With all fingers too even. Yeah.
[01:32:36] Unknown:
Hey, Brian. On I sent him on his on his, Facebook Messenger, the hand wave thing, So he got a full wave. Oh, okay.
[01:32:47] Rich Chelson:
There you go. Can't quite do that. Better than it. Just get That, I'm not a 100% sure.
[01:32:58] Duuude-Ron :
So, Brian, what you been up to?
[01:33:01] Rich Chelson:
Well, not much. May have had some turnout on, on the on the daughter drama thing. Had some development happen on that, so that was a good thing. So that's she by the looks of it, and so far, we've gotten a month in or not month, a week into into her out, and and she seems to be holding pretty strong so far. So I'm keeping my feet honest. But but yeah. Well, yeah, it looks like she is finally done. She apparently, he got to drink it again. Beginning to wonder if if she was drinking too, but not a 100%. But, then he was I know he was drinking from what from what my son had told me because he went over there to go pick up a little, yay hoos and, and a little bit so that they would both be you know? So we get them out of the way. But yeah.
It was last Wednesday. Well, the Wednesday last week. And, I don't know, probably about 09:45 or so. Got a got a call from her. And, I actually got a call from a from a number, didn't know. At first, I was like, alright. Well, whatever. I'll just hang up and go. And then immediately called back, and I was like, okay. Someone's really in the so I hung up again, and I called back. And I was like, okay. Okay. So this is somebody who knows that they're trying to call me. Me. So I went ahead and answered, and sure enough, it was it was the daughter. And she was like, can you call grandma?
I was like, well, I I can. Going on. And she's like, we just got into a a big fight. I think I I think I broke his nose, covered him blood, and this is the neighbor's phone because I had to go over to the neighbor's neighbor's house to, to ask him. I was like, well, where's your phone? Because I'd just gotten her a replacement phone, not a new phone, but just a replacement phone because her last one got obliterated. And she's like, he's somewhere in the yard. I don't know. He was throwing me around, and, so I lost a hold of my phone and my purse, and so I don't know where anything's at right now. It's like, well, alright. Let me see if I can get a hold of Penny. So I called around and got a hold of, grandma, and she's and she's like, well, I mean, there's not really much. I'm fixed to be leaving. I'm I'm leaving first thing in the morning to go do a, do an event over in Missouri. I was like, well, okay.
And got to thinking about it. I was like, you well, if you're going to Missouri, you're passing by my house then, aren't you? She's like, yeah. I was like, let's see if I can get Jaden to go over and grab her in a little bit and and whatever they can grab and see if they should he'll bring them see if he'll hold on to them till till you come by and maybe you can bring them over to over to the house. And she's like, yeah. That would that would work great because she needs to be away from from Amarillo. Yeah. Exactly. So we get I get a hold of Jaden. Jaden's called. Yep. Yep. Alright. Sure. Yeah. We'll do this. So we get him to head and so he goes over and gets her. Police had already shown up, and and the police were, like, going, no. You don't need to go in there.
You just need to separate yourself from the, from the, the circumstance. They were able to find her phone, find her purse, and and stuff, and she was able to go out. And so she stayed overnight for two nights, I believe. And then but nugget decided to, found a way to get through the blocking, and get to her. And I was tell and told her, like, you might wanna go grab your shit today because, if not, it's all gonna be it's all gonna be thrown out because I'm leaving. And, she was like so she got her all worked up and and stuff. And so she's like, well, I've gotta go get this. And Janelle was trying her damnedest to go, no. Just stay here. This it's not the all the stuff there is nowhere near as important as you wanna put on. She's like, well, there's of of of Aspen when we're she was little and or when she was newborn and all that. And I was like, how and she was like, I I get that, but it's you don't need to we don't need to go you don't need to go over there right now. And I talked to she was Jan was calling me, and Lexi was calling me, and everybody else was calling me, you know, the following day. And I'm like, you know, it's, like, 02:00. There actually wasn't even 02:00. It was, like, 01:00, and I was working at night. So I'm like, yeah. Oh, okay. Hold up. Let me think here. Let me know. I'm trying to get my brain to to engage into second gear now.
And just, you know, finally, things I got to think through things through, and I was like, alright. Well, if she wants to go, you go ahead and go. She's like, well, what about the dogs? I was like, the dogs will be fine. Dogs will just hang out to wonder why in the hell they're being left alone all all night long, but they'll be fine. They they can get it outside. They go out in the backyard. They can poo. They're not gonna do anything to the cats. They may chase them a little bit, but that's gonna be the worst of it. They know how to get away from them. And and so told her just go on over there and be there first thing in the morning, and you don't allow him any time to spend any alone time with her.
And and that that way, if she, you know, if he tries to he doesn't have the opportunity to try to try to smooth because anytime he was trying to do the manipulations beforehand, it was, hey. Come here. I need to talk to you. And he would always pull her off to the side or into another room, and they would have their discussions and, and stuff. And so Jan was like, yeah. I won't stay, and I'll be by her side the whole time. I was like, alright. And he goes, this guy, I'm sorry that I have to put you into harm's way there because he may get pissed off. You're not following what he wants you to do. And she's like, oh, no. No. He tries to do that. I'll I'll sit on his scrawny little ass. And so they get over there, and he's like, well, I don't know if I started to play a little bit play some games. It's like, I don't know if I'm in the right mind right now. So, we're we can do it. We'll just have to do it tomorrow. I was like, no. We can't do it. Y'all can't do it tomorrow. One, you've got we've got dogs. There'll be two nights and and stuff. So you're just gonna have to he's gonna have to do it. And I I was like, you know, we'll pay Jaden to, she's on the she's on the lease, so we will pay Jaden to to unlock the front door if need be.
And then about three or four hours later, he was like, you know what? I've got I'll just go ahead and we'll do 08:00 tonight. And I was like, goddamn, dude. Let's make it later than than anything. Why don't you? And so it's like, fine. Whatever. We'll just do that. And he showed up, or they got there about fifteen minutes early, and he wasn't there. And I really like, oh, great. He's he's gonna jerk us around. But no. No. Out at 08:00, he he pulls in with a friend in a friend's car and unlocks the door, goes in there for a half second, comes back out. And then then because he was staying there, Jaden was there, didn't wanna cause any scene, so he hung out on the street.
Jana was kinda grabbing stuff off the porch, taking it to, Jaden's car, and Lexi was inside the house grabbing what she needed to do, grab and take off. And they did that for about fifteen, twenty minutes or so, and then he gets out of the out of the car because he was just sitting in the car the whole time. He goes in, grabs a bag, a a a case of, beer out of the fridge and puts it in the, puts it in the friend's car, and they drive off, leaving them all by themselves. And they were all three of them were like, this is a trap.
Better hurry it up. So all three of them run-in there, and they start grabbing shit and just tossing it in there. Jaden goes and takes their tel takes the television because that's the television that Jaden's boss gave him and that he gave to Alexis so that they had a television they could use. And so he he was like, oh, my Kelly's gonna let this asshole have it. So using every every tool but the proper, Allen wrench, he was able to get the, television off the, off the wall. And, they got everything packed up, thrown in the car. There's a few things that were behind, like, little bits bed frame itself because, again, he didn't have the didn't have the Allen wrenches to be able to break it down.
Also Right. He didn't have any way of really toting it in a so so lost that, but she got her mattresses as which are just toddler mattresses. So it's not they weren't, you know, they're not excessively thick or or wide or big or anything like that. They got all that, and so she's done good after that. She's like, well, I'm just gonna stay at Jaden's again. But everybody was like, no. No. No. You don't need to stay at Jaden's. We'll, we'll find a way. We'll get all this moved up. You need to hang up in in, Gutefral. And she's like, no. No. I'm not gonna do that. I'm not gonna let him kick me out of out of this town. And it's like, well, it's not much of a town. It's really in that you're living in. I'm honestly, because I'm not the biggest fan of Bammer Island. It's a little flat there, you know. But Yeah. Just a little bit. You know, in shoes just a yeah. Just a little bit. The only the only topology is actually goes down into the ground at the Paladero.
But, yeah, we so alright. Fine. He can stay, but there it's gonna be on and I am going to I will make it a mission to enforce this. If I find out to go back to him, I'm taking little and taking her over to Max's, and you will have to fight me for it. Because, no, we're not her in the middle of because now it's violent. We know it's violent because the back of when I've got pictures, the back of her shirt is covered in blood. Right. Back of her pants, covered in blood. All his blood because she, oh, she apparently laid into his into his face because he was choking her out.
[01:43:35] Duuude-Ron :
Well, good.
[01:43:36] Rich Chelson:
So yeah. No. I told her, I was like, yeah. Well, that's good. And we've a little more talking and stuff and come to find out some of he had a whole list of rules that she could of things that she could do and and things that she couldn't do and things like she couldn't do. She couldn't drink Doctor Pepper. Didn't want her drinking soda and and stuff. Couldn't listen to certain types of music. He didn't want her listening to Lady Gaga because Lady Gaga is a fucking horn. Yeah. I ain't gonna have you ain't gonna listen to that type of shit. It's like, okay. Well, you listen to kinda crappy music that that, you know, whatever, you know, teach their own. So Yeah.
I mean, it's just, you know, stupid shit like that. It was like, I'm going to control every aspect of your life. And it's like, well, you could try. And, you know, that that's part of how a lot of manipulators and control or in control freaks like that work. And that's one reason why the trauma bond is so such a devious device that these people use on other folks. Yeah. Because, you know, he starts off with this huge wonderful love bomb. Boom. You know, all the it treats her to everything, you know. The you know, money's no object type of stuff. Just all those wonderful things, all these great experiences and stuff. And then, you know, after that, it's like, oh, well, but I don't want you doing this because of this, you know. Because I don't want you to do, you know, you can't be eating you can't be using toothpaste that's got fluoride in it because, you know, I guess, because he's listening to Alex Jones and turns the freaking frog's gate or whatever, you know.
Yeah. Whatever their his his full of thought behind that are. And so it was just I could tell she was going to, a, rebound real hard. Not rebound as in, like, go find another guy, but she's fixing that. She's gonna, a, decompress in a in a strange way, which, likely, it wasn't too strange. She's colored her hair orange. Okay. And I told him, it's like, dude, something else that you probably wanna do, and I would highly recommend you do so, is take pictures and videos of you doing everything that he for forbids you to do. And anytime he reaches out to talk to you, you send him just just send him a picture, you know, a video of you pouring some Doctor Pepper into a glass and taking a drink from it, you know, or you're putting, you know, Crest toothpaste on a toothbrush, or brushing teeth with it, or, you know, whatever it is that you know that he'd like you to do, show him that it's you're doing it, and it's, no, I'm not going back to that field again. I'm not going back to that pasture.
And and as a means to just kinda give him the big old fat middle finger and say, fuck you, dude. No. And he still didn't a whole 100% get it because, apparently, he decided, oh, well, what's see. I got a got a three bedroom house, so whenever you're ready to come back. And she was, like, going, what part of no. Are you not understanding? I'm not coming back. She's, like, well, it's real hard to for this marriage to work out if you don't cut if if we stay separated. She's, like, we're not staying separated. Eventually, I'm we're done. We're we're off. We're this is this is kaput. We're you know, she's gonna she's gonna aim for see if she can get a an annulment done because of the abuse that's been happening. Right.
And, hopefully, it worked. I think it's going to. I think I think she's gonna have to just go through the the the the steps for an actual divorce. But, hopefully, she realizes, hey, no, we're not playing this game. And next time a guy wants to go and promises you the world and then makes makes you have to make concessions to be able to live in that world, then no. You want a guy that accepts you for who you are, and you accept the guy for who that's where y'all have to start at before you do the 100 principle, because he wasn't giving you a 100%.
He was demanding a 100%, and that's, you know, that's not how the the 100 principle works. But now he's he he was a he freaking work of art. I mean, he was they were kinda joking around and made a Jaden and, her her ex little bit's dad are good friends, and so Max was with them. And, he made the comment something about comment comment that kinda didn't say Lexi was a bad mom, but, you know, just kinda it was a jokingly referral to mom to Lexi being a bad mom. Yeah. And lit her up. That like, fuck you. You can leave right now. I don't even want I don't even know why you're fucking here. And, I mean, this is we're in a restaurant. She just went from zero to a 100.
[01:48:51] Duuude-Ron :
Well, that means And, my son is just saying that's the thing. I don't give a fuck where you at. You out in public, you're in church, get the fuck out. You know? Well
[01:49:02] Rich Chelson:
I don't care what you're doing with that. Stay here. No. No. What that what she was responding to, the same thing because he bay he she interpreted what he said to mean exactly what what Michael would say. Because Michael used to sit there and just say that she was the world's shittiest mom and a horrible mom and a piece of shit mom and all this other type of stuff. And so it was a basically, almost like a a PTSD style reaction to something that she's used to do used to be in being told. And so there's a part of me that goes, okay. Well, I get that, but at the same time, it the my whole, you know, my whole theory or not theory, but my whole philosophy in life is that's just a mental response.
If you sit back and think about it for a moment, you'll see, hey. That meant nothing. That anything Max says doesn't mean anything, or anything Michael says, honestly, doesn't mean anything. It's just a thought. You Right. You have decided that you, level agreed with that and got a little too close to truth that you're that you don't like about yourself. And so, yeah, you just you easily go from from green light to red line.
[01:50:28] Duuude-Ron :
And so Like I just did.
[01:50:32] Rich Chelson:
Now if you're but you have to be very aware of what your thoughts are. Right. That you have to you have to just be aware of what your thought. If if Max was saying that malice of how horrible of a mom you are, it'd been, yeah. No. I get you. I agree, Max. But, no, it was just it was a joke, you know, like, oh, yeah. You know You know, being facetious in saying, yeah. Oh, yeah. You're such a terrible mom. Because we all know that she's she actually is a a great mom.
[01:51:04] Duuude-Ron :
Right.
[01:51:05] Rich Chelson:
She has the and all that. Well, you see, though And so
[01:51:11] Duuude-Ron :
You know that's the thing. Saying saying something.
[01:51:15] Rich Chelson:
No. I was just saying that she accepted Michael's daughter a 100%, and that's one of the reasons why she was kinda hanging out hanging on was just to be a a buffer for Kinsley. And we're me and Jana both were, like, going, like, we get that. But at the same time, Kinsley is not your responsibility. Yeah. You see? I wish that she life, shitty household like she has been. But at the same time, what if that's the life she's meant to live?
[01:51:48] Duuude-Ron :
No.
[01:51:49] Rich Chelson:
She can get get on the other side and be a major advocate against, you know, shitty fathers like like Michael, which again, that whole, you know, I could even apply my my philosophy to what I just said. And Michael being a shitty father is just a thought that I have. Is it true? No. But I and I think he it's just my thought on that. I'm going off of my experiences, my my and my thoughts about what the circumstance is, and that's how how I view Michael and whether he is a good guy, bad guy, piece of shit, you know, or what.
Right? So but now she's doing good all in all. So far, she's, she said she's had a a couple of, times where she was she went ahead and just completely blocked them blocked them on everything for and, just so that he wasn't if she felt particularly weak against any of his, and against any of his words, apparently, there was a couple days where she she just blocked and was like, I'm not gonna deal with any of it. Don't wanna hear about it. Let's see this. See why you keep one Play with fire as it is.
[01:53:07] Duuude-Ron :
Yeah. They do they have a child together? No. They don't. They can talk. Then then then block him on everything and don't fucking let go talk to a lawyer. Let the lawyer sit
[01:53:24] Rich Chelson:
here. For for that to be what she does. But at the moment, she is not doing that. She she is blocking. And then she unblocks them. And again, that is that's the whole trauma bond
[01:53:39] Duuude-Ron :
deal. It's like, I know. I know. You know? Trust me. I've known I've known a lot of people to to go through that, and it's like, just fucking listen. Walk the fuck away. Turn around. Right. Let them see your ass, and walk the fuck away.
[01:53:55] Rich Chelson:
Well, I've already told her. If she goes back to him and she ends up saying, hey. I'm done. I'm out of here. I'm gonna be like, okay. You're done. You're out of here. But know that when I when you're out of here, you're out of here. I will personally load you up in the you a little bit into the car. Actually, I will take you into the car. Little bit's gonna go with go over to Max's. You and and me and your stuff is going down to Hill Country. I'm gonna drop you off with Nana, and you can figure out how to how to how to make money out in the middle of nowhere.
[01:54:33] Duuude-Ron :
Right?
[01:54:34] Rich Chelson:
And you can fill you can build a life, you know, eight hours away from Amarillo because you're not taking your car down.
[01:54:43] Duuude-Ron :
Right. And
[01:54:44] Rich Chelson:
Your car may make it down there eventually for a while.
[01:54:49] Unknown:
Yeah. Just I said these
[01:54:52] Duuude-Ron :
these young kids need to stop trying to think, oh, it'll get better. It'll get better. Walk the fuck away. There's many fish in the sea on both sides.
[01:55:02] Rich Chelson:
There's better there's better way better men out there.
[01:55:06] Duuude-Ron :
Yes. There is. And and same thing if if, you know, we was talking about a guy. There's better women out there. You ain't gotta stay in this shit. Even if you have a child, you don't have to stay in this because kids nowadays adjust a whole lot faster than we did.
[01:55:23] Rich Chelson:
Well, actually, we all we all adjusted pretty damn fast.
[01:55:27] Duuude-Ron :
Yeah. But but it seems like kids nowadays really more adjust a little quicker than we did.
[01:55:35] Rich Chelson:
No.
[01:55:36] Duuude-Ron :
Not all of them, but, I mean, there's a lot yeah. A lot of times well, I mean, shoot. The kids have, you know, a screen in front of them, so they don't Right. Worry about it too much. I mean, they do worry about it, but they have their online friends.
[01:55:53] Rich Chelson:
Yeah. Yeah. Absolutely. So but,
[01:55:57] Duuude-Ron :
well, let's hope let's hope she stays away and doesn't go back. Well, that's what I'm hoping so too is that she, Grow the hell up, girl. Yeah. Gets the,
[01:56:09] Rich Chelson:
grows grows and keeps the the cajones that she discovered she had and, right,
[01:56:16] Duuude-Ron :
and and, and holds on to them. So And, hey. I've got the perfect Christmas gift for her this year, a fucking lodge cast iron skillet. Best attitudinal adjustment in the country for anybody.
[01:56:36] Rich Chelson:
Now I was, I told her, it's like, hell, I gave you a damn ceramic ceramic coated cast iron Dutch oven. You should've just taken that lid and used it as a Frisbee at his head.
[01:56:50] Duuude-Ron :
Right. Yeah. Right. That son of a bitch right there would've took his head right off. Oh, hell yeah.
[01:56:58] Rich Chelson:
Been beautiful to hear that thing go.
[01:57:02] Duuude-Ron :
Right. That's funny. Dude, you still awake?
[01:57:07] Unknown:
Yep. Okay.
[01:57:10] Duuude-Ron :
You ain't taking your drugs yet. I know that, but still Oh, yeah. I still I still wonder about you sometimes.
[01:57:18] Unknown:
Well, yeah, it was an early morning this morning. So nope. Took the drugs about an hour and a half ago.
[01:57:26] Duuude-Ron :
Oh, shit. And you're still up? Damn.
[01:57:29] Unknown:
Well, I try to be generally active for this, you know, podcast. Right. You know? Try not to be rude, but, you know, sometimes the eyeballs just close a little bit too hard and have a a very long blink. And one time that I did and you guys were yelling at me, you still didn't wake up. Woke up. He was like, well, I think the podcast is over.
[01:58:07] Rich Chelson:
Yep. Yep. Looks like we we have up and and called it a night. So oh, dude. Dude.
[01:58:14] Duuude-Ron :
I just remembered something. Yeah.
[01:58:17] Unknown:
You Oh, what did you remember?
[01:58:21] Duuude-Ron :
You remember that lovely laptop you brought me?
[01:58:24] Unknown:
Yes.
[01:58:25] Duuude-Ron :
Yeah. Well, I looked at it. I looked at it. Brian, you're gonna appreciate this one. Oh, what? Yeah. No. It's running Windows Vista. Oh my god. Vista. What's the hell? An
[01:58:42] Rich Chelson:
ME?
[01:58:44] Duuude-Ron :
No. It wasn't ME. It was VISTA. This VISTA was after ME, but, just barely. But and, I even I was scared to actually put it online, but I did.
[01:59:00] Rich Chelson:
See, all of a sudden, every time on the Internet gets sucked into
[01:59:07] Duuude-Ron :
And and, there was four optional updates, like like, for your video card and stuff like this. And I I tried to download the updates, and it's like, yeah. No, dude. I was like, what the fuck are you talking about, man? These these drivers are 30 fucking years old. No. We ain't even got them on our servers no more. They're like, kiss my ass. So, yeah, you know.
[01:59:33] Rich Chelson:
Those, those drivers I forget exactly, what the site is, but there's one that actually holds old driver. It's there's a old driver website. It's almost like download.com,
[01:59:47] Duuude-Ron :
except it's like driver.com or something like that. Yeah. No. No. I've I've heard of it, but this this laptop was made in o seven. Okay? The last time it was updated was 06/17/2018. That was the last time it was updated for anything. And,
[02:00:09] Unknown:
you know,
[02:00:10] Duuude-Ron :
yeah, it it yeah. Windows doesn't even recognize it. I mean, it's activated, but and even I move faster than that laptop, dude. Hate to say it, but it's true.
[02:00:24] Unknown:
So Okay. So It's can a different operating system be installed? Well Or does it not have the capacity to hold it?
[02:00:34] Duuude-Ron :
Wells well, funny you should ask that. Yes. There is. And believe it or not, I found one that that actually that I'm trying out now on on my laptop, the one that wouldn't stay working. Okay. And it's it's working on this one. The only thing is is Linux. But it's it's I I say a new distribution, but it's not because it's been out for fifteen, eighteen years, something like that. But it's eighteen years, something like that. But it's called Zorin, Zulu Oscar Romeo India November, and it looks like windows. The Yeah. The windows, the icons, and stuff like that It's full of things like that. Looks like Windows. And, most of the packages or the the programs, you download, you one click, and it goes it finds all all the libraries, everything it needs to download the the program and make it run, and it puts it all together without having to open up a terminal, which I think is awesome.
But the thing is, you know, it's it's it's a little different operating system, and there's it's not like a regular Windows computer. So I didn't know I didn't know if you'd want it. It I mean, the one that you had me look at, I can put it on there. It could run it. It wouldn't be lightning quick or anything, but it would make it usable. You know? You could, you know, type out documents, write documents, you know, PDF, shit like that. I mean, you could basically use it as a laptop and everything. So
[02:02:37] Unknown:
Okay. Well, the original the original reason why I bought it from my boss was, you know, to have to get it operational for the grandkids.
[02:02:51] Duuude-Ron :
Well, here's the thing. Now I don't know your grandkids, so so so forgive me. I'm assuming some things here. But, honestly, their phones actually do things faster than what this laptop would do them at. Yeah. They Yes. Their phones or tablets or, whatever they have now?
[02:03:15] Unknown:
Yeah. Tablets.
[02:03:16] Duuude-Ron :
Okay. Yeah. The I mean, they they would look at this thing and be like, what is this? It's to them, they're like, this is a rotary phone because it's so big and bulky. But it does work. It does power up. It does hold charge. You know? But, again, their their tablets are a lot stronger than this laptop. Yes.
[02:03:45] Unknown:
Okay.
[02:03:46] Duuude-Ron :
But it's yours. You tell me what you want done, and I'll do it.
[02:03:51] Unknown:
Well, I know that for the most part, I have no need for a computer because I just don't do anything on a computer.
[02:04:03] Duuude-Ron :
Right.
[02:04:04] Unknown:
Could it run your the shit for your ham radio? Where that's where the computer, can it run your operating system for your ham?
[02:04:19] Duuude-Ron :
I believe so. I'm well, actually, remember my laptop that, wouldn't stay up and running when when, you were down? Correct. Yeah. Well well, actually, I was I was I was just able to put this Linux system on late this afternoon, and I'm I'm still learning it. I mean, it's it's, like I said, it's not hard, but there is still a little bit of a learning curve. Yeah. It's you have to a bit differently than what you're used to. Yeah. Yeah. And so and so I'm I'm not sure I'm not sure exactly what, you know, what I can and can't do yet. I'm I'm still trying. I could I could possibly use it, you know, because well, actually, I actually, I could because I I could put ham clock on it and, so I could have all my numbers and stuff and have it sitting up on the shelf.
Yep. So, you know
[02:05:20] Unknown:
but it would definitely be a lot more reliable than the computer that you currently had. And I know that you said you had gotten one of your old computers to take over that computer that you're running for the hams.
[02:05:34] Duuude-Ron :
Yeah. And and and you see the thing is, it's it was funny because I had two older computers. And one, I tried to get it up and running. The fucking CPU on that thing hit a 100% and stayed. And, yeah, it just it it just fucking blew itself up because it wouldn't even let me install this Linux operating system so I could slow the disk down because the disk was at a 100%.
[02:06:08] Unknown:
Oh, okay.
[02:06:10] Duuude-Ron :
And so that's why that's why I threw it on this laptop. I'm not trying it yet on on this other desktop that I'm using for my ham radio stuff because of this contest tomorrow. Okay. The contest starts tomorrow, so I'm not I'm not doing any major anything until next week
[02:06:29] Unknown:
Yeah. I gotcha.
[02:06:30] Duuude-Ron :
With this desktop. You know? So because I'm gonna be looking at maybe changing my login program. I don't know yet. I just I but I'm not doing anything till after the weekend. And, so,
[02:06:44] Unknown:
I mean Well, in your opinion, if the if it's slower than what the boys have because, you know, I was thinking that they could probably download some games or something. No.
[02:06:57] Duuude-Ron :
No, dude. There there is no game right now that would run on on on that laptop.
[02:07:06] Rich Chelson:
Yeah. Okay.
[02:07:07] Duuude-Ron :
I I honestly, I don't I don't know if solitaire, an old, old version of solitaire maybe, but nothing new. Okay. You know what I mean? I mean, I'm just I'm just being honest with you, dude. It's it's it's it's an old laptop.
[02:07:26] Unknown:
I mean, I Yeah. It is.
[02:07:28] Duuude-Ron :
I haven't seen one this old in a while. Okay. But
[02:07:34] Unknown:
Well, if it can run whatever operating system you need for the ham, And because the I'm sure the battery is really good and, you know, it's yes. It's an old operating system, but the computer, you know, has you know, it's not a beat up computer.
[02:07:59] Duuude-Ron :
Yeah. Oh, no. I mean I mean, it's it it it still looks nice. It's I mean, for what? It's, what, o seven to 25 what? 18 years old? It it it looks really, really good, to be honest with you. You know? But and, yeah, the battery I mean, as far as as everything, you know, when I fired it up, it ran. Yeah. It's Yeah. Hey, Brian. It's got three gigs of RAM. And it's got a 2.2 gig processor, but that's only on a single core and has AMD Turion 64 as, like I said.
[02:08:42] Rich Chelson:
Just yeah. It can't. I mean A little bit of slow word processing on that.
[02:08:47] Duuude-Ron :
Yeah. I mean,
[02:08:48] Rich Chelson:
you can do it. Oh, yeah. No. Yeah. Yeah. It'll it'll it'll do it, but don't, don't expect that you're it'll it'll keep up with you when you're typing. You'll be turn you know, you'd be hammering out a paragraph or two, and then when you stop, it may decide to go, oh, oh, oh, it's time for me to go. Right.
[02:09:11] Duuude-Ron :
It's like, oh, damn. Hang on. I I need to go pee. It might be done catching up by the time you get back. Oh, okay. I gotcha. I mean, it's yeah. I I mean, it was funny when I pulled it out. I was like, you know, the stickers are even intact on this thing.
[02:09:29] Unknown:
Oh, yeah.
[02:09:30] Duuude-Ron :
I'm serious, man. Brian, I'm just I mean, yes. The stickers are intact. And I'm like, there is no way this thing is still running. I'm like, Vista? I I I pushed the power button and sure as shit, Vista come up. I'm like, oh my god. That's insane. I I hadn't seen Vista since, god, for fucking ever. I remember when Vista come out. I loved it. Oh, yeah. Because I hated it. I mean, Vista was the next best thing, and then Windows seven, he had oh, yeah. Game over. It was game on. You know? And then And now we're
[02:10:12] Unknown:
it was Vista, then Windows seven. We're currently at what? Windows 11 or 12? Or
[02:10:20] Duuude-Ron :
Yeah. Because from seven, we no. 11. We're we're on eleven right now. But, yeah, from seven, we went to eight eight point one, which bombed. It it it sucked. And, it, and then what where'd we go from there, Brian? Ten? Straight to ten? They they skipped nine.
[02:10:42] Rich Chelson:
Yeah. You had Windows seven, eight, and then, yeah, it skipped nine, jumped ten.
[02:10:50] Duuude-Ron :
Okay. And then eleven. And it and it and you see ten, actually, on the fourteenth last week, the support for Windows 10 is no more unless unless you unless you had a verified downloaded copy and you asked to have a year extended, they'll go to October 26, and that's it. There's no more for 10. That's why that's why I'm looking at at this. I don't know why I got to thinking of this, but I'm like, shit. Let me look at Linux. You know? Because I really don't wanna have to go buy another Windows 11 computer. In fact, I don't want to. You know? So that's why I was like and then I saw Zorn because I was gonna get Mint.
And, you you know, and I was like, I saw something about Zorn. I'm like, what's that? So I looked into it, and I'm like, oh, that looks easier. But it still has the the the protocols and safety stuff of Linux.
[02:12:03] Unknown:
So Okay. Well, with that said, if you can get it set up for to be your ham computer to run all your stuff that you need to do and all the stuff that you showed me, then just keep it for your ham computer.
[02:12:25] Duuude-Ron :
Okay. Alright. Appreciate it, man. Yeah. I can I I can figure something out with it? In fact, actually, that that actually like I said, I'll think more on it next week. Right now, I'm I'm almost in the contest mode. So my Gotcha. My brain ain't thinking right now.
[02:12:48] Unknown:
Not not that it ever does, but, you know Right. One day maybe will give you the benefit of the doubt, but today is not that day and tomorrow is not looking very much better.
[02:13:06] Duuude-Ron :
Oh, shit. Yeah. No. I'll figure it out. I'll see I'll see I'll see what I can do with it because I've got some ideas.
[02:13:15] Unknown:
Okay.
[02:13:16] Duuude-Ron :
I can at least put hand clock on it and, you know, use it for that, which because because yeah. See. Did you see my hand hand clock when you was down there? I honestly don't remember. Because reason reason I'm wondering is because my, my little my, little tiny computer that I had hand clock on just fucking shot shit. And I'm like, you sons of bitches. You die on me for no reason. None. And so I wound up throwing that thing away because they I mean, shit. It it is about the size of a cigarette pack, maybe a little bigger. And, it lasted, I don't know, about a year, six months, something like that. But I I found out I can get hand clocked for free and you gotta pay for it. So, that's another reason why I was I was wanting to look into this new Lanix operating system.
[02:14:24] Unknown:
Oh, okay.
[02:14:26] Duuude-Ron :
And everything like that. So
[02:14:30] Unknown:
Well, then just then just have at it.
[02:14:33] Duuude-Ron :
Well, I appreciate it. You're welcome.
[02:14:37] Unknown:
Okay. Because it says well, with the age and if it's not anything that would benefit the boys on anything that they wanted to do on it, then it to me, it's just a fucking brick.
[02:14:52] Duuude-Ron :
Right? Well, it weighs about as much as a brick, dude.
[02:14:56] Unknown:
Yeah. That's you're right about that. Yeah. That's called an anti theft device.
[02:15:02] Rich Chelson:
What's that, Brian? That's called an anti theft feature, actually. Right. Right?
[02:15:09] Unknown:
They tell me But I think there's I suppose there was a wireless mouse in there, and there is a whole bunch of shit in that bag.
[02:15:18] Duuude-Ron :
Yeah. I I didn't look through everything in the bag yet.
[02:15:22] Unknown:
Yeah. There's a wireless mouse in there.
[02:15:25] Duuude-Ron :
Okay.
[02:15:26] Unknown:
There was an external fan.
[02:15:29] Duuude-Ron :
Yeah. I saw that. But, yeah, I'll look I'll look I'll look like I said, I'll I'll look to it next week and play with it some more. But, yeah, I can get this Linux system on it because the, hardware requirements are low for Linux.
[02:15:48] Unknown:
Oh, okay.
[02:15:49] Duuude-Ron :
Windows, not so much. Windows 11 is almost like that program I was talking about when you jumped on that. Evan Pro Tools. They want every fucking bit of power you have and your firstborn and half the second.
[02:16:08] Unknown:
That's a lot of power. Yeah. It is.
[02:16:11] Duuude-Ron :
Right? But that's what Windows wants. You know? That's what Pro Tools wants. And Pro Tools, yeah, get rid of me, bitch. Uh-huh. I'll fix that. Blue screen, man, I was I was so mad when I saw that because I knew I lost everything. When I saw the blue screen of death, you you don't come out of that in saving anything. I never have.
[02:16:38] Rich Chelson:
Well, if you have
[02:16:40] Unknown:
backup, yeah. So this one didn't. So this one took all your shit and said and kicked it out. Said, fuck you. You don't get your shit back either.
[02:16:49] Duuude-Ron :
Yeah. Yeah.
[02:16:51] Unknown:
Okay.
[02:16:52] Duuude-Ron :
It fucking cleaned this thing like it was fucking in the factory still. What did you say it was?
[02:17:00] Rich Chelson:
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That important thing.
[02:17:02] Duuude-Ron :
Okay.
[02:17:03] Rich Chelson:
Yeah. Yep. Yep. I spouted it, and my brain said, okay. I don't need it no more.
[02:17:11] Unknown:
So, basically, it was kinda like the Scrooge taking the Christmas tree and the presents Oh, yeah. From Cindy Lou Cindy Lou whose house.
[02:17:20] Duuude-Ron :
Yep. Mhmm. Yeah. Oh, okay. Oh, yeah, dude. And and didn't even leave a note. Didn't even leave a note. I was just like, oh my god.
[02:17:32] Unknown:
So how much stuff did you leave? I mean,
[02:17:35] Duuude-Ron :
honestly,
[02:17:37] Rich Chelson:
the oh, that's what it was. That's what I said. Okay. Right. Oh, I was just saying if, yeah, if, depending on how well you've got your your backups set up on on the, on your, on your laptop, It may just be where you need to just put do actually, you might even have been able to just take a, like, if you were able to get a copy of the, of Windows, which you were talking about how you were struggling to do, but you could actually put that We're able to get a copy of it and put it onto onto a thumb drive. You can actually put it in and and do a repair.
[02:18:14] Duuude-Ron :
You know, I didn't even think about that. I mean, I did I I mean, I was I was able to get it straight straight down to the computer. I mean, honestly and you see with this laptop, just about most of the stuff I did on it, I always moved to my external hard drive anyway, like, because this is a computer that I would edit the podcast on and stuff like this. You know? Uh-huh. And something when we started this podcast well over a year ago, year and a half ago now, I'd I'd always heard, you know, all the big names like Dave Jackson, Eric Johnson, all them boys say, back up your shit.
[02:19:00] Rich Chelson:
Mhmm.
[02:19:00] Duuude-Ron :
Back up your shit. You know? I mean, they didn't use those exact words, but
[02:19:07] Rich Chelson:
you know? Yeah. So, They were saying back up your shit, though. Right. And so
[02:19:12] Duuude-Ron :
I would take the episodes, the chapter art, and all like that, And I'd throw them over to I've got a two terabyte external hard drive that is, yeah, smaller than a pack of cigarettes by far.
[02:19:28] Unknown:
Mhmm. And,
[02:19:30] Duuude-Ron :
it I just been throwing everything over there. So I didn't lose I didn't keep a lot of stuff on this laptop. Thank goodness. Okay. So so I I mean, I lost some stuff. What I lost, I don't remember. And if I can't remember it, I don't need it. Probably wanna. Exactly. It you know, obviously, it wasn't that important. So so yeah. So, Brian, have you looked at our numbers?
[02:20:01] Rich Chelson:
No. Actually, I haven't looked at our numbers. Let me, well,
[02:20:05] Duuude-Ron :
let me give you a snapshot of our o p three numbers.
[02:20:11] Rich Chelson:
Alright. Pod Stats numbers. Yep. Pod Stats real quick.
[02:20:15] Duuude-Ron :
1,014 all time downloads. Nice. It it said we had 84 downloads in September. In October, we've had a 167 so far. 28 countries. And our biggest download day was I think at the end, I'd have to look at Python because it tells me what day, but we had 74 downloads in one freaking day.
[02:20:48] Rich Chelson:
Yep. 10/11/1974.
[02:20:51] Duuude-Ron :
Yeah. And something I've noticed, apparently, someone in Great Britain has found us. Quite a few people because as far as as far as downloads, and this is by o p three stats if if I remember right. Great. Yeah. It is by o p three stats. 85 downloads to America at a 121, and that's, I think, for last month.
[02:21:26] Rich Chelson:
Yep. Top countries Yep. US. Great Britain's got the 85. And then then we got two from Canada.
[02:21:36] Duuude-Ron :
Right? But, seriously, so so, apparently, someone or a multitude of someone's found us in Great Britain and are laughing their ass off, or they're screaming and yelling, but probably laughing knowing them. So thank you for listening and laughing at us. Send us an email, [email protected] or [email protected], and you'll get Brian. And, hey, say hey from across the pond. Wave a hand. We don't care. You know? Tell us to bugger off. I know I didn't say it like y'all do, but who cares?
[02:22:14] Unknown:
Yep. And and just think we'll get an email with a great big finger telling us that we're number one.
[02:22:22] Rich Chelson:
Yeah. Hey. We'll take that too. It's alright. Yeah. Looking at, the episode data, though, it looks like our August 10, Hacking Up the Hedges and Other Life Lessons It's probably one of our more popular ones because
[02:22:39] Bryan Goodwin:
by day three, we had 11 downloads.
[02:22:42] Rich Chelson:
And then day 30, we'd actually have ended up even getting the whole whopping, 30, 15 downloads, but it was, out of out of everybody else, that's probably one of the larger ones, which, you know, we're not we're not gonna break the Internet anytime soon, but still, hell, man. That's not a bad little little
[02:23:03] Duuude-Ron :
Ready? Hey. I'm not hey. I'm not I'm not freaking complaining on on any of this. You know?
[02:23:12] Rich Chelson:
Right. Oh, hey. There you go. That's a pot statue. You can actually see what was the biggest the number one show episode, and it's cockles of my heart. And that's got 56 downloads.
[02:23:24] Duuude-Ron :
Yep. That's that's the top one, man. It's number two. The whole ham sandwich
[02:23:30] Rich Chelson:
is, three. Big words, fuzzy videos, and private time. I love these names. Bad breath and schmo nuts.
[02:23:44] Duuude-Ron :
Man, it's so many styles we come up with.
[02:23:47] Rich Chelson:
Banner pickles. I still love that one. It's probably Yeah. Yeah. I do. But yeah. No. We've it's been that's just for the last thirty days. If we hit the last year, I wonder what we come up with. Say it's top pod apps podcast guru is our number one listener. App Fountain, Apple Podcast, Amazon Music, Overcast, Alexa enabled devices. Oh, someone's listening to us over Alexa. Google Podcast, Castbox. There's still someone using Google Podcast. Well, that was over a year. So, yeah, they just got everything closed
[02:24:30] Duuude-Ron :
this this year or so. Yeah. But yeah. And so Android phones are our biggest downloads, and next is Apple computers. Yeah. And then and then the iPhone, and then Windows computers.
[02:24:43] Rich Chelson:
And we got some folks who are just old enough where they're going, I'd rather just use a tech computer and hear what they have to say.
[02:24:51] Duuude-Ron :
Well, that's fine too. We don't care.
[02:24:55] Rich Chelson:
We don't give any damn. It was our weekly analytics overall change. Or not here. The overall change, we're down 2.4%. Daily uploads is about 2.9. Trend changes, four changes detected. I don't know what that means. Statistical confidence is not significant. Data volume, a 102 downloads. See, now this one these John Spurlock puts a lot of information out here, but, boy, I don't understand what a lot of it even means. Increased They
[02:25:33] Duuude-Ron :
So See, that's why that's why I like looking at Python because even though it's been updated, you know, the, layout Uh-huh. Has been updated a few times. It's a lot easier to figure out. Right. I mean, I'm not saying I'm not saying I agree with all of it, but the layout, you can look at the layout and understand it. And when you hover over some, it tells you. That's why I like it. But, yeah, in September, on Pod Home, it said we had 359 downloads. And so far this month, we've had 270. So I got a feeling if if if we, if if our friends over there in across the pond get busy, we could outdo September's downloads.
So, yeah, tell your friends. Tell your family. Share it out. We don't care. Yeah. Definitely don't tell them. Stranger's phone and download it on their phone. What are they gonna say? Nothing? Yeah. I mean, come on now. And still, eighteen hundred and nineteen hundred central time is our biggest download times Yeah. By far. So between six and seven in the evening is when people like well, actually, that would put us about midnight over in
[02:27:02] Rich Chelson:
Europe right right now. Yeah. That would might probably be about right. So that would mean yeah.
[02:27:08] Duuude-Ron :
Well, yeah. Because it's five hours difference, dude. Well, I've not ever gone over there, so I wouldn't know. Well, UTC time. And, dude, that means Greenwich Mean Time, GMT time.
[02:27:21] Unknown:
Yeah. Trust me. I know what GMT is.
[02:27:25] Duuude-Ron :
Well, I I just I just wanted to clarify because I said UTC first. I didn't want you to get confused.
[02:27:33] Unknown:
Yeah. Greenwich Mean Time.
[02:27:37] Duuude-Ron :
I'm giving you shit, dude.
[02:27:39] Unknown:
Because that's where time begins.
[02:27:43] Duuude-Ron :
Well, that's what they say.
[02:27:46] Unknown:
For the calendar or for the calendar day.
[02:27:50] Duuude-Ron :
A scientist thought of that. I mean, shoot. Where was he from? Probably England. We're gonna start it right here.
[02:27:59] Unknown:
Probably.
[02:28:00] Duuude-Ron :
Dude, probably.
[02:28:03] Unknown:
But, you know, you have the Greenwich Mean Time there, and you have the international dateline.
[02:28:12] Duuude-Ron :
Yeah. What's up with that?
[02:28:14] Unknown:
A third of the way around the world.
[02:28:17] Duuude-Ron :
Opposite ends up opposite ends of the Earth, man. What's up?
[02:28:22] Unknown:
Who knows?
[02:28:24] Duuude-Ron :
I right?
[02:28:25] Unknown:
Well, it's not opposites. It's
[02:28:28] Rich Chelson:
No. It's opposite. The International Date Line is twelve hours away from Greenwich.
[02:28:34] Unknown:
Okay.
[02:28:35] Duuude-Ron :
Yeah. I mean, they are freaking you know, I I it's that's just like daylight savings time and and central daylight time. Who gives two shits? Time is time. You
[02:28:52] Unknown:
know what? They need to take the the fucking daylight savings time or whatever. Just put us on fucking regular time and leave it the fuck alone. Yeah. They What do you call the fucking country that does that stupid shit?
[02:29:10] Duuude-Ron :
No. Actually, we're not. We are not. There are other countries that do the same thing. I've looked it up.
[02:29:19] Unknown:
Well, we don't fucking need it anymore. Damn it.
[02:29:22] Duuude-Ron :
Oh, no. We don't.
[02:29:24] Unknown:
Just abolish the shit and, you know, go on.
[02:29:29] Duuude-Ron :
Oh, I agree. Now that
[02:29:31] Unknown:
now that one day
[02:29:33] Rich Chelson:
of the year Daylight savings time, Europe most countries in Europe actually observe daylight savings time, including New United Kingdom, France, Germany, and Spain. Yeah. The some European countries such as Iceland, Belarus, Russia, Turkey do not. So, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay, Australia, New Zealand, some countries in Asia, like Israel and Lebanon, and a few countries such as Egypt and Africa. So, yeah, there's a few.
[02:30:07] Duuude-Ron :
Yeah. There's I mean, there's, but either way, it's still it's just like, just stop, people. Yeah. Just Yeah. The sun is gonna raise and lower. It doesn't matter what time of day or night it is. It doesn't matter. The sun hasn't changed in how many years? It ain't gonna change. Just because you change your clock doesn't mean the sun changes. But, oh my god, you can't get people to believe that.
[02:30:34] Unknown:
Yep. They're like, oh, there's only one day out of the whole year that benefits me in any way, shape, or form. What day is that? The day that we fall back and I get to have an extra hour of sleep. That's the end.
[02:30:53] Duuude-Ron :
And and and you want it Here. You you want to abolish daylight savings time so you lose that hour of sleep? Is that what you're saying?
[02:31:03] Unknown:
Well, that's the only benefit I get out of it every year is I get one hour of sleep that night extra.
[02:31:10] Duuude-Ron :
You know what? Actually, you don't. You don't lose an hour. Your clock loses an hour, but you don't. Daylight savings time is is is a mind fuck, dude.
[02:31:22] Unknown:
Well, that yeah. And that's fine. They you can fuck with my mind that day to where I supposedly get an extra hour of sleep for that day. That's the only thing that benefits me on the fucking daylight savings time. That one hour of sleep.
[02:31:40] Duuude-Ron :
Spoken from a guy who can get up, smoke a cigarette, drink a cup of coffee, and go right back to bed on a Saturday and sleep till noon.
[02:31:49] Unknown:
Goddamn right. And and still wake up at noon and wanna go, damn. Should I take a nap? Yeah. Right.
[02:32:02] Duuude-Ron :
Oh my god, dude. You crack you crack me the hell up.
[02:32:08] Unknown:
It's still gonna pay and it's still gonna take several years of regular sleep to catch up on that before I work on any fucking beauty sleep. So Yeah. I'm just I'm just 100% fucked and get no beauty sleep.
[02:32:25] Duuude-Ron :
So, you know, don't worry about it. It's all good.
[02:32:30] Unknown:
You're right. Because these win wisdom lines, as some people call them, are all over my fucking face and forehead and yeah. And got all those wisdom lines and and got CRS. Oh, I've got that. Oh, yeah. So it basically, you know, cancels out each other. Yes. It does. I have the wisdom lines, but I have no idea as to what wisdom I have that created that fucking line. It's just there.
[02:33:09] Duuude-Ron :
Oh, did I tell y'all how much I weigh now?
[02:33:12] Rich Chelson:
Uh-uh.
[02:33:14] Duuude-Ron :
Well well, it was funny. When I went to the dock, I had lost 23 pounds. Right? K. So I was down to two eighty five from three zero eight. I was happy as shit. And about two weeks later, I had to go to see my rheumatologist doc here in town, and they weighed me there. And damned if I hadn't lost three more pounds in the in the in the two weeks after. So I'm like, fuck. Yeah. I've I've lost three more pounds.
[02:33:52] Unknown:
It'll be you go. I'm, like, happy now. Yeah.
[02:33:57] Duuude-Ron :
You know? I I mean, I wanna keep losing weight, but, you know, because I'm, like, at two eighty two, I think. So it's, like, what what
[02:34:06] Unknown:
would you try to get down to?
[02:34:09] Duuude-Ron :
Two forty.
[02:34:10] Unknown:
Two forty? Okay.
[02:34:12] Duuude-Ron :
Mhmm. Yeah. Yeah. I I mean, according to the chart the chart and all like that, they should say it says I should weigh a one seventy max. No. Okay. No. I'm not doing that. I would be I'd be skin and bones at that weight.
[02:34:33] Unknown:
You know? At what weight?
[02:34:35] Duuude-Ron :
One seventy.
[02:34:37] Unknown:
Oh, one seventy.
[02:34:38] Duuude-Ron :
Yeah. Now at two forty, I would be, you know, I would be I I would be thin enough that that I would still I was I would I don't know. I I've been two forty, and I was okay with it. You know what I mean? Yeah. Because I remember god. This is probably let's say this is, like, 2010. So fifteen, eighteen years ago, I got down to, like, 02/2002. And I looked like I was I was I had been, you know, working in a concentration camp for years. I looked at yeah. So that's and and I could probably find it. It's on Facebook, the picture is. I could probably find the picture of what I looked like back then.
And I was like, yeah. I'm never gonna look like that again. Because I look I mean, seriously, it looked like I looked like I was dead even though I wasn't. I mean, we're just working twenty freaking hours a day.
[02:35:45] Unknown:
Yeah.
[02:35:46] Duuude-Ron :
But, yeah, 02:40, you you you know, if I get to 02:20, I'm good, but I'm not gonna push too hard for it. I'll be happy with 02:40. Hell, I I'll be hap anything less than 300, and I'm happy. Okay?
[02:36:04] Unknown:
Well, we'll we'll wish for the best that you get to 02:40.
[02:36:10] Duuude-Ron :
That's what I'm doing. Wishing for the best. Hoping for the best. Yep. You know? Can do. Because yeah. I it's it's I mean, you know, it's funny when I was big, you know, you know, when I was three zero eight and everything like that. I don't know. Was it I I think it was I think it was my other sister up in Iowa. She looked at me and she's like, well, if you'd lose weight, you wouldn't hurt as bad and blah blah blah blah blah. I don't talk to her anymore, but part of me wants to call her up and say, guess what, bitch? I've lost 30 pounds, and I still hurt fucking as bad as I did It's like yeah. I can understand where yeah. You know?
The added weight puts extra stress on your joints and stuff like that. Yeah. I don't fucking get it. That's not my pain. My pain's different. Yep. You know? But I'm not gonna waste my time with her because she would say something rude or smart or something like that, and I'd be like, you know what? There's a reason why I didn't talk to you before.
[02:37:31] Unknown:
Yeah. So But before we ended up, I have a very, very serious question to ask y'all. K. K? Alright. So do you have to have a plumber's license to get plumber's crack, or is a license totally irrelevant? I'm just curious.
[02:38:01] Duuude-Ron :
Well, to have plumber's crack, no license is required. Okay. So you're fine there. Okay. But anything else dealing with plumbing has to have a license.
[02:38:16] Unknown:
Well, you know, and the reason why I asked that is because as having a plumber's crack, you should have a plumber's license. In that particular situation, plumber's crack, should just stay with the damn plumbers. Nobody should help nobody else should be able to have the privilege if you don't possess the license. Right. But that's just Braun's opinion.
[02:38:48] Duuude-Ron :
That's funny, dude. Oh, that cracks me up. You said that. It's like I'm just like, oh my gosh. That's that's a good one.
[02:38:59] Rich Chelson:
Absolutely. That's probably a good time to to to end the show because we have made it all the way over to 10:00, oh, yo.
[02:39:09] Duuude-Ron :
Yeah. I see that, yo.
[02:39:11] Unknown:
So I'm still awake.
[02:39:13] Rich Chelson:
Yay. So anyhow So wanna see And and
[02:39:18] Unknown:
relatively chipper.
[02:39:20] Duuude-Ron :
Yeah. Yeah. I know. Right? That's scary.
[02:39:23] Unknown:
Yeah.
[02:39:26] Rich Chelson:
So but, anyhow, so everybody wanna say thank you all very much for taking the time out of your day to stop by and see what three vets have to say. Two of them are grumpy. The other one is just a regular old dude. And where and what are we what are we thinking about the, with the world, what's happening in our life today? It was just kind of a check-in on the world, on on our life type of day. It wasn't so much about what's going on in the world. Yeah. There was a little bit of a a little bit of shutdown discussion, but that was causing causing Rich to shift gears way too fast. So we had we had, you know, let that cool let that turbo cool down a little bit. But it was this is a show that is so much different than any other show.
And that is because we're not out doing a, doing a show where we're trying to sell you something. We're not we're not doing trying to pawn off mattresses or or, or subscription boxes or anything like that. We're just three guys sitting around and talking, and we do this out of our own pocket. Now we do ask we do wanna offer the opportunity that if you find any value with the show, that you're able to return that value. And there's three different ways that you can return that value, and that is the that is the value for value principle that we apply.
Because it's what you find value and what we find value, it's gonna be two separate things. So what you find value may not be that you want to provide any money, and that's fine. If you don't wanna contribute money to the cause, then then that's alright. You don't have to contribute. Maybe it's just you wanna share this this show with a friend, and, you you can do. If you want to provide content, you can also tell us, hey, ma'am. What are your thoughts on this? Or, you know, give us, give us an idea of what it is you'd like to like for us to talk about. And we would love to, to sit down and and and talk about that. And you can do so by sending out an email over to either me, that's, CircleCast, that's circlecast,@Gmail.com or over to Rich, which is our [email protected].
Or if you wanna get ahold of us, do the question, just send it over to me or Rich because nobody knows Ron's, Ron's email address. He he has got that thing. So, just I think he just typed in a random set of numbers and letters in in the, in the username and called it good and, and went about his day then. He probably has the fewest amount of spam that anybody around would ever have. So it's, it's probably the smartest thing he's that anybody's probably done, but it makes it real hard for us to get a to get a hold of. We have to remember remember Google and and rely on Google and and its and its contact list a whole lot more than, than on anybody else's.
But, if you wanna be able to help the help us out, there's several different ways you could do so. You can either do time, talent, or treasure. Time is, you know, providing time. You wanna contribute some time to figuring out setting up the, the the online chapters for the for the the each episode. You're right. You you can do that. You just reach out to us. Let us know, hey. I'd like to do the chapters. We'll we'll get that all set up for you. If you are wanting to, say, take time with, maybe you're good at doing graphic design, you wanna set up the the chapter art for the show, then, you know, you can if you're good at, creating, that could be your talent. You can pro contribute to your graphic design talent and create some some 1,500 by 1,500 or up to 3,000 by 3,000 squared images, whatever it is you think would work.
And, we'll put it in as, as chapter art, give you, all the credit we can for for contributing that. If you, or if you want, you can also tap contribute treasure. And with that, you can actually go to podcast apps with an s on the end, podcastapps.com. And there you will pull up all the major podcasting apps out there, then you can choose by feature, you can do pod ping, which, if you'll notice, Darren, our we put out our our episodes Monday morning at midnight. And if you're on Apple Podcasts or if you're on or using some other legacy app, it's not gonna appear right off the bat.
Becca and that's because what Apple has to do is it goes off about every fifteen, thirty minutes or so, it pings the RSS. It just goes, hey. Got anything new? No. Nothing new. How about now? No. Nothing new. How about now? No. Nothing new. Hey. How about now? Hey. Yeah. We got something new. Okay. Great. Thanks. Send it over to me. And then it goes through and it processes what's what's new, and it may take an hour, two hours, twelve hours, sometimes even twenty four hours for it to finally get processed and to appear on the Apple Podcasts directory.
And this is what a lot of people get really upset about, is that it takes that long while if you're just on if you're using the the Apple Podcasts app, it goes out and it pings and it grabs the, the app for you right off right off bat. But, again, that's a lot of pinging that it has to be done. If you're using a modern podcast app, they use something that's called a pod ping, and, but within 90 of the show going live, whether it is live live, like with the lit tag, or live as in it's live on the RSS feed, you will get an you will get a notice, it'll show up, and it'll be ready to listen. And that is because we use the modern podcast apps use a completely different feature called Podping than any other of the legacy apps. No. None of them use it. The modern podcast apps have it. Old podcast apps, they don't.
The, another one though is they have the funding tag, which allows for if you wanna help contribute to the show, then you can actually hit support this show. And for us, it'll take take you over to the PayPal page, and you can actually contribute however much you wanna wanna contribute. $5, $5,000, whatever. Whatever you think we're we're worth, you get to throw it up there, and it's just helping to contribute to the show so that we can actually keep things going. And that's what that's for. So there's those are the three different ways you can help with the show. And if you, if you were to help out by either sharing, that works just as fine with us too. Love to hear back from you. I show topics, and, love to hear what what you think about it, or don't think about it, or or whatever. So, anyhow, with that, I'm gonna go ahead and pass the, the mic on over to, Rich. And, Rich, what do you have to say?
[02:46:31] Duuude-Ron :
Oh, not too much. I I mean, I said some of it earlier, but I'll say it again. Well, first off, I I want to apologize to everybody because we went two weeks without podcasting, but there's been a lot of craziness going on in the last couple weeks. So that's why we haven't been able to maintain our schedule, but we should be able to maintain our schedule. And I know I'm not saying it right for you you guys over at across the pond, but we are glad you're listening. You know? And like I said earlier, wave a hand, send an email. You know? You know, tell us what you think, what you like, don't like. You know? If you just wanna laugh at us and point, hey. Do that too. We don't care.
I know y'all say damn yanks, but that's okay. I'm I'm fine with it. But, no. Thank you for listening, really, and share this out with your friends, your family, your loved ones. Hell, like I said, walk around and find random people. Act like you're gonna put your phone number in their phone, open up their fucking podcast app, and type ours in and download it so they can enjoy the fun too. And this way, you don't get in trouble. You know? Leave your number if the girl's cute or the guy is cute. Whatever you're into, you do you, boo. Alright?
But yeah. And and, you know, if you wanna send us an email, like Brian said, [email protected], it'll come to me. And then or if you wanna talk to Brian, it's [email protected]. And like Brian said, if you wanna send a message to the dude and ask the dude his wonderful wisdom, maybe give him another wisdom line, that'd be really cool, by the way. Just send it to me or Brian, and we'll make sure he gets another wisdom line. So other than that, thank you guys for listening. Y'all take care, and, we will see you next week. Dude, what you got?
[02:48:36] Unknown:
Well, I think you guys have pretty well, as usual, summed up the the evening. And as both of you have said, thank you very much for everybody that listens to us on a weekly basis and downloads our podcast. Again, yes, if you think that we are hilarious and you are laughing at us, you know what? We don't really give a shit. Laugh all you want. But, again, yeah, just let everybody or let people know who we are and, you know, let them enjoy and laugh at us as well, and, you know, we'll just continue to gain numbers. And we have a whole bunch of people laughing at us
[02:49:17] Duuude-Ron :
or laughing.
[02:49:19] Unknown:
You know? Just laughing. So, you know, laughter laughter is the best medicine.
[02:49:26] Duuude-Ron :
That's right.
[02:49:28] Unknown:
And for anybody that doesn't believe it, trust me. Go on to a site, start listening to some jokes, you start laughing, you will feel better without a doubt. So that's all I have to say, gentlemen.
[02:49:45] Rich Chelson:
Alright. Well, guys, again, wanna say thanks again for, for listening. Guys, Rich, Ron, thank y'all for coming on once more and having a great conversation, talking it out, and can't wait to see what we have to talk about next week. So, guys, till then, y'all take care. We'll talk to y'all later. Bye.
[02:50:05] Unknown:
Later. Peace out. Alright, guys. Catch y'all later. Alright. See you later. Bye. Yep. Bye. Bye.
