In this episode, we delve into a whirlwind of current events and political discussions. We start by addressing the recent tragic aircraft incidents, expressing condolences to the affected families and questioning the frequency of such events. We discuss the hope for transparent investigations under the new administration.
We then shift to the political arena, covering the Senate confirmation hearings for RFK Jr., Tulsi Gabbard, and Kash Patel. The hearings are described as political theater, with RFK Jr.'s confrontations with Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren highlighted. We explore the contentious debates around healthcare as a human right and the influence of pharmaceutical contributions on political figures.
The episode also touches on President Trump's newly imposed tariffs on Canada, Mexico, and China, and the retaliatory measures from Canada and Mexico. We discuss the economic implications and the strong stance of Texas Governor Greg Abbott in response to these tariffs.
In the latter part of the episode, we introduce the concept of "Texit," discussing the constitutional aspects of Texas potentially leaving the union. We emphasize the peaceful legislative process advocated by the Texas Nationalist Movement.
Throughout the episode, we encourage listener engagement and support through donations, highlighting the value-for-value model that sustains the podcast. We also promote various platforms and products, inviting listeners to explore and support the show through these avenues.

Hey, folks. This is Joe Rusciello, and we are live at the Asylum Studios, bringing you the best quality talk radio that we can muster without all the bluster. Welcome to the podcast. Folks, it's great to be with you today, and, happy Monday to everybody. I hope you guys had a great week this week. It's been crazy, hasn't it? Lot of strange things going on out there. You had these you had these 3 incidents with aircraft, which were just horrifying. It it absolutely terrible. You know, and our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of all those folks that are involved with the incident that took place over the Potomac River.
And then this, this, medevac, flight that went down, that Learjet that went down in Philadelphia just the other day, and unbelievable what's going on. But when you think about the frequency of these things, you know, it it just this stuff just can't be coincidence. It can't be coincidence. There there there has to be something else going on behind the scenes here, and, hopefully, the, the new administration, the Trump administration, we'll get we'll get to the bottom of it. We'll, hopefully, they'll be able to, you know, have an unimpeded investigations to all these things and and the and and at the level of transparency that that this administration has been showing since since it took took, took power back in January 20th, it it, you know, is consistent, you know, we should have some information and some answers very soon, and, I'm I'm hoping that it that we do. Because it's it's it's a horrifying thing, I mean, just I mean, you hear all these stories, you know, well, that could have been me, that could have been us, that could have been you, that, you know, of course, absolutely.
Absolutely. And we all have stories like that. We do. You know, my sister actually, took a flight, and she went over that area in her flight and could have it could have been with her. And, you don't know. You just don't know. But, we're confident that the, that the new administration has more than competent people in charge right now, and they're conducting these investigations, and we'll get some answers very very soon. But, overall, it's been a crazy crazy crazy busy week all around us. We had the senate confirmation hearings, this week for, RFK Junior, Tulsi Gabbard, and, Kash Patel.
And, I I don't know if you guys watched any of it. There there's just it it's just political theater is really what it is. This is an opportunity for the for, the the senators to just basically position themselves, get their sound bites, try to make themselves look better than what they really are, and in a lot of cases that's very difficult, and you saw that, on numerous occasions where where RFK junior pointed out a few things, and we're gonna take a look at that in just a little bit. And, of course, Kash Patel, probably the most qualified candidate for the, director of the FBI, that's out there right now, and, just being given the the hardest way to go. But, I'm I'm pretty confident though that he's gonna end up being appointed. It seems like he does have the votes for it. And then, of course, Tulsi Gabbard, she it's a powerful, powerful, opening statement.
And, you know, but I don't know. There's something something very strange about this when they wanna have a vote behind closed doors, and, there's just something not sitting well with me with this one, so we're gonna have to keep an eye on that one. And then, of course, like we said, you know, RFK, in his, his epic confrontation with with, Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren, and and you ever notice how all all these democrats, all they do is yell. Right? They don't they they can't they're incapable of having a conversation, and if you noticed anything, especially with with Elizabeth Warren, you know, Pocahontas over there, she, I mean, visibly shaking while she was talking to him, and or you should say yelling at him.
Visibly shaking, and, it kinda makes you wonder a little bit, you know, why? You know, what what's the background on all these things? So, you know, we're gonna look at some of those things, and we're gonna look at some numbers, as we get through it. And then, of course, we have tariffs. President Trump has, effectively this this weekend, as of I it was February 1st, imposed the, the 25% tariff on on Canada, Mexico, a 10% tariff on China, and, of course, as expected, Justin Trudeau up there in in in Canada, you know, turned around and and put tariffs back on the United States, and 25% tariff on that. Like, okay. Okay, so Canadian bacon's gonna cost a little bit more. Oh, oh, poor me.
And then, of course, Claudia Scheinbaum, the president of Mexico, also putting in her, her tariffs on the United States. So it it's an interesting interesting thing, and we had a few comments out there, regarding the tariffs, from our governor, governor Abbott, which I thought were great, and, we'll talk about that, in just a little bit. And then, we'll take a little break, and when we come back from that break, we'll, we'll we'll get into Texit, our tech our Texit fact of the week, something new we're gonna be trying this week, and then we'll see where that goes. We'll talk about a few more things. But, before we do any of that, I'm gonna ask you to do just a couple of quick things for me. So if you would, if you'd head over to our website, joerusiello.com, that's joerusiello.com, and, when you do that, go over to our contact section, open up that web form, and, why don't you send us over a message? Let us know whatever whatever questions, comments, cares, or concerns that you have, any recommendations or suggestions, for for for, upcoming guests, and whatever it is that, that's on your hard mind. Just, send that over to us using the web form. And if you don't like to use the web form, you could always email me directly at [email protected].
That's info atjorucielo.com. And, also, while you're on the website, please don't forget to look for the support button on the home page, and, just need you to remember that this is a value for value podcast. And all that basically means is that if you've received anything of value from what we're doing here, all we're asking is that you return that value in the form of a donation. You know, I know we run ads, but they're not paid ads. We're not getting compensated for running those ads. Basically, I'm putting them in there right now just to kinda fill some space to give my voice a break as, as we're going on these, as we do these shows.
Especially these days, I'm I'm fighting the crud something fierce, which is, it's been just lingering. It's been going around the job and, a few folks that I that I work closely with are sick, and so it is just bouncing back and forth between us all. So, I made it to pause for a moment to cough here or there, so just forgive me for that. But, but those ads that we're running, they're not paid ads, you know, we don't have paid sponsors, you know. Everything that we're doing is totally dependent upon you, our listeners, to help keep this whole thing here going, to help us improve.
Now there are several ways you can help us out with a donation. You could, you can make a one time donation in any amount that you feel appropriate. You could also donate your, your your your time. You could donate your talent as part of the three t's, that we that we look at with the value for value system that we're part of. You can donate your time, your talent, or your treasure, so it's pretty self explanatory what all that is. But if you set up a monthly recurring donation of $17.76, you will get a title, and that title would be the associate producer.
Alright. You would be an associate producer of this show, and that means that you get a shout out every show, and that your name will be listed in the show notes as an associate producer of the show, but that's not all. If you set up a monthly recurring donation of $18.36, you'll receive producer credits, so you get a little promotion there. You get producer credit, and of course, that means the same, you know, shout out every show, your name on, listed in all the show notes as a producer of the show. And then we also have for a monthly recurring donation of $25 or more, you get the executive producer credit.
And, of course, you get the same considerations, you get the shout out, you get the the listing in the show notes, but you get that coveted executive producer credit. And the reason why we do that is and the reason why we give out the the titles, I I mean, granted they're they're just, you know, show titles. But the reason why we're doing that is because when you make a donation to the show, you're actually helping us produce the show, because then we could we can expand what we're doing, we can improve our setup, we could, pay for the platforms that we're on, we'd basically keep this whole thing going.
And, we really do need those donations. So, if you're on the fence about it, think about it. Take a listen to what we're doing, and if you, if you are getting something out of it and you wanna be involved, you can easily jump in on one of these, recurring donations, or you can just a one time donation. Whatever it is that you're able to do is is a is a blessing for us to receive, and it's it's something that, it's something that, would really, really help us out because we can do so much with it. So, now you could also not only donate your your, US dollars in cash, you could also donate crypto.
We have a donation, button up on our website for cryptos. You could, you could click that button. You can donate Satoshis, which is a micropayment of Bitcoin, and, we would really appreciate that. That would be fantastic if you could do that. So there are number of ways that you can help us out, and however you go about to do it, we really would appreciate that to keep this whole mess going. Alright? Now folks, armory 1 provides Texas license to carry certification and leverages over 30 years of military and law enforcement experience in instructing students in the safe use of firearms. Alright. Hey, folks. Welcome back to the podcast. I told you it was gonna be a quick one. It's just a couple of minutes, not even. Just have to do that to give myself a little bit of a break on the voice and, also to get, get set up here. And, we're gonna get into some of the headlines here in in just a little bit, but, you know, I run that promo, for, our host platform, podhome.fm, and I really don't mention it as much as I'd like to it as I should. You know, Podhome is a great platform, and if if you if you were curious about it, our very first episode that we did as the podcast, we interviewed, Barry, who's the owner and, the founder of Podhome, and, when I tell you, it's a it's a great platform to be a part of, it it really does feel like you have a whole team working for you. With all the features that they offer, they are not very many host platforms actually offer you a a website to go along with your podcast, and and really it's a nice site too when you when you look at it. You can actually you don't even have to use the pod home dot f m slash whatever the name of your show is. You could actually bring your own, domain over to Pod Home and use their website service, for with your own domain name. So, that that's a feature that you don't see in very many other, podcast platforms.

And with the package they're offering with, you get 2 months free, you get 30 days, and you get 2 months free with the coupon code about podcasting. And, folks, look, I don't get any any kickback or anything like that for it. I'm just so happy using the Pod Home platform that, you know, and so and and and and just so, overwhelmed with the amount of support that we get from Pod Home that, you know, I I just wanna talk about it and just let you guys know you should definitely consider checking them out. They are just a great platform, something you really should, be a part of. And check out episode number 1, where we talked to Barry about it for a little bit. Alright.
Okay. Well, so this week, we had, 3, confirmation hearings. Or actually more than that, but, the 3 most notable ones were, were, Kash Patel, RFK Junior, and Tulsi Gabbard. Sorry. I had to mute you for a second because I had a big cough that that that kinda just came up. So, so and they they kinda went as expected. You you kind of expected the hostility. You you expected the, the, the the betrayal coming from the left, and, of course, you you expected this test to see a little bit more of a friendly atmosphere from from the Republican side of it, and although there were some some contentious moments with with some of the Republican senators as well. But, one of the things that really did, come out from the from from this particular moment, this particular hearing with RFK was, when she got into this heated debate. Well, first we got into a heated debate with with Elizabeth Warren, which, Pocahontas over there, like I said earlier, Pocahontas over there getting all bent out of shape, screaming her head off. And, of course, you know, which what I found really interesting was how much he was literally shaking as he as as, as she was screaming at this man.
And then, of course, you know, you go on down the the line, you have you have crazy, mazy, herono with and doesn't do you ever listen to her? Doesn't she sound like Cartman from, right? From South Park? I'm gonna ask you the questions I asked every candidate to do whatever nighttime. I mean, the left is just obsessed obsessed with your genitalia. Have you noticed that? Absolutely obsessed with it. But anyway, that that that's another issue, altogether, and I I just don't know why Hawaii keeps on voting in crazy mazey. So, you know, Hawaii, if you're listening to this, please do something about her. Get rid of her. Please? She's worthless. She does nothing.
So please do something. Vote her out. Get her out. Primary her. Anyway, anyway, so, like I said, Robert Kennedy has been getting a real grilling from the Senate Democrats, which is interesting too because, you know, the Kennedy family itself is a is is a very liberal family, and but the interesting thing is how Robert Kennedy seems to have I well, actually, I don't really I don't know just how much Robert Kennedy was ever a pushback person or a fighter, but apparently, you know, he he took a few lessons from, Donald Trump. And, I wanna play for you a a little piece here, from part of the hearing. It's it's about 50 seconds. Some of the clips we're gonna be playing, are gonna be a little bit long, but, this is one particular part where where RFK just just basically dismantles, Bernie Sanders, argument that health care is a human right, during his hearing. Take that list take a listen to this.
[00:24:18] Unknown:
Senator, I can't give you a yes or no. Quite an answer to that question. Health care a human right? Is health care a human right? In the way that free speech, the human right Yeah. I would say it's different because if with free speech doesn't cost anybody anything. But in health care, if you smoke cigarettes for 20 years and you get cancer, do you you are now taking from the pool.
[00:24:48] Unknown:
And so are you guaranteed the same right away? Is there also a duty? I'm sorry. I I'd love to talk for an hour with you. We got a few minutes left here. Alright? Every other country in us says health care whether you're poor or rich, young or old to human right. I'm not hearing you say that. Alright. You've talked about the drug companies, and maybe we
[00:25:09] Unknown:
Right now so beautifully said by by Kennedy. I mean, beautifully said. Health health care is not a right. Okay? Health care is not a right. So, and I think he did he I think I think he made a very valid point with the person who's been smoking for 20 years, and, of course, now they they they get cancer, and which is terrible. Look, my mom my mom was a smoker most of her life. My mom, passed away, a couple of years ago. She had, she had end stage COPD, and, it was a struggle to watch her, waste away from from all the years of smoking. Even though she had quit and and she was she did not smoke for for many years, up until the point that she passed away, she suffered because of it. So, so smoking bad, don't smoke. Kids, don't smoke.
Alright? So but the the the point that that RFK was making here is, so you you went through a whole lifetime of making poor choices on your health, and now it's it's someone else's responsibility to pay for it. That's not a right. Rights are granted to you by God, not by government. That's number 1, and, when you when you make something like health care the a right, That right is infringing on someone else's right. You you you follow? That's basically what what, what mister Kennedy was saying there. And then, they they started getting into, some some more of the, donations, things. So I'm gonna just play another clip here for you. This is a little bit longer, so I'll make some comments over it as we're going, so it doesn't drive you too crazy listening to this long clip. It's about 2 minutes, But, this is very, very important.
Very, very important. Alright? So let's, let's take a listen.
[00:27:13] Unknown:
President Trump, and mister Kennedy are quite right when they say Shocking. That our system is broken. They're right. Our economic system today is broken. 3 people own more wealth than the bottom half of American society. Wages have been stagnant for American workers for 50 years. Economy is broken. You know what? Our political system is broken and corrupt. You have a handful of billionaires in both political parties who contribute huge amounts of money to elect candidates in this room throughout the United States Congress. That is a broken political system and a real threat to democracy.
Our health care system is broken, and it's broken for some of the reasons that mister Kennedy indicated. We have not paid attention to the fact that we have massive amounts of chronic disease. We have not answered the question why in the richest country in the history of the world, our life expectancy is lower than it is in countries far poorer than we are. So I think in many ways, president Trump and mister Kennedy have asked some of the right questions. Problem is their answers will only make a bad situation worse.
So let me ask mister Kennedy again. If we want to make America healthy, will you assure the American people that you will fight to do what every other major country on earth does, guarantee health care to every single American?
[00:28:50] Unknown:
I'm gonna make America
[00:28:52] Unknown:
healthier than other countries in the world right now. Will you guarantee do what every other major country does? That's a simple question.
[00:28:59] Unknown:
And by the way, Bernie, the, you know, the the problem of corruption is not just in the federal agents. It's it's in Congress too. Almost all the members of this panel are accepting, including yourself, are accepting 1,000,000 of dollars from the pharmaceutical industry. Oh, no. That's protecting their interest. Oh,
[00:29:20] Unknown:
I thought that that would come no. I ran for president like you. I got 1,000,000 and 1,000,000 of contributions. They did not come from the executives, not one nickel of pack money from the pharmaceuticals. They came to the workers. 2020
[00:29:36] Unknown:
in 2020, you were the single largest Because I have receiver of pharmaceutical money.
[00:29:43] Unknown:
From workers all over this country. Workers. You were the single not from not a nickel from corporate tax. The single largest Product or pharmaceutical dollars. No. From workers in 1,500,000. Yeah. Out of 200,000,000.
[00:29:58] Unknown:
Alright. But Alright. So basically, he he he admitted that he got he received a lot of money from the, from the pharmaceutical industry there. He said, you know, out of 200,000,000. But, I came across this on, this is on x, from a from an account called, a Midwestern doctor, Midwestern doc. And, let me see if I can pull this up here. So, health care campaign contributions, 1990 to 2024. Bernie Sanders had a total of 23,193,451 from health care health care campaign contributions. Of that, from the pharmaceutical industry and and, health products, he he received 1,953,613. From pharmaceutical manufacturing, 601,0566.
From health insurance and HMOs, 1,695,645. From, hospitals and nursing homes, 2,000,000 715,000 from medical devices, 450,000 medical societies. Alright. Medical societies. That's the interesting one right there. Because who do you think because he, you know, he made it a point to say that that he was he didn't receive a nickel, not a nickel, from any of the health care executives. Well, who do you think belongs to the medical societies? Don't you think that the health care executives belong to the medical societies? And do you know how much he received from the medical societies?
12,749,883. Now a little bit a little earlier, I I I alluded to something about, about Pocahontas, Elizabeth Warren. I mentioned how she was visibly shaking when she was screaming at RFK. Makes you kind of wonder, because according to this, she's received over 10 thou $10,000,000 from, in healthcare campaign contributions. Okay. She's number 3 on the list of the Democrats that are on, that are on the panel, and, you can find all of this on a website called open secrets.org, but Elizabeth Warren got over $10,000,000 in health care contributions.
She received, 1,200,000 from pharmaceuticals, 368,000 from far pharmaceutical manufacturing, from the HMOs, a little over a1000000, a 1,003 from, hospitals and nursing homes, 370,000 from medical devices, medical societies, she received over 2,000,000, 2,200,000, and from nursing associations, 209,000. Now do you think that is I'm sorry. No correction. 901,005,000,000 from medical societies. 5,500,000. That was on the wrong line. I'm sorry. So, do you think that maybe someone paid her a visit from the, pharmaceutical industry, from the health care industry, and told her that if RFK gets confirmed that they're gonna primary her?
You think that's why she was so irate, and so upset, and so vocal? It's, it's it's it's very possible. It's very, very possible. I wouldn't be surprised. Here's, here's another clip of, Bernie Sanders going after RFK, about onesies.
[00:33:50] Unknown:
There is no question that abortion is a divisive issue in this country. I would say a majority of the people Abortion shouldn't be an issue. Strong minority who are pro life. A year and a half ago, you went to New Hampshire running for president, gave a speech, and you talked about government should not tell a woman what she can do with her own body. That's her choice. Now I think everybody on that side is pro life. I think everybody here is pro choice. I have never seen any major politician flip on that issue quite as quickly as you did when Trump asked you to become HHS secretary.
Tell me why you think people should have cons confidence in your consistency and in your word when you really made a major u-turn on an issue of that importance in such a short time.
[00:34:49] Unknown:
Senator, I believe and I've always believed that every abortion is a tragedy.
[00:34:55] Unknown:
But you told the people in New Hampshire that it was their right. Alright. Let me do a last question here because I'm running out of time. I I think the gist of what you were trying to say today is you're really pro vaccine. You wanna ask questions. You have started a group called the Children's Health Defense. You're the originator. Right now, as I understand that on their website, they are selling what's called onesies. These are little things clothing for babies. We know what a onesie is. One of them is titled unfaxed, unafraid.
Next one and they sold for $26 a piece, by the way. Next one is no vax, no problem. They are coming before this committee, and you say you are pro vaccine. Just wanna ask some questions. And yet your organization is making money selling a child's product to parents for $26, which cast fundamental doubt on you on the usefulness of vaccines. Can you tell us now that you will now that you are pro vaccine, that you're gonna have your organization
[00:36:05] Unknown:
take these products off the market? Senator, I have no power over that organization. I'm not part of it. I resigned from the board. Yeah. I was just a few months ago. You founded that.
[00:36:14] Unknown:
You certainly have power. You can make that work. Are you supportive of this?
[00:36:19] Unknown:
I've had nothing to do with Are you supportive of these onesies? I'm supportive of vaccines.
[00:36:24] Unknown:
Are you supportive of these this clothing, which is militantly anti vaccine? I I am supportive of vaccines.
[00:36:31] Unknown:
I will I I want good science, and I wanna protect But you will not tell the organization you founded not to continue
[00:36:39] Unknown:
selling that product. Thank you, mister chairman.
[00:36:42] Unknown:
Alright. So basically, Bernie got his, you know, his his panties in a bunch. Look. He he's not part of the organization anymore, and, you know, he I think that Kennedy was very clear throughout the entire, procedure, the whole the entire process of this confirmation that that, he is he he's pro he's pro vaccine, for vaccines that have been thoroughly researched that are are are are known to be safe vaccines, and, for the ones that are more questionable like the mRNA, gene therapy, injections that they try to force on people, There needs to be some skepticism. There needs to be better stud better studies and better science, and I agree with that. That's fine. Totally fine. I I am not anti vaxx. I I I agree with mister Kennedy where he where he's talking about, you know, we need to study this. We need to make sure that these things are healthy and they're safe. We can't just run something out there that's untried, untested, and, and, you know, you know, hope for the best.
That's not the way this this works. You know, science questions things. You know, so if someone says it's settled science, I don't know. Science is supposed to question things. We're not supposed to just take it at face value. We're supposed to research and study, research and study, research and study. But, but this this is the type of thing that's been going on over the course of the last week. And, I know that mister Kennedy had to go through, 2 hearings, if if I'm not mistaken. One for the Health and Human Services and also then for, finance.
So, it's been a busy week for mister Kennedy, then, of course, we had Kash Patel, we had Tulsa Gabbard, but, we're not gonna get too much into that because we're already way over. I let those clips run a little bit too long. Alright. So let's, let's head over to, let's talk about the tariffs. Let's talk about tariffs. So I I personally, I love the idea of tariffs. I think tar tariffs are a great idea. I think, well, first of all, just just in, you know, in in disclosure here, I I do not agree with with progressive income taxes. I think that, taxation is is theft. I think it's immoral, and I don't think that, the I don't think your labor should be taxed.
Alright? Prior to 1913 when the federal income tax was established in this country, and there was some question about the legality of the federal income tax that it wasn't properly ratified. I will be very honest with you. I I don't I don't know enough about it to really comment on that aspect of it, but it's something that I am studying and researching, and and, when I'm more comfortable with it, then I'll then I'll give you my opinion of it. But, but, but I in my personal view, I I don't think that, you know, we should be taxed. I think, did we pay enough in other taxes? So, your income should not be taxed. At any rate, the United States did very, very well. The richest period of our history was prior to 1913, which is the inception of the, the federal personal, income tax.
And the way we funded government, and and, of course, we had schools, we had streets, we had, hospitals, we had all these things, was through tariffs, and it was the wealthiest period of time in American history. So Donald Trump, and I agree with this a 100%, is, is looking to reinstate tariffs. He's looking to take away taxes on your tips. He's looking to take away taxes on your overtime. He's been floating the idea of eliminating the income tax altogether and abolishing the IRS, which I wholeheartedly agree with. Doesn't need to exist, shouldn't exist.
So this weekend, he's been talking about, he's been talking about putting tariffs on on imports from Canada, from Mexico, from China under this, this this National Emergency Act that, that, that he he has been talking about. So, it's the International Emergency Economic Powers Act to be, to be specific. Alright. So, on Saturday, he announced and this is according to, Fox News. The Trump administration announced on Saturday that it it is imposing tariffs through its new international emergency economic powers act. Donald Trump's president Donald Trump signed an executive order authorizing tariffs Saturday, which will go into effect on Tuesday, consisting of 25% additional tariff on imports from Canada and Mexico, and a 10% tariff on imports from China.
So, in response in in response to, president Trump, instituting these tariffs, both, the Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau and the Mexican president, Claudia Sheinbaum, I believe, I I said it right, they they got together and then they imposed tariffs or threatening to impose tariffs on the United States. Let's see. Canada retaliates with a 25% tariff on $155,000,000,000 worth of US imports. And, let me see this. Justin Trudeau said give me one second. My screen is frozen here. Let's see. Justin Trudeau said Canada will be imposing 25% tariffs on $155,000,000,000 worth of US imports in response to Donald Trump's order to place 25% tariffs on Canadian goods.
Alright. Great. He says we will stand strong for Canada, Trudeau said in a press conference February 1st. Trump ordered, on February 1st to impose 25% tariffs on goods for Canada and Mexico. We already said that. Trudeau said he will start with a 25% retaliatory tariff on $30,000,000,000 worth of US imports on February 4th, then the tariffs, on the other 125,000,000,000 worth of goods will come 21 days come in 21 days to allow impacted Canadian companies to adjust their supply chains. Canadian tariffs will be applied to US made goods, including beer, wine, bourbon, fruits, and fruit juices, including orange juice, as well as vegetables, perfume, clothing, and shoes, major consumer products such as household appliances and furniture, sports equipment, other materials such as lumber and plastic. Alright. So, yeah, the article goes on. This is from, this is from the Epic Times.
Trudeau then made an address to Americans. Trudeau opened his remarks with an address directed to Americans, stressing the the close bond between the two nations. He said, quote, this is a choice that, yes, will harm Canadians, but beyond that it will have real consequences for you, the American people. He said the tariffs will increase the cost for Americans, but doesn't have to be this way. As president John f Kennedy said many years ago, geography has made us neighbors, history has made us friends, economics has made us partners, and necessity has made us allies. In announcing the tariffs, the White House reiterated Trump's concern about drugs and illegal immigrants coming from 3 countries into the United States.
And the article continues on, talking about, Fentanyl coming in through Canada, that was seized at the northern border last year. Last year, enough to kill 9,800,000 Americans. It's incredible. It's incredible. And he said, in in a in a campaign promise, to stop the flood of illegal aliens and drugs pouring across our borders in America, overwhelmingly voted for it, is what Trump said on February 1st. Alright? So what I love and then why I love being a Texan. Well, adopted. Texas is my adopted home. I'm not a native born Texan, but our governor, Greg Abbott, had had some comments for mister Trudeau.
Greg Abbott, according to red state said said, Greg Abbott demolishes Justin Trudeau after he steps in it even worse on tariffs. President Donald Trump has shown that he isn't playing around when it comes to stopping the illegal alien influx and the flow of fentanyl into the country. This is Red State. You determine to stop it, but Justin Trudeau seems, intent to keep digging the hole deeper. He announced retaliatory tariffs on 25% of a $155,000,000,000 in good, except it's a war he can't win because we have so much more leverage than he does.
So let's see what he has to say here.
[00:45:13] Unknown:
Tonight, I am announcing Canada will be responding to the US trade action with 25% tariffs against a $155,000,000,000 worth of American goods. This will include immediate tariffs on $30,000,000,000 worth of goods as of Tuesday, followed by further tariffs on a $125,000,000,000 worth of American products in 21 days' time to allow Canadian companies and supply chains to seek to find alternatives.
[00:45:53] Unknown:
Alright. We're gonna turn off the French there. We don't really care with the French. So, the the question is, and, Patrick Bet David said this on his Twitter. Who needs who more? Canadian g GDP is $2,400,000,000,000. US GDP is 27.36 trillion. If Canada were an American state, it would be number 4 in GDP. Another terrible move by Trudeau. Brett Sears then says, Trudeau gets the smug look wiped off his face, when the reporter asked this question. When did you first learn that president Trump intends to increase tariffs if Canada retaliates, and how bad and how had that changed your strategy?
[00:46:32] Unknown:
And just to look in his face is priceless. When did you first learn that president Trump intends to increase tariffs if Canada retaliates and how has that changed your strategy?
[00:46:44] Unknown:
I think Canadians understand that we need to respond to this. We need to respond in a way that is appropriate, that is measured but forceful, that meets the moment. We're certainly not looking to escalate, but we will stand up for Canada, for Canadians, for Canadian jobs.
[00:47:13] Unknown:
Just the look on his face, he looked like he was sick to his stomach saying that. Reports then claimed that Trudeau would try to target things that would affect red states to affect Trump allies, and and his hope was they would, basically, you know, get on the phone and try to convince president Trump to back off. They specifically wanted to focus on goods made in Republican or swing states where, where the pain of tariffs like pressure on jobs at the bottom lines of local businesses would affect Trump allies. Alright. Well, if he thinks that's gonna work, he's got a he's he's he's he's just foolish.
Doesn't understand the leverage that red state governors, have or or, or Trump. As a matter of fact, like I said earlier, my governor, text Texas governor Greg Abbott, sent out this in a tweet. Greg Abbott, text said, careful Trudeau. The Texas economy is larger than Canada's, and we're not afraid to use it. And that is absolutely true. Absolutely true. I don't think I don't think, mister Trudeau understands what it what the the the whole concept of don't mess with Texas, but unfortunately for him, he's gonna probably find out very, very soon. Now, the Texas economy.
Alright? On the average, on average, Texas is the 8th or 9th largest economy in the world, in the world. If Texas were to stand alone, which we are hoping that will be very very soon, Texas is the 8th or the 9th largest economy in the world. Now just think of that. Just think about that. I'm gonna read, from from an article here on, on the the Texas Nationalist Movement. Again, an organization that I am a member of. On average, Texas ranks as having the 8th largest economy in the world. There's no doubt that an independent Texas will do better. To quote the conservative firebrand and Texas advocate, Klaver Camo Imani, After Texas, we're gonna be rich, and he's not exaggerating. Texas already collectively possesses a fair amount of wealth as one of the largest economies in the world.
Now you think about it. If it you you just think about this. Texas has the land mass, Texas has the population, Texas has the agriculture, Texas has the seaports, Texas has all of natural resources that you could possibly imagine. I don't I don't really think that that mister Trudeau is is thinking this whole thing through. If Texas unleashes its economic power, I don't think that mister mister Trudeau's, tariffs are gonna have really much of an impact, but we will see. We will see. Alright. Let's see what else we got here. Alright. So before we take this last break and, and start to wrap up, for today, like I said, we're gonna wrap up with our, our our our text it fact of the week.
I came across this, because I I happen to be a very big fan of Tom Homan. Alright. Now if you don't know who Tom Homan is, Tom Tom Homan is the, the board the border czar, and he is the one who is, who who is leading the, nationwide operation ICE operation, to, to to deport the illegals that were let into this, country by the previous administration. Now, a couple of days ago, Joy Reid probably had the, the the dumbest conversation you can possibly have, which is, you know, for Joy Reid is nothing new. And she was talking with the, attorney general from New York, Leticia James Tisch. Alright? And, basically, what she said was, the, you know, these these, these ICE raids are were reckless. These enforcement actions are reckless, and
[00:51:20] Unknown:
and just listen for yourself. Governor was confirmed as a Department of Homeland Security. I mean, it's just she's cosplaying. It's almost a game where she seems to be cosplaying because I'm not sure what she thinks that she's portraying here. She might as well be at Comic Con. Jay
[00:51:36] Unknown:
Alright. So, basically, what she was talking about here is, there there was a a picture of, of, Christy Noem, and, she's dressed in in uniform. Basically, she's wearing the ice vest and, you know, the the headgear and and all that stuff, and and, she was just making comments about that. So, Tom Homan then went on to, on to Fox News and, he was talking with Jesse Waters and, Tom Homan's response is just priceless. Ames and Joy say you're reckless
[00:52:06] Unknown:
and you're just role playing for fun.
[00:52:09] Unknown:
She's dumber than a box of rocks.
[00:52:12] Unknown:
Governor who's confirmed as a a Department of Homeland Security. I mean, it's just she's cosplaying. It's almost a game where she seems to be cosplaying because I'm not sure what she thinks that she's portraying here. She might as well be at Comic Con.

James and Joyce say you're reckless and you're just role playing for fun.
[00:52:30] Unknown:
She's dumber than a box of rocks.
[00:52:33] Unknown:
So you gotta love Tom Hohman. He he doesn't pull any punches. Right? So, he said he was, and he went on to say in the interview with, with Jesse Waters. He said, what I did in Chicago saved lives, saved children. What we did in New York today saved children. Just in Chicago alone, we arrested at least 9 sexual predators, most of them child sex predators. We took them off the street. And that just basically highlights the concerns, you know, that, you know, over national security. And then he and then he went on to note it to to note the rise in individuals on the terrorist watch list crossing to the US under Biden. Homan said this, quote, under Biden, we had a 3,500% increase in people on terrorist watch list.
He said, no. We're saving the nation. We make America safe again, so they need to get out of the way because we're coming. We're gonna do it, and they're not gonna stop it. Now, earlier this week, ICE reported, 1016 arrests, 814 detainers lodged, and, more on the way More on the way. And if, you know, and and and and Joy Reid's comments over the immigration enforcement, saw a lot of backlash on social media, but that's not gonna change anything, in in our approach to handling these things. Alright. Well, folks, let's, let's take a break here, and when we come back, we'll, we'll start to wrap this thing up and we'll, we'll close out today's show with, a brief discussion on, on Texit, is it constitutional or not? Hey, folks. And we are back. Welcome to the podcast. I wish you could It's our last segment of, this week's show. It's gonna be a quick one, I think. We're just gonna talk very, very briefly about Texas. Now, as you know, I am a I'm a member of the Texas Nationalist Movement, which is a political organization, here in Texas that advocates for the peaceful separation of Texas from the United States. The peaceful separation, we're talking about through the legislative process. A couple of weeks ago, I I had the the pleasure of, having a conversation with, Daniel Miller, who is the president of the organization, the Texas Nationalist Movement. And then, a couple of a couple of days later, I had a conversation with Jason Fry, a member of the Texas Nationalist Movement as well, also an auth the author of the book National Divorce A Plan For Peace, and had some great conversations. And, I'm I'm gonna tell you honestly, I I I was debating whether or not I was gonna bring up, the, the emails that I received after, the Jason Fry conversation.
But basically, you know, this is the first time ever in my life that I've gotten, emails from people calling me a traitor and, secessionist, and, that, committing sedition and all that wonderful stuff, and and, and now look, sedition, insurrection, all that's that's that's all that's legally, that's taking up arms against the government, which is not something that Texas advocates, which is not something that the Texas Nationalist Movement is all about. The Texas Nationalist Movement, Tex it, is all about a peaceful separation from the United States through the legislative process, and that is by getting a referendum put on a ballot, the people voting on it, and then beginning the process.
So it's it's not it's it's not treason. Alright? It's not sedition. It's not insurrection. It's none of that. The states voluntarily enter the union, states can voluntarily leave the union. Now as you go around talking to folks about Texas, one of the big questions that come out is, is it constitutional? Is or is it unconstitutional? There is absolutely no prohibition in the United States Constitution that's that says that a state cannot exit the union. Actually, the Constitution United States, defines the specific act states are forbidden from committing in, article 1, and I think it's section 10. Yes. Section 10. Now, the, the remainder of the constitution is the nowhere in the remainder of the constitution is is the issue of a state leaving the union explicitly forbidden, and nor and and and nor is nor is any power ceded to the federal government to prohibit a state from doing it.
Alright? And and the 10th amendment to the constitution speaks very, very clearly on this. The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution nor prohibited by it to the States are reserved to the States, respectively, or to the people. Alright? That's the 10th Amendment to the Constitution of the United States. The constitution is silent on the matter of of states leaving the union, and this this this this constitutional silence, coupled with the definitive reservation of power by the states, leaves the decision to the people of the state and to those people alone.
That's what we talk about when we say it's through the legislative process, and, and and if you want even more proof of this, you have to just have to look at the Texas constitution. Article 1 section 1, not only does it expressly reserve all sovereignty not granted through the United States constitution, but it also sets the conditions upon which Texas will remain in the union. Texas, this is a quote, Texas is a free and independent state subject only to the constitution of the United States, and the maintenance of our free institutions and the perpetuity of the union depend upon the preservation of the right of local self government unimpaired to all the states. That's the Texas constitution article 1 section 1, and then it goes on even further.
In the very, very next section of the go of of the constitution of Texas, the power to determine how Texan's govern themselves is is is couldn't be any clearer. Quote, all power, quote, all political power is inherent in the people, and all free governments are founded on their authority and instituted for their be for their benefit. The faith of the people of Texas stands pledged to the preservation of a republican form of government, and subject to this limitation only, they have at all times the inalienable right to alter, reform, or abolish their government in such manner as they may think expedient.
Article 1 section 2 of the Texas State Constitution. So is Texit unconstitutional? Is Calxit unconstitutional? Is Vermont, New Hampshire, and their referendums on leaving the union unconstitutional? Absolutely not. Absolutely not. Now will this happen? I believe it will. I think Texas is closer now than it ever has been. Texas will lead the way, and it's a very, very exciting time to be here in Texas seeing this play out. And it's a privilege, an absolute privilege to be a part of the Texas Nationalist Movement. It's a privilege to be part of the, of of the county leadership team, And if you have any questions about Texas, you could always email me at [email protected], that's info atjoruscielo.com.
