Well, hey folks. This is Joe Roos. It is great to be with you once again on our, Sunday afternoon show, and we are coming to you live tonight from the Asylum Studios, broadcasting And, folks, we are going to do the best we can tonight to bring you the best quality, I guess, talk radio we could muster without all the bluster. This is The Joe Ryu Show, episode number 102. That's it folks, we have surpassed the one hundredth show mark. Exciting, exciting, exciting stuff. Still can't believe it. Told you most podcasts end after 10 episodes, but here we are with number 102.
And it is Sunday. It's our Sunday show. We're gonna have our Sunday, I guess, bible study in just a few minutes. We're gonna take care of some housekeeping stuff, and we'll see how we go from there. Alright. Now, folks, I hope you guys had a great weekend so far. Kind of a stressful weekend to be quite honest. As you all probably know, The United States has hit Iran and has, taken out the Forto enrichment location. I remember president Trump said that, he was giving them up to two weeks, but I guess that, that window closed a lot sooner. And I guess he did that to keep them off balance. I don't know.
But, kinda mixed feelings about that. We're not gonna talk politics today. We're gonna really address this more tomorrow, but I just wanted to say this though that, you know, I I wasn't on board with this as far as, you know, launching these strikes against Iran. I felt this is this is more of Israel's fight, and let them do what they need to do, and, you know, don't hold them back, which no no country should be able to hold back any other country from doing what they think is necessary to do, as far as self preservation goes. And that's the main argument that, Israel uses for these these, particular activities.
So that said, I'm incredibly thankful that the mission was successful. I'm incredibly thankful that our planes and our soldiers returned home safe. There were no casualties on our end. And, you know, of course, now we have to be concerned about, retaliation. You have all of the countries around around Iran, like like Russia, China, North Korea, Turkey, all putting their support behind Iran right now, offering to supply Iran with nuclear weapons now. So it's, it's it's very interesting time that we're living in. It's a it's a kind of a scary time when you think about it.
We are incredibly close to a thermonuclear war. We are incredibly close. Well, I'm not gonna say incredibly close. We're, you know, I believe I think World War three has already started. And so, you know, folks, I'm not sure, you know, what the future holds, but I will say this, I trust my president. I trust that he made the best decision he could possibly make. I don't agree with it, so don't misunderstand what I'm saying. You know, I'm not flip flopping, you know, back and forth here. I've been against it from the start, but I do trust my president. I I trust Donald Trump to, make the right decision based upon the available information to him, that this isn't something that's gonna be a quit, you know, like a, a, just a just because I want to do it type of thing. So, and I'm I'm hoping that the intelligence that he based his decision on was accurate and, that this doesn't turn into another Iraq situation, twenty year war, billions of dollars gone, and, you know, entering into another another mess like that. But with all that said, we're gonna take care of some housekeeping here, and then we're gonna get started with our, with our bible study, for today.

And then, if you don't have a bible, that's fine. You can just listen along or, you can follow along up in the screen. I I screen grabbed a lot of the scripture that we're gonna use tonight, so we'll be able to, to to share that with you as well. Now, usually when you preach, you have a or you teach, you have a a passage of scripture, and, you would kinda just dive in on that, and then you start expounding on it. And when I was in bible school, they called that expository preaching. And, where are we gonna start? Okay. They call that expository preaching. And, you know, they tell us that, you know, that's the best kind of preaching that there is, and I wouldn't disagree with that. I suppose it is. It's a it's a really good way to to, to to learn your Bible. It's a really it's a good way to study the scripture.
It's really a detailed study. It's very, very, very good. But tonight, I think that I feel like the Lord laid something on my heart. And so, we're just gonna really deal with one verse tonight, and then we're gonna build upon that. So if you have your bibles, if you're ready to go, take your bible, turn over to the book of first Timothy that's in your New Testament, first Timothy in chapter six. First Timothy in chapter six. And then, we're gonna get into verse number what do I have here? Verse number 15. So first Timothy chapter six verse 15.
Let's put it up on the screen for you. There you go. Which in times which in his times he shall show who is the blessed and only potentate, the King of Kings, and Lord of Lords. Now, tonight, I'm gonna give you a little bit of material on, Biblical political science. Alright? Biblical political science. Welcome to the Joe Ruse Institute of Advanced Conservative Studies with a Biblical basis. Alright? Don't ask me to repeat that. I don't think I'll be able to, but I might. I don't know. We'll see. But, a potentate is defined as one who wields controlling power.
A person who possesses great power or sway, a prince, a sovereign, an emperor, king, or monarch. Now, our Bible calls Jesus Christ the only potentate. And that's a great word, isn't it? Only. I like that. The King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. And from the context of this particular verse, it's obvious that the name deals with the subject of government. You know, if you if you really look at it, the Bible is a book that deals with that subject extensively. As a matter of fact, if you were to take your Bible, your whole Bible, right, and you went from Genesis chapter one, and you went all the way to the end, Revelation 22, you would discover that the Bible spends more time talking about government and related subjects than any other one thing.
Now you say, well, what about salvation? Isn't salvation in the Bible? Yeah. It is. And I'm glad salvation's in there, and I'm sure you are too, and you should be. But when you really analyze the book, and you really look at it in its entirety, you'll find that it talks more about kingdoms and all the ramifications that grow out of that tree than any other subject. Government. Government. The Lord is really interested in government. And, really, I mean, the the theme of the book, the theme of this whole book, from the beginning to the end, and if you can put it into a simple phrase, is who is going to run who?
Now, right now, the Bible tells us that the prince of the power of the air, the god of this world is, is is running things. Alright? He's running most of what's going on around us. But I'm, I am, but, you know, with that in mind, I am really glad that we have confidence in the only potentate. He just hasn't declared and demonstrated all of his power. Okay? That's yet to come. Now, a potentate is all powerful. Alright? And, I think one of the things that we're gonna we're gonna kinda break down tonight too is is the several forms of human government that exist. Alright? And I'm not gonna really stay on it for too long. I'm not gonna belabor the point because there really is a lot that, I wanna get to. But, but just just so you know what they are, and and you and you understand what they are, we're gonna kinda go over them, you know, briefly, just in case you haven't been exposed to that type of teaching, or, or you'll maybe you don't understand that there are different or several forms of government. Alright? One of the most predominant forms of government, not only today, but in history, has been, a monarch or a dictatorship.
Alright? So a monarch or a dictatorship, that's one type of government. And basically, what that is, that that's defined as rule by one. Alright. So just one person's in charge, a monarch or a dictator. Alright. In its purest form, it doesn't exist today. Alright? It does not exist today. Probably, and probably the most pure form of a dictatorship in all of history was Nebuchadnezzar. Alright? He was a real dictator. He he was represented by the head of gold in the image in Daniel chapter two, if you remember that. Now in in reality, a dictatorship, a good dictatorship is the best form of government that there is. You you honestly, you cannot beat it.
Alright? Now, I I know somebody sitting there right now right this is saying, what the hell did you just say? Did you just say that a dictatorship is the is the best form of government? Yeah, I did. The problem is the problem is, it's only as good as the dictator. Alright? You have to have a good one, or you're gonna have a really bad government. Alright? And, that's actually what this world is headed for. That's what they're asking for. That's that's what the world is clamoring for. That's what they're desiring. That that they want a dictatorship. And if you want proof of that, just look at what they were trying to set up during during COVID.
The World Economic Forum, the, the World Health Organization, all of those organizations with the United Nations, as as their support, were all looking to establish that one world dictatorship, the one world government that this book talks about quite regularly. Alright? Now, it's gonna happen. It's going to come. It will be here. And the person they're gonna get is is gonna be called the Antichrist. Alright? And that's a whole other subject, and we'll get into that another time. Alright? So, a dictatorship or a monarchy. Alright? Then there's another form of government that's called an oligarchy.
An oligarchy. Alright? That's ruled by few. That's defined as a government that, where where a small group exercises control for usually corrupt or selfish purposes. Alright? That's what China has been, controlled by few. Alright? The Communist Party, the Persian Empire, biblically, the the Persian Empire was run that way over in Daniel chapter six. You know, actually studying the book of Daniel, and and we're gonna do that at some point. We we had we had done some studies in Daniel in in the previous podcast that I did, on which we just strictly studied the bible.
We we we started doing some Daniel studies, before we before we shut that one down. But, studying the book of Daniel is is a great, great study in government. And, not only in government, but but in government politics. Alright? So you have an oligarchy, a monarchy, a dictatorship. Alright? Then you have a democracy. Alright? A democracy is defined as rule by majority. Alright? And, that's what the media and the Democratic party would like to think that you would like would like you to think that you that you live in. Alright? A democracy. We do not live in a democracy.
Alright? They want you to believe that, and that's the word that's perpetually just tossed around. But of course, that's not what our forefathers, our founding fathers envisioned. That's not what they had in mind when they set up this whole thing. That's not what they had in mind when they they laid the foundations of this country in which we live. They never envisioned a democracy. They never envisioned rule by majority. You know, I mean, have, do you ever remember a time where you said, I pledge allegiance to the flag of The United States Of America and to the and to the democracy for which it stands? They would like to change it to that, yes.
They would love to change it to that, but we don't say it that way. We say to the Republic for which it stands. And there is a fundamental difference between a Republic and a Democracy. I don't want rule by majority. You don't want rule by majority. Because the the the majority the majority is just going the wrong way in this country. It is going the absolute wrong way. And, unfortunately, for the last hundred years or so the Supreme Court, by their own admission, has predicated the majority of their decisions on what they perceive the majority desires in this country.
And that's why we have so many bad decisions that come out of that court, because they're basing those decisions on what they think the majority wants. Not according to what the constitution says, but according to what the majority wants. Alright. So we have a monarchy, we have a dictatorship, oligarchy, and democracy. Alright? That brings us down to a republic. Now, a republic is by definition simply rule by law. Alright? Rule by law. And, I'm gonna read something to you, and, and I'm gonna come back to our bible in in in just a few minutes, and we're gonna make a real biblical analysis of of this whole thing, momentarily. But, let me read to you the first paragraph of the Declaration of Independence.
Alright? The Declaration of Independence, our founding document. Alright. I'm gonna read it slowly. I'm gonna read it carefully, and it's coming up on your screen. When in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the Earth the separate and equal station to which the laws of nature and of nature's god entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.
Alright. Now, that's all one sentence by the way. That's quite a sentence. They they, you know, folks just don't write like that anymore, do they? No. I mean, we have a wonderful, absolutely wonderful education system. I mean, you know, things are just getting better and better and better and better. Right? I changed microphones, so I'm gonna keep on banging into this thing. So I'm gonna see if I can move it. Sorry for the noise. We'll see if we'll see if that works. Alright. So, like I said, you know, things are just getting better and better with the educational system that we have. I mean, you would be absolutely sore pressed to find a graduate of, like Texas A and M that could write a sentence as good as that and as effective as that. You'd have to look a really long time to find a graduate of the University of Texas that could put something together like that.
I mean, I would love to see people coming out of our university systems like that, that that could write like that, that could think like that, that could think critically, that could express themselves critically. And by the way, did you know that most of the people that that participated in writing the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of The United States, did you know that that the majority of them were homeschooled? Or they got their education through church? Did you know that? Just think about that, that's absolutely incredible. Well, you'd be right in saying that because it really produced geniuses in this in this country.
Alright? And but that's another subject. Alright. The paragraph goes on. We hold these truths to be self evident. Now, what they've declared so far is is is, they've deemed it appropriate to declare that the time had come because of human events, that a separation was compelling them to be sought. Alright. So they felt absolutely and utterly compelled to seek this separation from the British Empire. Well, they continue on and they and they and they tell you why. We hold these these truths to be self evident that all men are created equal. Alright.
So where it says, we hold these truths to be self evident. So in other words, any dummy should be able to see this. Alright? That's what self evident is. We hold these truths to be self evident. Alright, dummy? That all men are created equal, and that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights. Now, I'm not sure if they actually believed that all men are created equal any more than I believe it. Alright? I mean, some of those men held slaves. But, you see, what they believed, or I should say what they, or I should say they believed it in the context of which they said it. Alright? Now, I don't I don't misconstrued what they said, you know, and don't run out of here, you know, you know, saying, you know, don't don't disconnect from the show, don't, you know, don't run out of wherever it is that you are, saying that, you know, Joe's advocating slavery, because that's not what I said.
Alright? I I said nothing like that whatsoever. But I just don't believe that all men are created equal, and if you've got any sense about yourself, you don't believe that either. I mean just look, some people are smart, some people are dumb. That's not equal. Some people are strong, some people are weak. Right? Not everybody is created equally. And anybody, anybody with a lick of sense can see that. And in the context, we can appreciate what they're saying. Alright. Let me back up. Let me back up. We hold these truths to be self evident that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, that to secure rights these rights, governments are instituted among men. So what they've declared in this great document that we hold to be so wonderfully applicable to our our lives today is simply this.
It is the purpose of government not to give rights, but to protect rights that are unalienable rights given to us not by man, not by government, not by the president, not by congress, but by God. God is the great right giver. So if you have any rights if you have any rights, it's because you got them from God. It's not because you got them from the NAACP. It's not because you got them from Martin Luther King Junior. It's not because you got them from the Speaker of the House. It's because God gave them to you. And if you can't find concrete evidence that you secured them from God, well, then maybe they don't belong to you.
Just think about that. Our forefathers then recognized that certain unalienable rights were given by God, and it was the responsibility of government to protect those rights. In in November of seventeen seventy two, Sam Adams spoke about those rights, and and and this, here's what he said, and I want you to really tune in on this one. I want you to get this. Alright? Sam Adams, not the brewer, well, the brewer, but not about brewing. Here's what Samuel Adams said in 1772 about these unalienable rights. He said, quote, these may be best understood by reading and carefully studying the institutes of the great lawgiver and head of the Christian church, which are to be found clearly written and promulgated in the scriptures.
In the scriptures. That's what Sam Adams said in 1772. He said, we're talking about these unalienable rights. Said, where can we learn about these rights? He said, we have to go to the Bible to learn about these rights. Do you know what those men were? They were great thinkers. They were great thinkers, and do you know where they learned how to think? By reading the scriptures. By reading their bibles. That's where you'll learn how to think. You think about that, right? Now, they called for certain rights, some of which we've already read in the first paragraph of the Declaration of Independence. Alright. Now, now these rights are called for in in in, in that great document. They're called for, as well as in the constitution, and and of course we have some amendments.
And you know, one of the first rights that they called for was the right of liberty. Alright? And we're not gonna go through them all tonight, but I wanted I just wanna kinda zero in on about five of them. Alright? I wanna I wanna show you five rights that I hold precious. Five rights that I believe you hold precious to yourself. Five rights and where we got those rights from. I don't derive these five unalienable rights from my government, nor did my founding fathers believe that they would derive from government. But you see, this whole thing is has been so flip flopped in the age in which you and I live. They want us to believe it's the government that gives rights. No. It is not the government that gives rights.
Government is here to protect the rights that are already mine. But what are these rights? Well, number one, the right of liberty. The right of liberty. Take your bible, and turn over just to the book of Psalms. It's right there smack in the middle of your bible. You're gonna go to Psalm one nineteen. Psalm 119. I'm gonna put it up on the screen for you in a second. Psalm one nineteen is the longest chapter in your bible. Psalm one nineteen, and we're gonna go to verse number 44. Where is it? Why is it at the bottom? Let me fix that. There we go.
Psalm one nineteen, and you're gonna go to verse 44. Honestly, I bet you never thought you're gonna get preached to, from a declaration of independence. Right? Psalm one nineteen verse 44. So shall I keep thy law continually forever and ever, and I will walk at liberty for I seek thy precepts. Do you know what God was interested in having his people do? He was interested in having them enjoy their liberty. Consequently, he freed them from from Egypt. Every time they lost their liberty, it was because they directly violated and left off walking in the law of God, the law that God gave them.
Remember, a republic, by definition, is ruled by law. The second best government, the first the first best government is yet to come. When the when the when the only potentate, the king of kings and the lord of lords shows up, We will have the universe's best government. Until then, the second best is a republic ruled by law, and we're gonna have that republic if we can keep it if we can keep it. You know, a republic is really what God set up for Israel when they left Egypt and crossed over the Red Sea. God said, alright, I'm gonna I'm gonna give you a law, and you're gonna live by that law. You know who Moses is?
Moses is the administrator of the law. He didn't write the law. He didn't make up the law. He simply administered the law, and God is the one who gave it. When Israel broke the law, when they walked away from the law, when they turned their back on the law that God gave them, inevitably, they lost their liberty. They lost their liberty. Now if you would, take your Bible, turn over to the book of Judges. That's back in your it's back in your, Old Testament, right before the book of Ruth, and right after the book of Joshua, Judges chapter six.
Judges chapter six. Now this is one of several examples of that very kind of thing taking place. Alright? God has declared that I have an unalienable right to liberty. Alright? Now here's the spiritual application that we're gonna try to make momentarily. Alright? We're we're speaking in the in the realm of the of the, political right now. Alright? Judges chapter six and verse number one. Remember, we're in the realm of the political, and there's a spiritual application that we're gonna come to. Judges chapter one chapter six verse one. And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the Lord, and the Lord delivered them into the hand of Midian seven years. I've got to put the verse up. There we go. And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the Lord, and the Lord delivered them into the hand of Midian seven years.
Alright. So to what extent did they lose their liberty? Alright. Let's read on. Let's read on. And the hand of the Midian, the hand of Midian prevailed against Israel. And because of the Midianites, the children of Israel made them the dens, which are in the mountains and caves and strongholds. Alright? So what happened? They lost their houses. They lost their lands. They lost their possessions. That's losing liberty, folks. That's losing liberty. Verse verse three. And so it was when Israel had sown that the Midianites came up, and the Amalekites and the children of the East, even they came up against them.
And they encamped against them, and destroyed the increase of the earth, till thou come into Gaza, and left no sustenance for Israel, neither sheep nor ox, nor ass. Alright. So what does that mean? So what it means is is that they began to nibble away at their income, and then pretty soon, they consumed their income. Pretty soon, they were just working for peanuts. Why? Because the foreigners came and gobbled it all up. Why? Because they did evil in the sight of the Lord. That's why. That's why. Look at verse five. For they came up with their cattle and their tents, and they came as grasshoppers for multitude, for both they and their camels were without number, and they entered into the land to destroy it. And Israel was greatly impoverished because of the Midianites, and the children of Israel cried unto the Lord.
So do you think it was God's plan for them to be greatly impoverished? Do you think that's what God wanted? Do you think, you know, was it the heartbeat of God for his people to be suffering and languishing in poverty? Now listen, don't misunderstand me. I'm not I'm not teaching a prosperity gospel here, and I hope you know that, but you gotta get the other side of the picture. God desired liberty for his people. He desired liberty for his people, not bondage, not chains, not fetters, but you see they lost it. They lost it.
But why? They did evil in the sight of the Lord. You know, folks, the the longer that the longer that that we go, the less liberty we have in America. The less liberty we have. There was a guy back up in New York where I used to live, and he was a nice guy. He was he was like a gentleman man. He he he he he lived near our church up there, and our church was at a was in a a small area called Tottenville. And it was a it was a it was an historic area, And it had a, you know, didn't have very many left, but it had a few old farms and and, you know, and and things like that. But, but this guy lived there. And, he used to come to our bible study at church every now and then. He wasn't saved. He He wasn't he wasn't a Christian, but he he would come. He was curious. He was interested, and and, you know, we pray for him, and eventually, he got saved. And, you know, I'm I'm looking forward to seeing him again one day in heaven.
I think he's prob by now, he's probably there already. But on his property though, he had this old barn, and, it was, it was like a it was designated a historic landmark, you know. It was built in the late eighteen fifties, early eighteen sixties, but, you know, the barn was starting to sag, you know? A barn that old is gonna sag, you know, kinda like me, you know, starting to sag a little bit too, you know, and I'm not even nearly that old, but the barn had started to sag out, toward, a road there a little bit, and, now now listen, this barn had been there before the road was.
Alright? So so what he decided to do is he decided to prop the barn up a little bit. So he took some old telephone poles and he sunk them down on the ground, and he built like a little shed type, roof, you know, pointing up towards the barn. You know, he figured he was getting two things out of the he was getting support for the barn, and he was getting a little extra storage area out of it. You know, it it was it was a harmless little venture, you know, just trying to preserve this historic landmark. But one day he goes out there, and there was this great big red tag, you know, stuck on the side of the building, you know, stop work order.
A city inspector comes along and tells him, hey, you know, you can't do that. You don't have a building permit. And, he said, you know, now wait a minute. This is my property, and I'm just trying to prop, you know, trying to prop up my barn. Well, you know, you have to have a building permit, and besides that, you have to have you have to be more than 50 feet away from the road, and you're 47 feet. I measured it, and, you know, and you don't have the liberty to prop up your barn. So so the guy, he he went down to Borough Hall, and, they told him that he needed to apply for a variance.
Alright? So what he so he did. You know, he he he played along, he jumped through the hoops, he paid for the variance, and then he goes down to get his building permit. When he gets down there, the engineer said to him that they couldn't give him perm give him a permit on what he had because after all, it wasn't according to code. So they told him that he had to take pressure treated poles and put them four feet in the ground, not telephone poles that were three feet in the ground. They told him that he was gonna have to have four by 10 headers instead of what he's what he's got there, that they said, you got two by six rafters, that's not gonna work. You need two by eight rafters, and and you're gonna have to tear the whole thing down. You have to start all over again.
They told him that after they got his money for the variance. Folks that's loss of liberty. That's loss of liberty. Now, I'm not speaking about this guy, you know, individually. He was a man of character. He was a he was a man of of strong moral repute. I'm speaking of us as a country. As a country, why have we lost our liberty? Why have we lost our liberty? We've done evil in the sight of the Lord. So the Lord says, okay. There goes your liberty. There it goes. I have a friend who, owned a home in, in New Jersey. And, when he bought the house, he came with a parcel of about four acres of land.
Well, after he bought the house, he he he was out in his backyard, and he was clearing some of the trees, so he could make some room to expand, and, yeah, I think he wanted to put a pool in, and and all kinds of stuff, and his property. Right? He bought it. He paid for it. Pays the taxes on it. Well, some environmental nut job comes along from the state and says that, hey, you know, the the land here was recently designated as protected, and he had a cease and desist. No. No. He bought the land. He pays taxes on the land.
Can't touch the land. Loss of liberty. Lost of liberty. Well, god said, and he lays out the formula very clearly in in in in the book. God's desire for his people is to have liberty. We lose liberty. Remember this. We lose liberty in direct proportion to the violation of the book that god has established for our benefit. Now that thing happens spiritually. It happens spiritually. A lot of folks are laboring without liberty in their spiritual lives. I mean, just look at the Pentecostals, look at the Seventh day Adventists, the JWs, no liberty whatsoever.
I like to enjoy my Christianity. I want you to enjoy your Christianity. I like to have a good time. I like to appreciate it. Thank God for it. You know, where I'm not trying to to to put a bunch of rules and regulations on on people. I'm not trying to lord over anybody, because they're God's heritage, not mine. When I was pastoring a church, or I was associate pastor, I should say. When I was, you know, you know, the people in the church were God's heritage, not mine. Not our senior pastor. Didn't try to lord over anybody and micromanage people's lives. It's not what it's all about. They're God's flock.
All I'm trying to do is to preach and teach and tell the truth and go on and trust God for the rest. But you know a lot of people lose spiritual liberty, a sense of freedom that God wants you to have, because they continue to live in sin, in violation of the word of God. You know, the more you forsake sin, the more liberty that you have. Did did you do realize that? So what what what the whole thing really amounts to is personal responsibility. Personal responsibility. Our forefathers, I I I don't even know if I'm gonna get to the next four points. I'm just taking my time here. Right?
What what our forefathers had in mind with the government was this, they had self government. Self government. That's the whole concept folks, self government. In other words, it's not the job of big brother to run around and tell you what you can and cannot do every minute of the day. The government has absolutely no business in deciding how much water you can flush down your toilet. It's your job to rule yourself. And the more responsible people will be, the better we'll be. I mean, the Bible talks about ruling your own spirit, does it not? That's God's plan. God's program, God's desire to rule myself. Now, if when I forsake responsibility, then I lose liberty.
Liberty begets responsibility, and that's not legalism. That's not God hammering you. It's just that that just one works with the other. Personal responsibility is absolutely mandated if I'm going to maintain my liberty. I enjoy more liberty in the lord Jesus Christ, in my salvation, in my relationship with him, in direct proportion to my adherence to responsibility with the things that he's given me. It's not the things that anyone else has given me. It's not the things that big brother anywhere has given me. It's things the only potentate has given me.
The king of kings and the lord of lords. That's the thing right there. Not only does God want me to have liberty, but I believe God wants me to have happiness. Now, I I know God's people go through hills and valleys and fires and trials. We all do. We're all very much aware of that. God has a grand design and purpose in all of those things, which we all appreciate. But the general rule, you know, the big picture, you know, getting away from the little isolated instances, I believe the big picture is that God wants you to be happy. God doesn't want you to be, you know, you know, dragging your lip and stumbling over it, all stumbling all over yourself in in in all of your Christian experience.
You say, well, well, how do you know that? Alright. Let me show you. Deuteronomy chapter 33. Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy. Deuteronomy chapter 33. Now, if you listen to some folks, they'll make you feel guilty if you're enjoying life. Right? Did you don't you know what I'm saying? I mean, man, you know, have a good time while you're here. You know, kick up your heels. Say, bless God, the rapture's coming, you know. Don't let people take your happiness. Don't let people take your joy. Alright? Deuteronomy 33.
Now listen, don't misunderstand me, you know. I don't I don't mean it's okay to go out and, you know, buy a load of weed and smoke and get snookered and all, you know. Don't run out there and say, you know, hey, Joe just said, you know, weed, beer, slavery, all that stuff is good. I didn't. You know, I didn't say anything like that. Alright. I don't put words in my mouth now. Deuteronomy 33 and, verse, 29. Happy art thou, oh Israel, who was like unto thee, oh people saved by the Lord, the shield of thy help, and who is the sword of thy excellency.
And thine enemies shall be found liars unto thee, and thou shalt tread upon their high places. So God declares that his people Israel in this passage, God declares to his people Israel in this passage, happy art thou, oh Israel, who is like unto thee. Now, you know, we know that Israel really isn't too happy today, and that that's because they've forsaken the book. They've forsaken the commandments of the Lord. Israel as a nation is incredibly secular, incredibly secular. But you see, god presently in this in this dispensation has another people who have access to the book, that have access to the law, that have access to the truth.
And if they conform to it, in personal responsibility, they could be as happy as God wanted Israel to be. I mean, if you're saved, man enjoy it. You know? I'm sorry. You know, some people, you know, some of God's people, you know, they go around looking like they've been weaned on a dill pickle. You know? Good night, man. Happy in the Lord. I believe I I believe that a loss in happiness, like Lamentations chapter one teaches us, is inevitably a result of sin in my life. If I turn if I turn from sin, and I ask God to help me eradicate it, even in the worst circumstances, even when I'm at the the the lowest ebb in life, I can still find a good measure of happiness.
Paul. Right? The apostle Paul, man, he went through some stuff. He went through some stuff. A day and night in the deep, shipwrecked, stoned, I don't mean with drugs, beaten, you know, the whole nine yards, you know. But he wasn't complaining about it. He said, boy, I have found some stuff in the Lord, and he was rejoicing in what God gave him. God wants you to be happy. God wants you to be happy. You might as well claim it. You might as well claim it. Well, that's not all. Then he said, we have an inalienable right to liberty, to happiness, and life.
We have an unalienable right to liberty, to happiness, and life. Alright? Turn over to numbers and chapter 35. Just one book to your left. Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers 35. I believe I have an unalienable right to life, and God is the only one who has the right to take it. God is the only one who has the right to take it. Alright? Numbers 35 and verse 31. Moreover, you shall take no satisfaction for the life of a murderer which is guilty of death, but he shall be surely put to death. Now when a murderer murders someone and he's found guilty, he's convicted by a legal court, then God, in effect, is the one that's taking his life.
Because God's the one that mandated that thing. Do you understand? And you know something that's fine with me. That is absolutely fine with me, but but you know, you know, you have all these idiots out here that will find any excuse they can to run around and rob and burn and loot and maim and kill, and we have to put up with that nonsense. Look what they just did in Los Angeles and and, in New York and and Chicago. Look what they they have violated an unalienable right given by God, and they should pay the price by giving their own life.
I have, you have, an unalienable right to life. You know, somehow we've gotten this this this really twisted perspective here in America that it's more important to take life than to defend life. That's why we have a million plus abortions in this country every year. We have this really twisted idea that it's more right to take life than to defend life. But wait a minute, that's an unalienable right. Well, who gave it to me? God did. God did. You know, we knew that we were really on a downhill slide in America when we decided that government had the right to take innocent life. Innocent life.
They don't have that right. Only God has that right. Only God has that right. Alright. Let me show you another one. I have the right and my forefathers declared it was an unalienable right, and I believe it. I believe it to be so. Because because what they did in their documents and in their statements, what Samuel Adams said in in November 1772 was, he took these things which were unalienable rights and then tied them directly to the scriptures. He said that what we have derived, or he said the way we have derived these unalienable rights, and they are in fact, you know, what they are is, you know, by studying scriptures.
Another inalienable right that we have, another inalienable right is the right to bear arms. You say, really? Yeah. Yeah. Let me show you. It's right here out of your bible. Deuteronomy chapter one. Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, you should be numbers 35. Just turn over the page or two to Deuteronomy chapter one. And, you know, and this is one area where the average conservative, you know, like like Hannity, Levin, the NRA, you know, flag waving patriot misses it. Even though some of them are good folks. Alright? Even though some of them may be good folks, embrace a lot of good ideals, a lot of good principles, they miss one key ingredient, one thing, and that is they don't know where unalienable rights come from.
God's people need to know. I know who gives them. It's God. Not anyone else. It's not legislation. It's not Congress. It's not the will of the people. It's God almighty, the only potentate. Alright? Now Deuteronomy. Right? I said Deuteronomy? Yes. Deuteronomy chapter one and verse, 40. Deuteronomy chapter one and verse 40. Let me put that up on the screen for you. But as for you, turn you and take your journey into the wilderness by way of the Red Sea. Then he answered and said unto me, we have sinned against the Lord. We will go up and fight according to all the Lord our God commanded us. And when he had girded on every man his weapons of war, he were ready to go up into the hill.
Alright. Did did you notice that? Did you notice up did you notice that thing? Every man was declared to have his own weapons of war. Well, who gave them that right? The lawgiver. The lawgiver who took them out of Egypt. He's the one who gave every man the right to have his own weapons of war. The Bible is clear. Well, yeah. Yeah. But that was the old testament, you know, and, you know, we all know the meek, the mild, the passive Jesus would never ever endorse anything like that, for he believed in peace. Alright. Luke chapter 22. Matthew, Mark, Luke, third book of your New Testament.
Luke 22. Now, of course, you have to understand that Luke 22 probably wasn't in the originals. I'm being sarcastic. Luke 22 and verse 36. Luke 22 verse 36. Then he sent to them, but now he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip. And he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment and buy one. The Lord himself come recommended buying a sword. Now, I believe if the Lord Jesus Christ were walking the earth today, he would he probably wouldn't say a sword. He would probably say a three fifty seven Magnum, an AR 15, a 44 Magnum stainless steel, a 45 Long Colt, a Glock, a Sig.
Do you ever fire a 45 Long Colt? I fought one I I fired one once, just once in my life. And man, holy moly, that thing that thing puts a hole in things. Now, this right that we're talking about was lost on many occasions. Alright, let me show you one just so you get the drift. Go back to your to your Old Testament, back to Judges. Back to Judges and chapter five. See this is why this is why I like doing bible studies. You know, you you work your way through your bible, you you you figure everything out. You know, you you you you There's nothing like a bible study.
This book can answer every question. This book has the answers to everything. Now, Now, I don't profess to know exactly where they all are, but through stuff like this, a bible study, you find it. And it may take some time, but you find it. You study it. Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed. Alright. Judges chapter five. And, it looks like we're gonna be able to get through all this today. I'm on number four, and I think I have one more after that. Then I wanna run through some things really quick. And, like I said before though, you know, we can run through so many more of these, but, you know, we're we're majoring on these five, because these five, we have to hold very near, and very dear, and very precious to us as Americans.
But you see, all of these unalienable rights, all of these unalienable rights precede America. These unalienable rights were were were around and and given by the great law giver. Long before America was ever thought of to any people that would make god their god. Judges chapter five verse eight. Judges chapter five and verse eight. They chose new gods. Then was war in the gates. Was there a shield or a spear seen among 40,000 in Israel? The implied answer here is no. The implied answer there is no. But what happened? Well, under Jabin, the king of Canaan, as as as you go through the text here, what happened was because they violated the laws of God, they lost their weapons.
The longer we encroach upon God's standards of righteousness in this country, the more they're gonna holler, the more they're gonna scream, and take away your guns. I mean, folks, any idiot knows it's not guns that kill people, It's people that kill people. Any idiot knows that. You know, I was I was thinking when I I was watching the, the riots taking place all around the place for that no kings thing. You wonder how you stop all that nonsense? The Antifa and, you know, all those people that were out there, you know, running around destroying everything. All these random attacks on people on the street.
And how you stop it? You take that person outside, you put them up against the wall, and you hand an m 16 to a family member of a person that was killed, and you put it on public television, and let the whole country see it. That's how you stop it. And you know something? It'll be a long time before any before another one of those, those kind of things happen. That'll end it. That'll end it. I have an unalienable right. That's why I'm not giving up my guns, because I didn't get that right from the government. I got it from God. I will fight for these things.
I will absolutely fight for these things. There are some things that that aren't worth fighting for, but some things are, because we got the right from God. Alright. Here's another one. The ownership of private property. That's a touchy one. Right? The ownership of private property. Now in reality, in reality, nobody owns private property in America anymore. Because they have this thing they call property tax. And if you don't pay your property tax, you won't own your property. So in reality, you don't own it. In reality, the government has a perpetual lean against it.
But the Bible the Bible advocates the ownership of private property. Now in in researching for this message, I came across an amazing quote that I wanna read to you. Alright? It's not the quote that was really so amazing, it's it's where it appears that makes it phenomenal. Alright? This quote appears, if all places, the Encyclopedia Britannica. Okay? And, and it's to illustrate the point of private property. Now, this secular encyclopedia chose to use the following biblical illustration to demonstrate why why God's people need to be concerned about the ownership of private property.
Alright. Let me read to you a direct quote from Encyclopedia Britannica. Alright. Quote, these conceptions were implicit in the incident of Naboth's vineyard as related in the Old Testament. Naboth owned a vineyard that adjoined the property of Ahab, king of Israel, in the ninth century BC. Ahab wanted the vineyard, but Naboth refused to sell it for it was an inheritance of his father's. Jezebel, the queen, contrived through per through perjured testimony to have Naboth executed for treason. As Ahab took possession of the vineyard, he was met by Elijah the prophet who pronounced doom on him, Jezebel, and his house, first Kings 21. God, through the prophet, condemned a ruler who presumed to take property or life under an unjust law or judgment without due process.
Right now, I find it phenomenal that when Encyclopedia Britannica and the editors of the of the board sat down and reasoned that they needed, to cite some kind of a concrete evidence about what ownership of private property is, they said, well where else can we go? And they went to the bible. To me, that's incredible. Incredible. And the last sentence, the the last sentence they wrote, God through the prophet condemned a ruler who presumed to take property or life under an unjust law or judgment without due process.
So not only do we have the property tax issue to deal with now, but now they wanna declare that if you have a patch of swamp on your property, it's wetlands, and you can't do anything with it. It's off limits. Ownership of private property is an unalienable right derived from God. Naboth had a right to the vineyard vineyard, not Ahab the king. Not Ahab. Why? Because God declared it. God declared it. Now, the best republic in history was Israel under the leadership of Moses and Joshua. God had given them a perfect law that protected human rights as declared by God.
They, along with others, administrated the law and judged when necessary. Alright? Now it's clear. It's clear in in the light of what you and I know about what's transpiring in America today. And I don't say this lightly, and I don't say this flippantly, and I don't say this with a a a violence undertone to it. We need a new government. We need a new government. Like I said, I'm not advocating for armed revolution. I'm not advocating, you know, Donald Trump. I'm not pushing any of those things right now. The only thing I'm pushing, is the only potentate.
That's what we need. That's what we need. And not just us. I'm I'm talking about the whole world. History has proven that even a republic disintegrates over a period of time because new laws are continually introduced that are not God given. And as a result of that, the only real, ultimate, final, perfect solution is a monarchy with a perfect law giver. Now when we analyzed our beginning text, we saw that that that, Jesus Christ is declared to be the only potentate, the king of kings and lord of lords. And by definition, that's one with all power. He wields all power, doing as he pleases and as he chooses.
That's power. Power. It's like the song says, power, power, wonder working power. Now, my choice, My choice I'm trying to think how I can phrase this. My my choice for president would be the same as my choice for king. The only potentate, the king of kings, and the lord of lords. And he is the only one, the only one who can absolutely guarantee certain unalienable rights that are declared in his word. Why? Because he's all powerful. All power is Jesus Christ. Matthew twenty eight eighteen, and Jesus came and spake unto them saying, all power is given unto me in heaven and earth.
Don't you like that? Don't you like that? Not only is Jesus coming back in power, not only is all power given unto him, but Jesus comes back in power. And then they shall see the son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory. So he's coming. He's coming. And he's coming with great, great power, folks. You know, every single one of these clowns on Capitol Hill are gonna recognize his power. Jesus spoke with power, and they were astonished at his doctrine for his word was with power. Now I I guess in a lot of ways that's why folks have so much trouble with this book, with the word, because it has power.
It has power. Let me ask you that. Are you afraid of electricity? You should be. You know? You grab the wrong wire at the wrong time, and and it'll fry you, man. Folks are afraid of this book because it has power. More power than any two twenty wire you ever grabbed a hold of. Jesus is the power of God. But unto them which are called both Jews and Greeks, Christ, the power of God, and the wisdom of God. He's the power of God. He's coming back to establish his kingdom, the power of God. Jesus is above all power. Ephesians chapter one verse 19.
And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, which he wrought in Christ when he raised him from the dead and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality and power and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come. I mean, folks, doesn't that just make you wanna shout? Seriously, doesn't it just make you wanna stand up and just shout your lungs out?
You talk about power. Christ is the head of all power. Colossians two chapter, chapter two verse 10. And you are complete in him which is the head of all principality and power. He's the head of the whole thing. And just think about this. He's the head of the whole thing, and I'm complete in him. You're complete in him if you're saved. Christ has everlasting power. First Timothy chapter six. Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto, whom no man has seen nor can see, to whom be honor and power everlasting. Amen.
And then finally, God wants his power to be made known. God wants his power to be made manifest. What if what if God, willing to show his wrath and to make his power known, endured with much long suffering, the vessels of wrath, fitted to destruction? You know do you know how God chose to manifest his power in this age in which we live? Now, you know, one day he's coming back. One day he's coming back, and he's gonna demonstrate his power in a in a in a whole other way, and through a whole other process. He's gonna come back. He's gonna come in the clouds with great power. He's gonna come in great authority. But in this age in which you and I live, God has chosen to manifest his power by taking little vessels of wrath like you and like me, and he endures with much long suffering in our behalf.
You know, sometimes it takes more power to withhold than it does to act. Sometimes it takes more power to bite your tongue than to speak. That takes power. That takes power. And the power of God is manifested in that he continues to exhibit long suffering toward wayward sinners and calls them to Christ. When you go to church on Sunday mornings or Wednesday nights, Sunday nights, or even in a Bible study like this, is the power of God. Well, how do I witness that? Each one of us at some time was lost, not saved. We'd been witnessed to, we'd been dealt with, we had resisted, and God had every right by his power and his authority to send lightning from the sky and sizzle us like a french fry, right there on the spot.
But he didn't. He didn't. He endured with much long suffering. That's power, folks. That's power. I don't think I have that kind of power. I don't think I have that kind of power at all, but then again, God is more powerful than I am, and he endures with much long suffering. Our heavenly father, we wanna thank you for the day. Thank you, God, for this book. Thank you for the truth that is contained in it. God, we ask your blessings on it as we studied it today. Father, we ask you to bless each and every one that is under the sound of my voice. Father, I pray that if there's any that's listening that does not know Jesus Christ as their personal savior, Lord, that today would be the day that they call upon the name of the Lord and are saved.
That's what your word promises. You've made it so abundantly simple that all you need to do is call upon the name of the Lord. For there is no name under heaven given among men whereby man must be saved, but through Jesus Christ alone. Father, we thank you. Lord, we ask your protection over our country. Lord, we ask your protection over our president, our military, those that are in leadership and authority over us. Lord, we pay we pray for the peace in Jerusalem. And Lord, we pray that you would, give wisdom to our president, to his cabinet, to those abroad, to those in which we have conflict, and that, Lord, that you would stir circumstances and situations and thoughts and ideas, and help to deescalate these growing tensions here in the world so that there might be some measure of peace in the days to come.
Father, we thank you for all that you do for us. We thank you for the love, the mercy, the grace that you pour out upon us each and every day. We ask your blessings upon us as we wrap this thing up tonight. And, Lord, we ask you just to, just show mercy, father, and help us to live with the responsibility of self responsibility, of self government, and defend those rights that you have so beautifully and amazingly and wonderfully given us. And we'll thank you for it in Jesus' name. Amen. Alright. Well, folks, thus concludes, I told you I wouldn't remember the name of it, but the Joruus Institute for Conservative Thought with a Biblical basis, I guess. I don't know.
