Welcome to the podcast where every episode promises an unfiltered dive into the eclectic, the profound, and sometimes the absurd. No topic is off limits. Nothing is sacred, and political correctness takes a back seat.
[00:01:01] Unknown:
Alright. Hey, folks. Welcome to the podcast. This is Joe Rusciello, and it is absolutely great to be with you once again on a beautiful Monday morning in the month of December. And, folks, it is December 30th, 2024, and Donald j Trump is the president-elect of the United States. Folks, I hope you have a happy Monday so far. I hope it's been a good day for you. And not only that, but I hope you guys had a great week. You know, we had Christmas last week, and, that was always a treat. That's always great great time of year. I love Christmas. You know, despite with some of the folks that know me, personally would say that, you know, I'm I'm a Grinch or, I'm a Scrooge or anything like that.
It's it's not that I don't I don't like Christmas. I do. I like Christmas. I like the the spirit around Christmas. I like, what Christmas is all about realistically and, you know, biblically. What I don't like about it is the phoniness of Christmas. I don't like the commercialism of Christmas. I think we've come very, very far away from, what the true meaning of Christmas is all about. So that's that's what I don't like about it. And, you know, also, you know, the last couple of years been have been very difficult, for my family. You know, we lost we lost our dad. We lost our our mom, our grandmother.
You know, we just had so much loss around the holidays that, you know, we kinda kinda got a little stale, on celebrating, particularly the neck the last couple of years. But who knows? We'll see what, 2025 brings, because, in about 21 days, if I'm not mistaken, if my math is correct, and and I'll I'll I'll say that I'll say why in a moment. But in about 21 days, we have inauguration day, and, Donald Trump will be sworn in as the 47th president of the United States. And, you know, we're we're looking forward to the change. We're looking forward to, to some great things coming. We're looking forward to making America great again. We're looking forward to, making America healthy again.
We're looking forward to Doge. We're looking forward to, to to slimming down, this federal monstrosity, that we have, have fallen into. We're looking forward to the promises to cut back on federal agencies that, aren't, aren't needed, that are just basically a waste. There's a drag on on the on the taxpayer. We're looking forward to cutting back on on all the foreign assistance and foreign aid and redirecting those funds here into the United States. We're look we're looking forward to a lot of great things coming, and there you know, we're looking forward to, as, as president Trump has said, we're looking forward to a golden age for America. So, you know, I I hope it does happen. I hope it, I hope everything, transitions smoothly. You know, a lot of concern about security, safety, but, you know, we're gonna trust that, we're gonna get through this, this transition period safely, without any incident. And then, you know, we'll get down to business. Day 1, we're looking forward to a lot of change starting from day 1. Now the reason why I I mentioned earlier about the, about counting my days here, is because, last week, I I made a mistake. I said something I I I was incorrect on, and, believe me, all the little nitpickers out there, let me know. And, you know, so I I apologize for for saying that, that last Monday was December 22nd when it was actually 23rd. So, I'm aware of it. Thank you for letting me know. I appreciate it.
Thank you for trying to keep me honest about it. And, I I totally stand corrected, and I appreciate all the, all the correcte correctorsens in their their emails. So thank you. Thank you very much. Now, if you didn't catch the show last week, you need to go and listen to it. We had a we had a coffee talk with, Daniel Miller, who was the, the president of the Texas Nationalist Movement. And, it was a great talk. It was an absolutely great talk. I I thoroughly enjoyed it. Daniel Miller, he's a he's a great guy, smart guy, really knows his stuff, and, you know, he brought a lot to the table for us. He brought us a lot of really important information. He brought us a lot of excellent information. And, you know, we're we're we're gonna be devoting portions of the show in in in up in upcoming shows.
We're gonna be dedicating segments to the Texas nationalist movement, and, and and news related to that and events, and as well, we'll be trying to cover some from some state and local news, that that's going on right here around us. Now, you know, that's gonna be a lot of fun. It's gonna be interesting to do, and I'm I'm excited about it. You know, it's I think, I think it's gonna be really interesting to see how it goes. And then, of course, in in a couple of weeks, we'll we're gonna be sitting down with, with a a a a a man named, Jason Fry, who's going to who's written a great book called National Divorce.
And, we're gonna talk to him about his book and and talk about what that exactly is, and we'll, you know, it's it's gonna be a really, really interesting show. I've been reading his book. It's excellent. Very well written. I would encourage you to go pick it up, before that show. This way, we could, you know, you follow along that way. It'd be a lot easier. But, for today, you know, if you're interested in cryptocurrency, things like Bitcoin, today's show, I think, is gonna be really interesting for you. And, what we're gonna do is we're gonna be sitting down with Moritz Kaminsky who is the cofounder of Get Albi, which, if you don't know, it's it's a it's a Bitcoin wallet and and hub, website.
And, really see so I'm I'm a newbie to all this cryptocurrency stuff, and, I I kinda regret not getting into it sooner. But, but, I do have an account with GetAlBI, and, so I just wanna be completely upfront about that. This is a product that I would absolutely endorse if you, if you're looking for a a a crypto wallet, you're looking for a a great hub that they have, which we'll be talking about when, when Moritz comes on, what exactly the hub is. GetAlbhi is the place to go. You know? There's there's no fees attached to opening up an account there. You can either self host on the hub or you can use the cloud service on the hub, which if you use the cloud service, there is there is a monthly subscription for that. But it is well worth it because if you're not great at crypto, work and and and, you know, the the type of stuff that goes on with maintaining a wallet and maintaining a hub like this or or network, that that's probably the best thing for you to do because they do it for you. Alright? So, and, like, again, we'll talk about a lot of that with, with, Moritz when he comes on.
You know, one another thing about the the that that, particular business is is it's he's the customer service is great. You know, you have direct access to to the people that work there, particularly, you know, Moritz, the cofounder. You know, he personally got on the phone with me and, we, we did a video call and he walked me through fixing all the mistakes that I made and and combining the 2 wallets that I had put together into 1 hub and it was it was just really, really great. So, when Moritz comes on, we're gonna be talking about lightning networks, be talking about wallets, talking about the Get Alby hub, which again, I use and I I highly recommend it, if, if you're looking for something like that. So I really do hope that you'll enjoy the talk, and, we'll get to that in just a moment. But, before we do anything, with Moritz, we do have some housekeeping to do. So I wanna tell you about one of our sponsors, OMRI 1.
Armory 1 provides Texas license to carry certification and leverages over 30 years of military and law enforcement experience in instructing students in the safe use of firearms. Armory 1 also offers numerous courses on self defense with a handgun, active shooter preparedness, home defense, and much, much more. Now right now, you can get 50% off all of armory one's gift certificates, redeemable for, private range time, training, merchandise, however you wanna use it. And if you mentioned the show that you heard it here, you heard about this, this, 50% off deal on this podcast, Omry 1 will donate a portion of your purchase to this show to help us keep things going. Now that doesn't affect the price of anything for you. It doesn't come out of your pocket. That's a donation that that he's making, through the purchase. So, that's something we also greatly, greatly appreciate. So don't forget, head over to armoryone.com. You can get more information there. Don't forget to tell them that you heard about it here on the podcast.
And, we would appreciate that donation coming through. Alright. So that's armoryone.com. And, also, don't forget to head over to our website. That's also very important. Right? Joerusiello.com. And, when you get there, look for that contact form. Open up that little window. Send us over any comments, questions you might have. Also, while you're on the website, look for the support page. That's incredibly important for us right now. You know, we we just started this new podcast. You know, I you know, I have another podcast that I do that that's that's done very well and is continuing to do well. So we're trying to get this thing launched here. So we really do need the help. We need the support, the financial support to do it. Alright. So look for that support button. Click that support button. And remember that this podcast is a value for value podcast. And all that means is is that if you've received anything of value from what we're doing here, all we're asking is that you return that value in the form of a donation.
Okay. Now you can make a one time donation in any amount that you feel appropriate based on what value you've gotten from us. You could also donate your time. You could donate your talent. But if you set up a monthly recurring donation of $17.76, you'll receive an associate producer credit. And that basically means that you'll get a shout out on every show. So your name will be, thrown out all across this beautiful plane on which we live. Your name will be listed in the show notes as an as an associate producer of the show on every show, so you'll be getting that credit. And, I think that's a great little thing to do. You know? I think that's fantastic. But that's not all.
That's not all. If you set up a monthly recurring donation of $18.36, you'll receive producer credit. Alright? So it's a step up from the associate producer. That means same as, as the associate producer. You get the shout out every show. Your name will be listed in the show notes show notes as a producer of every show. And then finally, we added this one last week, and I and I hope you guys take advantage of this one. Any monthly recurring donation of $25 or more, gets all the perks of the other 2, except you get the coveted executive producer credit.
Executive producer. So get yourself involved. Help us keep the show going, and help us to improve. And remember, those titles, they have to they have to be a recurring monthly contribution, a monthly recurring donation. Alright. Now, having said that, I would like to give our first shout outs. Alright? So I would like to give a shout out to, unfortunately, an anonymous donor, who, sent us over a donation in satoshis, which is a micropayment of Bitcoin. And, he sent over or she sent over 24,789 sats on Christmas Eve. Hey, folks. Merry Christmas. Right? Now what that translates to is about $25 minus the fees and and and whatnot.
So I would love to give, our anonymous donor, the executive producer credit, but no name. I can't do it. So but we do appreciate that. Thank you. Thank you very much. We we really greatly appreciate that contribution. You know, $25, that's that's that's a nice little, that's nice little donation there, and we really appreciate it. So thank you for that, anonymous, and thank you for that wonderful Christmas gift. Also, we wanna give out, give a shout out to, to our upcoming guest, Moritz, for the 22 sats that, he sent over to us. And I, again, we really, really do appreciate that.
Thank you so so very much. Alright, folks. Well, before it gets, before I get too long winded here on this opening, we wanna get to Moritz. He's patiently waiting. Just wanna remind you, that, you know, this is the podcast. I am Joe Rusciello, and don't forget to like, subscribe, and share it with your friends, your family, and your followers. Help us to spread the news about this podcast.

Do you blame all your problems on Trump? Do you have blue hair and a bunch of metal in your face? Do you not know what a woman is and confused about your gender? Good news. You have TDS, and it's a very treatable condition. Please take the time to find a mental health professional near you and prepare yourself for all the lies you've been told. Alright, folks. Hey. Welcome back to the podcast. This is, again, Joe Luciello, and, we have a a really interesting guest, sitting here waiting for us to get started here. And, I gotta tell you, I I this is a service that I've I've used, for about a little over a year now, with with the podcast, and, it's it's, through get albi.com. It's, it's a Bitcoin hub that, that that really helps podcasters, especially, to, to to to be able to receive streaming stats. You've heard me mention those before and and, and boosts and and and Bitcoin payments or satoshis, which is really just micro payments of Bitcoin. It's like pennies really. But, you know, they, they do add up as as as more of them do come in. So, so I'd like to introduce everybody here to Moritz Kaminski, who is the, cofounder of Get Albi and a great guy. And I'll tell you why he's such a great guy in, in just a minute, but just let's say, let's say hello to to Moritz. How are you doing, bro?
Hi, Joe. I'm I'm fine. Yeah. Thanks for inviting me, and joining your podcast. That's cool. Yeah. This is great, man. I I was really looking forward to this, and, so let me let me tell the folks why I why you're you're such a great guy. Alright. Because here you are you are you are a cofounder of a of a fairly large, operation, I would I would think. Right? I don't know how many millions of podcasts are out there that that probably use Get Albi at some form, way, shape, or another, for for their for their, Bitcoin payments, Satoshis, and and whatnot. But, you actually I I I set up the Albi hub, which was a kind of a new, step for GetAlbi at the time, and I was having a world of problems doing it because I am not a tech guy. I I really have no clue what I'm doing with this stuff, or as far as Bitcoin and and and cryptos.
But, I I I had got an email, and I wasn't sure if it was an auto generated email or if it was an actual person, you know, sending the email to me, and it was from you. You had your signature on it, and I responded. And when we started chatting back and forth, and, a couple of weeks ago, you actually took time out of your schedule more than an hour to, to to help me, migrate 2 different hubs together into 1 to make some sense out of everything that was going on and get me really connected to everything because I I I wasn't. I wasn't able to receive any payments or anything like that, and, I really do appreciate that. You know, you don't get a lot of that type of service from from folks, out there when you're trying to do these things. A lot of times, it's a it's a do it yourself thing, but you really took the time out to do that, man, and I appreciate that. That was that was a real blessing, and and that just really confirmed that I wanted to get you on here and and talk about some of the things that that, Get Albi does. And, so why don't you, just give us a little bit of a rundown of of what brought about Get Albi, how how you do your business, you know, what exactly is it, and, and then we'll go on from there. Sure. Yeah. Sure.
[00:18:04] Unknown:
Yeah. So we started, Ivy because we saw, like, you can extremely easy transfer information across the Internet, like, from me to you, like, or podcast, for example, or sending emails. It's extremely easy and it's it's it's free. Right? But actually transferring value, between me and you is still extremely difficult, though. It's it's actually also just separated. Right? So you have banking rails and then you have the Internet to transfer information. And and with Alby, the idea is to bring this together to make, like, transferring value, actual value, as easy as transferring, information across borders instantly, and and it should be available to every person. And and Bitcoin is ex exactly that, what what, gives us, what enables us to do that and, partnered or together with the Lightning Network, which is, like, the payment network on top of Bitcoin.
We can also now, transfer value instantly across any borders. And that's how, Alby was born, basically. Yeah. And, that was, like, 3 years ago, 4 years ago, came out of the open source community. So this is a very, very important part of our DNA at Alby, working together with with the open source community. Like, most of our products are open source. And since then, we've been evolving. We have now a bunch of products out there, and and podcasters are one of our most important, like, users, actually. It's a great use case, like, that you mentioned with with streaming money, because that's actually exactly where, like, you cannot use, like, so easily a PayPal or so because the podcast ecosystem is extremely diverse in terms of apps. Right?
People have, like, there are 10 different listener apps. There are 10 different podcast hosting services. So how do you align on, which payment mechanism do you use? And and Bitcoin, allows you to do that because it's an open payment network. Everybody can participate, and Albie builds the tools to make that extremely easy for for listeners, for podcasters to, to send and receive, Bitcoin.
[00:20:34] Unknown:
Now you you mentioned open source. Now I I I know what open source is, but there are some people out there who who may not be aware of what that is. Can you can you kinda explain what open source is all about?
[00:20:45] Unknown:
Yeah. Maybe, like, to be precise here, it's so it's free and open source. That's, a, I would say, a license, basically. There are different open source licenses like MIT, Apaches, etcetera. But that basically means, that everybody can use our tools, has full transparency into the code base, and can do what they want with it. So they can, download it from us, but they can also go to a public repository and download the code there, build the product, and use it
[00:21:23] Unknown:
without asking us. Oh, wow. Okay. That that so I I that I wasn't fully aware of that that you could actually just, you know, grab your work and just build upon that. Excuse me one second. Sorry. I, for for the folks that are I I am fighting a a cold here, so, you I might have to mute myself a couple of times as we're talking, but, so I I apologize for the for the cough break there. But, but, but get albie has been a real, a real, blessing for me, and and I've I've enjoyed using it, and it's it the the I I think once you get comfortable using, especially the hub because I I will be honest with you, you know, I will say when when the hub came out, I got so frustrated with it. I was like, oh, why couldn't they just leave well enough alone? It was great with just the webs the web app, you know? You just get on everything's right there. But as I've been kind of touring the hub and trying to understand how it works, it really is very good and and it it it's it has a lot of potential to do so much more than what it does. Now, now going from the website, the just just using on off the web to the hub, what was the thoughts behind that, and and, and how did that all come about?
[00:22:39] Unknown:
So the very, very first step was actually the browser extension that we that we built, because, you know, we always wanted to bring, like, we want to make it, like, want to teach browsers to transfer value, and that's why we build a browser extension. But then we realized, ah, okay. But users also need a wallet to actually send and receive the Bitcoin. So that that was the next step. This wallet, however, was managed and hosted by us. So not the user was interacting with the payment network, but they were interacting with the service, and we were then transacting, transferring the SUDs from a to b on behalf of the user.
So that only works to a limited, extent, but once you are big enough, you, there are regulations that need you need to comply with with, which are also extremely expensive, as a as a growing startup. So, that's why 1 year ago, we decided, okay. Actually, we we are already building, on a peer to peer payment technology with Bitcoin. Right? So why not actually leverage that and give the keys back to the user? So let the user interact directly with the payment network. And that's why we we we, built, Albiha, which is a self custodial, Bitcoin lightning wallet with its own integrated lightning node.
It is, like, one of the easiest to use apps out there, but especially, like, from a from a company perspective, it allows us now to scale because we do not have these regulatory limitations, where we need to, yeah, comply with, like, local laws, because it's it's the user's wallet right now. It's the user's own keys. We are just providing the software.
[00:24:41] Unknown:
Okay. Now, what options does Alby offer for guys like me? Just the just the the normal, you know, nontechnical, you know, guy that, you know, to open up a lightning wallet, and, so so what does Albi offer for for guys like that?
[00:25:01] Unknown:
Yeah. Actually, a bunch. I think in my point of view. So, there's there's Albi Hub. Right? So that's basically your center when it comes to or your hub when it comes to Bitcoin payments. You can send. You can receive. You can store them. And then from there, you can connect that to to different apps. So as, as a podcaster, for example, you can connect that to a a a podcast hosting service, for example. Right? You, as a as a podcast listener, you can connect that to a listener app, and then you can send, these boostergrams.
You can stream money, as you wish, because that's really, like, the strength of an LB Hub is the connectivity and or or yeah. To to to different apps out, where you basically want to have in app transactions. And for creators, there are a bunch of possibilities. So there are the mentioned ones, but there's also a WordPress plugin, for example, that you can install on your WordPress blog, to receive donations. This is this one example. Yeah. In the Bitcoin, ecosystem, for example, that Nostr is extremely popular where you can send, and receive Sats, across different Nostr, apps. Nostr is like, yeah, often used as a social media, protocol where a lot of, apps built, sort of a, yeah, open, social media network.
So this is another, great use case. And then we also have, like, that's why podcast hosting companies integrated albihap, because we have developer APIs for for for these people, where we basically abstract away the complexities of of of the Bitcoin network, the lightning network, and and, yeah, they can just use their own languages like JavaScript, have SDKs, as they're used to today. So there are a bunch of possibilities there.
[00:27:14] Unknown:
Yeah. And can can you, also, like, one of the things that I when I first started using the hub that I I really had a hard time with was, channels and liquidity and and and the things like that. Can you kinda run through what all of that is, what that means for people who might not who might have a similar problem that I have?
[00:27:31] Unknown:
Mhmm. Yeah. You can basically, think of, like, if you run a hub, you really own your wallet. You really own the things that are stored within the hub. You do not rely on any institution, to make make transactions. So you install a hub. We actually do that for you in in albcloud. Extremely easy with one click. But once the hub is up and running, you also need to connect it to the payment network. Right? When you go to a bank, your bank does that. But with with alphab, you need to do that yourself and that and you connect it to the payment network by opening a payment channel. And, we we help you to do that by, suggesting your channel partners.
And what you actually already need is, just one channel. And through this channel, you can send and receive payments. So for redundancy reasons, you can now add a second channel if you want, but that's really up to you. But from that then onwards, you are good to go, and, and that should be fine for for for for a couple of months. And there is not much to that afterwards. And that's also why we offer these these onboarding session. First of all, I mean, we do it in a personal way because they're way more fun. And second, could you do it personally? And second, we think, like, okay. Get your alphab hub set up once properly, and then you're good to go, basically.
[00:29:09] Unknown:
Yeah. And that and that was again, when you when you kinda walked me through all that, that that it just made it so much I started to understand it a lot more, and it's good. And I I am actually gonna register for 1 of the, the onboarding sessions just so I can go through it and and try to understand a little bit better, and, and try to make better use of this. Now you mentioned channels, now is is that will like like, because I have the 2 podcast. Right? So I I would so if I wanted to put that other podcast on the same hub that this one is on, it would have to go through the process of opening a channel for that one specifically. Is that correct? Am I understanding it right?
[00:29:46] Unknown:
Actually not. And that's that's, another cool feature, of IB Hub is the capability of creating sub wallets. Oh, okay. So instead of, for example, running 2 hubs for 2 podcasts, then you need to open 2 channels. No. You can actually, bring both podcasts to 1 hub, assign different sub wallets or create different sub wallets on your hub, and then you can share the channels and and and the liquidity that you have, on on this hub already. And that's great because, it's just, like, way less maintenance work. It's way easier to set up, and it's ex ex actually also a lot lot lot cheaper. So you do not have to pay for a second hub. You do not have to pay for for a for a for a second channel. And also compared to many other lightning wallets out there, running in a in a self custodial way right, as you do right now, is is, a lot more efficient,
[00:30:47] Unknown:
in terms of cost. Yeah. I still have to move the other one over. So I'm working on that. We'll get there. Another great thing that that I saw is now you can purchase your Bitcoin, your Sats through the the hub itself. Correct? You don't need to have a separate wallet and or a separate account someplace. Like, you don't need to have a Coinbase account and purchase in Coinbase and then transfer it over.
[00:31:07] Unknown:
Yeah. Yeah. There are ways, depending on where you're located, you can, purchase Bitcoin directly with Alby. That's that's possible. But, as we are already on a open payment network, it doesn't matter where you have your Bitcoin as long as the, the the exchange platform or the wallet supports the Lightning Network, you can then already send it over to your hub. And that actually also makes makes the onboarding a lot easier.
[00:31:36] Unknown:
Sure. And, I'm sure it would also probably save on the fees and and what the tran the transfer fees because I know sometimes they could be, you know, pretty expensive, when you're when you're transferring from one wallet to someplace else and and and wanna because you have the what they call network fees, if I'm not mistaken? Exactly. Yeah. So,

if you would send a like I said, let's say a traditional Bitcoin on chain transaction, that's, like, that takes 10 minutes, at least because that's the time of a of a block confirmation. And exchanges, I think, charge, yeah, around $10 or so for for one withdrawal, depends a little bit. Whereas, on the Lightning Network, you with Altria, currently, you have fees of around 0.2%. Other Lightning wallets have around 1%. So that's already a lot cheaper. And, of course, then compared to Onchain Bitcoin, it's it's way more.
[00:32:43] Unknown:
Yeah. Yeah. I think it was yesterday or the or the or the day before yesterday. I'm I don't remember which which day it was. I had purchased some I had purchased a small amount of Bitcoin, just a few $100 worth. And, I was moving that from from the wallet to an investment account because I move it there, then I then I convert it into dollars, and then I purchase, some commodities with it, and I built I'm building a portfolio. I I'm not I don't have a ton of money. I don't. I'm barely starting. But, what what I found frustrating was is that, talking about fees, just transferring over that small amount, when I hit that transfer button, it was like, you don't have enough to cover all the fees. And I'm like, oh, I go back and buy more, and now I didn't have enough for that because now because it was more that I was sending, the fee was more. You know? So it it it it gets it does get kinda get a little frustrating with with the different fees. And it was for, for the amount that I was sending, they they they took out, I think it was, like, let me just check my phone here. Give me one second.
Yeah. It was 544 sats that I purchased. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. 544,000 sats that I purchased, and they charged me, almost $13 Mhmm. Mhmm. Yeah. You know, for for a 20 minute transfer. Yeah. You know? So it's, you know, it it it can get a little pricey enough. They and that's and with the rates that that that Albee, works with, I mean, that just makes it so much better. So I'm really looking forward to seeing more integration and and things like that, and and eventually, I'll be taking over the whole world. You know? Is that the plan?
[00:34:37] Unknown:
Well, we would love to see more lightning activity. Definitely.
[00:34:41] Unknown:
Yeah. Okay. So so you have the lightning network. Are there other networks out there that that, that people can use with AlbieHub?
[00:34:51] Unknown:
No. So we are definitely only focusing on Bitcoin.
[00:34:55] Unknown:
Okay.
[00:34:56] Unknown:
There is, however, the possibility that, for example, with the browser extension, you could interact with the liquid network, which is a side chain to Bitcoin.
[00:35:09] Unknown:
Okay.
[00:35:11] Unknown:
That's possible. But for IB Hub, we do not have plans to to support any other chains because we believe that Bitcoin is the most valuable asset, and, ultimately, people want to transfer only the most valuable asset.
[00:35:28] Unknown:
Absolutely.
[00:35:29] Unknown:
And and with the Lightning Network and upcoming innovations of of, of of payment protocols, we will we also have a very efficient way to transfer the value from a to b.
[00:35:43] Unknown:
Outstanding. And, one the the other the one thing about, like like you said, you you want the most valuable asset. I was looking at the price of Bitcoin, and and I cannot believe how much how much Bitcoin is. I, dude, I regret when Bitcoin first came out that I didn't jump on board this thing. Let me just take a quick look here. Actually, you probably know off the top of your head what the what the current price of Bitcoin is. Let me see. Nope. That's not
[00:36:16] Unknown:
Should be a bit, a bit above a 100,000 US dollar for Bitcoin.
[00:36:22] Unknown:
Yeah. That's what I'm looking. Yeah. It's a it's a 106,583 right now. Oh, wow. And it's jumping as I'm watching it. It's 106, 611. Yeah. It's it's it's up, like, 6 like, point 16% right now. I mean, that's just that's just insane. It really is. So so for for folks that don't that may not understand how this works and, again, I'm not an expert on this at all. I do not offer any financial advice when it comes to cryptocurrencies or anything like that. I am still in the learning stages. But, but, just not even 2 weeks ago, bitcoin was at, I think, 89,000.
Alright. Now here it's over a 106,000. So what that basically means is that to purchase one coin, one Bitcoin, to have one complete Bitcoin Mhmm. That one coin is a $106,000. Just one coin. So if you jumped on this thing when it first launched, how long ago did Bitcoin get started?
[00:37:34] Unknown:
Around, like, 15 15 years ago. Yeah. So
[00:37:37] Unknown:
and it was, like, dirt cheap. You know, it's kinda like what, like, was, like, like, a Dogecoin is now. It's, like like, a couple of bucks Yeah. For for for 1.
[00:37:47] Unknown:
Yeah. Yeah. Do you know do you know the pizza day? No. What what what what people celebrate? I don't know what what when exactly it was. It was, like, early 2010, like, 11, 12 or so, somewhere in May. A person bought, 1 pizza for, I don't know. I have to lie now, like, 10,000 Bitcoin. And, yeah. And since then, people celebrate this guy, the same day every year because he spent already 10,000 bitcoin, for a pizza back then. Of course, they all say, okay. If he just have kept it I mean, yes. That's true. But you can also, spend 10,000 Bitcoin and just rebuy it again. So without having any, influence on on your portfolio. Right? Yeah. But, yes. People use that Bitcoin also as a as a medium of exchange.
[00:38:52] Unknown:
Yeah. I'm also and I was gonna say I'm seeing that a lot too, in a lot of businesses now accepting Bitcoin payments. But then again, you also have to worry about the scams. You have to worry about these these people. And I'm gonna tell you from personal experience, not me personally, but somebody that I know, that, they got one of those messages, I think it was on Telegram or something like that, you know, where, hey, we can help you invest in all this and your Bitcoin and whatnot. And, you know, he invested money in it, and and he, lost it all.
He invested quite a bit at the time. It was, like, I I wanna say it was upwards of $10,000 cash that he put into it. And, and and it it was a scam. When he tried to withdraw it, they they couldn't help him. They couldn't get it withdrawn. He ended up losing the whole thing. So, you know, people will use Bitcoin as, as an attempt to steal regular cash from you. So that's something else you have to be very, very, very careful of.
[00:39:55] Unknown:
Yes. So, so what we recommend here is, for example, to to not react on any Telegram message that you get because Telegram is definitely there are a lot of, people who are not nice to you, don't treat you nicely. If you interact with Albie, we always say just interact with our email address because there you can make sure for which domain it comes. That's that's like we are behind that. That that's usually the best way to interact with with a company's prod this, products. And also, yeah, I mean, check a little bit, like, their history on social media, how people talk about them. Listen to friends.
[00:40:40] Unknown:
I think, like like yeah. And your gut. Like, trusted recommendations usually help. Yes. And your gut. And and, you know, if if if something smells fishy, stay away from it. You know? Because sometimes you could tell. You you could easily tell. I I I get emails all the time of, you know, from all these places and and, you know, they'll they'll have, like, a familiar name to it, and and they'll say something like, hey. You just ordered this, this, this, and this, and or you ordered from some some place. Yeah. Of course. Yeah. Everybody orders from Amazon. Everybody orders from this, that. Yeah. Maybe I did put an order in. Check that email address. Check it before you even click on anything. Just look at the email address and see what kinda crazy address it is and if it looks like something, that's that's that's then it's suspicious. And a lot of them, you know, are fishing for your your Bitcoin information and and and I wonder actually, that that that's a thought just came to mind. And I wonder, like, if if you do get involved with some of these things, is there any way for someone to get hold of your, your wallet address, unless you directly give it to them? Is there some way is there can someone get a hold of that and and basically just run amok with your, with your, your wallet?
[00:41:50] Unknown:
That's extremely hard, but ultimately, you know, we are building software. Right? So and and I would say the the risk model is very similar to any other, software wallet I see. Or hard and there's always a bit of a risk that things can get hacked. Now we make sure that it does not happen as much as we can. Right? We have we get things audited, for example. A lot of users use us on a daily basis, so people probably also are trying to hack it regularly Sure. Which further hardens it. But I think, ultimately, just use these things in a responsible way, I'd say.
[00:42:37] Unknown:
And it's like you said when we were talking privately about when you would help Newt with everything. You know, technology is constantly advancing. Technology is constantly changing. It's constantly evolving. And the hard part is is keeping up with it and, and and and keeping it safe and secure. And that's one of the things that I've seen with Alby as I've been as I've been researching it and and just following along with all the information that I've been that I get from it. You know, Alby does take steps to make sure that your information is safe, secure, and that each transaction that you're doing on there is being done properly, safely, and securely, and your information is not gonna just somehow find its way out there into the ether and you find yourself bankrupt one day. And, so, yeah, I think Albie's doing a great job with that. And and and, Marz, I I really do appreciate everything that Albie's been doing.
[00:43:31] Unknown:
No. I mean, we love to do that, what we do. So we very much believe, in in in Bitcoin, giving users better tools, to use freedom money. Right? And especially for podcasting. We've been in podcasting since more than 2 years now, offering our services, and we will continue to do so.
[00:43:56] Unknown:
Yeah. As a matter of fact, my host platform, I I use podhome.fm. And, if you are looking for a a a good pod a good podcast host platform, I would recommend you try out Pod Home. As a matter of fact, the gentleman I spoke to last night, I I I I pitched it for Barry yesterday, and he's gonna check him out. Might have a good customer coming his way. So I'll expect my little That's great. I'll expect my little cut there off the top. You know? So, no. I'm kidding. Of course. But, but, but, yeah, you know, Pod Home made it very easy to to integrate everything in, and it was it was pretty I didn't do have to do anything, really. I just think I just had to move my my address or my wallet information into Pod Home and and it took care of the rest. And I think a lot of the modern podcast platforms that are starting to come out now, that are incorporating, lightning payments and and bitcoin and there's more of them coming out there, and and so I think this is a great thing. I think it's gonna be a wonderful thing for podcasting. I I you know, I'm not gonna say I get a I get a ton of, of stats or anything like that streaming. I I don't couldn't tell you how many, but, you know, it it all helps. It all comes in, and, and and Albie makes it that much easier to do. Alright, Mauritz. So, we're gonna we're gonna start we're gonna start to wrap this thing up here at this point. I wanna thank you so much for spending all your time here with us this morning.
