Hey, folks. Welcome to The Podcast. This is Joe Russiello, and it is Monday, December 9, 2024, and Donald J. Trump is the president-elect of the United States. Happy Monday, folks. I really hope you guys had a great week. I really do. And, you know, before we even get anywhere further with the opening of the show here, I know it's not even a minute in. I have a very very important thing I need to announce here, and that goes out to my sister, Laura. I just wanted to wish you a very very happy birthday. I know it was yesterday, but, you know, didn't do the show yesterday, so we're doing it today. And, here we are. Happy birthday. I wish you the best. I love you. And, looking forward to being able to, get together with you and and Jude and having a great, having a great time. So, again, happy birthday to my sister, Laura. And, folks, have you been following the news?
You know, it's been 38 days since the election, and it's what is it? It's 36 days until inauguration day. Is that right? Yeah. 36 days. And Donald Trump has done more to improve the standing of America on the world stage than Joe Biden has done, well, ever. The level of respect and admiration that that that's being shown to Donald Trump by world leaders has been absolutely incredible. You know, the Trump effect, And I don't know if you've been, following the news with the reopening of the the cathedral in Notre Dame. Just the the the respect that Donald Trump has been given.
Everyone on their feet smiles all over, firm handshakes, firm pats on the back, and you compare that to when Joe Biden, comes creeping around. The the level of respect is just the difference in a level of respect is just blatantly obvious. You know, you sit you watch the media, you and you you watch the Liberals, meltdown over all of his cabinet picks. That's a joy, isn't it? That's an absolute joy. So things are looking better. Things are I mean, you know, the stock market's doing better already and Donald Trump has not even been inaugurated yet. He's already, been in in talks with with Russia, Ukraine to bring an end to, that conflict.
The, the Palestinians and the Israelis, he's already involved in that, and that's that's, you know, lord willing coming to a close. But you know what? There's still a lot of work to do. There is still a lot of work to do, and we cannot lose focus on things here at home. Yes. It's great. Things are going well abroad. Things are going well overseas, but really, honestly, that's that's not our concern. You know, I'm not an isolationist. I don't think we shouldn't be involved in in world in affairs. However, I think it should be, it should be carefully looked at before we get into involved. Does it directly affect the national interest of this country?
And at the answer to that is there's no direct effect on us, stay out of it. What's going on right now in Syria, with the Assad, regime crumbling and toppling. I understand that Assad right now is in, in Russia, for for asylum. That's not something that the United States should be involved in. I'm sorry. I don't think we should have boots on the ground there. I don't think we should have any involvement in whatsoever. It's a strictly internal affair. It's something strictly internal. It need to be taken care of by the Syrians. It's not us. It's not our responsibility to be the policeman of the world.
Now with that said, again, there's a lot of work to do. I'm happy things are working out, and I'm happy that the level of respect that, that's being afforded to the United States now because of Donald Trump is is in place. I I I'm I'm thrilled at that. But, folks, we have a lot of work to do here at home. A lot of work we have still an open and porous border. I live in Eagle Pass. I have the border. It's not far from where I live. It's an open porous border all the way through. It's that's that's still is an issue that needs to be dealt with. And, yes, I agree with Donald Trump. There should be mass deportations. Absolutely.
If you are in this country illegally, you need to go. You need to go home. So I I I firmly agree with, with Tom Homan. I firmly agree with with Donald Trump and their policy and his policy of deporting mass deportations. I I am fully in support of that and needs to happen and needs to happen starting day 1. Plain and simple. Just like the j 6, folks that are that are still locked up, They need to be pardoned. They need to be allowed to go home. They've been locked up since for 4 years. 4 years, they've been locked up. For what? For ex for for for walking through the Capitol.
Not doing any damage, not hurting anybody, not doing just walking through the and people who haven't who weren't even there or didn't even go into the capital were just there. It's it's crazy. These people need to be pardoned and need to be pardoned on day 1. There is much work to do here at home. We have midterms we need to look forward to, and we need to start focusing our attention there. You know, right now, we have a very slim majority in the house, the house of representatives, and, you know, with with, you know, corrupt states like California still 38 days after an election counting, ballots, you know, who knows?
By the time inauguration, they'll come, maybe they'll they'll steal another couple of seats and then take the majority. Who knows? But we have a very slim majority in the house as it is as it stands right now, and what we need to do is we need to focus on primary and removing from office as many of these, you know, republican in name only, these rhinos as we possibly can. You know, the first two years of Trump's administration are gonna be critical in getting his his agenda pushed through because of that slim majority. It's gonna be a lot of hard work, but it has to go through. We have to put a lot of pressure on our elected representatives to follow through on these campaign promises, to follow through with with, president Trump's agenda.
Now when it comes to the senate, we don't really have to worry about that too much because we do have, I think we have a 4 seat advantage right now, in the senate and or 3 3 seat event or 4 seat advantage, but we have an advantage. And, even it comes down to a tie vote, we have the tie breaking vote in JD Vance. So we need to keep the pressure on, and we need to look to the midterms. At the house of reps, we need to look at those. We need to flip more seats. We need a bigger majority. Otherwise, all the work and all the promises that that, that president Trump has made is gonna is gonna be even harder to get pushed through.

Now, last week, we had a great great time and a great talk with George Antuna. Now, George Antuna was the former city manager of the city of Eagle Pass, a political extraordinaire, 30 years of experience in Republican politics around Texas. He he laid out his resume for us on the show. You gotta check it out. And I I really do hope that you guys enjoyed that conversation as much as I did. We had a great time doing it. A great time. We, we got together the night before.
We had some cigars. We had some we had we had a couple of drinks. We had a good conversation. I can't tell you everything we talked about because, you know, things are there that I can't talk about, at least not yet. But, we had a great conversation that night, and then it carried over the next day when when he came by the studio for to do the show. And, that was a that was a great treat. He was our first ever in studio guest, and, you know, that that's something that I've been looking forward to doing for quite a while. I had, you know, the studio set up for it now, so that was great, that we've been able to do that.
And, you know, we had a great conversation, before the show started. We had another one during the show and even afterwards. And, it was just a real a real treat to be able to sit with him and to and to hear him talk about his life experience in politics and to hear him talk about the issues that are so important, to the state of Texas, especially here in Eagle Pass. And, and it's it's a wonder wonderful conversation that we had. So if you haven't, had a chance to check it out, just head over to our website, joerusiello.com. That's joerusiello.com, or you can also always get it on any of your podcasting platforms wherever it is you get your podcast.
You could also go to episodes.fm, and in the search bar there, you can put the name of the show, the podcast with Joe Russiello, and, it'll tell you all the places that you can pick it up. Alright? Now and I I gotta tell you that the the the downloads have been absolutely phenomenal. Thank you so much to every one of you who have been, who who've been listening to the show. Thank you so much for the downloads. You know, it it just blows me away because, you know, I do have another podcast that I do. And, in the amount of time that it took for that podcast to get the amount of downloads we've gotten with this one, it blows my mind because we've gotten, we've got it took me it took us 4 4 months, I think, to get the number of downloads that we have now with this show with the other one. The it that's how long it took, and that's the trend we're on right now. That and that it just blows me away, and I again, thank you all for that. And, one of the things that we did talk about on the show was, the possibility, the probability, and, hopefully, the reality of, George coming in and being with us as a as a regular second chair. And so, which would be which would be great because, you know, you do this type of a show by yourself. It gets kinda dull. I'll I'll be the first to admit that.
So it's always great when you have somebody sitting across from you that you could you can, you know, parlay with and banter with and and, and and bounce ideas and and conversation off of. It's great. So, I'm really looking forward to that, and I'm hoping that we're able to do that. And, if we can't do it, here in studio because, you know, his job requires him to travel, quite frequently, We could always do it remotely, and we'll be able to do that at some point, and I'm really excited about it and looking forward to it. Now, this week, what we're gonna do is we're gonna sit down with Ruben Ortega Landa. Now, you might be asking yourself, well, okay. Well, who's that? Okay. Well, Ruben happens to be a great friend of mine, a brother in Christ, and, a work colleague.
In just in full disclosure, he's actually my my one of my bosses. But, but, we have a great friendship outside of work, and, we have and even at work, we have some great conversations. So, I thought it would be interesting to bring him on. Now, Rubin has a lot of insight into politics. He's he's, he's a he's kind of a political animal like myself. You know, he he gets into it, and we have some great conversations about that. He has a lot of insight into life in general. And, and strangely enough, he is a a rising TikTok star. You know, he has a he has a, a TikTok channel page. I don't know what you call it on TikTok, but, and and and, it is just sparked, a lot of growth in a very short period of time, and, you know, we're excited to talk to him about that. And there's a few other things that we're gonna get into also, and and I'm sure it's gonna be a, I'm sure it's gonna be a, an episode that you're gonna enjoy.
Now, now just, again, in full disclosure, this is a prerecorded segment. Alright? And, I just wanna give you guys a heads up that, unfortunately, we did have some audio issues, toward the end of the show or the end of the segment rather, and, there there were some choppy moments. Alright? Now, I did the best that I could to piece it all together, but, you know, we'll see how, you know, hopefully, it's it's not too bad. I listened to it, prior to doing the show here and and, it it you know, it's okay. The the the editing portion of it, the the choppiness of it, but content's great. And, Ruben and I are gonna be sitting down again, shortly possibly in studio in the coming weeks, to to finish up that chat. There were there were several areas that, we wanted to get into, but we weren't able to again because of the problems with the software that we were using, to record.
Alright. Now before we get into it, into the segment with Reuben, let's don't forget to head over to the website, joerusiello.com, and then look for that support button if you would. It's up on the top right. There's a little pancake up there. You can just hit that thing. Look for the support page. And, folks, this is a value for value podcast. Alright? And all that basically means is that if you've received anything of value from what we're doing here, what we're asking is that you return that value to us in the form of a donation. Alright. Now, you can donate any amount that you feel appropriate.
Any amount, but here's where it gets sweet. If you want an associate producer credit, a shout out, and be added to our show notes for the next show, we ask for a one time donation of $17.70 76¢. Alright. So that's an associate producer credit, a shout out, and your name, included in our show notes for the next show for a one time donation of $17.76. Now, if you want a producer credit in the show notes and and that for every show and receive a shout out every show, what you need to do is set up a recurring donation. A recurring donation of $18.36.
Alright. So again, that's a one time donation, gets an associate producer credit, a shout out and added to the show notes on the on the on the following show for $17.76. Producer credit, in the show notes every show, a shout out every show, you need to set up a recurring donation of $18.36. All the information is gonna be up on the website very shortly. There's some brief information on it right now, but, just head over to the website and check it out. Alright. Well, we're gonna take a quick break here. And when we come back from the break, we'll be with, with Ruben Ortega Landa. Folks, this is The Podcast with Joe Rucialo. Don't forget to like, subscribe, and share the show with your friends, your family, and your followers. And we'll be back right after this.

We're here with, with my my good buddy, Ruben, and, we are, we're gonna have a wide ranging conversation today. Again, like like I said, we're gonna talk about his his, TikTok fame. But, one of one of the things with Reuben too is that I but I love to talk about him with his politics. Ruben and I have had some great conversations about politics. We talk about a lot of things, you know, scripture. We talk about, the Bible. We talk spiritual matters. We talk politics. We talk a ton of stuff. But, what I wanna do is, bro, I wanna play something for you and, I want your take on this. Alright?
You tell me what you think about this. Here we go. Okay.
[00:19:31] Unknown:
He cheated. There was fraud.
[00:20:03] Unknown:
Well,
[00:20:07] Unknown:
tell me. There First of all, I couldn't I couldn't make out what he was seeing. Was he seeing intruder or insurance or what that was he screaming?
[00:20:15] Unknown:
He cheated is what is what he's screaming. Oh, he cheated. He cheated. So so that that was a sample from, the the mental illness known as liberalism that has been spreading across.
[00:20:27] Unknown:
Was that Goopy Whoopi Goldberg?
[00:20:30] Unknown:
No. Actually, that that was some that was some guy. That was some that was some guy. It looks like he maybe in his his late twenties, early thirties sitting in his car That's funny. With with with the half colored head, you know, all that stuff. You know, just Oh, yeah. Screaming his head off over this the the, the recent election. So Uh-huh. Oh, man. That's funny. And I got I got another one for you. Just hold on.
[00:20:54] Unknown:
Alright.
[00:20:56] Unknown:
No. No. Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Do you really hate me that bad?
[00:21:09] Unknown:
Yeah.
[00:21:14] Unknown:
Dude, I I cannot keep away from liberal media. No. It's it's hysterical. Right? It really is. Dude, the the yeah. I've had never watched so much MSNBC and then CNN and everybody as I have this past day. I love it.
[00:21:30] Unknown:
I love it. Yeah. I'll I'll I'll I'll be honest with you, bro. You know, I I've watched like you, I've watched more of the left, news media than I in recent weeks than I have The meltdowns are beautiful. Meltdowns are beautiful. They are priceless. Now those two clips that I played for me, believe believe it or not, I got it from TikTok. Strange enough. Right? But, they they just exemplify the mental illness that liberalism truly is. I mean, these people are literally sitting in their cars, screaming their heads off, talking about how the world is coming to an end. Life is over. They're gonna, you know, they they they their their rights are being taken away from them. But the interesting thing is though is that they, you know, they never say what rights are being taken away from them. You ever noticed that?
[00:22:19] Unknown:
Yeah. That's true. That's true, man. Yeah. I mean, I I I I hear this stuff, and I'm I'm starting to think that it is a mental mental illness on the part of some of them. Yeah. Not everybody. No. Look. But, but yeah.
[00:22:36] Unknown:
There there are look. No. There are people on the left that that are intelligent, maybe maybe 5 or 6, and then, you know, that that could actually articulate themselves and speak in coherent sentences and express a thought and idea. But then but the problem is though is in no seriousness, I think the left has truly catered way too much to this hyper fringe side of it that now these folks are are becoming the mainstream in, on on the left. And it's just taking taking that particular party into a very, very, very strange place.
[00:23:11] Unknown:
They have taken them hostage, man. I mean, they cannot they cannot go against anything these, fringe people, you know, talk about or want. It's and it's because if they go against it, then then, I mean, the few voters that they have will go somewhere else. And, I mean, not particularly to do to the, conservative side, but maybe, I don't know, form some other party or something. But but but but then again, also, the I think the parties also believes this kind of stuff, man. Well, they adopt it all. People in there that actually do believe it. You know, it's they're not just acting for them. They actually do believe it. I mean, AOC I think AOC believes everything she says.
And everything that comes out of her mouth is poop. You know what I'm saying? No. No doubt about it. It's it's malarkey. Like, Joe Biden says. Come on, man. Come on, man.
[00:24:08] Unknown:
No joke.
[00:24:10] Unknown:
Hey. They say they haven't seen him since he went into that, forest over there in the Amazon, Brazil.
[00:24:16] Unknown:
Well They they had Oh, he he was around London. That's a double, the one that came out He he last time. Well, you know, that well, either he or the double decided to start World War 3 before, before they leave office. So, you know Oh, that's probably him. Yeah. Well, yeah. I don't know, bro. I I just I'm confused. Anyways Now I know I know that you and I have spoken about this before and and, I'm sure you don't mind if I mentioned it, but, because you because your residency status here in the country, you're you're not allowed to vote in the elections and whatnot.
[00:24:47] Unknown:
Mhmm.
[00:24:48] Unknown:
But, you know, but had you have been able to vote and and I see you're wearing your, your Kamala Harris hat. So, you know, I can I can I know exactly now? You know? But, you know, I I mean, do you feel because because you can't take part in the elections yet. Right? Uh-huh. Do you feel kinda, like, helpless in a lot of this stuff when it comes to, you know, the direction the country's going?
[00:25:18] Unknown:
Well, I mean, not anymore. Because, the guy that I think should have won won. Mhmm. But in a sense, yeah, like, I would like to participate in the the the decision making. Yeah. And I have I have those times that I go into, you know, times where I'm like, man, nothing matters. Like, who cares? Who votes? You know, it's everything's gonna be the same and I mean, I still kinda have that attitude every once in a while and I I think it's right, I mean, in my opinion. But but but there is there is a significant difference between both parties now, you know, at least at least in the moral side of it.
You know, let let's say maybe not, you know, in in everything else or although there is, but more in the moral side of it. That that's that's what I do, You know, that that's how I think about it more in the moral side of it. Obviously, I care about the economy because I also go in, you know, go into Walmart and everywhere and purchase stuff. And, it's expensive. But To say the least. But, yeah, morally, I think, Democratic party is bankrupt and that that that plays a big role in the people. But going back to your question, yeah, I'd like to participate a little more. I'll tell you something, man. Bet you anything that if residents dude, I bet you anything that if illegal immigrants could vote, they would vote for Trump.
[00:26:40] Unknown:
Really? You think so?
[00:26:42] Unknown:
No. Really. I know a lot of illegal immigrants that like Trump. I hope nobody from, from, border patrol is anyways, I mean, you know what I'm saying? I'm telling you, man. I'm telling you. At least at least Mexicans, I I I don't wanna speak for for anybody else because, you know, because I'm, you know, I'm more of, I I get along I don't get along. I know more Mexicans than Honduras or whatever, you know, Salvadorans. I don't I don't know what they think. I'm pretty sure that they're kind of the same. But But at least for Mexicans, there's a lot of us that that want Trump to win. Mhmm. And I think you saw it on the election. I think it was 10% more on the side of men, Hispanic men, 10% more voted for Trump than the last time. You know, I might be a little off there, but I think it was 10%, and I think it was a total of what? 47, 48% of Hispanics voted for Trump? Yeah. It was 48%. Somewhere around there? 48%. That's that's a lot. It's almost half. Yeah. And actually, he's up he was up, I think,
[00:27:49] Unknown:
it was, like, 20 percentage points, if I'm not mistaken. From last time? Yeah. From the previous, election series, cycle. Yeah.
[00:27:58] Unknown:
One of the interesting things man. Illegal immigrants would vote for Trump.
[00:28:05] Unknown:
Mhmm. Maybe. Possibly. Possibly. Yeah. Uh-uh. The the problem is, though, is the Democrats, and of course, they're trying to purchase, you know, votes, you know, from from Right. Illegals coming across by promising them the world, you know, giving them all these I'm not saying let's do it. I'm just telling you that. No. No. No. I know what you mean. I I totally know what you mean. But, one of the one of the really interesting things that I, I've I've noticed, after this election cycle was how, Maverick County here, where I am, voted heavily red this this cycle.
59% of Maverick County voted red, which is which is amazing, but but then again, it also follows the trend. The last the previous two election cycles, it's gone up from 30 something percent to 40 something percent, now 59%. And the fact that that, that it went red all across this whole border region from, you know, Val Verde, That's true. Maverick County and so on and so forth. I mean, that that that it's in itself is a message that I think that, that that that folks are sending to the Democratic party. I mean, we do not want open borders. We do not want people just flooding through here. It's it's not only unsafe for, for the, for the illegal migrants coming through, but it's but you're jeopardizing the lives and the safety of United States citizens.
You're you're jeopardizing the life and safety of of of people who live in these border towns, you know. Totally right. You know, it's it's a Totally right. It's a horrendous thing when you hear the stories about, you know, like, I I know folks that are that work for border patrol. And, you know, they they they've told me stories about finding, you know, infants and babies and children, toddlers drowned, you know, in in in the Rio Grande. And that's horrible. You don't want that. The fault of that, even though even though, folks in in in authority blame you and me Yeah. For it, because we're so we're so heartless and so mean and we don't let these people come in. They're actually the ones that, that that are causing all of this by throwing those borders open up open like that. And, I was talking earlier with someone and and and made a very good point. You know?
The, the, the the the traffickers, the the the the coyotes that that are bringing peoples down to the border, they're just dropping them off. These folks don't know what what they're crossing into. They don't know the currents. They don't know how how deep portions of the river are. They they have no idea about these things, and they're just dropping them off. And they're saying, go. Go ahead. Go. Go. Go. And
[00:30:57] Unknown:
They don't care about these people, the coyotes. I'm telling you that they don't. I mean, I've heard stories. Oh, no. From very close people. You know, these people are sometimes kept in Mexico in a hotel Mhmm. You know, after the family has paid for for them to be brought to to the United States. And okay. Well, you know, now we have them. They're here in the hotel. They're pretty close to the river, but you have to give me 1,000 more dollars so that I can transport them here to the river and cross up, dude. Yeah. I'm telling you, they don't care. They're heartless people. They are. Yeah. They'll do anything for money, man. They they they don't care about who they're transporting because they already got the money. Most of the times you have to pay in advance.
You know what I'm saying? They they pay these people in advance, so it don't matter if somebody drowns. Who cares? Yeah. I mean, we care of no of course. No. But,

humanitarian wise, of course, we care about that. But, you know, it's Yeah. You know, but but to lay blame at the feed of the American people for not wanting illegals to come across is just is just absolutely wrong. It's the it I I lay the blame at at the feet of the federal government, you know. I I I and I and I wanna you know, I applaud, governor Abbott for what he's done as far as trying to secure the border. And I know that there are folks out there that say that, you know, he you know, he's just political grandstanding. He's just, trying to, you know, score points, you know, and, you know, the the 1,000,001 other excuses they give. But he's he's acting on behalf of his constituency. He's acting on behalf of the the of the citizens of Texas. He's acting acting acting on behalf of the folks that live along here on the border.
You know. Yeah. That's right. So I I I I applaud them for it.
[00:32:44] Unknown:
No. No. I'm I'm for it too, man. I and the majority of Texas and the United States had spoken, and they said that this is, you know, this is the way we wanna do it from now on. I mean, like you said at the beginning, Maverick County, you know, they voted what did what did you say? 58%.
[00:33:00] Unknown:
59%.
[00:33:01] Unknown:
59% of the entire county. What the what the percentage was here. And it I'm in Hidalgo County, but it's red when it was blue. Mhmm. I know that for sure. Webb County went red. Webb County, man, the the biggest count I think it's the biggest county in Texas, you know, granted maybe it's not the one with the most population, but it is the biggest county in Texas. Right. It's always done blue. It's always done blue. It's it's red now. You know, Laredo, that's where I'm from. It's red. It's people are tired of this. People are tired of the of the shenanigans from from the Democratic party, and we're not gonna take it anymore. It's dangerous.
Totally. I think it was 14,000 criminals came in, have come in. I think 13,000 rapists have come in, and those are the ones we know about. Yeah. Key key phrases actual numbers. We're not inventing them, man. We're not inventing these numbers. These are actual numbers. These are reported by Democrats and Republicans.
[00:34:06] Unknown:
January 20th, in 2020 or 2021, border patrol was getting about 200 encounters at the border, down over here. Yep. Exactly a year later, it was up to over 2,000 encounters a day. 200 a day, 2000 a
[00:34:28] Unknown:
day. That's it's I mean, I traveled, you know, I traveled the whole the whole, you know, border. Yep. And I would see it. Nobody has to tell me, oh, you know, no, it's not true. It's not. I've seen it with my own eyes, man. I mean, you well, you see it here in town. It it's,
[00:34:43] Unknown:
I Yeah. I yeah. There there's, there's a a a near where I live, there are 2 gas stations on each side of of of the road. And, how many times I'd be on my way into into work? And I would see, you know, folks just standing around, at the, these gas stations all, of course, holding those those identical, Manila envelopes, you know, waiting for, waiting for the, for a bus to come pick them up. And, then you see this unmarked white bus with the dark with the blacked out windows pull up and and they load up on the bus and boom, they're gone. Where are they going? You know, they're they're getting redistributed all around either Texas or they're or they're going to an airport and being flown, thank God, up north, you know. But Luxury hotels, debit cards. Yeah. Luxury hotels, debit cards,
[00:35:35] Unknown:
vehicles, transportation, you know, you name it. Yeah. Foods to everything. Top notch, dude. Top notch stuff they're getting, dude. Yeah. My Well, I don't know. In the meantime, you got a bunch of homeless out here. You know, I can't. Yeah. I mean, and the homeless thing is just another another deal, but some of these people are legitimately homeless, let's say. Right? They're legitimately homeless. Nobody's helping these guys.
[00:35:58] Unknown:
Who's helping them out? Nobody. All this money Nobody will be we All the money that's being diverted to these illegals and we have homeless veterans, men who served, this country. They put their lives on the line for this country are getting left on the streets, but yet we're giving illegals, debit cards with 3, 4, 5, $6,000 on it just for food, not including free free room and board, transportation expenses, sometimes in most cases, even even get them a car. My sister up in New York ran into that problem. She got into a vehicle accident with, with an illegal, who who had a vehicle with Texas license plates, I forget which state. It wasn't a Texas driver's license And the insured party wasn't even in Texas. It was another state. It was almost like you have 3 different states all in one individual.
And when the when the cops got there, they just let the guy go. They were like, nothing it's it's not worth it. Nothing's gonna happen. So just, you know and it's pathetic. Yeah. It is absolutely pathetic.
[00:37:01] Unknown:
Oh, yeah. So, Yeah, man. And and I I mean, I'm actually worried. And I'm usually not a guy that exaggerates stuff, man. But there was a time where I was worried about this stuff, man. I mean, I'm thinking about getting a firearm. I don't own a firearm. I have nothing against them. I just don't own none right now. And I think I talked to you about it. Yeah. And, you know, one for me and one for my wife because we would see these people around town, you know, just walking around and what are they doing because they ain't working, you know? What do you do with all that time off?
Exactly right. I mean, I'm not saying all of them, man. I mean, maybe even the majority are good people, but let's say 200,000, 10000 are are are bad people, that's still quite a lot of people. 10000 criminals, that's a lot of criminals. For sure. For sure.
[00:37:53] Unknown:
Did I did I ever tell you the story? I I I know I was I was telling, my friend George about it earlier or actually last night. About a year ago, I think it was, about a year ago, at 7 o'clock on a Saturday morning, there's somebody knocking on my door. And, I I go to the door and, you know, I I carry. I'm always carrying. And, I always, my my gun's never out too far out of reach. So I, of course, you know, somebody's knocking on my door at 7 o'clock on a Saturday morning. I ran over, you know, I picked up my weapon and I went by the went by the door, opened it up. And there was a guy out there and, you know, you you know, I'm not I'm not a a native Texan. I'm not a a native Eagle Passian. You know, I'm a transplant from from from up in New York. But, I've been here long enough to to be able to tell who's from here and who's not.
And this was definitely not somebody who's from here. And, he was offering me he he offered me 7 $1700 to, to rent my house. And, of course, I told him, no. It's it's, we're not not renting. I would have taken it, dude. The house and he and then he then he offers me $2,000. I would have rented it out, man. Sounds good. That's not bad. Well, if I had a place to go, yeah. Sure. Why not? I'll be Man, you know, you you can put your politics aside for something like that. I just I would. Well, yeah. I just I just renovated the house. What am I getting you know, what am I gonna, you know, let somebody else come in here? Just kidding, man. And wreck it. No. I know. I know. But, you know, so so he he finally even though I told him repeatedly, no. No. No. No. No.
He he didn't leave until he realized that I had a pistol on me, you know? Yeah. And, then he finally left. He finally left. So, you know, I mean, I I kinda kinda freaked me out a little bit and that's when I ran out and I and I bought all the Ring cameras that I have outside the house right now. And, you know, and I Well, you got you got that Venezuelan gang,
[00:39:47] Unknown:
you know, going around, taking over buildings and stuff. I don't know what their name is.
[00:39:52] Unknown:
Trendiagua or something like that?
[00:39:55] Unknown:
Yeah. Zendaya. Now it's train train it translates to train the and then I guess some town in their country or something. Maybe. I don't know. But anyways, I've heard about that one. I mean, I'm scared of that one, man. You know what I'm saying? Like, alright. You know, especially for my wife, you know, kids out there and stuff like that. It's just not good. It's not good. And I think I think, Trump can alleviate a little bit of that. You know, maybe he can't get it all done because he ain't perfect. But As long as he doesn't make it any worse, I'm good.
[00:40:34] Unknown:
Yeah. I know. I I do. Yeah. I I don't I honestly, I don't think that there it could get any worse than what it is right now. Yeah. It's pretty bad. You know, it it's this is pretty bad. But, you know, we we kind of been talking about, this all this political stuff, and it's, you know, it's just frustrating. It it truly, truly is. But, what I wanted to ask you about was, your TikTok fame, sir. So Oh, man. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And there there was actually something else that up. There's something else somebody asked you about too. Fame and fortune, but I know. But, you know, something it it's it's, you know, it's it's rare that I get somebody as famous and popular as you on on on the podcast. And, I'd imagine, man. You know, it's it's just doing you a favor here. I mean, I'm telling you, man. You know, this is like, you know, with one click of your button there, buddy, you're gonna you're gonna, you know, make me surpass Joe Rogan. You know what I mean? Look. I I Joe Rogan called me up and I said, Joe, you know,
[00:41:31] Unknown:
no, Joe. You're not I'm not going in, Joe. Kinda like a Trump thing. You know, I need I need to be over there with my buddy. I can't I can't say Trump. Joseph at, the podcast. In Eagle Pass. In Eagle Pass. I mean, people need me in Eagle Pass, bro.
[00:41:48] Unknown:
So sorry. That's, I you know what? There needs to be there needs to be a way to to, like, manufacture extra, Rubens and and just send them all around Yeah. Texas here. This way they could Hey, you know what? People are thinking about that now, man. Yeah. Yeah. Well, you know I got people wanting to clone me. Well, you know, it's it's been it's been a topic of conversation. But, you know, God said that, you know, after he made me, he broke the mold because he didn't wanna make the same mistake twice. So, you know, I'm kinda wondering if he says the same thing about you too there, buddy. Yeah. I know, man. God. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Well,
[00:42:25] Unknown:
He's told me not to say, but, you know. Oh, has he been talking to you? Maybe one of these days. Has he has he been talking to you? He talks to me. Yeah. He talks to me in dreams and dreams and every time I give a a every time I sow a seed of a $1,000.
[00:42:39] Unknown:
There you go. There you go. Or every time you post one of those flea market dance videos. Right?
[00:42:44] Unknown:
Oh, yeah. Especially.
[00:42:48] Unknown:
Hey. I had a bit of the flea market in a while, man. Like, really? I could go back. For the folks that are listening that don't understand what I'm talking about here, so, Ruben, why don't you throw out your TikTok handle?
[00:43:01] Unknown:
So my TikTok name or I guess account I don't know what to call it. It's el diabetes del RGV. El diabetes del RGV. You know, and and it I didn't use too much imagination. I got diabetes and I'm like, wow. I'm with diabetes, I guess, from the RJV.
[00:43:23] Unknown:
Rio Grande Valley, by the way. That's what it's called. I I was gonna ask you actually to to kind of explain where the name came from.
[00:43:30] Unknown:
Well, I mean, it just came from me being, like, always goofy and silly and really not taking things a little more serious because I didn't understand TikTok. I'm like, I'm just gonna goof around and name myself LDiabetes LRGB. And I did. And then all of a sudden You're diabetic from the valley. I started getting a bunch of people, man. And I mean, you know Well, they probably thought you were some kind of, like, a health,
[00:43:58] Unknown:
information
[00:43:59] Unknown:
Soft knife. Yeah. Oh, yeah. They probably they probably did. But, I mean, I I know you said any any hopefully, everybody knows that he's kidding when he says I'm I'm TikTok famous. But I got a few followers. I got a few 1,000. And, every once in a while somebody recognizes
[00:44:16] Unknown:
me. I have 10. You have a few 1,000. I have 10. Yeah. You're posting you're posting videos on, about dancers at a flea market, and you got tens you got thousands and thousands of of, of followers on TikTok. I'm pro I'm posting stuff that's bills broke. I'm posting stuff that's more meaningful than that, and I got 10. Yeah. So I wish I could do what you're doing, man. Really.
[00:44:40] Unknown:
But anyways, every once in a while, somebody somebody recognizes me like my mechanic. Get out of here. I didn't know he would recognize me. I took him in my car. He's like, hey. So I don't know. He asked me about a recent video I had uploaded. I think it was about the beach, this one or something. Okay. I'm like, how does the heck does this guy know? He's like, oh, I follow you, man. You're the diabetes. I'm like, I I hate to admit it, man, because it's so embarrassing, man. But you like it. Oh, no. That's the worst thing is, bro, when I go to, when I go to flea market so, you know, we've been going quite a lot, so now they know us. So they all announce, like, my name on the speaker right there, and they're like, oh, you know, welcome diabetes LRT.
And that's just oh my god, dude. That's so embarrassing. It just makes you wanna crawl into a rock. Shake up my hand and wave back, dude. The the waves of shame. Right? The head down. Yeah. That's me. Yes, man. I'm like, oh, no. Come on. Don't don't thanks for the thanks for the high, but I don't want it. I don't like that. I hate it. But yeah, man. I I like doing videos, like making videos. I don't have a niche on those videos, although you could say that for a while it was the dancers at the pulga. Mhmm. But, but I just like making different videos. I did stop making videos for a little bit. I haven't uploaded too much just because hey. You know, and and at the risk of sounding a little bit, liberal, there is a lot of hate in those. Mhmm. In in the in the medium and in the social medias. Man, it affects you, man. For those types of videos or just in general?
I mean, for anything, man. And you'll always have hate for anything, man. Anything. And and and, I mean, I post dancing videos and people are just, jeez, just go at you and at the people there and and I mean, nasty comments, dude. Granted, most of them are not, but there's quite a lot of them that are. You know. I've posted videos where I I like to post videos where I come out, you know, and it maybe show a video in the background or a picture or something like that. I I made a video and this video really got me thinking about if I should stop posting or not. Really? Which one? About this guy. It was a video and and I put it private already, dude, because it was just too much. It was too too much, like, several 1,000 comments and stuff like that, but it was doing great. It was a video about this guy that he's he's he's gonna have court, I think, next year.
He killed some people here in Texas. He was an immigrant guy. I think he's an illegal immigrant. He went into the house of these, Honduran people or Salvadorians, I don't know what what what they are. He's a Mexican guy and he started shooting shooting them and he killed he killed several women, several children, and I don't know if he killed any of the men. I I I do remember hearing about this. Yeah. Yeah. What's his name? I can't remember his name. So I, I saw a video of this lady that supports him in jail and takes takes takes money, gives him money in jail and it's it's this whole group of support that he has.
Okay? So I posted a video kinda giving my opinion that nobody asked me for, you know, but I still did it, you know, and I saw it as a little weird that somebody is is supporting a criminal like that. Right? Right. I just said it. It's my opinion, dude. You don't have to I'm not saying you have to have my own opinion. Agree. Man, well, I got I got threatened. You know, my life threatened there. Really? Mine and my family. Yeah. I got threats. I got really nasty, what you would call them, comments. I got called a racist. I got called I got called everything. And the the threatening was, like, the worst one. Right?
And, you know, I was like, man, this guy has more support than what I thought. It's That's wild. It's it's it's it's wild, man, that nowadays the culture, they they love criminals. It's their heroes. They are their heroes. And and I hate to admit it, but our Mexican culture does that. But now it's like an extreme. We've we've always looked up to, what you may call it, to bandits, you know, to, especially nowadays to drug dealers, landlord landlords. Yeah. Landlords too. I wanna be a landlord. But, anyways, what you call it, drug lords. Drug lords. I know what you meant. I mean, we make songs about them. You know? True. I mean, I listened to a few. You know? I like them. Yeah. But I I I don't idolize them. I don't wanna be like them. It's it's a bad life, you know, but all the morals are switched around. And that's why I was saying at the beginning, that's why I like Trump, You know? Because, I mean, it can't be possible that the good guys are the bad guys and the bad guys are the good guys Yeah. Or or are considered or looked upon as good guys. And people wanna imitate them and kids wanna imitate them. And they're on the news and they're on everything, dude. Sorry, I talked a lot. No. That's my TikTok thing, man. That's the whole thing, buddy.
But Yeah. So that and and I mean that video just after a while, man, I was like, oh, I was suffering because I'm like, man, I'm getting I'm getting a lot of, you know, people interacting with it, but it's just too much, man, you know, and and I I said, you know what, I can't take it anymore. And I couldn't keep myself from reading the darn comments, so I just put it in private. I still have it there, but I have it in private. I gotcha. I I I know what you mean about the comments and stuff. I mean, like I said, I don't have a lot of followers on TikTok or Instagram or anything like that or or x, Twitter, whatever.
[00:50:40] Unknown:
But, you know, and and in all fairness, I really don't post a lot. You know, I'm not on there all the time. I'm I I basically just kinda scroll through it a lot and just I I the only time I really make any kind of post is if it's something really just strikes me that I need to say something about or if, if I or if I'm doing something for for one of the podcasts. But, but, you know, on occasion, I'll do I will make some kind of a comment or I'll post something and I'll get some feedback. And I learned and I learned I I don't read the comments anymore. I I I really don't. I I I try to stay away from them. Right.
Because I'm not there to make an argument. I'm not there to fight with anybody. I'm I'm just there to say what I gotta say and move on. You know? And, it's hard. It's hard not to. I tried.
[00:51:28] Unknown:
It's hard.
[00:51:29] Unknown:
Yeah. I agree with you. It's hard it's hard not to say something,
[00:51:32] Unknown:
from time to time. And I've had other controversial videos too. But this was just just it was just they just took it to a whole another level. But you know what, man? I'm coming back with another one, baby. Here he goes. When he starts going into court. I need to pay, man. Yeah. No. Absolutely.
[00:51:49] Unknown:
Absolutely. But, so what's what's in the future there for you, buddy? I know I know at one point you were talking about doing a podcast.
[00:51:58] Unknown:
Yeah. Yeah. I I got several ideas for a podcast. I don't know, you know. I mean, it's just it's just hard with all the work I have and, I mean, you know, we know each other from work, so, you know, Joe knows all the stuff we do. I mean, he's very busy. I'm very busy too. It's difficult. But I had, I actually did one video. I opened up a a YouTube channel. I don't know if I send it to you. I might have. But it's a it's, I was gonna go into ranting about Calvinism.
[00:52:34] Unknown:
Oh, yes. She's talking to you. You told me about it. Yeah. Yeah.
[00:52:37] Unknown:
Yeah. Yeah. So I did open the channel. It's it's in Spanish though. You know, I I like doing stuff in Spanish because, because, you know, I I I suck at speaking it sometimes, but, you know,
[00:52:50] Unknown:
I do better than I do. Feel that sometimes.
[00:52:54] Unknown:
Sometimes the Hispanic community doesn't know a lot of the stuff that's happening in the American side of it Mhmm. Or the good things or the bad things. And, you know, we we get we get those kind of news, like, very, very late. That I I wanna be like a little bridge in between there, you know. Hey. You guys haven't heard of this, but watch out. This is coming your way, man, in a year or 2. You know what I'm saying? Yeah. So anyways, I I do that. Calvin is something in in Spanish. It's called It's in other words, verse and context Mhmm. Or context and verse, however you would say it. And, I just ranted a little bit about Calvinism. I I I don't like Calvinism.
I don't know if you can hear it in my voice. Yes. There's that slight slight disdain that Dislike. That we're making up for it. Yeah, man. I anytime I say that, then I wanna puke, man. But,
[00:53:44] Unknown:
Yeah. Well, I I am no Calvinist, sir. Far far far from it. But, I did wanna ask you something too, and it just kinda flipped out of my mind. She's sorry. But no. It's okay. No. It's fine. It'll come back. It's been a it's been a Too much? No. No. It's been a long day. Let's put it that way. Oh, yeah. It was But, you know, I know you do your videos and stuff, and and I know how busy you are and and and and all. But, with the amount of work that you have, where do you find time to do these videos? That's the question.
[00:54:18] Unknown:
Well, that's why I haven't fixed your your stove.
[00:54:22] Unknown:
No. It's fixed. It's That's why you still that's why you still have that h back down. That's why it it took a year for it to to get parts for a stove. Yeah. It's exactly Yeah. There you go. There you go. But, I I remember dealing with the videos. I remember what I was gonna tell you. So talking about doing podcasts. So, I I listened to other podcasts and, one of the Yeah. 22 podcasts that I listen to, regularly, which are great, by the way, if you're if you're interested in checking this stuff out, is a podcast called, No Agenda. Alright. It's it's put out by, I don't know if you remember Adam Curry from MTV fame, but he's also known as the Podfather. He's the the creator of podcasts.
[00:55:04] Unknown:
And sounds that rings a name. I probably seen it. Yeah.
[00:55:07] Unknown:
Like MTV news and all that stuff back in the day when MTV was MTV. And then, another podcast out there is called Podcasting 2.0. 2 great podcasts about podcasts and and news, current events, and so on and so forth. Another good podcast too, by the way, is, my friend Barry puts it out. It's a podcast called About too, by the way, is, my friend Barry puts it out. It's a podcast called About Podcasting and talks with different hosts, you know, across the spectrum of podcast. Really good stuff. So check out check those out. Those those are really great. But I might have to check it out, man. No. You should. For sure. For sure. I'll I'll send you links to it along the way. But, the the one of the things that they were talking about is the the latest trend in podcast that are really that there that more folks are starting to do and it's it's and and it's really been very successful, with podcasting is that they do local podcasts.
So they do a podcast a podcast that's that focuses focuses on a specific area. Like, for example, there's a podcast out there called called Pod Angeles. It's all about things going on in Los Angeles. Here here in Texas, there's one, what's it called? It's called the, where is it? It's called Central Texas Events. And and all it is is all about the different things going on in in in in Central Texas. There's another podcast out there, what's the name of it? I think it's called Now You Know or something like that, where they talk about, local politics down in the in the South Texas area.
So that might be something, you know, for you to to look into. Oh, yeah. Maybe get some ideas from there. Yeah. But not only that though, but to do a podcast in your area about stuff like that. Right. Local things. And in in a in a indirectly kinda in an indirect kinda way, I'm trying to do that with this podcast. Yeah. That, you know, we're gonna we're gonna, you know, focus on a lot of local things, but, you know, we're also gonna talk about state issues and and and, federal issues and, and it's not always gonna be politics. It's gonna be a wide range of subjects. So, you know, the the trend the last couple of shows we did is has been political. The first one the first interview that I did was all about podcasting and and, you know, and and and things like that. So it it's
[00:57:31] Unknown:
like I said, one of the one of the main trends right now is these local podcasts, and so you should look into that, you know. I mean, I think you have a lot of material in your in your area. I mean, we do too over here. Well, sure. But I've been to your town, man. It's just you got a lot too. There's a lot of stuff going on here. Unfortunately, a lot of politics stuff, but, yeah, I mean, you you need to go into the Kickapoo Casino or something.
[00:57:54] Unknown:
Yeah. No casinos for me, man. But, the, you know, it it's it's it's one of those things like, this area, Eagle Pass is growing, you know, since I've been here. I'll be here almost 8 years already. And, Wow. Since since I've gotten here, the the changes that I've seen, the growth of Eagle Pass has has just been phenomenal. And, of course, with all of the political attention because of the border and and and whatnot, there's a lot of attention coming on Eagle. People wanna know what's going on here. And and so we're gonna do our very best with this podcast here to bring that That's gonna be awesome, dude. So we'll yeah. We'll see how it goes. I do have some calls coming up with some some local folks and see what we can get get moving along here. Yes, sir? I'm I'm wondering what what
[00:58:42] Unknown:
you know, I'm not interviewing you, but what do you like about Texas, man? I don't think you've ever told me. What do I like about Texas? What do I love? Yeah. What do you mean that I don't wanna put you on the spot, maybe you haven't thought about it. Sure I have. But, is there something, you know, hey, you know, we didn't have this in New York. I don't care where it is. If it's if it's a culture, if it's in restaurant, if it's food, if it's whatever it is. No. It's it's a it's a it's a little thing called freedom.
[00:59:10] Unknown:
Yeah. Yeah. That that's what it is. It's it's that it's that that that that, you know, unoppressive police state feeling that you get. You know, it's like, again, you know, I'm from New York. So anywhere you go in New York, you have every almost every light pole has an NYPD surveillance camera on you. They have cameras on the red lights. They have cameras on stop signs. They have cameras on the poles. They have, you know you know, it's it is so heavily regulated. You know, if if you fart in the wrong way, you know, you can expect a fine to get dropped off in the mail, you know. I don't know if you ever saw, what was that movie, where Sylvester Stallone played a cop and he he gets arrest he gets convicted of a crime and they they deep freeze him and they thaw him out later on. Is that demolition man or something like that?
And then, yeah. I think so. And every time he says a curse word or something like that, you know, John Spartan, you were fine for the violation of you know. Kinda like that? Yeah. That that's basically what it feels like, you know. To E. Smyth. You know, you you can't own a firearm in New York City. I mean, you can, but you have to have extenuating circumstances to to own a firearm in New York City. You have to be transporting, I forget the dollar amount on a daily basis. We have to be some kind of like a jewel merchant, and even and even if you do manage somehow to get a a a permit, all you get what they call a premise permit with a target endorsement, which means that you can have you can have a firearm in your home, but you can't take it out unless you're transporting it to and from, a a target a range, and when it's in your home or being in transit, it has to be completely disassembled, separate from all the ammunition.
So, you know, and and then they charge you That defeats the purpose. Totally. Totally defeats it. And then on on top of that, you know, the the the fees, the licensing, the requirements in order to get a permit in New York is just is just prohibitive. Totally prohibitive. I know that's that's a minor that might be a minor thing to a lot of people, but to other people that's that's important. The the right and the ability to defend yourself. Plus, you know, New York is is just ridiculously expensive. And I mean I mean I know it's expensive everywhere right now especially even here in even here in Eagle Pass. It's it's, you know, went to HEB the other day and spent, spent a 150 to a 150 6 and change.
And I had I had 3 3 bags with, like, barely the basics just to just to fill the fridge. And it and even that didn't fill the fridge, you know.
[01:01:51] Unknown:
We go to a place called Sprouts and, you you if you want a bag, a grocery bag, it's 10¢. That's
[01:02:00] Unknown:
crazy.
[01:02:02] Unknown:
That's crazy. That is absolutely like, no. I don't need a stupid bag. Yeah. Hold on one second. And it's expensive, you know, everywhere.
[01:02:12] Unknown:
So so yeah. So, you know, the cost of living is just ridiculously high, especially up there in New York. It it it it that that's that's why I love Texas. I I love I love the space that that you get here in Texas. I love the freedom that you have in Texas. I I just love all of that. And, it's just, it's it's a blessing to be here and I I couldn't think, of any other place in the world that I'd wanna live, to be quite honest. So but listen, bro. We're That's the best place in the world, man. It is. It is. And that's why Texas will Texas will rise again. We will be a free and independent country once again. But, I think, bro, we're we're having problems here with the with the,
[01:02:56] Unknown:
United States of America. I didn't say that. Hey, secessionist right here.
[01:03:01] Unknown:
Tex it.
[01:03:02] Unknown:
Tex it. Tex it. I love Texas too. I don't know if I would go that far, but yes.
