Hey, folks. Welcome to the podcast. This is Joe Rusciello, and it is great to be with you once again on this beautiful, beautiful Monday morning in America. And as always, we are live at the asylum studios broadcasting from the pimple on the backside of Texas, the beautiful city of Eagle Pass doing the very best that we can to bring you the best quality talk radio that we can muster without all the bluster. It is Monday, January 27, 2025, and Donald j Trump is president of the United States. Happy Monday, folks, and I hope you guys had a great, great week.
It has been an incredible week here in these United States. Last week, we saw president Trump sworn in as the 47th president of the United States. And, if you I don't know how you could not be paying attention to this, but have you noticed the flurry of activity that's been going on ever since? It is nonstop. You see, this is what it looks like when you actually have a president in the oval office that is working on behalf of the country. This is what it looks like. This man doesn't rest. I think he gets, like, 3, 4, 5 hours of sleep, maybe the most on a given night.
This man is constantly working, whether it was, from the inauguration to all the all, of course, you know, the celebrations that are customary for that. And you can't fault him for it. That's custom. Every every president goes through all that stuff. But from from there to addressing the wildfires in in in California to North Carolina, if they're visiting Florida, to, to to to doing it, the speech over in Davos, which I know was was, was a video message that he that he connected with. But, but to do that and then also to take live questions, you know, from those folks over in Davos, right after his his message there. Could you imagine?
I don't know if you saw it or not, but it was unbelievable. I watched the whole thing. I watched I watched his address to, to the folks over there and, the World Economic Forum and and, in taking those questions live. And I mean, can you imagine just just think if if Joe Biden was still your president or even worse, Kamala Harris. I I I can't even fathom where we would be today because if you heard some of the things that that, president Trump talked about, I mean, he showed who was boss without a doubt without a doubt. And, he actually, even put the, the CEO of Bank of America on the spot in front of the world, basically, and, let him know that the United States is not gonna be pushed around. It's not gonna be bullied. It's not going to to take a second seat to anyone else. It's an America first agenda, and that's the, and that's the position that that Donald Trump has made very, very clear. And, we're gonna talk about that in a little bit. We actually have some audio from it.
Kind of a short clip, but enough to get for you to get to get the idea of what we're talking about. And then, of course, you know, just pardoning the j 6, quote, unquote, insurrectionist because we know that that's a lot of BS. We know that it was a federal setup. We know pretty it's it's pretty obvious. But pardon the j 6, pardoning the the pro life folks that were incarcerated and targeted by the the Biden DOJ, just so many things have been going on. And even even just a few moments ago, you know, the deportation flights had started this week, and, just, you know, earlier today, the, president of of Colombia, refused to allow the, the transports to to land in Colombia with the Colombian, illegal migrants.
And, Donald Trump was quick. Came right out. Let him know what the penalties for not cooperating is gonna be. And wouldn't you know it? As soon as those were announced, all of a sudden now the the, Colombian government is sending the Colombian presidential plane, to pick up these illegals and bring them back to Colombia. But, we'll we'll get into that also a little bit later on. That just happened not too long ago, so I don't really have any audio for you. But it was, just unbelievable events going on, here, since Donald Trump has, come into office. Now, before we get into the rest of the show here, I just wanna, you know, let you know we don't have any guests lined up, for this week. So you're gonna be stuck with me, for today's show, which is gonna be interesting because, this is you know, we've done 7 shows and, with with this new project, and, we've had guests guests on all of them. So you don't really get a chance to spend any time with me per se. But, we're gonna do that today. So so I hope you don't mind. I hope you stick around. We're gonna have a a few things to talk about. We're gonna go get into some of the headlines, and, we got some audio for you. And then, hopefully, next week, as long as schedules permit, we're gonna have, the, Eagle Pass mayoral candidate, Aaron Valdez, join us here in the studio once again. Now, I I've corrected the way I'm saying I'm saying his name because I've I've discovered that I've been saying it wrong.
You know, look. I'm I'm a New Yorker. You know, I'm I'm a thick head Sicilian from New York, and, you know, when I see a a r o n, I pronounce it Aaron. But here, it's Aron. So, so I apologize, to to, to Aaron, and, we look forward to having him here in the studio once again, next week. So hopefully, you'll be able to listen into that. And I hope that you enjoyed that conversation that we had with him, just a couple of weeks ago. And, you know, we're looking forward to, you know, expanding more on his on his vision for, for Eagle Pass coming down the road. And, I don't know if there's a very good possibility we might actually do a a live show for you, special live show on that Saturday.
So you gotta stick with us, and we'll let you know. Now, of course, I just wanna say, you know, in full disclosure here, we have reached out to his opponent, Mary j Crews. I'm sorry. Mary j Crews. I'm sorry. It's Monica j Crews. I don't know why I keep saying Mary. But Monica j Cruz, we've, extended an invitation to, biz Cruz, for her to come on the show, but, they have not responded to us, in the affirmative. So, you know, the invitation's there. It's on the table. She's welcome to come on the show anytime that she's ready, as is any other candidate. Alright, folks. Welcome back to the podcast. This is Joe Rusciello. Got a lot of things to talk about. A lot of bits here in the news. A lot of things happening as the show is developing here today. Now as you guys know, we record this show and then we run it as a live show on on Monday. And, as as of the time of the recording of the show here, we have, a lot of interesting things going on. Again, I mentioned earlier about the president of Colombia, now, offering to use the presidential plane to transport migrants back to Colombia. So, that's exciting. We're we big, big turnaround there. And, let's see what we have here. Columbia leader quickly caves after Trump threats, offers presidential plane for deportation flights.
Let's see. Colombian president Gustavo Petro offered his presidential plane to repatriate migrants coming back from the US on Sunday in response to stern warnings made by president Donald Trump. Move came after Trump hit the South American country with retaliatory measures in response to Petro's refusal to accept deportation flight. A former member of the M 19, which was a Marxist guerrilla terrorist group that killed 100, Petro caved in to Trump's demands with remarkable speed. Trump told Fox News Petro did a total about face after his tariff threat. So, the government of Colombia under the direction of president Gustavo Petro has arranged the presidential plane to facilitate the dignified return of compatriots who are going to arrive in the country today in the morning coming from deportation flights, said the translated statement.
Alright. So what did, what did Donald Trump do? Well, he he said he would raise raise tariffs, 25% on all goods coming in from from from Colombia. Not that we have much that we get from Colombia except maybe some some coffee beans and cocaine. But then the, the tariff would increase to 50% after a week. You also, president Trump also ordered a travel ban and visa revocations on all Colombian government officials, plus their allies and supporters, and then said that these measures are just the beginning. And, of course, you know, Donald Trump went on to say, we will not allow the Colombian government to violate its legal obligations with regard to acceptance and return of criminals they forced into the United States.
So very, very quickly, very, very quickly, we see how, Donald Trump handles these situations. And then, you know, when you think about it, you you you talk about Colombia. Alright? Not really much of a threat to the United States, militarily, economically, and so forth. Now if you see how how how how harsh, if I can use that word or or how how firm, I should say, maybe is a better way to put it, the response was, could you imagine what negotiations are gonna be with countries like China and Russia, when when the time comes? I I mean, I I would not I I would love to be a fly on the wall just so I can hear the conversations firsthand in these negotiations. But but an amazing turnaround, of course, that's the Trump effect. You know? That's that's, that's an American leader not being bullied, not being pushed around, and then America not caving and, you know, basically sticking our tail between our legs saying, okay. Whatever you want.
It's not it this is this is gonna be an amazing an amazing 2 years. And I say 2 years because, you know, we do have midterms, and, you know, anything can happen in the midterms. So we're we're, you know, I know it's a 4 year term, but, we really have 2 years to get a lot of this stuff done, a lot of things straightened out. So, this is a great way to start. So, so bravo. Bravo there to mister president. Alright. Let's see. So we got a few things here that we're not we're talking about. Everything that's been going on here in the first, only the 1st week. Can you believe that? Just the 1st week alone.
So we've had so far, we've had, some some appointments. We've had, a CIA director appointed, John Ratcliffe, which I I like what he what he's done so far. You know, as soon as coming in to, into his into his position. He he revoked, security clearances for John Brennan and and several others. You know, basically cleaned house, shut down the DEI offices, sent them home, and, you know, just a lot of stuff. But what concerns me though is that, you know, he had a a unanimous vote. Alright? Now that's that's what I it's what I find disturbing because, as someone else has has very, aptly said, you know, you you measure you you measure the effect effectiveness of the choices, by the response from the left.
And, you know, to get a unanimous vote on, John Ratcliffe kinda you know, it makes me worry a little bit. But, you know, we're gonna we're gonna trust gonna trust the, trust the plan as they used to say. Right? Trust the plan. But, from but from what we've seen so far, that's this is this is really good. He's done he's done really good. Then you compare that to the to the response that we got with with, now secretary of defense, Pete Hegseth, and you can understand. You you you see what I mean? The, the pushback that, you received on, Pete Hegseth, not only from the from the Democrats, but also from some some Republicans.
You know, there were 3 Republican holdouts in the vote for, for mister Hegseth. And, you know, that's, that that's that's very telling. It's very interesting. Alright? But, so, the let's see. McConnell voted no on Hegseth, as the Pentagon head forcing JD Vance, to do the tie breaker. So, Mitch McConnell, the turtle, was one of 3 Republicans to vote on Friday against Pete Hegseth, who was narrowly confirmed as defense secretary in the new Trump administration. The other Republican no votes came from moderates. I wouldn't even call them moderates. I I really wouldn't. Lisa Murkowski, from Alaska and Susan Collins from Maine, which then forced JD Vance, the vice president, to break the 5050 tie to confirm president Donald Trump's choice to lead the Pentagon, and here was that moment.
[00:26:14] Unknown:
To vote or change a vote. If not, on this vote, the yeas are 50 and the nays are 50. The senate being equally divided, the vice president votes in the affirmative, and the nomination is confirmed.
[00:26:32] Unknown:
Alright. So, JD Vance there, breaking the tie vote, being the 51st vote, and the first time that that he had the opportunity to do that. Alright? And then, you know, Pete Hegseth himself,
[00:26:48] Unknown:
went on later to, make some statements. I wanna thank the president of United States, our commander in chief, Donald Trump. We could not have a better commander in chief than him. It is the honor of a lifetime, sir, to serve under you. We look forward to having the backs of our troops and having your back in executing peace through strength, in putting America first, and in rebuilding our military.
[00:27:16] Unknown:
Then then he went on to stay, to, he had a message for the, for the troops, for the warriors. And he said that, he began his message by calling it the privilege of a lifetime to lead the warriors of the Department of Defense under the leadership of our commander in chief Donald Trump. We will put America first, and we will never back down. He then went and promised, we will revive the warrior ethos and restore trust in our military. We are American warriors. We will defend our country. Our standards will be high, uncompromising, and clear. The strength of our military is our unity and our shared purpose.
Now this is important because, if you're if you recall under, under Lloyd Austin, the the the man that, that Joe Biden only referred to as the black man, isn't that ridiculous? He didn't even know his own secretary of defense's name. Alright? But we'll call him AWOL Austin instead of the black man. Okay? How about that? I mean, don't forget. We're not we're not a politically correct show. We're gonna say it as it is, but, you know, out of out of respect, we'll we'll just refer to him as AWOL Austin. And those of you who know, know. Alright. So, over, Lloyd Austin's tenure as the secretary of defense, you know, there were lower standards, Those and those lower standards on physical fitness and and and focus on DEI and and, focusing on, you know, you know, transgenderism and and and and all of that liberal nonsense that, that that that that just totally weakened our military.
It weakened the military readiness. I mean, Pete Hegseth went right after it. He, criticized the woke DEI hiring and the promotion policy of the past. He went on. He said, quote, we will rebuild our military by matching threats to capabilities. This means reviving our defense industrial base, reforming our acquisition process, passing a financial audit, which, by the way, is one of the things that, that the senators, in the confirmation hearings were talking about. 2 organizations that, that, Secretary of Defense HACCP now, was was leading at one point, had issues with finances and so on and so forth without realizing or maybe they do realize that they just tried to hide it and that, the, the Pentagon itself, defense department has not passed an audit in, 7 years, I think it was. It might be more than that, but, 7. Yeah. No. 7 years. 7 straight audits.
He's he went on to say that, passing a financial audit and rapidly filling emergency emerging technologies, we will remain the strongest and most lethal lethal force in the world. We will reestablish deterrence by defending our homeland on the ground and in the sky. We will work with allies and partners to deter aggression in the Indo Pacific by communist China as well as supporting the president's priority to end wars responsibly and reorient to key threats. We will stand by our allies and our enemies are on notice. All of this will be done with a focus on lethality, meritocracy, accountability, and readiness.
That's what you need at the Department of Defense. That is what you need. And then, you know, later on, the they they caught up with president Trump who was, in California at the time, and they, know, they asked him the question. They talked about how, the confirmation hearings went. Of course, you know, President Trump was gracious with, acknowledging the fact that's that Pete Hegseth was, appointed. And, then then he was asked if he if what he thought about, Mitch McConnell, not, casting his vote for, for Pete Hegseth. And, this is where you have to love Trump. This is why you have to love him. This is the attitude that we need that that the country needs right now, especially coming out of, the Joe Biden era. This is this was the response.
[00:31:27] Unknown:
Are you disappointed that McConnell voted no?
[00:31:30] Unknown:
I didn't even know that. No. I don't know that. I I just heard that we won. Winning is what matters. Right?
[00:31:37] Unknown:
That's exactly what matters. Winning is what matters. That's your president, folks. That's your president. In addition to, to Pete Hegseth, we had, Christy Noem, confirmed as a DHS secretary, which of course is a is a huge, huge upgrade from, Mayorkas. So and the senate voted on Saturday to confirm Noam as the secretary of homeland security, by a 5934 vote. Let's see. The occasionally sent the the article I'm looking at right here from PJ Media says occasionally the sensible John Fetterman, DPA, voted for the nominee. Now there's a now, there's a very real chance that the southern border will be secured and that the government will take more realistic approach to national security than it ever came close to doing during the long 4 years of old Joe Biden's misrule.
During her confirmation hearings last week, Noam, who has been the governor of South Dakota since 2019, declared, quote, I was the 1st governor to send National Guard troops to Texas when they were being overwhelmed by an unprecedented border crisis. If confirmed as secretary, I will ensure that our exceptional and extraordinary border patrol, Now we lost a part of a part of a report there. Alright. At a hearing 3 days before president Trump took office, senator Josh Hawley, asked Noam if she thought the border was secure. Hawley was not asking Noam to simply affirm the obvious. He was also indirectly calling attention to the outrageous lie that Mayorkas, old Joe Biden's DHS secretary, told back in July 2022, where he said, look. The border's open, and the border is the border is not open. It is closed, and it is secure.
Mayorkas claimed even May Mayorkas claimed that even as as hordes of illegal as illegal migrants were strolling into the country unimpeded. We're working to make the border more secure. That has been a historic challenge. Now, of course, Christy Noem's response was just plain out, plain truth, really. She said, senator, no no. The southern border is not secure today. But in just 3 days, we'll have a new president in this country, Donald j Trump, and he will secure our border. And in the week since, he's already moved decisively to do so as well as apprehend and deport massive numbers of illegal migrants that Old Joe brought into the country. Now, of course, she did, in fact, keep her word.
After being confirmed, we have, the United States Marines have been deployed to, to the to the southern border. They're they were sent out there to El Paso, to to help to work with the border patrol to keep that border secure. So great, great things coming down the road. And, of course, you know, you have the, the CBP one app that, that she mentioned, that had been shut down by president Trump on day 1. And, this is, let me see where is that. I don't think I have that clip. No. Unfortunately, I don't have that clip. We had a clip of a of a lieutenant, from from, from, Texas DPS talking about how quickly, the border encounters have declined as, after the CBP one app was shut down. So I apologize for not having that clip, readily available.
Strange because I do remember clipping it, but that's okay. Let's see. What else we got here? So Christy Noem confirmed as DHS secretary. Let's see. How about this? We're talking about Davos earlier. Alright? The Bank of America. Let's see. How about this?
[00:35:45] Unknown:
A little bit of a long clip, but I'm Janae Bowens in Washington with a look at why president Trump is accusing certain banks of discrimination against conservatives. This is a Davos. Donald Trump is putting Bank of America and JPMorgan Chase on full blast. Many conservatives complain that the banks are not allowing them to do business within the bank. On Thursday, at the World Economic Forum, he accused the banks of discrimination against conservatives.
[00:36:12] Unknown:
I don't know if the regulators mandated that because of Biden or what, but you and Jamie and everybody, I hope you're gonna open your banks to conservatives because what you're doing is wrong. Bank of America responded on x saying, we welcome conservatives.
[00:36:26] Unknown:
We would never close accounts for political reasons and don't have a political litmus test. And JPMorgan Chase sent me a statement denying the allegations, saying in part, we follow the law and guidance from our regulators and have long said there are problems with the current framework. Conservatives are firing back on x with receipts of alleged mistreatment. Organizations such as the National Committee For Religious Freedom, the Indigenous Advanced Ministries, and the Timothy 2 Project International.
[00:36:55] Unknown:
Businessman Mark Andreessen talked about debaking on the Joe Rogan experience in November. I mean, David Hurwitz is a right wing. You know, he's pro Trump. I mean, he said all kinds of things, you know. He's been very anti Islamic terrorism. He's been very worried about immigration,
[00:37:07] Unknown:
all these things. And they de banked him for that? They de banked him. So you get kicked out you get kicked out of your bank account. You get you get kicked out of the you can't do credit card transactions. But Jamie Dimon, the CEO of JPMorgan Chase says it's the Bank Secrecy Act. The law requires banks to identify and flag activity that could suggest criminal behavior like drug trafficking or terrorism financing
[00:37:28] Unknown:
and to assess the risks and act accordingly. But where Mark is right is always examples where they put a lot of pressure on us and they tell us what's high risk. And if we don't debank someone and something goes wrong, we could pay 100 of $1,000,000 of fines. With de banking in the spotlight, conservatives are calling on the Trump administration
[00:37:47] Unknown:
to do a full investigation. I'm Janae Bowens reporting.
[00:37:51] Unknown:
So and that's what I find, really funny is is that, how quickly they try to to spin this and and and and try to shift the blame, you know, on to regulations and regulators and and so on. When in actuality, those decisions are made at the CEO level, the board, so on and so forth. And I do remember, it didn't affect me at all, but, but I do remember, I think Tucker Carlson actually had something to say about it. Tucker Carlson revealed that the Bank of America was flagging the purchasing history of its customers and sending it to the federal government in order to find out if they were involved in the capital riot. The feds later interrogated a customer who was cleared, of any wrongdoing.
Then we had a gentleman by the name of, doctor John Eastman, posted on on his x account, an actual screenshot of, the cancellation letter. He says, so why pray tell you to cancel my and my wife's accounts after I had been a customer for nearly 40 years? And why did you refuse to tell me why? And then he shows the cancellation letters. So, you know, the, conservatives whose bank accounts were with Bank of America were canceled without explanation. And and, you know, including, again, John John Eastman, a former Trump attorney who'd been a defendant in some cases related to 2020 election. So it did happen. It was going on. No matter how many times these these folks would be, denying that it took place, It actually took place, and here it is. You got the receipts right here.
Everything is there. The Internet is forever, unfortunately, for a lot of things. But, so, I mean, this is how you do it. This is a boss. This is how I mean, Donald Trump put the CEO of this bank on the spot in front of the entire world to see. So it's, it's it's been just an amazing an amazing week so far. And then what about what what about what's going on over there in California? Of course, you know, they're talking about the fires, the the, you know, quote unquote climate change. Well, it's interesting how climate change is, like, they they they've arrested 25 people. I think, it was 25 people that that are, that are being charged with suspected arson, you know, starting these fires. But it's climate change.
Climate change has has a face, you know, and those face are 25 people that are out there doing that. So here's, here's Donald Trump, talking with the, mayor of, Los Angeles, and and let me just give you the the setup here. So Donald Trump is is is visiting Los Angeles. They're at they're at this, this press conference. And, and and this is so important because, you know, you'll you'll see and you'll see what I'm saying, and I'll I'll stop it at that point and point it out to you just in case you miss it. But, but they actually get into a little bit of a, I don't wanna say an argument, but, just a bit of a back and forth over timing. Of course, you know, California, one of the most heavily regulated states in the union, you know, permit processes and and and so on and so all this nonsense trying to keep people out of their properties for up to 18 months, but
[00:41:01] Unknown:
our president wasn't having it. Also, on tariffs, I often agree with you on tariffs, but how about no tariffs on building materials for the next 3 years? Well, we'll take a look at that, actually. Mister president look. Mayor, please. Yes. First of all, let me just take the opportunity to officially welcome you to Los Angeles.
[00:41:19] Unknown:
Really appreciate you coming, and especially you come just a few days after your inauguration. So Thank you very much. Want you to know that your presence here is very much appreciated. Let me also say that I know you had an opportunity to see the devastation. You've seen the extreme loss, the grief that people are going through here, and we are a 100% committed to getting this neighborhood rebuilt again. You mentioned a couple of things in terms of, us expediting. So I signed executive directives right away so that we could cut the red tape. We could get people back building, as fast as possible, and we're gonna continue doing that. Yeah. The one thing is they are saying they will not be allowed to start for 18 months. No. That will not be the case. Okay. I just hope that that You can hold me to it. There's 4 groups said that. No. That would be a if they should be able to do it they should be able to start tonight. That will not be the case. You know first, we have to take care, to make sure that there's not the getting rid of the hazardous waste, cleaning things up so that people can start right away. And just like you said, if somebody had their house was destroyed and they're gonna rebuild essentially the same, maybe a little bit longer, a little bit higher, they really shouldn't have to go through much of a process. So I want you to know that we are expediting that. We absolutely need your help. We need the federal help. You're a fill got it. I told you. We you will have no permit problem. There will be zero delay.
[00:42:45] Unknown:
And as far as I'm concerned, you already have the permits. And
[00:42:49] Unknown:
and the resource. I am more worried
[00:42:52] Unknown:
because I met I met at least 8 groups of, of homeowners, and, you know, I'm much more worried about the fact that they said it's 18 months exactly, and they were devastated. They wanna start now. They wanna start removing things. They're not allowed to do it now. And you mentioned hazardous waste. Well, the the hazardous waste. What's hazardous waste? I mean, you're gonna have to See, this is because you have a builder. Donald Trump is a builder, so he understands these things. To find that. We're gonna go through a whole, series of questions on determining what's hazardous? Nope. Nope. Nope. Nope. Think you have to allow the people to go on their site and start the process tonight.
[00:43:31] Unknown:
And we will. Okay. Good. You can just go back and check.
[00:43:35] Unknown:
Alright. So you and that's that's a leadership right there. That's he was they they should be out there tonight to get started on clearing out their property. Because, you know, what are they gonna do? They're gonna they're gonna permit out to a contractor. The contractor's gonna come in, gonna charge them, like, $25,000 to clear their lot, when these folks are ready to get in there right now. And, there's really no no reason for them to be held back from doing that. But again, because of politics and because of the heavy regulation that takes place in California, you know, these things are unnecessarily slow, dragged out, and, just a big delay and wasting time. Wasting time. But, thank god we have a man like Donald Trump in in office right now who who is demonstrating what real leadership is in these crisis situations. So it's it's it's this is folks, I I don't I don't know.
I don't have the right words to describe how how exciting it is to see the government working for the people. That's what it's all about. If you had, sleepy Joe sitting over there, it would be another story altogether. If you had the cackling commie from California sitting over there, Kamala Harris, it would be another, you know, just just just the status quo. Just just delay delay delay putting putting, putting illegal immigrants first, putting, the they talk about equity, which is not the same thing as equality, you know, dividing out the you know, based upon your your skin color and folks.
It none of that works. None of that works. All that does is divide people more, divide people more, and divide people more. Alright. One last thing before we, take a little break here. This is kind of a little bit more of a lighthearted story here. I don't know how many people saw this, but, what do you think about Trump 2028? Trump 2028, anybody? Well, it'd be great, wouldn't it? Of course. Well, you would hope anyway. You would think it would be great, but, but there's actually a GOP lawmaker who's looking to make this a, a possibility.
He's, he's proposing a constitutional amendment for a potential third term. Republican congressman, introduced a proposed amendment to the United States Constitution that could pave the way for president Donald Trump to potentially serve a third term in the White House. Representative Andy Ogles, rep, a Republican from Tennessee, announced the amendment stating it would allow a 2 term president to serve a 3rd term if the terms were nonconsecutive. Okay? So let's see. Ogles argued Ogles argued the changes necessary to ensure the country can benefit from what he called bold leadership during times of crisis. President Trump's decisive leadership stands in stark contrast to the chaos suffering and economic decline Americans have endured over the past 4 years, Ogle said in the statement on Thursday. He has proven himself to be the only figure in modern history capable of reversing our nation's decay and restoring America America to greatness, and he must be given the time necessary to accomplish that goal. And, this is how the, proposed amendment would read.
No person shall be elected to the office of the president more than 3 times, nor be elected to any additional term after being elected 2 consecutive terms, And no person who has held the office of president or acted as president for more than 2 years of a term to which some other person was elected president shall be elected to the office of the president more than twice. Alright. A little bit of a tongue twister there. But, he has introduced this, and, he he also proposes he he excuse me. Andy Ogles proposes amending the 22nd amendment to allow president Trump to serve a 3rd term.
A Trump versus Obama matchup sounds lit, says Colin Rugg. Alright. So the amendment would basically create a legal framework to, allow a president to serve a 3rd term under certain conditions. And, if it's passed, it would add to the historical precedent of nonconsecutive presidencies and, a distinction currently held only by president Grover Cleveland who served as both the 22nd and 24th president of the United States. The 22nd amendment was ratified in 1951, currently lit limits presidents to 2 terms. This was established after Franklin Delano Roosevelt served an unprecedented four terms, setting a new precedent for presidential term limits.
While the proposed amendment aligns with representative Ogle's vision for Trump's leadership, Trump himself has often joked about the idea of a third term. His remarks frequently made in jest have nonetheless drawn strong reaction from his critics. Lots of liberal tears. One of Trump's notable posts on his true social platform included a meme depicting campaign signs for Trump 2024, Trump 2028, Trump 2032, eventually expanding into far off centuries. I remember that. I I do remember that. The Post was, widely circulated and sparked debate across political circles. Following his victory in in the 20 24 election, Trump joked during a meeting with Republican lawmakers about the prospect of another term. He said, quote, I suspect I won't be running again unless you do something.
He said, unless you say he's so good, we have to just figure it out. Republican lawmakers who attended the meeting clarified that the comments were made in jest. Alright. So, of course, you know, you have the typical weak bellied Republicans running away from the comment saying it's a joke. But it would be interesting, though. I I don't necessarily like the idea of it to be to be quite honest with you. I I think that it would be because what would happen, say, for example, we get, another liberal lunatic. Say, for example, like, they recommend in the in the article that, Obama wanted to would would run, another term.
I mean, do you think this country could survive that? I don't think so. I think we're we're on the edge of a separation of states. I think that, there are a lot of, lot of, serious discussion about secession, about states going it alone, particularly here in Texas. And, you know, we'll address some of that when we come back from this break. We'll get to some local news here, some Texas news, and we'll talk about some updates from the Texas Nationalist Movement of which I am a member. Alright, folks. So you've endured that portion of the show with me, and, maybe not the best, but, you know, we'll we'll get better at it. I I I I'm pretty sure of that. But folks, stay tuned. We'll be back right after this very, very short break. This is the podcast. This is Joe Rusciello. Well, that was interesting. We'll get better at it. I'm sure of it. But, folks, you cannot deny that there's a lot of good going on right now in our country, and it's, a it's a it's a great thing to see. It's it's wonderful to watch. But at the same time, folks, the reality of it is, the reality is Texas is still gonna leave. There are 25, 24 other states in addition to Texas that have secession movements in the works, even California. As a matter of fact, I I read an article earlier today, and I should have printed it out for us, but, I didn't. But, I read an article earlier about, how the California the CalExit movement is gaining steam. And, you know what? That's that's fine.
That's normal. That's healthy. It is absolutely healthy. If you're in an abusive relationship, why are you gonna stick around? In the in the in the in the case of Texas, Texas overspends into the federal system over a $100,000,000,000 a year and gets nothing back. Nothing. Granted now we're seeing some improvement. We're seeing the border close. We're seeing those things take place that that to secure us down here at in in Texas. But, you know, folks, the damage is done. You got, up at the Texas house, you got, basically, you got you got a mini a mini DC going on.
The current speaker of the Texas house had to be elected by, democrats, believe it or not, because he couldn't get enough support from the republican caucus. So it's it's it's the best thing to do is to separate, cut the bleeding off before it gets any worse. But we'll come to the texted stuff in a in a little bit, but, just some quick, quick story here about, talking about the Texas House. Let's see. Austin Power Brokers choose coalition with Democrats in speaker race. That's what I was just talking about. Opening day of the Texas legislature revealed a troubling alliance between establishment Republicans and Democrats as Dustin Burrow secured the speaker's gavel with a 8555 vote.
The victory came through a coalition that saw numerous Republicans break ranks with their party to join Democrats in supporting Burrow's over David Cook. The vote exposed the fault lines in Austin between those committed to genuine Texas self governance and those willing to compromise with Democrats to maintain their grip on power. Burroughs precession commitment to power sharing with Democrats signals business as usual in the capital that consistently puts political expediency ahead of Texas interests. So here it is.
Austin power brokers choose coalition with Democrats in the speaker's race. This type of stuff is the problem with Texas. Texas is a a majority red state. It's a Republican state. It's a more conservative state. Now granted you have Austin, you have San Antonio, the, you know, the city's usually a little more liberal, but, the fact that, that the that the Republican speaker of the house now needed to rely on Democrat votes to get seated. That's that's pretty disturbing. And so we're gonna keep an eye on this thing. We're gonna be checking in more frequently with this and find out how things are moving along there. But now is the time to get more active in your government.
Now is the time. Alright. Also from Texas, the Texas State Bar drops a long running case against attorney general Ken Paxton. After 4 years of a contentious legal battle, the Texas State Bar has officially dropped its effort to sanction attorney general Ken Paxton. The move comes shortly after the Texas Supreme Court dismissed a related case against Paxton's first assistant, Brent Webster in December 2024. In 2020, following a presidential election filled with concerns about election integrity, Paxton led 18 states in filing Texas versus Pennsylvania at the United States Supreme Court. The case challenged the voting procedures in Pennsylvania, Georgia, Michigan, and Wisconsin and sought to temporarily block those states from certifying vote counts ahead of the electoral college vote. The Supreme Court eventually dismissed, the case stating that Texas lacked standing to bring the the, lawsuit.
In, 2022, the Texas State Bar, attempted to censure and sanction Paxton Webster for having filed the lawsuit calling it frivolous. So, now of now what's frivolous about that? There were legitimate concerns about the 2020, election. States that were mentioned, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Michigan, Wisconsin, they all changed their election laws that election season, which is not permitted. It's illegal. It's against the law, but they did it. And that was the whole thing with the mail in ballots and when you're gonna count them and and and so on and so forth and how late you can count them. Totally within the realm of possibility that votes were stolen.
Totally within the realm of possibility. So in retaliation for the, for for challenging this, the Texas State Bar attempted to sanction, Ken Paxton and and his office for that. And, you know, I I I appreciate I'm I'm thankful for that. I'm thankful that, that that the, that they dropped the case that it has been moved on. I'm not sure what that bang was. Not very interesting. But, I don't know if you guys heard that or not, but, but but the I I and I do believe that this is also a result of, Donald Trump, winning the 2,024 election. So, so kudos kudos to, the Texas bar for dropping this ridiculous, ridiculous lawsuit.
Alright, folks. So now you know that, I am a member and, of the Texas Nationalist Movement, an organization where, we advocate for Texas independence and, you know, Texas independence, Texas itself is the process of Texas becoming an independent state, and rising among the nations once again. And, you can find out more information about Texas about Texit by heading over to, Texit now dot org. That's texitnow.org. And, you can get there. You can get a lot of information about the organization. You can also register support, become a member if you if you so choose, and, of course, make donations.
But, but, Texit or or the Texas Nationalist Movement is a quickly growing organization. There's almost 700,000 members, in the Texas Nationalist Movement right now. There are, county, leadership, county, groups that are that are being set up. If you if you follow it, like I am, because I'm part of it, that that they are, they're being set up at a rapid rapid pace. And, just recently, Angelina County launched the official TNM County group with a kickoff event. This is from January 22nd. The Texas Nationalist Movement is proud to announce the launch of its county group in Angelina County, marking a major milestone in the movement's growth across the state. This is the first county group launch following the recent reorganization of the TNM's local present.
With over 60 counties currently organizing across Texas, Angelina County's leadership team is stepping forward, to build a strong foundation for local supporters and volunteers. And, it goes on to list the, the team members, from the county coordinator, on down the line. So they will have their official, organizational meeting on Tuesday, February 4th at 6 PM, and it will take place, at 107 Lufkin Avenue in Lufkin, Texas. Alright. And, Daniel Miller, president of Texas Nationalist Movement will be speaking at the event. And if you've not heard, Daniel Miller, you need to.
The man the man is so passionate about an independent Texas. It really gets you motivated, and we had the blessing of, being able to to sit with, Daniel Miller a couple of weeks ago here on the show. And, great episode, so you need to check it out if you haven't done that already. So, again, I am, in in full disclosure, a member of the Texas Nationalist Movement. I am going through the training for county leadership, here for Maverick County. So, I am very involved with this, and and the I'm I'm the more I'm reading, the more I'm studying about this thing, the more the possibility of a free and independent Texas in my lifetime becomes obvious. There is overwhelming support right now for Texas. Alright? And, you're you're talking about, you know, in polling, over 60% of, of, Texans polled are in favor of an independent Texas.
So, it's important. And the fact that we have more elected representatives right now, in the Texas house that are, Texas first is significant because the reality of bringing something like this to the floor is is even higher. Now it would have been better if, if Burrows wasn't the speaker of the house and working with the Democrats like that because, of course, they don't want that. They wanna keep Texas, stuck to the, the the federal teat. You know? They don't wanna unleash the power of Texas because that's control for them. That's that's a loss of power with Washington DC. That's a that's a that's so they they so they they'll they'll do everything in their power to try to keep us from bringing this to the floor.
They're afraid to bring it to the floor. They're afraid to bring it to a vote of the people because it will pass. But that's why we, as members of the Texas Nationalist Movement, that are proponents of Texas Texas need to put the pedal to the metal and get to work on this and get this thing on a ballot, and we need to get it on the ballot now. Now is the time. Doesn't make a difference what goes on in Washington DC. Doesn't make a difference what Donald Trump is gonna do. Yeah. I'm thrilled. I'm absolutely overjoyed in seeing the federal government actually working on behalf of the people. I'm I'm I'm very, I'm very happy to see the leadership coming out of, Donald Trump and his administration.
I am very happy to see, America taking a stronger stance in in in the world. Although I think our position in the world I don't wanna say it that way, but, I don't believe that we should be as involved in, overseas endeavors as we are. But since we're stuck in it, you know, I'm glad to see that we're projecting strength and not weakness. So, you know, all those things are great. The fact that we closed the borders, that's great. Bravo. Long overdue. Great. But it doesn't change the situation. Texas needs to separate from the union and stand on its own. It can be done, and it will be done.
And in future shows, we're gonna devote more time to talking about TEX IT and answering some of the common questions that come up with TX IT or about TX IT and, and and and then try to encourage you to get more involved. It is incredibly important, folks. It is it is incredibly important. Texas will once again rise among the nations. It's a paraphrase of a Sam Houston quote that our president of the organization loves to quote.
