Live from Eagle Pass, I kicked off a Friday night show with some housekeeping and local updates, then dove straight into the ongoing federal government shutdown—the “Schumer Shutdown,” what’s actually closed versus essential, and the real-world impacts on paychecks, SNAP/WIC, parks, housing, research, and travel. I walked through the political standoff over ACA subsidies, who’s refusing to budge, fresh polling on blame and public sentiment, and why the media narrative isn’t sticking like it used to. I also hit listener questions and highlighted our recent local guests, plus a heads-up on Sunday’s Bible study series.
In hour two, I shifted to UN Day and laid out ten reasons to get the U.S. out of the United Nations, from sovereignty conflicts and disarmament pushes to bureaucratic overreach. I featured Sen. Mike Lee’s DEFUND Act to withdraw and defund U.S. participation in the UN and urged listeners to contact Congress. I wrapped with community notes, ways to support the show, and upcoming events—then set the table for a deeper look this Sunday.

Transmitting live from the asylum studios deep in the bowels of Southwest Texas, it's the Joe Ruge Show. The show where we talk about anything and everything. Where nothing is sacred, nothing is watered down,
[00:04:19] Unknown:
and nothing is PC. Alrighty. Hey, folks. This is Joe Roos, and it is great to be with you once again, transmitting live at the asylum studios from the pimple on the backside of Texas, the beautiful city of Eagle Pass, and doing the very best we can to bring you the best quality talk radio we could muster without all the bluster. Hey, folks. Welcome to the Joe Ruse Show. And you know what? It is Friday. It is finally, finally Friday. I don't know about you, but I've been looking forward to the weekend. Been looking forward to, just destressing this weekend.
Hopefully, we'll be able to do that. But we're gonna do the best we can to accomplish that goal. I have a couple of cigars that are waiting for me in the humidor out in, the other room out there. And, gonna kick back and just relax. Need to. Got a lot of things going on here, folks. A lot of things. And, I'm gonna be completely honest with you. I always am. I try to be anyway. But I'm gonna be completely honest with you. I am not really feeling my best tonight, and so I'm not sure how long we're gonna be able to go. I have two main things that I wanted to talk to you about tonight. One of them being the the ongoing government shutdown. I wanted to talk about that, earlier this week, but, we weren't able to really get to it.
And then I wanna talk to you a little bit about, the United Nations. It's, it's UN day. So I wanna talk to you a little bit about the United Nations, and I I I got this, this article from, the John Birch Society that I thought was fabulous. Fabulous. And, I'm gonna talk to you about that. It, it's it's really it's very, very, very good, very informative. And then, you know, we'll we'll wrap it up from from there, and, you know, we'll see how far we get with it tonight. But, no show tomorrow, Saturday, we're gonna we're taking tomorrow off. We I am in the process of working something out with our new sponsor, TNE Energy, and, we're gonna be talking about that probably over the weekend at some point. And, we'll see how all that stuff plans out.
I know coming up, we're gonna be talking to some folks, from the VA, and also we have a, we have a food drive coming up, in the month of November that I'll talk about, when we do the announcements of toward the end of the show. And then I also wanna remind everybody, you know, we we spoke with, with Paco from, the library here in Eagle Pass on Wednesday evening. So I just wanna remind you about their event coming up on the twenty eighth of this month, the Halloween event, which is gonna be taking place at the Eagle Pass Public Library. So make sure you, if you're local or if you're in the area, at least, come by and check it out. It's gonna be a lot of fun. And, we're looking forward to seeing how that that whole thing plays out. So, make sure you check them out. And, so what do you think about, about the show with, our really our third person a third local person that we've had here as a guest on the show? And, the first being, the former city manager, George Antuna, and then we had, we had, now mayor Aaron Valdez on the show, had him on twice, actually.
And, and then, Paco from the library. So that I thought that that went really well. It was a lot of fun talking to him. It's always good to meet some, some fellow Eagle Passians. Never met him before. It was a lot of fun talking to him. And it's funny that we have some very similar interests, so we'll be collaborating on a few things, somewhere down the road. And, it's gonna be a lot of fun. Also, you know, what he didn't tell us on the show was that he is a he is one of the three hosts of the Alpha Bros podcast that you could find on YouTube. So make sure you check him out, give him a like and subscribe, and, let him know you're out there watching. I think they're pushing for their first 100 viewers or subscribers. So if you can help them out, if they haven't haven't already reached it since Wednesday, make sure you do that. So check them out. Alright. Now also, we have do have some housekeeping of our own that we, need to kinda kinda get through. So we'll do that in a second. Also, I wanna remind you about Sunday's show. So last Sunday, we started this series on the dispensations, and we covered the pre Adamic. And then coming up this Sunday, we'll be talking about the dispensation of innocence. So that's gonna be I think it's gonna be a great study. I'm looking forward to it, if I do say so myself.
So I'm looking forward to it. So I hope you guys will be able to tune in for that. The, the feedback I've gotten from the, the last Sunday Bible study show we did was really good, really helpful. And, I was happy to answer some questions that some folks brought up. And, if we have time on Sunday, maybe we'll we'll bring them out and we'll talk about them, on the show a little bit. Just kinda, you know, add a little, listener interaction there. That's always a lot of fun. So, with that said, how about we get into some of our housekeeping here? So just folks, just wanna remind you that the Joe Russo is brought to you tonight by podhome.fm. Podholm is the most easy and modern podcast hosting platform you're gonna find out there today. Alright. Also, head over to our website, if you wouldn't mind, please. Please head over to our website, and, that's joeroos.com. It's right up there on your screen. And, go over to our contact section, open up that little web form, and why don't you send us over a message. Let us know whatever's on your heart, whatever's on your mind, any questions, comments, cares, or concerns that you might have. And, if you have any suggestions for a topic of a show, if you have any suggestions for a guest, we'd love to hear that from you. So send them on over to us. We'd appreciate that. Alright. Also, if you don't wanna use the website, or the contact form, that's fine. You can always email me directly at [email protected]. That's [email protected].
And, of course, while you're on the website, if you wouldn't mind, please look for that support button that's on our home on the home page. And remember, this is a value for value show. And, all that simply means is that if you've received anything of value from the content that we're putting out, we're asking that you donate that you return that, that value in the form of a donation, and which can be your time, your talent, or your treasure. No matter how you go about it, we appreciate it. And as you guys know, we are currently we also have a GoFundMe going on right now because, we have a a pretty significant shortage in in in our, our our escrow. Taxes went up crazy over here.
And, so there's a shortfall here. And, you know, we're looking at probably having to, you know, cut back shows and and whatnot because, if I can't come up with a lump sum payment, I'm just gonna be kinda tight around here for a while. So I'm gonna have to cut some things out. And unfortunately, I have to probably go out and get another job just so I can just pay the taxes. So, if you can help us out, I mean, it would suck to do it too because especially now. Because, you know, we're get we we're we're building our audience. We're seeing more views. We're seeing more downloads. We're we're interacting more with the folks, and I I hate to lose that momentum.
So if you can help us to do that, I would really appreciate it. And I think that's kind of what's weighing on me the most. I think that's why I'm I'm feeling kinda crappy tonight. I was I was talking with my mortgage company. I was talking trying to figure out how we could, you know, mitigate this a little bit, but there's just really no other way to do it. The easiest and most effective way to do it is that one lump sum. So if you can help out, we'd appreciate it. And so I just wanna thank you to the folks that have already donated, so I do appreciate that. But, if you're on the fence about it and you wanna really help us out, just click that button. We'd appreciate it. And, of course, every donation that comes into the show outside of the GoFundMe, is being directed into that escrow account so we can, you know, kinda chip away at it, chip away at it, chip away at it. And, hopefully, we'll be able to get it done by the, by the end of this month so we can get this thing taken care of. Again, I hate asking for the help. I really do.
I hate being in the position to do that, but unfortunately, that's where we are right now. So, if you could, we would appreciate that. Alright. And then, of course, as always, we're gonna lay out the other ways that you can help out the show, by the end of the show when we go through the shout outs to our executive producing team. So, again, you can check out the QR code right there on your screen or you can check out the link to the GoFundMe at the bottom of the show notes. And, you know, if you're like I said, if you're able to help us out, we would really appreciate it. Alright. Let's take that down, and we'll take this off.
Alright. Now, let's see. Like I said, we'll layout out all the different ways you can help us out, by the end of the show. Alright. Now, with all of that said, what in the world is going on here in Washington DC? Well, to no surprise to everyone, we have this thing that's going on. It's called a government shutdown, which really isn't a complete government shutdown. You know, only certain services are shutdown, essential services are still in operation. And, rightly so, they're calling this the Schumer Shutdown. Alright. Now, I just wanna give you a little background.
Somehow, someway, I missed my mouth on that one. But, just wanna, you know, kinda give you some background on all of this. So the, the Schumer shutdown started at midnight on 10/01/2025. And, the reason why this happened is because Congress failed to pass a continuing resolution to fund the government, for the new fiscal year. And it's been branded that Schumer shutdown appropriately, Because the Democrats have it within their control to to end it, and they're refusing to do that. They're refusing to, talk about and negotiate over some pretty significant issues, like with the with Obamacare or or ACA, the Affordable Care Act, which it really is the Unaffordable Care Act. And I and I say that, because what happens here is if the shutdown does well, if the shutdown continues, through November 1, on November 1, folks with, folks with, the Obamacare plans, you know, people that purchase their their, insurance over the marketplace, are gonna see a pretty significant increase in their premiums, up to over over a thousand dollars I read in once in one place, and I I think I have it here somewhere in my notes, and I'll when we get to it, we'll I'll mention it.
But as of today, this thing is in its twenty fourth day, which makes it the longest running shutdown in US history, and the second longest overall, in, when including partial ones. Now, some of the things that are that are going on here, you have, you have the stalemate here is in Congress. Alright. So so far, the Senate has rejected at least 12 Republican led bills to reopen the government. Alright? So the Democrats, they need five Democrat votes. That's all they need. Just five Democrat votes. And this thing ends and it reopens, the government. But the Democrats are not moving on this. They're not budging on it. And neither are the Republicans, which is great.
We we we need this. We do. Alright? Democrats are are are looking for over 1 and a half trillion dollars in Affordable Care Act or Obamacare subsidies over the next ten years. Alright. Now, the the problem is, first of all, this is how bad Obamacare is. When the Democrats forced Obamacare on the country, under the Obama administration, they worked into this bill subsidies that expire. And so that's that's what they're fighting over right now is is these subsidies. Now, those subsidies, you know, it's not just for that. It's also the Democrats want to fund health care, free health care, on the taxpayers back for illegal aliens that are here in this country. Now, of course, they they're they're constantly talking about how it's not, it's not about giving illegal illegal aliens health free health care, because they all stay, well, it's illegal federal, you know, they can't get federal better. But they do.
But they do. And it's been proven over and over and over again. Now, so that that's the key point that the Democrats are sticking on. They want this $1,500,000,000,000 to pay for health care for illegal aliens. Okay? Okay. You understand that now. So I wanna remind you also that the the they have voted to pass this continuing resolution as it is 13 times. 13 times, they have they have voted to pass this thing. But now they're trying to hold this whole process up for this 1,500,000,000,000.0 for health care for illegals. Alright.
Now, let's see. So the house is not in session until Monday, the twenty seventh. So, that'll be this coming Monday. They'll be, convening again. And, we'll see what happens at that time. Alright. Let's take a look. Alright. Hey. To the folks that are watching on Facebook and Twitch and YouTube and x, thanks for watching. Appreciate it. Folks over on Rumble, thank you. Thank you for being there. Don't wanna know why that just popped up on the screen, but it did distracted me. Sorry. Alright. Now, of course, the president has refused to meet with, with, Schmucki, Schumer, and, Houseman argued they're Hakim Jeffries until the government reopens, calling Democrats obstructionists, which they are, and rejecting their demands as extortion.
On the twenty first, he hosted Republicans state rep senate Republicans at the White House and, has been, of course, you know, focusing on international affairs at this particular point, trying to negotiate peace with, within the Middle East, which somewhat successful on that. And then, of course, working out these arrange these, agreements with, Russia and Ukraine, which we're hoping comes to an end very, very soon. Let's see what else. We got, so, Democrat senators, John Ossoff, Raphael Warnock, Warnock broke ranks on October 23 voting with Republicans on a bill to pass essential federal workers, to pay essential federal workers, signaling a potential pressure to resolve the shutdown.
Alright. So, so the the administration is actually funneling money from the tariff, revenue to continue to pay the The United States Military, to make sure our our soldiers and our military personnel are paid, and other essential programs, and and services that the federal government is doing, is responsible for. So, we got that in the works. But let's, tell you what, let's get into some of the impact here. So federal employee pay. Right? So over 500,000 civilian workers are furloughed. The first missed paycheck on October 24, Active duty military and essential workers continue, but there are delays in getting their pay, until retroactive funding passes, contractors are left unpaid.
Now, again, the administration is using, funds or revenue from the tariffs to make sure that the military gets paid. Alright. What about, public lands, national parks? Well, they remain open, unlike the 2013 shutdown, but maintenance, visitor centers, and ranger services accumulation and safety risks are rising. Food assistance, SNAP, WIC. Now, you're hearing about this all over the place. All over. Which is not a bad thing. It definitely weeds out fraud. You're you're seeing a lot of folks posting stuff on on, on TikTok and Instagram, talking about all the money that they get from their SNAP program.
So one, some lady was talking about she gets $4,200 a month. That's, like, double my mortgage payment every month for food. How do you spend $4,200 a month on food? I mean, I know it's expensive. I know food's expensive. I just for myself, I mean, monthly, I think I spend maybe about 800 on food, and that's just me and my dogs. But $4,200 a month on food. So you're seeing all these videos and people talking about going out, you know, if their EBT car gets shut off, they're gonna start rioting and and and stealing from stores and breaking into people's homes, talking all kinds of stupid nonsense. But that's the reality of it. That's that's what happens when you are totally dependent upon the government for everything.
That's what happens. Alright? And and remember, these people that are saying these things are dependent upon you, the taxpayer, for these things. So let that think in. Let that think in. Listen, you can tell I'm not here. Let that sink in. That they are dependent upon you, the taxpayer, for all these benefits that they get, while you, the taxpayer, are struggling every single day, every single month to make ends meet. And I know because I'm speaking from experience. I'm having a hard time right now myself, but, but that's the fact of the matter. I saw one video and I I wasn't able to get it because I saw it too close to the showtime for me to pull the video up. But, this this young lady I maybe I have it on on x somewhere. I'll check. But the, this one this one young lady is saying that, you know, she's you know, they're used to eating steak and lobster and crab and all that stuff. When was the last time you had steak, lobster, and crab for yourself and your family?
And you work hard, you pay your bills, you pay your taxes, they don't work, this lady's not working, she's not paying taxes, but she's taking benefits from the taxpayer to live that kind of a life, and enjoy those things that you can't do because you can't make ends meet. There are some people that are working full time that at the end of the at the after they pay their bills, they only have like a few $100 left to to stretch out to the next paycheck. And they somehow, someway have to make all of that money, that they had to take that that money, they gotta they gotta divide it fifteen days in between paychecks, whatever it is, and make sure that that thing stretches out. I heard one person say that they have they had a, their electric bill was coming due for, like, I think it was, like, $300, and then they had their their TV bill, they had car insurance and something. A couple other bills that came up, and they only had, like, $300 in your account.
And all these bills are coming up, which totaled over 500. And you have a person sitting on TikTok, making TikToks with their iPhone, their Android phone, paid for by you, complaining that they're not getting their steak, and their lobster, and their crab. Just saying. If that doesn't infuriate you, I I don't know what will. I, to me that's infuriating. But benefits for, for October, once they run out, that's it for the month. November 1, EBT cards will be either greatly reduced or not refilled. States can extend emergency aid, but 42 listen to this number.
Forty two million people. Forty two million people are dependent on SNAP, WIC, other benefit other food assistant programs. 42,000,000 people. Don't you think that that's a problem in this country? Don't you think that's a problem? And of course, food banks are overwhelmed, in Virginia, just the other day. The in Virginia, the the so many people showed up that they ran out of food to give out after an hour. This is what happens when you are dependent upon government for everything. Food, health care. I don't even wanna say health care. It's actually, it's insurance. You can get health care. Health care is available to everybody.
If you go to the hospital in a for with a legitimate emergency, they can't refuse you. But when you are dependent on government for all these things, what you're seeing taking place across social media right now with all these people complaining, this is what you get. And there are 42,000,000 people that are dependent on government for some of these basic things. You know something? I I I tried once, just once. Just on a, you know, just wanted to see if what would happen if I did. I I I, of course, I didn't get it. I didn't meet the minimum criteria. I think I I think I made it at the time, I think I was making like a $100 more than what the minimum was to qualify, which is fine.
Totally fine, you know? Didn't really need it, just wanted to see what would happen if I tried, You know? So, but, it it it's it's ridiculous, folks. It's ridiculous. 42,000,000 people. What else is gonna be delayed here? So refunds are delayed, so no no new audits or collections. Well, that's good. Now what I find interesting though is, no new audits, no new collections, but yet they still take it out of your paycheck. Right? Maybe that should stop too. That should stop too. And, of course, taxpayer services are are closed. So if you needed to go to a a a a tax office, you're not gonna get an appointment, you're not gonna be able to walk in, closed.
Urban asset or, housing and urban development, HUD, rental assistance pause for new applicants, inspection is delayed, possibly risking evictions for 5,000,000 low income households. That's a lot of people that depend on government assistance for housing and urban development. Right? Or housing. I shouldn't say urban development, but housing. Small business loans, approvals are stopped, disaster relief delayed for businesses hit by events like hurricanes and any other natural disaster, environmental protection, monitoring enforcement, halted, cleanups paused, delaying works at at over 1,300 toxic sites, Then research and science, new grants frozen, clinical trials disrupted affecting cancer and disease research, and, of course, you know, these these impacts have ripple effects.
You know, you get including a a 1 to 2,000,000,000 daily loss in, GDP. That's significant. But then again, when you when you when you have $38,000,000,000,000 in debt, what's another billion? And then, of course, you have the potentially affected services. You have, let's see. So if services shuts if the service shutdown extends beyond early November, broader disruptions could could develop, and and what I have here is just based off of, like, historical patterns from prior shutdowns and current warnings from from some of the agencies involved. None of this is guaranteed. This is just based on pattern.
Health care, premiums, this is what I was looking for before. Premiums could spike anywhere from 30 to 300% for 20,000,000 enrollees starting November 1. 20,000,000 people depend on the government for their health care, their insurance. So you're talking about you're talking about monthly premiums going up from $250 a month to over a thousand dollars a month. And then there's an additional 400, sorry, 4,000,000 that are at risk of losing coverage entirely without the extension without extension. Alright. What about Social Security Medicare? Benefits continue, from prior funding, but new claims processing, fraud investigations halt, Medicare provider payments delayed, after two to three weeks affecting hospitals and seniors. And then you have benefits for, veterans affairs. Benefits paid through October, but appointments and claims processing slow down. 9,000,000 veterans could face delays and disability payments by mid November.
Financial regulators, like the SEC, the FDIC, market oversight is reduced, mortgage approvals and bank exams are delayed, which of course could bring economic instability. Well, what about immigration? What about border security? Alright. That's extremely important, especially to me. I live here in a border town, and it's one of the things that this government that this current administration has been spot on successful with. Well, CBP, ICE operations continue as essential, but asylum processing and Visa issuances, backlog potentially delaying legal immigration for months. What about, education?
Alright. Pell grants, student loans, and and the such. Well, Pell grants and loans funded through the through year end, but default collections paused. New FAFSA processing, which is the federal finance the the federal finance financial aid something or whatever, processing could delay aid for '26 2026 to 2027 school year. And then, of course, you have, which has been in the news today, air travel, transportation, the FAA, Amtrak, and and things like that. You're talking shortages, staffing shortages. You, heard Sean Duffy today was talking about how, a number of, significant number of, candidates for air traffic controllers just quit because they're not gonna get paid.
And then, of course, with Amtrak, you're gonna have, you're gonna have routes that are gonna that are gonna change, they're gonna be cut, highway funding is gonna lapse, and that could eventually, you know, slow down projects or halt them completely. It it, you know, the longer it goes on, it could exacerbate inflation. You know, food and fuel prices could go up. Disaster responses are are gonna be slowed down. You're looking up to you know, economists say that there could be up to a million job losses in related sectors by December. And this all could be avoided if the Democrats just vote for the continuing resolution just like they did twelve, thirteen times before.
Even in the in the in the Biden administration. It could all come to an end. The government would continue to work. Oh, look, I You don't you don't necessarily really wanna, you know, go through continuing resolutions to keep the government going. You need to set a budget and that's the budget you work with, and that's the end of it. You know, you and I as as as citizens, we don't get to to, appropriate more funds just because we need it. We have to go out and get it. We gotta work for it. We gotta set a budget. Gotta follow your budget. In most cases, there isn't some, you know, most of us don't have 300 plus million people that we can dip our hands in their pocket and say, well, we're just gonna take a little bit more from you.
Let's get some clips. Let's let's let's look at some clips here. How about this? Let me go here. Well, before we get to the clips, let me start here. Let's share this. Alright. This from this is from, a couple days ago, but it was a good article. So I wanted to save it. I was gonna use it on another show. Shutdowns are great. Reminds us of how little government we need. And and it's very very true. Very true. You like I said, look at how many people are dependent on the government for for their lifestyles. Just look at it.
If you didn't have government, an intrusive government like we have, people would have to go to work. There wouldn't be a perpetual welfare state where people are on it generationally. Let's go to the article here. Those of us who are firmly in the small government camp have had a rough go of it a rough go of it seemingly forever. No matter who we elect or what activist organizations we get behind, the federal behemoth grows like a cancer that spreads through abuse of the American taxpayer. It's easy to blame Democrats and the fact that government is their god, but Republicans haven't been much use when it comes to federal belt tightening either, which is very, very, very true. This is not a party thing. This is this is government thing.
Well, that changed when President Donald Trump returned for a second stint in the Oval Office. The one with the decidedly scorched earth vibe, he's mercifully he is mercurially he is mercurial alright. I'll I'll figure out the word. Alright. His mercurial friendship with Elon Musk led to the establishment of DOGE, the Department of Government Efficiency, which was given a mandate to take a machete to the federal bureaucratic blow. Despite the very public breakup, between the President and Elon Musk, DOGE has been chugging along, trimming financial fat wherever it can. The work hasn't been grabbing a lot of headlines. Accounting isn't very sexy or sensational, but it's more important news than the no kings diaper diaper filling.
So this is, some of the things that Doge has come up with recently. So here, your taxpayer dollars and mine were paying for a special makeup artist at the US Agency for Global Media. That was until DOGE got involved. DOGE cut contracts with a ceiling value of around 17,000,000,000 altogether over the last three weeks. It seems that the waste and fraud of our federal government is endless. And Doge has a has to wade through an absolute mountain of corrupt insanity as it tries to restore fiscal responsibility to the government. And she said, Doge usually retreat releases a contract update at the end of every week on October 18. Doge shared the results of its worth in the previous four days. During that time, Doge helped agencies and a 150 wasteful contracts that altogether possessed a ceiling value of 3,200,000,000.0 and will represent a savings of 240,000,000.
Alright. Goes on here. Says, talk about saving millions from a multitrillion budget can seem like talking about ounces when one needs to lose 300 pounds. But as the saying goes, the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. So we're now three weeks into this latest government shutdown, and I feel like my version of how things should be valid is more every day. The supposedly tragic consequences of a shutdown that congressional Democrats will about never manifest themselves out here in the real world. Sure, there are some rough times for Virginia counties that have gotten wealthy from policing American taxpayers, but beyond that, most of the country is proceeding a pace with life as usual. And that's very true. That's very true.
It is life as usual. And but just look at the amount of money that is being spent on wasteful projects like a makeup artist and and things like that that Doge pull out. The billions of dollars that are sent out. Just think about what that could do here at home. There wouldn't be a need for taxation as high as it is. And there wouldn't be any taxation at all. Actually, if we stayed out of world business and just focused on things here at home, it's just waste, waste, waste. And they keep on fleecing the taxpayers for more, more, and more.
Alright. What else? Oh, where is that one? Did I not put it? Let me do that really quick. Let me add this. And of course, going along, like like like I said before, this this shutdown is the Democrats shutdown. This is the Schumer shutdown. Alright? He is the one leading the charge in this thing. And and and, honestly, this could be the worst news possible for the Democrats. And what I'm talking about is, this piece of information right here.
[00:43:22] Unknown:
That's exactly right. Turns out shut Sorry. Wrong one.
[00:43:27] Unknown:
Where is it? Okay. Alright. PJ Media. Make no mistake about it. When the Democrat shut down the government, they figured it would be an easy public relations victory for them. In all fairness, that is usually how it goes because they have the entire mainstream media pushing their talking points. But the latest numbers from CNN's chief polling analyst, Harry Enten, tell a far different and deeply unsettling story for Democrats. Enten highlighted what most in the media are loath to admit that Americans simply aren't blaming president Trump the way they once did. Let's take a look. Back it up just a bit. There we go.
[00:44:08] Unknown:
That's exactly right. Turns out shutdowns are different the second time around when it comes to Donald Trump. Take a look here. You know, we speak about Donald Trump shutdowns, net approval rate, and we're talking twenty days into it. In 2018 slash 2019, Donald Trump's net approval rating was already falling. The shutdown was eating into his popular sport. It was down three points already at this particular point and would fall considerably more. It was very much on the decline. You come over to this side of the screen, this shutdown hasn't eaten in the Donald Trump support at all. Isn't that approval rating? It's actually up a point in in terms of in in And that has to that infuriates
[00:44:45] Unknown:
the Democrats. Absolutely infuriates them that they have no footing on this. That the American people see what this is all about. The American people are not stupid. They figured this thing out.
[00:45:03] Unknown:
Terms of his popular support. So the bottom line is this. The first shutdown during Trump's first term, twenty eighteen, twenty nineteen, was hurting Donald Trump. This one is not hurting him at all. There's no real reason Donald Trump might say, at least when it comes to popular support, I wanna get out of this shutdown. What about the question of blame? Yeah. Okay. What about the question of blame? Okay. You see here, you see Donald Trump's net approval rating was down 2018 to 2019. You talk about 2025 as net approval rating is up. It comes down to the blame game, a game I love to play when I was younger. Blame Trump for the shutdown a great deal. In 2018 slash 2019, 61%, more than three in five Americans blamed Trump a great deal for that particular shutdown. You come over to this side of the screen, look at this. It's a different world. It's a different world. 48% of Americans blame Trump a great deal for this particular shutdown. So it's more than three and five back in twenty eighteen slash 2019. It's less than half, a drop of 13 points. Again, it's no real wonder that Donald Trump, at this point, looking at the shutdown says, you know what? It's not actually harming me politically in large part because he's getting less of the blame.
[00:46:05] Unknown:
So that should be sounding an alarm to the Democrats, but it's not. They are doubling down on their that they want 1 and a half trillion dollars to fund health care for illegal aliens. And they try to spin it, and they try to blame Donald Trump for it. They try to play they try to blame the Republicans for it, but you can't. And the American public sees that. They understand that, and they're not they're not they're not lining up behind the Democrats, and they're not believing how the media is spinning it. And I'm gonna show you some clips in just a minute too, just to back that up. But let let's finish this, let's just finish this one. And he's doing things differently during this shutdown. Yes. Exactly right. You know, we talk about Donald Trump. You say, okay. He wants to be a consequential,
[00:46:56] Unknown:
influential president. Well, if the legislative process is basically frees up, you know, on Capitol Hill, you may say, well, then he can't actually get legislation through. But that's not how Trump is governing in this term. We've spoken about this over and over and over again. He's using his pen. He is using executive orders. Trump executive orders at this point of presidency. In 2017, it was just 50. Look at this. Already 210 executive orders signed by Donald Trump during this presidency. That is the most in a year. You have to go all the way back since Franklin Delano Roosevelt to find a president who signed more executive orders in a year than Donald Trump has already signed this time around. And remember, John Berman, we still have two months to go in this year, so wouldn't be surprising to me if he signs even more. Yeah. It seems to be saying, Congress, you don't wanna do something?
[00:47:40] Unknown:
I'll do it. I'll do it. Harry Eaton, thank you very much.
[00:47:45] Unknown:
Alright. So so the polling is not in favor with with the Democrats. Despite the fact they go out there and say, well, the American people are on our side on this. They they we're not. The American people are not on the side of the Democrats on this one. I'm sorry. The American people see through this. Now, of course, I think personally speaking, I think they're hoping that come November 1 when when the SNAP benefits shut down and the WIC benefits shut down and all those cards don't get refilled, there's gonna be mass hysteria.
And I say that tongue in cheek. I think that's what they're hoping for. That there's gonna be a lot of unrest. There's gonna be people out in the streets. There's gonna be the looting. There's gonna be the the the rioting. And you're gonna see it, of course, in democrat run cities, and you're gonna see it, in in in in in in places like like New York and Chicago, and and, you know, where they'll just let them run rampant all over the all over the place, stealing, breaking into things, and just I think that's what they're waiting for. That's what they're waiting for.
And they're waiting to see how Donald Trump reacts to the civil unrest, Especially since he's been deploying the National Guard out to help crime, like in DC, and Portland, and and other places. All it takes is is is one mistake, and it could it it it'll break down really fast. But another story. Another issue, another story. Hakeem Jeffries. All over the place. And and this is how you know that that that it's not really sticking either. And and because there are some in the media that are calling out the Democrats on this one. Excuse me.
Here's, this is from, this is from today. This is Hakeem Jeffries on CNBC, not exactly a bastion of of right wing or conservative thought. But here's Hakeem Jeffries on CNBC getting humiliated. Absolutely humiliated. Make trying to make his case for the government shutdown. Let's take a look.
[00:50:25] Unknown:
Sid, what you are asking the Republicans to do right now when they control the White House and the House is effectively what the Democrats could not do when they controlled all three of those those, heads of government themselves. The ten year, setup for this for for these, or the three year setup for the expiration of these credits was intentionally put in. It was put in when you controlled the White House, the House, and the Senate. You couldn't get it passed for longer. And so this is a setup that kind of of your own creation that you all couldn't extend beyond that. Now you want the Republicans to do something Just look at his face. When you were in power.
[00:51:04] Unknown:
It's not a setup, beyond what we could do. We extended the Affordable Care Act tax credits in 2022, for three years. The program is working. It's providing health care to tens of millions of people in an affordable way, and it should be continued. It's interesting to us that Republicans decided, that they would prefer to permanently extend massive tax breaks for their billionaire donors in their one big ugly bill.
[00:51:32] Unknown:
That's that's their go to. They're billionaire donors. Look, anything the Democrats accuse you of, that's what they're doing themselves. So, so like I said earlier, the the so the the whole thing needs 60 votes to pass. The it failed to pass in a fifty five forty five vote. Rand Paul actually voted with the Democrats on this. See, the Democrat party, wants to put the welfare for illegal aliens, like we said, higher taxes by repealing Trump's big beautiful bill, surgeries for transgender minors, and more garbage ahead of keeping the government open. That's what they're pushing for.
That's that's what they're that's what they want. And they're not budging, and they want $1,500,000,000,000 to do it. But, of course, as you heard, Dollar Store Obama here talking, you know, continuously blaming, claiming that the Democrats, had no choice because they needed to force Republicans to permanently extend Obamacare tax credits or else Americans would fix crippling health insurance bills, which is, yeah. We're going to. Because you put together the Democrats forced a bill down our throats that had an expiring subsidy.
So now we have to continue to vote on these and and add more and more funds to it. And then, of you know, he shows up on CNBC here, to make his point, and of course to smear the Republicans and, and as the party being responsible for the shutdown, but and you you heard it yourself. Made a very very she she, she made a very very excellent point that really, if you think about it, does dismantle everything that that that that that they're all their talking points. Democrats had the opportunity to permanently extend the Obamacare credits when they controlled all three branches of government, but they didn't do it.
They didn't do it. Instead, they settled for a three year extension. A three year extension. And that three year extension is, I guess, created the the situation we're in now. And what the government is doing, what the Democrats are doing, is they're holding the government hostage, and demanding that Republicans fix the problem that they created. To fix the problem that they could have fixed themselves of their own creation. So here's, here's speaker Johnson.
[00:54:35] Unknown:
Nonpartisan CR, they're gonna get hammered. Another insider said in that same story, quote, we would have enough votes to reopen the government if people were not terrified of getting the guillotine. Okay? They mean it metaphorically, but in a in a political sense, that's exactly what they're concerned about. Good point. And think about
[00:54:53] Unknown:
the the fact that we're just laying out here. And and and what they're afraid of, and when he when he talks about the the, the metaphorical guillotine, is he's talking about the far left base of the Democratic party. That's who he's talking about.
[00:55:09] Unknown:
There these these are simple facts. We come out here every morning, and and remind the American people of what's going on. Do not let them distract you from the facts. The American people would have an open government if Democrats were not terrified of their radical base. That is the headline. Every single one of you should write that. That's the ugly truth. The Democrats are not governing in good faith. They're they're covering their own tail. They're out here decrying the so called, forthcoming health care crisis, they say. It's the one that they themselves created. The Democrats created Obamacare.
They're the ones that created a subsidy with an expiration date. They're the ones that did all of this. Republicans are trying to fix it. And they're they're trying to blame Republicans for the crisis they themselves created. They cry foul when when we won't bail them out of their own shutdown. I don't have anything to offer as I've explained. I don't have any partisan priority. I can pull off of the CR to make it more palatable for them. There's nothing to negotiate. They just have to do what they've always done in the past that they did 13 times during the Biden administration, and they did as recently as March,
[00:56:11] Unknown:
to open the government so that people can get their services and their paychecks. I have another clip here from, from dollar store Obama. And this one here, he's saying that, you know, basically, the the Democrats in the Senate will not vote for the GOP 24 page current concur, continuing resolution under any circumstances. So they're digging in. They're digging in. So let's, let's take a look at this. Gonna screen share it.
[00:56:52] Unknown:
Any bipartisan legislation that comes out of the senate that is designed to decisively address the Republican health care crisis, reopen the government, and enact a bipartisan spending agreement that actually makes life better for the American people. That's what we're prepared to support. Leader Jeffries, good morning.
[00:57:12] Unknown:
I understand the Democrats' position on health care and Obamacare here, but with the open enrollment period starting on the first, hasn't that ship legislatively sailed?
[00:57:21] Unknown:
No. The challenge is gonna become even more significant for congress and the president to deal with if this government shutdown drags on to November 1. Open enrollment starts on November 1. At that point in time, Americans all across the country are gonna begin to further realize that their premiums, co pays, and deductibles are gonna skyrocket. And why is that happening? Because Republicans decided earlier this year that they'd rather gut Medicaid and then provide massive tax breaks to their billionaire donors, make those tax breaks permanent. But now, as we approach open enrollment, have zero interest in actually extending affordable care act tax credits that benefit working families, middle class families, and everyday Americans.
And so the crisis has grown worse because of Republican inaction over the last several weeks. And if we get to act with respect to the Affordable Care Act tax credits, I think that's gonna increase the intensity and need for for urgent legislative action to take place. Is retroactivity viable? Yes. Biller, you, Senator Biller has maintained that he believes a path out of
[00:58:55] Unknown:
So under no circumstances are the Democrats going to vote on this measure. You heard it there. You heard it right there. They're not interested in it. And of course, the the shifting of the blame. Again, shifting of the blame. The Democrats had all three branches of government. They could have very easily made those subsidies permanent. They chose not to. Rather, they chose to pick a an expired an expiring three year deal on that. And now they're screaming and crying because the big bad Republicans aren't going to fix the problem that they created, that they could have fixed themselves, like I said before.
Alright. Now this was interesting. This this this I mean, folks, these people are sick. Okay? The the Democrats, they they are sick. I think it was what? It was the twenty second. So that was Tuesday. You probably I know you've seen this all over the place, but this is another thing with the Democrats that people need to understand. They don't care about you. They really don't. They care about illegals. They care about transgenders. They they care about everything thing else but you. That's it. They they they care nothing about you. And how do we know that? Well, because they're using you as leverage.
What do you talk about? They're using me as leverage. They're using you as leverage. Take a listen. The shutdowns are terrible. And and and, of course, there will be,
[01:00:53] Unknown:
you know, families that are going to suffer. We take that responsibility very seriously, but it is one of the The foe concern. Few leverage times we have
[01:01:05] Unknown:
Did you catch did you catch that? Did you catch what she said?
[01:01:09] Unknown:
Listen. And and and, of course, there will be, you know, families that are going to suffer. We take that responsibility very seriously, but it is one of the few leverage times we have.
[01:01:24] Unknown:
Okay. So now you're asking you may be you're asking, well, okay. Well, who is that? I mean, she she can't be speaking, you know, for all Democrats. Right? Who is that lady? Well, that is, US Representative Catherine Clark of Massachusetts, and she is the House minority whip. And that means that she is, the number two to Hakeem Jeffries, dollar store Obama. So this is the leadership of the Democratic party telling you that they're using you, the American people, people that are struggling to make ends meet as leverage to get funding for illegal aliens to have health care services on your back.
They're using you for that. You are leverage for them. They don't care about you. They care about criminals, illegal aliens, and the rest of it, but not you. Not the American citizen. Not you, the American taxpayer. All you are to them is a wallet that they can lift money out of. That's all you are to them and leverage. Here's Mike Johnson on that.
[01:02:49] Unknown:
And that that our my colleagues and I have come in here every morning now, during this painful Schumer shutdown is because we have to share the facts and we have to share the simple truth of the American people. And why is that? Because the Democrats are working overtime to try to hide those facts and to try to distract from the very simple truth here. They want you to forget that just five senate Democrats could reopen the government today. Oh, we need five of them. They they try to pretend that their counter proposal deal doesn't reinstate free health care for illegal aliens.
Dollars 200,000,000,000 of taxpayer funds. They try to pretend that their counterproposal would not send billions of dollars in wasteful spending for social projects in foreign countries overseas. They don't want you to look at the facts. They don't want you to look at the paperwork that they themselves filed as the counter proposal. And they refuse to admit that this entire shutdown is one big political game to satisfy the radical Marxist base of their party. Mhmm. But that is exactly what is going on. Exactly right. And I wanna be absolutely clear about this. Democrats would not have shut the government down this time if their political careers did not depend on it. And that is not some Republican talking point. That is the objective truth.
If it wasn't already abundantly clear, the number two Democrat in the house yesterday openly admitted to that fact. Catherine Clark is the house Democrat whip. She works right under, Kim Jeffries as the number one Democrat, and she was in an interview, and she said to one of your colleagues sitting here on the front row, quote, of course, there will be families that are going to suffer, but this is one of the few leverage times we have, unquote. It's it's shocking to hear them say that out loud. By her own admission, she knows that the American people are suffering. Democrats know that millions of federal workers are desperate for their paychecks. They know that thousands of flights have been delayed.
They know that SNAP benefits and nutrition assistance for women, infants, and children are in jeopardy for millions of American families. And yet, they they don't seem to care. But you know what? Take heart, America. Take heart. Because all your suffering is for a good cause. It's for the Democrats' political leverage. That's what the number two Democrat said here yesterday. It is utterly shameful. The the obvious truth is that only a Democrat could get away with saying such abhorrent things without the media batting its eye. I guarantee you if the tables were Yes. Absolutely. He is absolutely spot on. Could you imagine and and I know he's gonna say it himself in a second, but could you imagine
[01:05:35] Unknown:
if a Republican said that? Imagine, they'd be burning the Republican in effigy all over the country. The media would have a field day with it, but not for a Democrat. Democrats can say those things.
[01:05:53] Unknown:
If the Republicans are the ones holding the country hostage and and openly admitting to it, it would be absolutely explosive. It'll be wall to wall coverage, and everybody in this room knows that. Every single mainstream media outlet, every newspaper in America, every single day would have that on the top fold as the big headline. But, of course, that's not what's happening right now. Coverage of all this has been sporadic and and and and almost, every time spun to try to somehow favor the democrats who have put us in this mess.
Democrats own this. They've said so themselves, and you just you just have to listen to their own words. Don't listen to us. Chuck Schumer himself said infamously, every day of the shutdown gets better for us, meaning the democrats. And then you had the the the the Democrat whip here say yesterday openly admitted they're holding the country hostage for their political leverage. They're perfectly fine with that. They're perfectly okay with real pain being felt by real Americans as long as it helps their political agenda as they see it. As long as they can force a trillion and a half new dollars in spending on America and and get illegal aliens back on health care funded by US citizens. That's their kind of proposal. And and and, largely, so many in the media are turning a blind eye to that.
[01:07:09] Unknown:
Yes. They are. Yes. They are. And here's, here's another clip of, this is Mike Johnson at, on the Squawk box. There's
[01:07:19] Unknown:
also been reports of speaker that that, with the leader Schumer would like a almost like to have almost a backroom negotiation. Maybe it would involve president Trump. Maybe it would involve a majority leader, Thune, that maybe maybe you as well. To to just get a couple of things out, not the whole 1,500,000,000,000.0, all the things that you outlined, but, maybe just the, the the Obamacare, enhanced subsidies. It is can you confirm that that that has been something that Yeah. Senator Schumer yeah?
[01:07:54] Unknown:
Yeah. I can confirm it. He said it publicly, breathlessly. He's complained that four leaders won't go in a backroom, smoke filled room and make a deal. That's not how this works. I don't operate that way. When I became speaker, I vowed to my colleagues that we would return to regular order. I would decentralize the speaker's office, and it would not be a top down hoisted upon the membership kind of kind of program anymore. We we this is a a member driven, consensus driven operation. That's how the founders intended it to work. They did not want four people to go in a backroom and make a deal. By the way, I couldn't do that on something as complicated as extension of Obamacare COVID subsidies because we have to find the consensus that there's a 100 different ideas on how to improve that. And we need that. We needed the time in October and November to work through that with all the members. I refuse to go in a backroom with Chuck Schumer and make a deal. I don't operate that way. It's not good for the people. It's not good for financial stewardship. And it's part of the reason we're $37,000,000,000,000 in debt as a nation. 30 If you have two or three or four people in a backroom doing that, we're not we're not operating that way. That's Chuck Schumer's old way. We need this to work for the people again, and that's what I'm I'm insistent upon. And I'll keep telling that publicly and privately.
[01:09:05] Unknown:
And that's great. I wanna I'd I'd like what I'm hearing from speaker Johnson, you know. I haven't been too thrilled with his performance of late, but I'm glad to hear that he's taking a a stuff a a tough stance on this particular issue. And, and and I hope he keeps it up. I hope he keeps going. I hope there that doesn't end up being some back deal backdoor deal, back room deal, back office deal, whatever you wanna call it. I hope there isn't, and I hope they stand their ground. They ought to. They ought to. Alright. I think, I think we're gonna take a little break here, and then, we'll come back and get into, UN day. So the the takeaway from this, folks, is simply this. Yeah. The government shutdown is not an easy situation to deal with. Alright.
Is it really that impactful? You know, we see a lot, you know, a lot of those the the nonessential government services are shut down and look, you know, life moves on. Life goes on. Are there gonna be some rough road ahead? Yeah. There's gonna be some rough road ahead when especially when you have 42,000,000 people who depend on SNAP benefits and government help to to to, you know, for for those types of benefits, yeah, there's gonna be some very unhappy people. Absolutely. But this is the problem with being dependent upon your government. This is the problem.
Americans need to go back to being self reliant and self sufficient. Government needs to get the hell out of the way. Make it easier for people to take care of themselves and their families. Well, how do you do that? Well, how about getting rid of all the unnecessary spending in Washington DC, which is what Doge is trying to do and is being successful at? How about pulling us out of international affairs? Stop funding other countries. Stop sending money to Israel. Stop sending money to Ukraine. Stop sending money to all of these countries, around the world that really don't have our best interest in mind.
How about getting us out of all that? Bring all that money back here. Could you imagine? Imagine what we could do with the money that we give away. You wouldn't have an almost 33% tax rate on the federal income tax. You wouldn't even have a federal income tax. Fund the whole government through tariffs. Remember what our founding generation said. Peace, commerce with all, entangling alliances with none. Get us the hell out of NATO. Get us the hell out of the United Nations, which we're gonna talk about in a minute. Get us the hell out of all of these agreements and packs and compacts and and all that stuff.
Peace, commerce with all, entangling alliances with none. Let's focus on America. America first? Yes. How about this? How about America only? How about America only? Let me know what you think. Drop a comment down below. Shoot me an email. Let me know. Alright, folks. We're gonna take a quick break here. When we come back, we will, get into the, the, the UN day and, the United Nations stuff that I want to talk to you about. Alright, folks. Don't forget, this is a live show weeknights 7PM central time. Sunday show is 2PM central time. I know I have to change the graphic. I haven't done it yet. Been kinda busy, but we'll get that done. Alright, folks. This is The Joe Ruse Show. My name is Joe Ruse, and I'll be back right after this, short break. Stay with us.
Alright, folks. Welcome back to the Joe Root Show. My name is Joe Root. First hour is in the books, talking about the Schumer shutdown. Alright. Second hour, we're gonna get started here momentarily to talk about the United Nations. Folks, I just wanna tell you not to forget to like, subscribe, and share the show. It's a live show weeknights, 7PM central time, weekends, Sunday at two, every other Saturday at noon ish. We talk about our crypto stuff with our resident crypto psychic, Marissa Lee. Lot of good stuff, my friends. Lot of good stuff. Lot of good stuff. You know, I was thinking when I when I stepped out for a second there. You know, one thing that I I I I didn't mention and I probably should, is you know what would really solve a lot of the problems that we're dealing with with things like the government shutdown and, you know, well, Schumer shutdown and and, this all of this ridiculous taxation and all of this ridiculous, entanglement.
Independence. Independence. And you see the flag I have behind me here? Texas independence. As you know, I'm a supporter of the Texas Nationalist Movement. I'm a member of the Texas Nationalist Movement. I'm a deputy county coordinator. The depth for the Texas Nationalist Movement. We hosted, two of, two really great, great patriots, two great Texans on the show on Monday. Daphne Armour and Nate Smith, talking about Texans arise, and the importance and the need to have that conversation. You know, if Texas was an independent country, an independent state, This Schumer shutdown wouldn't be affecting us in any way.
Just something to think about. Kind of disappointed that I didn't bring it up earlier. I guess I'm not on my best tonight. But if you want more information about the Texas Nationalist Movement, Texas independence, you can go to the tnm.me, Texas National Movement website, tandm.me, or you can go to my website, joeroos.com/tnm, and you can check them out. Lot of information up there on it, plus some some QR codes that you can scan so you can register your, register your support, join, make a donation. And if you were able to check out the show on Monday, you heard. You heard exactly the plan, how it how how this whole thing would play out through the legislative process.
Getting legislators into the state house that are pro independence, that aren't going to the state house to be auditioning for, you know, the bigger role at the federal house. If I remember right, they said, we have 10, maybe, maybe a little more than 10 folks that are in the in the state house currently, that are supportive of Texas independence, others that have signed the Texas first pledge. I think that's great, but we need more. You can get involved. You can go to the tandm..me website, you can register your support there. Like I said, you can do it on my website as well, joeroos.com/tandm. It's something that needs to be really thought about and continued because the government can't continue like this. This country cannot continue like this.
And I don't think it's going to. I think we're at a tipping point. I think that the time is going to come where we're gonna have to make a decision. And I'm not talking about armed revolt, or revolution, or violence, or anything like that. I'm talking about independence through the legislative process. Doing it the right way. Secession is not a bad word, you know. Secession is a normal development in the lifestyle life in the life of a country, of a republic. If it wasn't for secession, The United States wouldn't exist, because The United States, or The United Colonies at the time, seceded from Great Britain.
A lot of people say, well, you know, how how is Texas gonna stand by itself, you know, and and and all that stuff, you know, you know, the GDP, military, all that stuff. Well, look what happened after World War two. You had how many countries, small little island nation states that that popped up overnight after World War two. They seem to be doing fine. No one told them they couldn't do it or shouldn't do it. This idea of a perpetual union in this country is a fallacy. States voluntarily join the union, states voluntarily leave the union. And on I think that time is coming.
I think it's coming. I think it's a conversation that needs to be had and discussed, and over and over and over again, it's something that needs to be brought out into mainstream conversation. Take the stigma away from it that way. And the longer this Schumer shutdown goes on, the more I'm thinking about, you know, this is this is a good thing for that. Because you're realizing just how dependent you become on this federal monstrosity over three that well for us, over 3,000 miles away for your everyday life, which is ridiculous. Folks, you need to be dependent on yourself. You need to take care of yourself, your families, your responsibility, not the government.
And you can't have 50% of the population riding on the backs of 49% of the population, or actually it's more than that. Remember, Ben Franklin said a republic if you can keep it. Madison said absolute power corrupts absolutely. Our founders were very wise men, very wise men that put this country together with the checks and balances that are in place, the structure of the government. Subsequent generations destroyed it, wrecked it, ruined it. But if we go back to our founding principles, our founding, it's quite quite a different world that we'd be living in if we stuck to it.
Alright. Well, having said all of that, I wanna talk a little bit about the United Nations. Another entangling alliance that we should not be a part of. Now I'm getting a lot of this information from the John Birch Society website, and this is incredible information. This is something that, you know, we need to talk about. Are you aware that there are many of our nation's leaders who have been working for decades to deliver The United States to the United Nations as, the major step in building a UN controlled New World Order. Did you know that?
Well, that's very true. A UN controlled New World Order. And this is something we're gonna talk about eventually when we get to our Bible studies, but, you know, the Bible talks about this one world government, this new world order extensively. And again, we're gonna talk about it in in in coming weeks as we continue on through these studies that we're doing, and dispensations now and revelation later. But, each year since the founding of the United Nations in 1945, there have been conspirators for global control that have taken steps that threatened to destroy the independence of our not only our nation, but of every nation, but particularly The United States.
And they're looking to destroy the independence and the freedoms of the American people. Now I'm gonna I'm gonna read some some points here to you. I have about 10 of them. And then I'm gonna play some audio for you of, Senator Mike Lee. And then I'm gonna encourage you to join up with the John Birch Society's Get Us Out of the United Nations campaign. And I'll tell you how to do that when we when we get to that point. But first of all, 10 reasons to get out of the out of the United Nations. First of all, number one, incompatibility of The US and UN systems of government.
Okay? And what does that mean? Well, in The United States, enshrined in our founding documents, our basic rights that were given to us by God, not by the government. Alright? Let's make sure we understand that. The government does not give you rights. Your rights are inherent from your creator, And those rights cannot be taken away, and those rights cannot be overruled. But the United Nations system is That basic rights are granted by the UN government and can be canceled by law. There is no recognition of God. The world body lists rights.
The world body being the United Nations lists rights it recognizes, and then claims the power to abolish those rights by law. And you could you could look at, the United Nations, Universal Declaration of Human Rights from 1948, and their International Covenant on Civil Rights and Political Rights from 1966. But in These United States, enshrined in our founding documents, our rights are inherent from God, our creator, and cannot be taken away. Big difference. The United Nation looks to disarm American citizens and cancel the second amendment of the United States Constitution. I mean, you should know that.
The United Nations has always looked to ban private ownership of weapons. Always. They published, they they published a book, or not a book, but a paper on, our global neighborhood 1995. And in that and in that document, it calls for the disarming of civilians. And then they have the United Nations arms treat Arms Trade Treaty that was adopted by the UN in '19 I'm sorry, 02/2013. Well, that particular treaty would would disarm Americans, and it was signed by The United States in 02/2013, but it has not yet been ratified by the US Senate. And don't think for one second. Don't think for one second that if the far left leaning Democratic party ever gains control of the senate, that they won't push to sign this thing, and get this thing ratified, especially if they have a president that's in line with their thinking.
So just keep that in mind. Number three, the UN is a lawless body. It violates its own charter. It violates article two of its own charter. Article two of the UN charter states, nothing there's a quote. Nothing contained in the present charter shall authorize the United Nations to intervene in matters which are essentially within the domestic jurisdiction of any state or parenthesis nation. Should I read that again? Nothing contained in the present charter shall authorize the United Nations to intervene in matters which are essentially within the domestic jurisdiction of any state or nation.
Okay. Well, how about some examples of how the UN is in violation of its own charter? How about forcing United States citizens to cancel plans to mine gold in Montana, or targeting US law that permits capital just capital punishment, or condemning the US border patrol for efforts to bar entry of illegal immigrants, or urging independence of Puerto Rico when even the people of Puerto Rico have repeatedly indicated they don't want their relationship with The US to change? Remember, Puerto Rico is not a state. Okay?
How about point number four? Every every UN secretary general has been either a communist or a socialist. Nineteen forty five to 1946, Alger Hiss, communist. United States. 1946 to 1953, Trigiv Lai, socialist, Norway. 1953 to 1961, Dag Hammarskjold, socialist, Sweden. You know, in New York, they have a plaza named after him? Dag Hammarskjold Plaza. 1962 to '71, U Phaat, socialist, Burma or Myanmar. 1972 to '81, Kurt Waldheim, Nazi, socialist, Austria. '82 to '91, Javier Perez de Cuellar, socialist, Peru. '92 to '96, Boutros Boutros Ghali, socialist, Egypt. '97 to o '6, Kofi Annan, socialist, Ghana.
2007 to '16, Ban Ki Moon, socialist, South Korea. And from 2017 to current, Antonio Guterres, communist from Portugal. Every single UN secretary general since the UN opened its doors has been a socialist or a communist, which would explain the policies that they'd like to impose. UN charters this is number five. UN charters article 25 overrides The US constitution and American sovereignty. How about that? UN's chart UN charter article 25 overrides our constitution and our sovereignty. The complete text of article two states this, quote, the members of the United Nations agree to accept and carry out the decisions of the UN Security Council in accordance with the present charter.
Should I read it again? The members of the United Nations agree. Now, The United States is a member of the United Nations. It's a founding member. The members of the United Nations agree to accept and carry out the decisions of the UN Security Council in accordance with the present charter. No president or member of Congress who has sworn a solemn oath to abide by the United States Constitution can permit article 25 to dictate US policy. But, of course, we have a number of our elected officials that believe we, our nation, is obligated to deliver forces and arms when The United States when the United Nations calls for it. How about number six? Articles 39 to 51 of the UN Charter authorized the UN to direct US participation in the undeclared, no win Korean War.
Articles 52 to 54 of the UN Charter authorized creation of NATO and SITO as a as UN regional alliances, which led to US involvement in undeclared no win wars in Vietnam and in Afghanistan. Alright. So established in 1945, the UN directed the Korean War, thirty four thousand Americans killed, ninety two thousand wounded. This war has never officially been settled. Formed in 1954, Sea Toad directed the Vietnam War, forty seven thousand Americans killed, and a hundred fifty three thousand wounded. The Vietnam War could have been won, but for restrictions from on high, this war marked the first defeat in our nation's history.
Congress declared neither the Korean War nor the Vietnam War was as required by the US Constitution. You realize that? There hasn't been an actual declaration of war for any of the conflicts that this country has been involved with since night since, World War two. The only reason why The United States was involved in those conflicts, in those two particular wars, Korea and Vietnam, was because of our membership in the United Nations and SITO. 1949, NATO conducted the undeclared no win war in Afghanistan from August 2003 to that makes sense. Oh, yeah. I'm sorry. I missed the punctuation.
So that's what happened. That's why punctuation is important. Established in 1949, NATO conducted the undeclared no win war in Afghanistan from August 2003 to December 2014 as the leader of a UN mandated coalition of 50 nations, which troops. Number seven, UN leaders opposed national sovereignty in favor of a UN led world government. You Fant, nineteen seventy, said this, quote, Lenin's ideals of peace are in line with the aims of the UN Charter. Or how about this one? Boutros Ghali said 1992, quote, the time of absolute and exclusive sovereignty has passed. It's time to rethink the question of sovereignty. How about that?
How about February? Kofi Annan said this, quote, there must be new forms of global governance and global rules. Now think about that. Think about that. Think about that in connection to the World Economic Forum. Think about that when we had the COVID lockdowns and you had all of these mandates that seemed to come out of nowhere. Number eight, State Department officials bow to the United Nations. Secretary of State Dean Acheson, 1949, quote, NATO was designed to fit precisely into the NATO was designed to fit precisely into the framework of the United Nations. Or how about, Secretary of State John Foster Dulles, 1967?
Quote, I have never seen any proposal made for world government or for world federation, which could not be carried out either by the United Nations or under the United Nations charter. 1957. World government, world federation. State department official Richard n Gardner, 1974, said this, quote, in short, the house of world order will have to be built from the bottom up rather than from the top down via an end run around national sovereignty, eroding it piece by piece. It's your state department, 1974. Or how about this, 02/2001, Colin Powell. Remember him? Colin Powell said this, quote, when it comes to our role as a member of the Security Council, we obviously are bound by UN resolutions, and we're not trying to modify that.
Well, that just kinda takes away the sovereignty of the country, doesn't it? Sure does. Number nine. Numerous divisions of the United Nations headquartered in huge buildings throughout the world continue to build the UN's power over all mankind. People thought there was just one UN building in New York City. Right? The UN's organizational chart shows the presence and indicates control of the world body in the fields of education, population, children, women, environment, trade, finance, health, agriculture, labor, military science, culture, atomic power, telecommunications, aviation, industrial development, narcotics, refugees, immigration, property rights, and more.
That pretty much covers almost everything. And, last but not least, number 10, disarmament for all, except of course the United Nations. 1961, the US State Department issued a 19 page booklet entitled, quote, Freedom from War, The US Program for General and Complete Disarmament in a Peaceful World. This document's plan, never withdrawn, by the way, never withdrawn, called for, quote, progressive steps leading to a UN dominated new world order, and it summarizes elements of this frightening plan as follows. A, states would only retain those forces and non nuclear armaments required for maintaining internal order.
So in other words, citizenry can't arm themselves, only the government has the guns. And we saw how that turned out in communist China. The UN Peaceforce, and then communist Russia. The UN Peaceforce equipped with agreed types and quantities of armaments would be fully functioning. So the UN, United Nations Peaceforce, would be the ones with the guns. And we see how morally upright they are, the UN the current UN peacekeeping force that routinely rapes and other horrible things in places like Haiti and such. I digress. The manufacture of armaments would be prohibited except for those agreed types and quantities to be used by the UN Peaceforce.
All other armaments would be destroyed or converted to peaceful purposes. Think of the, plowshares. That's what they're in the book of Isaiah. It's put up on the side of the UN Building in New York. The peacekeeping capabilities of the UN would be sufficiently strong as to assure peace in a disarmed world. I'm just thinking, since the inception of the United Nations, there hasn't been much peace in the world, has there? No. Now, the United Nations is not taking over The United States. What is occurring is that The United States is being delivered to the United Nations, and we have to stop that.
We have to stop it. There's still time to do it, but we have to get out of the United Nations and NATO and SEDO and all those other organizations that we are part of and entangled with. Remember, peace, commerce with all, entangling alliances with none. I'm gonna play for you it's about five minutes or so. And, just just for reference, by the way, the, what I though though that list of 10 that I just read to you and commented on was from an article, The Top 10 Reason to Get Us Out of the United Nations by John F McManus, and it was published in, the John Birch Society bulletin from August 2019.
Just so you know, so you can look it up yourself. So I'm gonna play you a clip here from Senator Mike Lee. Alright. And, and then I'm gonna go over some of this stuff here, and then we're gonna I'll give you I'll tell you how to help out with this whole initiative here to get us out of the UN. So here's Mike Lee introducing the defund act, And that is the act that is being pushed forward to get us out of the United Nations. Here's Mike Lee.

Mister president, in the words of a Simon and Garfunkel song, they sing of a dream in which the world had all agreed to bring an end to war. And they reached this agreement apparently just by signing a single piece of paper. This dream is just a dream, of course. That's not how things are brought about. That's not how lasting peace occurs. But the dream echoes the stated aspirations that led to the creation and eventually the perpetuation of the United Nations. But as history unfolded, this stark reality has not lived up to those lofty aspirations.
We've witnessed failure upon failure, and yet the twentieth century notion of a collective world peace still lingers in the minds of the American foreign policy establishment. It's a notion that believes that somehow US participation and leadership within the United Nations is a foundational pillar of our security and our strength. A glance at the world today, however, reveals the harsh truth. Enduring global peace remains just a dream. While the corridors of the United Nations were designed for diplomacy, it now serves as a place where America's adversaries, people who trample on diplomatic principles and even human dignity itself, To say nothing of national sovereignty, sponsor initiatives that fly in the face of our foundational principles and values.
Just last November, we saw Iran, known for its support of terrorist groups and its systemic targeting of Jewish people, chairing, UN human rights event. Actually, chairing it. Russia and China, nations that challenge our interests and undermine our values at every turn, hold permanent seats on the UN Security Council. China, for its part, also continues to enjoy the benefits of developing nation status, exploiting UN programs and other monetary benefits for questionable gain. Now, The United States, as the UN's largest funder, ends up tacitly supporting these things through its funding.
The largest contributor to the UN's budget is The United States. The Biden administration continues to fund indirectly groups like Hamas through the United Nations Relief and Works Agency, known for its anti Semitic indoctrination. Similarly, the previous administration halted funding for United Nations Population Fund due to its support for coercive abortion practices in China. The bloated bureaucracy of the UN epitomizes the very foreign entanglements that our founding fathers warned against. The global security environment of today underscores the urgency of reasserting American sovereignty. The Defund Act, which I've introduced this week in the Senate, seeks to end US participation in the United Nations system, ensuring that any future attempts to rejoin would require Senate approval.
Now detractors argue that US involvement is essential for our security, and that absence from the UN would somehow diminish our soft power, forcing us to rely solely on military might. These are misleading distractions. The current UN system itself erodes American soft power and compels us to conform our national interest to the whims of the so called rules based international order. This fear mongering overlooks the proven value of bilateral relationships, which are the true bedrock of international diplomacy. At the UN's inception in 1945, President Truman presented a choice between international chaos and the establishment of a world organization for peace.
Yet despite the UN's existence, chaos abounds, adversaries leverage their UN positions, and the goal of peace is overshadowed by the ambition for supranational governance. The true hope for a peaceful world lies not in such global institutions, but in the strength of our national sovereignty, and the use of that strength to forge and continue to foster bilateral relationships around the world. As William Shakespeare said, what win I, if I gain the thing I seek? One must truly ask, what does the United Nations seek? Is it truly peace? I think not. Its actions speak for themselves. Since 1945, The US has slowly surrendered national sovereignty to the UN under the guise of customary international law. And under this broad aspirational goal of somehow bringing peace and harmony through this international organization, an international organization that is itself utterly untethered from the electoral politics of any country.
They very much operate as an island unto themselves once they enter the halls of the UN. Now we in The United States finance a very significant portion of the UN, much of it voluntarily with no obligation to do so. Our generosity has been misused to empower terrorists, foment hate, facilitate coercive practices abroad, and in many, many ways undermine our values. The Defund Act aims to restore American independence from the UN's bureaucracy. It will repeal the foundational participation act, within the UN, the UN Participation Act of 1945, terminate our contributions and participation in peacekeeping operations, and strip UN personnel of diplomatic immunity within The United States.
It'll also remove The United States from the World Health Organization and prohibit reentry into the UN system without the senate's advice and consent. It's time, mister president, that we face reality. The UN has long since ceased to be an effective or responsible steward of our resources. It's time for America to lead through strength and sovereignty, not through subservience to an organization that no longer serves our interests, much less the interest of a realizable lasting peace. Thank you, mister president.
[01:52:20] Unknown:
Well, I know that was a long clip, and I I wanted you to hear the whole thing. So senator Lee makes some excellent, excellent points, and I'm going to, I'm gonna screen share this with you. I'll bring this up right here. So this is from the, John Birch Society website, and you can go over to, the jbs.org/alert. Get us out of the UN, and, you can find out more information about this. So, basically, what it says here, the United Nations is one of the greatest threats of US national sovereignty and the God given freedoms of Americans. It's imperative that Congress enact the Defund Act, HR fourteen ninety eight and s six six nine to get us out of the UN and all its associated entities. They also provide you links that you could so what you could do here is you could very easily, just click that take action now button, and it'll take you to a site where you could, you can send a pre written letter, or you can actually post a message on, on on your x account, or you can, message your elected representatives, through your x account. And it's important because, as you see here, legislation to get us out of the get us out of the UN has been introduced into the current one nineteenth Congress, under HR fourteen ninety eight and s six sixty nine, both titled the disengaging entirely from the United Nations debacle or the Defund Act.
They're, respectively cosponsored by representative Chip Roy and senator Mike Lee. It's our best opportunity in decades to restore US sovereignty by actually getting us out of the entire UN system. Folks, you need to urge your representative and senators to support and cosponsor, the Defund Act, and to enact the the Defund Act. It's extremely important. Peace goes on to say, the United Nations is one of the greatest threats to The US national sovereignty and God given freedoms of Americans. It's imperative that Congress enact legislation to fully withdraw The United States from the UN and all its associated entities. And again, according to this press release, from the office of, Senator Lee, the Defund Act would do the following, repeal critical acts that bind The US to the UN, such as United Nations Participation Act of 1945 and the United Nations Headquarters Agreement Act, ceases all forms of US finance support to the UN, including voluntary contributions, prohibits any US involvement in UN peacekeeping operations.
Not that they really do any peacekeeping. Revokes diplomatic immunity for UN officials within The US, formalizes withdrawal from the World Health Organization and other UN conventions, sets stringent conditions for any future engagement with the UN, requiring Senate approval with explicit withdrawal provisions. So, this is this is very important folks. Alright. It's extremely important. So, contact your local contact your elected representative and let them know that you are in support of this. We need to get out of the United Nations. We need to decouple from all of these entangling alliances. You heard senator Lee mention it himself.
This is not what our founding generation would have wanted for our country. So please, this is extremely important. This is a this is a major step, a major step in defending our national sovereignty. I hate using that term national because it's not one nation. I'm sorry. We're a union of states. I I get it. I'm just so conditioned to say nation nation and national and all that stuff, but you understand what I'm saying? It it's important to preserve the independence and freedom of our American union. So the link is up there on your screen. If you would, please go check it out. Sign up.
