Good morning. Good morning, Faye and Al. In the cross

Good morning, Vietnam. Howdy. It's Monday, 02/24/2025. We're gonna try something new. Didn't have much time to do any any podcast this weekend. So let's dive into the, Herald Standard today. First off, Zach Petroff, funds for Sheepskin Sheepskin Trail, topic of discussion at commissioner's meeting. Fayette County commissioners approved several items related to the Sheepskin Trail, including accepting 2,500,000.0 federal funds for the Uniontown connection. Well, look at that. A two to one vote last Thursday. Commissioners Vincent Vicides and Scott Dunn approved the 2,000,000 federal reimbursement agreement for funds that will be released in 2027.
Commissioner Dave Lohr voted against the move, citing the need to address more pressing issues. Well, Dave Lohr, congratulations. Zero county funds have been provided for this. It was PennDOT funding and working with Southwestern Pennsylvania Commission SPC to get this funding to complete the Uniontown section of the Sheepskin Trail, city said. Dunn said funds from the project would also improve four intersections, including repairs and modifications to traffic lights throughout the city. He said the money is part of a pass through grant, which means it's a federal grant that is given to intermediary like PennDOT and the SPC. Those agencies distribute the money to the county, and the county will disperse the funding to Uniontown as well. I tell you what. There's some USAID going to work for you. The Sheepskin Trail improvements, and they're going to improve for intersections and and modifications to traffic lights throughout the city. I'm guessing they're going to put in cameras so that they can catch you doing something wrong. Oh, what's next?
Refusing to comply. Key agencies choose not to follow the latest demand from Musk. Well, Associated Press. Just more same bullshit about Elon Musk. Blah blah blah. He's not doing what's right. Blah blah blah. It's a constitutional crisis. Okay. Penn State Fayette student takes on a leadership role doing during collegiate career. In his time as a student at Penn State Fayette, the Eberly campus, Joshua Krauss has become quite the leader. He's displayed that as as speaker of the Commonwealth, the role in which he advocates for students at all 19 Penn State campuses. It's something he hopes to take in the future as well as he seeks a career in manufacturing or production man management.
Well, that's a worthy career, production management, I'll say. Good job, Krauss. Twenty three, graduated from Penn State Fayette in May 2024 with a bachelor of science degree in electromechanical engineering technology and a minor in business. Well, those two, I can definitely say, are gonna take you far, buddy. He looks like a fine, upstanding young man. Congratulations. Today in history, three of the 13 Amish fathers charged with violating Pennsylvania's compulsory school law for refusing to send their children to a new school in Morgantown, PA on 02/24/1960. The fathers, not identified, claimed the $2,000,000 Twin Valley Junior Senior High School at Honey Brook, PA is too worldly and distracting.
Well, time has proved that you, sir, were correct. They are shown at a hearing before a justice of the peace who postpone the hearing one week. Well, we'd have to look up, see how that turned out. But we know that they were right. Send your kids to public school, you end up with dumb kids. Look at me. In 1942, the SS Sturma charter ship attempting to carry nearly 800 Jewish refugees from Romania to British British mandated Palestine was torpedoed by a Soviet submarine in the Black Sea. All but one of the refugees died. They went on to become one of the Fujis.
Little known fact. Twenty twenty two, Russia began a full scale invasion of Ukraine, launching air strikes on cities and military bases and sending troops and tanks from multiple directions. Full scale invasion of Ukraine. Yeah. I remember hearing that over and over again. You were also told that the Ukrainians were winning that war for most of the time when they it was clearly not true. If If you would have taken your head out of your ass, you would have known that the Ukrainians were getting their asses whipped from the very beginning. They had no chance against Russia, and your government kept telling you that they had a chance and they stole your money while they did it. Congratulations.
Celebrity birthdays. Edward James Olmos is 78. George Thoroughgood is 75, and he's still bad to the bone. Baseball hall of famer Eddie Murray is 69. Oh, dear Heloise, cleaning spider residue off a dock. Dear Heloise, I live in a waterfront home on a lake and I have a large dock on the water. During the summer, we get hundreds of spiders on the ceiling and walls of the structure. Where there are spiders, there's poop and black spots that are difficult to remove. But no more. I mix one third cup of ammonia and two thirds cup of water in a spray bottle. So some emoji and water.
Soon as the spray hits the poop, it dissolves. Then I just spray it again with a hose, and it's clean as ever. Well, good news for all you people who have docks out there. Well, in the water. I'm guessing that doesn't apply to a lot of you. I guess, if the aura of spiders are pooping in your basement, you could try the same thing. Weed killer. Dear Hellowise, to kill weeds, just add salt to some vinegar. This will do the trick and kill the root. Ceramic wax cleaner. Jesus. Dear Hellowise, having worked as an auto detailer when I was a teenager, I've always paid attention to products on the market to make detailing easier, make my car leak look even more beautiful. I read a letter in your column where a reader contacted a company about using a ceramic cleaner that was intended for cooktops, but the company advised against using it on dishware and other items like cars. For the past three or four years, I've been using a newer product that is ceramic wax for your vehicle and leads to a nice water repellent finish that shines like crazy. While I wouldn't use it on the dishes, I have used it on everything in my house and all of my sinks, stainless steel appliances, countertops, my glass range top, and even my fiberglass stall shower and molded bathtub. A word of caution, never use it on any floors or you'll be skating around like Dorothy Hamill.
Oh, boy. Petroleum jelly uses. Dear Heloise, earlier today, my handyman told me that when I replace a light bulb, I should rub a little petroleum jelly on the threads and make it easier to install and remove. Skin care routines. As a dermatologist, I see a lot of people who are careless about keeping their skin clean. Don't use an oil or a face cream to remove anything but the most difficult, eye makeup. Otherwise, just use mild soap and water and wash your face only using the pads of your fingers in a gentle circular motion. You could also wrap a piece of fabric, not vinyl, around them and use it to brush anything off, and it will disappear. Don't forget your neck.
Protect your neck when using using moisturizer. Commentary. Good start for Trump, or is he missing the mark? Oh, there's the local mini bike crew. Ruining the podcast. I 70 lane restrictions scheduled for Monday. A portion of the Interstate 70 in Ross Draver Township, Westmoreland County will be restricted to a single lane on Monday. Well, that's Westmoreland County. We're living in Fayette. It's our favorite freaking county. It'll be in effect between 9AM and 3PM. The work is part of the Interstate 70 project to widen and reconstruct I 70 and reconstruct the Route 51 interchange. The project will cost a hundred and 20,000,000 and be completed in October 2027.

Cindy was born 03/18/1942 in Uniontown to the late Stephen and Janet junk Janet junk Sedlock. She was also preceded in death by a son, Christopher Bolen, a sister Bonnie Wright, and a brother Robert Sedlock. Back to the trail. On Friday, Lore reiterated his reasons for voting against trail funding stating no taxpayer money, local, state, or federal, should go towards luxury expenditures. I won't support taxpayer funded trails because their costs are excessive. At 600,000 to 700,000 a mile, I can't justify that, especially when taxpayers are struggling. While president Donald Trump and his team are looking at federal spending, Vicides and Dunn say they were confident the grant would still come to Fayette.
I'm not concerned, Viciti said. There's a contract already signed, and I don't think our funding will be impacted. Lour said that he believes it's possible at least some of the funds may be withheld. Think Donald Trump's gonna come down here and put a stop to the Chiefkin Trail? I'd like to see it. South Union Township awarded $2,400,000 grant by John Andreassi. South Union Township was awarded 2,400,000.0 grant last week for improvements to Matthew Drive. Oh, well, definitely gotta do that. Why don't the businesses over at Matthew Drive put money towards the upkeep?
I guess some will say that they do in the form of taxes. The grant came as a result of successful application from the township to the Appalachian Regional Commission's ARC local access road program. Township manager Maxine Maximo Legros. Maxine Maximo Legros, said 1.23 miles of Matthew Road Matthew Drive, not Matthew Road, will be milled and resurfaced. Inlets and storm sewer pipes will also be replaced. The project will also entail improving accessibility to McClonton Road, New Salem Road, and National Pike. What you ought to do is fix that damn turn over there going from Route 21 to 119.
It's like a long sweeping arc that right at the end you gotta make a left hand turn at. I've never seen anything like it. It's probably the worst, road improvement thing that's ever been done. Fix that. Leo. Horoscopes. July 3 twenty third to August 22. Pay attention, and you'll be privy to information that can help you advance. Short term offer should be looked at with skepticism. Put your energy where it brings the highest returns. Well, ain't this podcast? Not much there today. Let's look at the sports section. Just dudes sliding over top of each other, wrestling.
Another jumpy guy with a basketball. Weather, today, 53. Low, 39. Mix of clouds and sunshine throughout the day. Boy, they were right. Tomorrow, Tuesday, '49 and thirty six. Rain showers early, then overcast skies. It looks like a pretty typical, winter day in Pennsylvania. Oh, look at this. California governor. That's California. Big California. Not not little California. California governor asked Congress for nearly 40,000,000,000 for Los Angeles wildfire relief. Come on, you have the largest you have the largest economy in the world besides the, or one of the largest economies in the world besides The United States and you still need to ask for help from the United States government? Come on, Newsom.
Where's all the money? California governor Gavin Newsom has asked congress to approve nearly 40,000,000,000 in aid to help the Los Angeles area recover from January's devastating wildfires, which he said could become the costliest natural disaster in US history. I wonder why. It's probably climate change. Let's read on. Newsom sent a letter Friday asking for support from lawmakers, including house speaker Mike Johnson and rep Tom Cole. The house appropriations committee chair. Hold on. Let's try that again. Newsom sent a letter Friday asking for support from lawmakers, including house speaker Mike Johnson and rep Tom Cole, the house appropriations committee chair. Los Angeles is one of the most economically productive places on the globe, but can all it can only rebound and flourish with support from the federal government as it recovers from this unprecedented disaster, Newsom wrote. That sounds like bullshit.
It sounds like you've wasted all the money that's been given to you over the years and that you've raised from your tax base. You're one of the richest states in The United States and yet you have no tax money? Where's the money? Where's the money? Give us some money, Lebowski. Come on, Newsom. Where's all the money for the, for the light rail from Sacramento to Los Angeles trying to tie the whole state together? Look into it. There's a bridge out there. It pretty much goes nowhere. It's in the middle of the desert. It does nothing. They've been talking about this thing for fifteen years. Nobody's built a damn thing yet. Plus all the homeless people.
Why does California have so many homeless people? It's probably because of the weather, but, I know they started a task force to get rid of the or to, do something with the homeless, yet nothing has happened. Estimates of the total economic loss from the firestorm have been estimated to surpass 250,000,000,000, with real estate losses from the Palisades and Eaton fires predicted to potentially top 30,000,000,000. According to Los Angeles Times analysis, 16,200 structures were destroyed as flames ripped through Pacific Palisades, Malibu, Pasadena, and Altadena. Newsom vowed that the funding would be used to rebuild homes, infrastructure, businesses, schools, churches, and health care facilities while supporting the needs of people affected by devastation. Make no mistake. Los Angeles will use this money wisely, Newsom wrote.
Yeah. Thou doth protest too much. His largest request is for an additional $816,800,000,000.0 from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, mostly intended for the rebuilding of property and infrastructure, with 5,000,000,000 earmarked for debris cleanup. Newsom also asked for 9,900,000,000.0 from the Department of Housing and Urban Development for grants to fire victims, homeowners, and businesses, and renters, as well as 5,290,000,000.00 from the Small Business Administration for homeowner and business loans. Newsom thanked president Donald Trump for support for fast tracking debris removal.
The letter did not mention recent threats by the Trump administration that federal aid could come with strings attached. We are eternally grateful, Newsom said. Trump has been a frequent critic of Newsom, California's water policies. Rick Grenell, a Trump ally serving as his envoy for special missions, said Friday that there will be conditions to any federal aid for the state. He said one of these possible conditions being discussed was defunding the coast, California Coastal Commission, which regulates coastal development and protects public beach access. Trump has criticized the agency as overly restrictive, bureaucratic, and a hindrance to timely rebuilding efforts.
Yeah. More to come from that. We'll have to follow that one. There's nothing. That's about it for today. That's it. That's all there is, people. Let's try something new. Let's see if we can do this. Okay. Let's go to a little world news.
[00:19:08] Unknown:
Thank you, mister chairman. I wanna echo your comments from your introduction. What a difference several years makes. And while the censorship industrial complex is on the run, it is not gone. And to that, I just say thank God for Donald Trump. Thank God for Elon Musk. Thank God for Doge because we're uncovering that just where the tax dollars are going to fund the censorship industrial complex. Mister Shellenberger, the UN finances initiatives related to misinformation management or support, supports government funding and third party development of censorship tools and technologies. Correct? Yes. And you're aware that US taxpayer dollars have been used by the UN to develop and implement an AI assisted fact checking tool to label speech as misinformation, disinformation, and malinformation, toxic, or hate speech. Correct? These are very disturbing. In fact, in 2021, the US gave the UN Do you think do you think misinformation,
[00:20:07] Unknown:
disinformation, and malinformation are real things? I mean, are there people out there that really think that you don't have the freedom to say whatever you would like? I mean, I'll I'll never get the argument that says you can that there is speech that harms people. All there is is you have the freedom of speech. What whatever you say, any any any information you take in, whether it's wrong, It's your job to discern what is what is correct. Now I can see I guess people worry because there's I guess, there's the the ability for outside actors to mold people's mold people's thoughts and actions through social media, using, I guess, disinformation, but, you know, sometimes you just gotta let the chips fall where they may. I mean, this is your job to be able to discern between what's true and what's false.
I mean, I would say gather all information and then make your decision based on everything that you've did research on. Let's have some more.
[00:21:36] Unknown:
On the program, a hundred and $90,000,000 in taxpayer dollars, and I verify what they've developed has been tested in five countries, Kenya, Honduras, Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Zambia, and it's intended to expand to more countries. Does that concern you? Extremely. US the UN has also partnered with other other players in the censorship industrial complex, including CrowdTangle, a Facebook meta connected fact checking tool. Needen got $250,000 from the National Science Foundation for identifying and countering misinformation on closed messaging platforms. An international fact checking network, IFCN, a grant and fellowship making organization to help fact checkers, solution providers, and other eligible organizations launch new and innovative fact checking programs and initiatives.
Do you see iVerify as part of a larger global trend towards centralized control over information?
[00:22:29] Unknown:
Yeah. And we didn't have a chance to get to it, but, you know, USAID has been pushing digital IDs that would tie people's bank accounts to their social media profiles. I mean, it's out of Black Mirror. I mean, the idea would be that they'd be able to police and potentially de bank you for something that you said online. It's extremely disturbing and I was just kinda shaking my head because after two years of this, we just keep discovering more censorship initiatives.
[00:22:51] Unknown:
Do you see how this goes? At first, you're just checking, misinformation and disinformation, and next, you're tying people's, ability to purchase goods and services to their bank accounts or, to to their social media accounts and to what they say online. The if this doesn't scare every person, you know, and if you're if you're honest with yourself, this should this should scare an American, like a real patriot. You know, a real Fayette County would be upset about this. You shouldn't want daddy government to come in and, be able to tell people how to live their lives and what they can or cannot say. This this I verify thing, this takes us down a road that that I don't think a lot of people understand where it ends. Like, this gives the government total control over your life.
[00:23:49] Unknown:
Hey. In different agencies, the UN, USAID. I mean, it's it's madness. It's terrifying. You you agree.
[00:23:56] Unknown:
Programs like E Verify and the one I Verify, the one you just mentioned as well could be weaponized by authoritarian governments to silence dissent. And and you've seen By our government. As well. And, well, of course, by our government as well. And, miss Subramania, you've seen this as well.
[00:24:13] Unknown:
Absolutely. I've seen the weaponization of, government to go after innocent people in my own country in Canada. The truckers protest of twenty twenty two was a great example of that where people's my friend. People who protested, they were debanked. So if you were a grandmother somewhere donating $50 to the protest, you were frozen out of the financial system. And it's it has
[00:24:38] Unknown:
See, this this is where it becomes a problem is because just because you weren't on the side of the Canadian truckers, you definitely should not have supported them being de banked. If you're doing that, you you're you're very shortsighted because what do you think happens whenever what you're saying isn't an approved narrative? Whenever what you're saying is no longer the approved narrative, then they're coming after you and what you say. This is why everybody should resist this type of thing.
[00:25:19] Unknown:
In fact, to the point that people are now afraid of having their voices heard. They they're afraid to express themselves because of consequences of expressing yourself freely. In a country like Canada, a g seven country, people are afraid to speak out. And I've only seen this in authoritarian countries that I've lived in. And that is something that cons should concern us all. And it's happening here.
[00:25:47] Unknown:
And And and it's up to us to lead. Absolutely. Do you think that the Biden Harris administration's hostility toward free speech contributed to the increased attacks on free speech we were seeing abroad, including pressure by foreign governments against American companies to censor lawful speech? Absolutely.
[00:26:02] Unknown:
I'm glad you asked that question, representative Klein. When Elon Musk's free speech rights were being attacked, and they're still being attacked by the EU under the Digital Services Act, there was silence from the Biden administration. You know what that did? That sent a strong message to the rest of the world that the administration could not be relied on to retaliate against governments that suppress the free speech rights of Americans.
[00:26:26] Unknown:
Nego.
[00:26:27] Unknown:
Full message. And that's not good.
[00:26:30] Unknown:
Absolutely. We have to continue to lead. I'm glad president Trump's leading. I'm glad Elon Musk is leading. I've got a bill end to end. Crossroads of despair.
[00:26:40] Unknown:
A lot of people say that, the the Biden administration, did not try to suppress people's free speech, that it was the social media companies. Black the government put a lot of pressure on these social media companies to censor, anything against their approved narrative. So you can see how this got out of control very quickly. In the rear Alright. Well, that's all there is for today. The joy
[00:27:05] Unknown:
in the struggle, in the broken and the few good morning fading on. Let's laugh through the pain. We're still here, still fighting. Our strength still remain. Good morning, Vietnam. Let's get started. Good morning, Faye Nam. Let's laugh through the pain. We're still here, still fighting. Our strength still remains. Good morning, Faye Nam. Let's get started.
