In this thrilling episode of Alien Worlds, we find ourselves at the Arthur C. Clarke Astronomical Observatory STAR Lab, where Dr. Maura Cassidy and her team are on high alert. As Captain Jack Remus seeks permission to dock for refueling, tensions rise with reports of unidentified ships shadowing freighters near Jupiter. Major Ben Corbin and his team of interceptors are dispatched to investigate, leading to a series of dramatic events that blur the lines between science fiction and reality.
As the story unfolds, a powerful radio transmission disrupts the fail-safe systems of Corbin's interceptors, suggesting an attack on Earth from Mars. The confusion escalates when attempts to contact STAR Lab and ISA headquarters fail, leading to a tragic confrontation with the Turalyon Command Center on Mars. The episode explores themes of communication breakdowns, the consequences of military action, and the thin line between fact and fiction, all set against the backdrop of interstellar intrigue and adventure.

And now, Peter Paul Mounds, Almond Joy, and Cadbury Chocolate Bars presents Alien Worlds. Slowly rotating at the edge of deep space, 1,000 kilometers beyond the atmosphere of twenty first century Earth, is the Arthur C. Clarke Astronomical Observatory STAR Lab. Here, STAR Lab research director Doctor. Maura Cassidy and scientists and technicians of the International Space Authority, ISA, watch over the countless stars and planets that cure the silent distances beyond the giant space station. It is 11/03/2028, as this week's episode, the kilohertz war, reminds us how suddenly and mysteriously one man's science fiction can become another man's science fact, on the threshold of alien worlds.

StarLab control. This is captain Jack Remus commanding the Royal British Museum fighter, Nile Delta. Registry number 98078.
[00:01:54] Unknown:
This is StarLab. Go ahead, Nile Delta.
[00:01:57] Unknown:
I know we're not expected, but we'd like permission to dock.
[00:02:00] Unknown:
What's the problem, captain?
[00:02:02] Unknown:
The bloody technician unit at Gatwick called a strike while we were still on the pad. Our line crew woke up before they finished refueling us. We'd like to top off our liquid oxygen tanks.
[00:02:14] Unknown:
Another strike at Gatwick. Third time this year, isn't it?
[00:02:18] Unknown:
It's the third. How about it, mate? Can you spare a drop or two of an old LOX?
[00:02:23] Unknown:
What's your destination, captain?
[00:02:26] Unknown:
We're transporting the Kingsford exhibits of Thanatos, part of a cultural exchange program.
[00:02:32] Unknown:
Standby. Alright, Nile Delta. I have you on the screen. What's your STAR Lab ETA?
[00:02:40] Unknown:
Six minutes eighteen seconds.
[00:02:43] Unknown:
Six plus eighteen. Roger. Nile Delta, your docking orbit insertion coordinates are niner niner six at two zero seven degrees, docking bay sixteen. A refueling crew will be standing by.
[00:02:58] Unknown:
We'll try to keep them from going on strike before we get there. Okay?
[00:03:02] Unknown:
Don't worry, captain. Starlab is a nonunion shock.
[00:03:06] Unknown:
Well, thank God for that. Now, now that's out.
[00:03:12] Unknown:
Bay 16,
[00:03:13] Unknown:
there's a British freighter coming in for refueling. ETA six minutes. Roger.
[00:03:22] Unknown:
Hi, Mara. Hi, Jerry. Have Have you heard from Major Corbin yet? Yeah. About a half an hour ago. He was just leaving Jupiter space. What's going on out there, Mara? Some unidentifieds have been shadowing the freighters taking Xillium ore off Callisto. The ISA thinks they're mineral pirates. Commissioner White sent Corbin's space exploration team to check it out.
[00:03:40] Unknown:
You wanna hear his transmission? I have the recording right here. Alright. Let's give it a listen.
[00:03:46] Unknown:
Zodiac one, the star lab control.
[00:03:49] Unknown:
This is STARLab. Go ahead, Zodiac one.
[00:03:52] Unknown:
This is Major Ben Corbin commanding a flight of three GCP Mirage class interceptors. Pirate suspects identified as Lebensian renegades. In case two of them. One destroyed, one damaged. No casualties on-site. Hamlet squadron remaining on patrol in the vicinity of Calisto, other half now departing Jupiter's space. ETA and Starkegon Security Station twenty one thirty R. This is Major Corbin's zodiac. Why not?
[00:04:22] Unknown:
Well, he certainly comes right to the point, doesn't he? You know him? But I've heard John and Buddy mention him a couple of times. I can't remember why, but I do remember they weren't smiling. Here, let me have the cassette, Jerry. I'll be talking to commissioner White in a few minutes. I may as well play it for him. There you go. Thanks, Jerry. See you later. So long, Maura.
[00:04:51] Unknown:
Security station twenty one thirty hours. This is a major corporate Zodiac one out.
[00:04:59] Unknown:
That's it commissioner
[00:05:01] Unknown:
thanks for getting to me so fast more is there anything else we should talk about
[00:05:08] Unknown:
the tape you set up concerning the trillion military exercises on Mars I thought Turalyon was anti military.
[00:05:15] Unknown:
And she is more of a two planets in the system have declared war on each other. And Turalyon sitting right in the middle. They're working up a tactical space force to protect themselves. They hate to do it, but they have no choice.
[00:05:29] Unknown:
Why are they testing on Mars?
[00:05:31] Unknown:
Well, it's not the sphere of Terellium compatible for one thing, and it's uninhabited for another. You see, Terellium is very densely populated. They didn't wanna take a chance of earning any other people if an experimental weapon malfunctioned or one of their prototypes have crashed.
[00:05:48] Unknown:
Sounds like they've got a lot of soul as well as a lot of sense.
[00:05:53] Unknown:
Yes. Well, I better sign off no more and try to get home. A lot of wind and snow blowing around outside and you know what New Chicago is like during a prison.
[00:06:03] Unknown:
Alright, commissioner. Bundle up and beware of little boys chucking snowballs. Starlow Communications out.
[00:06:21] Unknown:
Major carbon. It's coming through on the Earth disaster frequency now, and it just tripped the override on the fail safe attack circuit. Punch it up in here.
[00:06:31] Unknown:
Of the Vanguard of an invading army in the planet Mars. An emergency. San Diego burned into the explosion. Military operation. 2,000 feet. Before we see After unleashing their deadly assault This is capital answering of the evacuation.
[00:06:48] Unknown:
Let go. Communication. I told the ISA not to allow those aliens to run loose on Mars. Have you been able to raise StarLab yet? No, sir. And we've been trying for over an hour now. The Turellians probably took out StarLab on their way to Earth. Alright, captain. Flash the pre combat alert to the other ships. We're going to Mars.
[00:07:17] Unknown:
Hidden worlds will continue.
[00:07:27] Unknown:
This woman's sorry for keeping you guessing. You never know what
[00:08:39] Unknown:
Alien worlds continues. Given permission by the ISA to experiment with defensive spacecraft in the Martian atmosphere, Torellia sends 200 prototype gunships to the red planet for testing. 10 later, three Mirage class SET interceptors receive a powerful radio transmission as they leave Jupiter space. The transmission overrides their Earth disaster frequency and fail safe attack circuits and is filled with the confusion of voices describing an attack on Earth from Mars.
[00:09:19] Unknown:
Yes. The planet. Then the planet Mars, the green of ours is its own flight. It's just
[00:09:24] Unknown:
Five minutes after the transmission is received, major Ben Corbin, who commands the interceptors, orders his executive officer to contact StarLab for confirmation of the attack.
[00:09:38] Unknown:
Have you been able to raise STARLab yet? No, sir. And we've been trying for over an hour now. The Turalians probably took out STARLab on their way to Earth. Alright, captain. Flash the pre combat alert to other ships. We're going to Mars. Open a close proximity channel. I wanna talk to the other ships. Yes, sir. Go ahead, major. This is major Corbin. You all all know what the situation is and what our choices are. You also know that it's the responsibility of a commanding officer to decide which choice is best. But these are extraordinary circumstances.
So I believe the decision to either continue on to Mars or to return to base should be shared by all of us. So when I finish this transmission, take a vote. Flight crews and offices alike, it's up to you. Zodiac one out. You're looking unusually tense, captain. What's the problem?
[00:10:37] Unknown:
I'll go see how our crew feels about your pep talk, Major.
[00:10:42] Unknown:
Pep talk? Is that what it was?
[00:10:45] Unknown:
I'll be back in a few minutes.
[00:10:50] Unknown:
Captain O'Neil, Major. We're ready whenever you are. Thanks, Bill. This is captain Dan Seager. We're with you all the way.
[00:10:58] Unknown:
I knew I could count on you, Ray. Well, what's the verdict, captain?
[00:11:07] Unknown:
Pearson thinks we should return to base and wait for orders. Mhmm. What about the others? They're willing to go for it. Fine. What about you? I'm inclined to agree with Pearson. Why? Well, on a strictly legal level, any kind of military action without direct orders is a violation of the ISA charter. Mhmm. With the exception of self defense.
[00:11:30] Unknown:
What else?
[00:11:32] Unknown:
I don't think we have enough evidence to prove that the Earth is actually under attack. Let's hold off until we can authenticate the transmission.
[00:11:40] Unknown:
That transmission's been coming through for two hours now. And during those two hours, we haven't been able to contact STAR Lab or get a single response from the ISA on Earth. That is authenticity
[00:11:51] Unknown:
enough for me. Alright. Suppose the Earth is under attack. 70 to one odds isn't retaliation. It's suicide.
[00:11:58] Unknown:
Come on now, captain. You can be critical without being insubordinate. I don't know. Maybe I can't. Where's the line? It would help if you try to be a little more objective, captain.
[00:12:08] Unknown:
It's a military issue. It's not an emotional one. Well, I guess that's the difference between us, Major, isn't it? You're objective, so you put your faith in action. I'm not, so I put mine in reaction.
[00:12:19] Unknown:
What sort of reaction are you having?
[00:12:22] Unknown:
There's something wrong about this whole incident. You're right, captain.
[00:12:27] Unknown:
There is something wrong. There's a war on between Torellia and Earth. Objective, subjective, or otherwise. That is a fact.
[00:12:44] Unknown:
Flying in a tight triangular formation, the tips of the delta shaped wings merely touching. The three sleek white interceptors of major Corbin zodiac flight execute a 360 degree roll and rocket away toward Mars. Meanwhile, on the surface of the desolate red planet, the freezing winds of Martian winter blow a stinging mist of iron oxide dust across Cicropia. A vast plain, located at the zero meridian coordinates of seventy degrees latitude, three hundred ten degrees longitude. In the middle of the windswept plain lies the Turalyon command center. Seven transparent green domes, whose faceted emerald surfaces fracture the pink light of the late afternoon sun.
Standing near the domes, on legs that seem too fragile to support them, are 60 Turalyon gunships in the shape of huge chromium dragonflies. Outside the central Turalyon dome, Commander Arc Sathos stands looking up at the bleak Martian sky. His long, yellow pleated cloak swirling around him. His delicate lungs protected from the iron oxide storm by the black filter mask covering his face.
[00:14:30] Unknown:
Like Sappho's, the purification elements on our masks are nearly saturated.
[00:14:35] Unknown:
It's time we return to the dome. The second and third air garrisons. Garrisons. Where are they, Simpapa? They should have returned by now.
[00:14:44] Unknown:
The planet is larger than we thought, and the targets we selected are in a night region. Our ships have never flown in darkness before.
[00:14:53] Unknown:
Have you seen to the one that fell onto the ice cap?
[00:14:57] Unknown:
Three surface crawlers have been dispatched to bring it here.
[00:15:01] Unknown:
How many of our flyers were killed?
[00:15:04] Unknown:
We won't know until the has reached the impact site.
[00:15:09] Unknown:
Sumbawa, Turalia was never meant to be What's that, though? Take me into the dome. My mask, the elements have terminated.
[00:15:31] Unknown:
As Simparva rushes his commander into the protection of the central dome, Major Corben's SET Zodiac flight enters the Martian atmosphere. Descending to 300 meters above the red planet's surface, the three interceptors jet toward the Turalyon Command Center, two thousand kilometers away.
[00:15:55] Unknown:
Zodiac one to Zodiac flight. Mid range scanners confirm target interlock. Target description, seven low density, low profile structures, and 60 high density spacecraft. Activate laser turrets and shielding generators on my mark. Marked.
[00:16:16] Unknown:
This is Zodiac six, and we have torquing our confirmed laser and generator punches. This is I-three. Okay. On target airlock. Okay. On laser turns and shielding generators.
[00:16:29] Unknown:
Maintain present course and speed. We'll be over the target in forty four minutes. Zodiac one, clear. How you feeling? Captain any better? You know how I
[00:16:43] Unknown:
feel. Don't worry. You'll get over it.
[00:16:55] Unknown:
Solaris to StarLab control. Solaris to StarLab control. Oh, come on, Jerry. It's us. Your old pal through thick and and thin. SVP captains Buddy Griffin, John Graydon. Jerry?
[00:17:17] Unknown:
Go ahead, Solaris.
[00:17:19] Unknown:
Yeah, Jerry. Where you been?
[00:17:20] Unknown:
Down in engineering. All our communications were knocked out about three hours ago. We just got back on the air. What happened? According to professor Crane, a pulsar somewhere went supernova and flashed back all the radio signals that had collected in this gravitational field. You should have been here, it was really a buzz.
[00:17:39] Unknown:
Speaking of buzzes, is Mara there? We've got a present for her.
[00:17:43] Unknown:
She and Professor Crane are up in data processing, resynchronizing the sidereal time terminals on the computer.
[00:17:49] Unknown:
Hey, have you got a docking bay open? Our EPA is nine minutes.
[00:17:55] Unknown:
Docking bay twenty three, buddy. Docking orbit insertion coordinate 671 At 2 0 8 Degrees.
[00:18:02] Unknown:
Thanks, Terry.
[00:18:15] Unknown:
Hello, Mora. Hi, buddy. Good to see you. How's it going? Jerry told us what happened. We just finished.
[00:18:22] Unknown:
And what's in the box? It's a present from Phil Maxwell
[00:18:25] Unknown:
Here, be careful, don't spill it Oh, it's beautiful
[00:18:30] Unknown:
What is it? It's a fish, Mora
[00:18:33] Unknown:
Yes, I can see that
[00:18:35] Unknown:
But what kind? It's a flarn, a cerinium glow fish Phil picked up a couple on Kronos. He thought you'd like to have one for your aquarium.
[00:18:43] Unknown:
That was really nice of him. Does it have a name? Yeah.
[00:18:47] Unknown:
Winston.
[00:18:48] Unknown:
A flar named Winston? That's right. Well,
[00:18:52] Unknown:
does Winston need any special food or anything like that? Yeah. My wife has one in her aquarium, Mara. Just put him in the water and forget about him. Blowfish live on light.
[00:19:03] Unknown:
Doctor Cassidy, this is communications. What is it, Molly? We're monitoring the intership transmission for major carbon zodiac flight. They've just detected Turalyon command center on Mars. On Mars? I'll be right up. Here, professor. Hold my
[00:19:22] Unknown:
fish.
[00:19:24] Unknown:
Alien worlds will continue.
[00:19:28] Unknown:
Pardon me. Isn't that a Cadbury chocolate bar? I've never tried one. That's too bad. Do you mind if I have a teensy piece?
[00:19:36] Unknown:
Hey. You took my bar. I'll just take a little bit. It was for my wife and me. Oh, she'll love it.
[00:19:42] Unknown:
See this is great. You know you can get carried away with this stuff? Yes I've noticed. Oh come on it's a big bar. It's getting smaller. When people get a taste of a big thick Cadbury chocolate bar, they get very carried away, because only a Cadbury bar is so rich, so creamy, so Cadbury. And with the big size Cadbury chocolate bar, you get a big choice. Cadbury fruit and nut, Cadbury almond, Cadbury caramel, and of course the big favorite Cadbury milk chocolate. So remember, when you get your Cadbury, be careful because with Cadbury people can get very carried away.
[00:20:23] Unknown:
Can I have my Cadbury back now? Your Cadbury?
[00:20:27] Unknown:
Oh. Well, I guess I got carried away. You will get carried away with Cadbury.
[00:20:45] Unknown:
Alien worlds continues. A powerful radio transmission has tripped the fail safe attack systems of three SCT interceptors. A transmission filled with distorted human voices describing an attack on the Earth from Mars. When StarLab and ISA headquarters on Earth failed to acknowledge his calls for confirmation of the attack, Major Ben Corbin reaches a tragic conclusion. The alien assault is real.
[00:22:12] Unknown:
Simparva,
[00:22:13] Unknown:
where did they come from? They were flying too fast for our senses.
[00:22:18] Unknown:
We had no warning. Have you tried to contact them? They don't respond.
[00:22:25] Unknown:
Then we have no other choice but to defend ourselves. Open the barrage domes, inform our gunners that this is a lethal engagement.
[00:22:44] Unknown:
Zodiac leader to Zodiac white. Regroup at one seven nine. Switch over to target grid yellow, and we'll go around again.
[00:22:52] Unknown:
Starlight to Zodiac one. Star
[00:22:55] Unknown:
I knew we should have waited. I knew it.
[00:22:58] Unknown:
StarLab, this is Zodiac one. Go ahead.
[00:23:01] Unknown:
What are you doing, major? Get out of there now.
[00:23:05] Unknown:
Captain captain, check the source of this transmission. Ranger
[00:23:09] Unknown:
Corbin, this is Coincher White. Get your flight back to Stargazer and turn yourself over to security. You've got one hell of a lot of explaining to you.
[00:23:18] Unknown:
But the attack on Earth, there was a radio transmission. It tripped our fail safe system. We heard it on the other make up the same transmission here at ISA headquarters on Star Left.
[00:23:29] Unknown:
So here's the zodiac leader pull off major. The
[00:23:35] Unknown:
Major. How much convincing do you need? If you don't give the order to break off this attack, I will.
[00:23:42] Unknown:
Zodiac leader to Zodiac swipe. Return to base. Repeat. Return to
[00:23:51] Unknown:
direction on the starboard thrusters. We've lost the automatic guidance circuits. Switch to manual. Attitude gyros are gone. Tow pilot to crew, get to your crash positions.
[00:24:04] Unknown:
We're going in.
[00:24:21] Unknown:
We don't know if anyone survived, doctor Cassidy. They were hit at a relatively low altitude and went down about two kilometers away from the domes.
[00:24:31] Unknown:
Alright. Your orders are to come directly to StarLab. Commissioner White's on his way up. Roger
[00:24:37] Unknown:
StarLab. Zodiac six out.
[00:24:43] Unknown:
I've finished analyzing the tape Jerry made during the pulsar flash, Mara. The frequency of the predominant voices and the frequency of the fail safe override are exactly the same. 880 kilohertz.
[00:24:55] Unknown:
But that's an exclusive ISA ISA frequency.
[00:24:58] Unknown:
It wasn't in 1938.
[00:25:01] Unknown:
'19 '30 '8? That's right.
[00:25:03] Unknown:
The voices were originally transmitted from the Earth in 1938.
[00:25:07] Unknown:
What was there about the voices that caused Major Corbin to do what he did?
[00:25:11] Unknown:
Come on. I'll play the tape for you.
[00:25:27] Unknown:
Whatever possessed you to do this thing, Major Corbin? Three men killed in the crash of your ship. Nine others seriously harmed. Captain Vogel critically injured. Twenty Turalyon flyers lost.
[00:25:42] Unknown:
The transmission. We thought you were attacking the Earth. We I did what I thought was right.
[00:25:52] Unknown:
Did you contact StarLab for confirmation? Did you contact commissioner White? We couldn't reach them. Then why didn't you contact us?
[00:26:01] Unknown:
It never occurred to me.
[00:26:03] Unknown:
Military uniforms are unfortunate things, Major. So very little does occur to the ambitious patriots' weather.
[00:26:16] Unknown:
Clark Sothos.
[00:26:17] Unknown:
Yes, Senthava?
[00:26:18] Unknown:
A transmission from Commissioner White has come through. He wants to talk to you. Srin Bhava, your eyes,
[00:26:28] Unknown:
is there something else?
[00:26:32] Unknown:
There was nothing our physicians could do. Captain Vogel just
