In this thrilling episode of Alien Worlds, we continue the saga of STARLab, which finds itself under attack by the alien ship commanded by Stygos, the high priest of the Trel. The Trel, a race of shadow beings, are in search of their lost symbol of redemption, the ancient black crystal gargoyle known as Narl. As tensions rise, Mora is temporarily blinded by the alien's subzero lightning, but hope arrives in the form of the deatoms from the star city of Imbria. Led by Phaedra, the sky priestess, the deatoms offer to restore Mora's sight and invite her to their city, revealing their own tragic history with the Trel.
Meanwhile, on Earth, a power struggle unfolds at the International Space Authority laboratory as ISA Commissioner White and Julian Benedict clash over the possession of the Trel statue. As the Trel ship approaches Earth, a daring plan is set in motion to prevent Stygos from reclaiming Narl. With the help of the deatoms' advanced technology, a light storm is unleashed to destroy the Trel ship, ensuring the safety of both STARLab and Imbria. As the episode concludes, the dream city of Imbria drifts away, leaving behind a promise of healing and hope for the future.

High above the windy blue skies of Earth, slowly rotating at the edge of deep space, is the Arthur c. Clark Astronomical Observatory, STARLab. Last week's episode continued with an attack on STARLab by an alien ship commanded by Stygos, high priest of the Trel. A race of bloodless shadow beings searching for their lost symbol of redemption. An ancient black crystal gargoyle.
[00:00:56] Unknown:
Narl is his rightful name. We have placed him to your moon. We know his presence has graced the machine you live in. Where is he?
[00:01:06] Unknown:
I don't know.
[00:01:10] Unknown:
Suffer the darkness, Hunter, you do.
[00:01:16] Unknown:
Suddenly, a burst of color erupts from the screen displaying the alien ship. Filaments of subzero lightning lash out and curl around Mora, freezing her in a painful web of cold crawling electricity. When the lashing ribbons of lightning finally release her, Mora staggers back and falls.
[00:01:44] Unknown:
I'm blind.
[00:01:47] Unknown:
Your blindness is just a warning, Mora. How long it lasts depends upon how soon you tell me where Knarl is.
[00:01:59] Unknown:
But before Stygos can press his attack, a new image appears on a second scanner screen.
[00:02:05] Unknown:
What is it? Magnify it, Cherry. My god. It's a city.
[00:02:13] Unknown:
A floating city. This is doctor Mara Cassidy. Would you please identify yourself?
[00:02:21] Unknown:
We are the deatoms, Mara, and we inhabit the star city of Imbria. I am Phaedra, sky priestess of the before time. We know your machine has experienced an encounter with the trail. Did Stygos harm you? Yes. He did. I'm blind. Then it will be my pleasure to restore your sight. We have no vehicles of our own, so transport yourself here to Imbrium. A projection of light will guide you.
[00:03:00] Unknown:
Meanwhile, at the International Space Authority laboratory on Earth, ISA Commissioner White and Julian Benedict, head of the World Council's experimental weapons section, are at odds over which of their two organizations should have possession of the trail statue.
[00:03:17] Unknown:
Do you know what this is, Matthew? It's a world council directive signed by the secretary ordering you to release the statue to my section.
[00:03:27] Unknown:
Can I see that directive? Thanks. You'll have to excuse me now, Julian. I have things to do. And stay away from my people. I've already given them orders not to cooperate with you. As far as you're concerned, I'm the ISA, and this is between us.
[00:03:47] Unknown:
What is this, Matthew? Some kind of conspiracy?
[00:03:52] Unknown:
Yes. It is, Julian. A conspiracy of my values against yours.
[00:04:06] Unknown:
StarLab.
[00:04:10] Unknown:
Meanwhile, the trail ship guided by an earlier radio transmission from the giant space station enters Earth's atmosphere and moves toward the ISA laboratory. I sense that you are restless now, but be patient. Your deliverance is at hand. And now, light storm, the conclusion of the ISA conspiracy on alien worlds.
[00:04:59] Unknown:
Where are we now, buddy? How close? We're 1,700
[00:05:03] Unknown:
meters away, Mora.
[00:05:05] Unknown:
There's the beam, bright and beautiful.
[00:05:10] Unknown:
Who is with you, Mora?
[00:05:12] Unknown:
Three friends, Jon, Buddy, and Diana.
[00:05:15] Unknown:
Who is your pilot? I am Phaedra, a Jon.
[00:05:19] Unknown:
Just a moment. Jon, our scan tracings indicate that your propellant emits a lethal mist. Will you please terminate your engines? Our atmosphere is delicate.
[00:05:32] Unknown:
If I shut down the thrusters, we won't be able to maneuver.
[00:05:36] Unknown:
The light will control your vehicle and guide it safely down.
[00:05:41] Unknown:
Alright. Shut them down,
[00:05:47] Unknown:
buddy.
[00:05:52] Unknown:
World Council Communications to ISA.
[00:05:55] Unknown:
This is the ISA. Go ahead.
[00:05:58] Unknown:
Has mister Julian Benedict still there? Secretary Stone is returning his call.
[00:06:03] Unknown:
Yes. He is. He's in the laboratory complex. Standby, please. Mister Benedict, I have secretary Stone on the line.
[00:06:10] Unknown:
I'd like to speak to him privately, if that's possible.
[00:06:14] Unknown:
Conference Room 6 is empty. Thank you.
[00:06:25] Unknown:
Mister secretary, commissioner White ignored your directive, tore it up as a matter of fact. Well, if I had his sense of ethics, I probably would have done the same.
[00:06:35] Unknown:
What do you mean? I've had some serious second thoughts about this whole thing, Julian. I think we'll let the matter of the statue rest until the president and vice president get back from Draconia.
[00:06:46] Unknown:
But mister secretary Well, is there anything else, Julian?
[00:06:51] Unknown:
No, sir. Thank you. You can let it rest if you want to, but I can't.
[00:07:03] Unknown:
Julian Benedict, A man slowly becoming obsolete in a universe that will soon have no use for his services. A weapons maker on the verge of taking his first desperate step into an alien world.
[00:07:31] Unknown:
Alien
[00:07:34] Unknown:
worlds continues. Julian Benedict sits alone in Conference Room 6 at the ISA Earth laboratory, Silent, sad, filled with resentment. The experimental weapon section he heads up is being phased out by the world council. An attempt to gain control of the Trel statue and use its energy in a final desperate attempt to prove his usefulness has failed.
[00:08:05] Unknown:
Damn. Damn. It seems your political system has little use for you, Julian Benedict. Who's there? I am Stygos, High Priest of the Trell.
[00:08:21] Unknown:
What are you doing on this channel? It's a top priority frequency.
[00:08:26] Unknown:
We have access to whatever frequencies we choose.
[00:08:29] Unknown:
Where are you? Hiding
[00:08:33] Unknown:
in the darkness above.
[00:08:36] Unknown:
How did your ship get past our defense scanners?
[00:08:39] Unknown:
That's of no importance
[00:08:41] Unknown:
now. What is that? What do you want?
[00:08:45] Unknown:
What do you want? The icon of Narl.
[00:08:49] Unknown:
Is it yours?
[00:08:51] Unknown:
Ten thousand millennia passed, Our planet was visited by a nameless race of darkling beings with magnificent wings and eyes of fire. We were without intellect then. Nothing more than restless shadows, hiding in the sea, crawling out at night to feed off the night mists. The Darkling Priests gave us the gift of Narl, And through him flowed the powers of redemption that transformed us. Then, a nomadic steelership came down from the air and took Narl away, thinking he was a construct of a precious gem called Nightstone. We know now that the steelership malfunctioned, causing it to impact on your moon.
The violators gilded dome is protection from the lunar gold, but they made the mistake of taking Narl into the shelter with them.
[00:09:55] Unknown:
How did you know he'd been found?
[00:09:57] Unknown:
Our parsec scanners have been probing the universe for centuries. Do you have access to Gnarl?
[00:10:06] Unknown:
Why don't you just take him?
[00:10:08] Unknown:
That was our intention. But now we know the chamber that imprisons him is small. If we destroy it, Gnarl may be harmed.
[00:10:18] Unknown:
Suppose I do have access to Gnarl. So what?
[00:10:25] Unknown:
Free him, and I'll give you the secret of his power.
[00:10:31] Unknown:
It'll take time. I understand.
[00:10:37] Unknown:
ISA Communications.
[00:10:39] Unknown:
Please put me through to the Security Bureau in my section. Right away, mister Benedict.
[00:10:44] Unknown:
Security.
[00:10:45] Unknown:
This is Julian Benedict. Find Major Ripley and tell him to meet me in my office in fifteen minutes.
[00:10:59] Unknown:
Starlight control. This is ISA priority shuttle one requesting docking coordinates.
[00:11:03] Unknown:
Roger shuttle one. What's your ETA?
[00:11:06] Unknown:
Ten minutes thirty seconds.
[00:11:08] Unknown:
Ten plus thirty. Roger, your coordinates are 60 at the Vector 448, Docking Bay 9. Roger.
[00:11:19] Unknown:
Oh, Jerry, this is commissioner White. Is Mara there?
[00:11:23] Unknown:
Mara? Oh, no. Didn't she talk to to you? Well, it was a short conversation. An alien ship attacked us about an hour ago. Mora was blinded.
[00:11:36] Unknown:
Blinded? Well, how is she?
[00:11:39] Unknown:
I don't know. She's not here. Where is she? Von Embria, the diaton city that's floating just about two kilometers off StarLab.
[00:12:00] Unknown:
Welcome to Imbria, Mora, Phaedra.
[00:12:04] Unknown:
You don't know how glad I am to be here.
[00:12:08] Unknown:
I'm Diana, Phaedra.
[00:12:10] Unknown:
This is Jon.
[00:12:11] Unknown:
Phaedra?
[00:12:12] Unknown:
And this is Buddy.
[00:12:14] Unknown:
Wow.
[00:12:15] Unknown:
Are you ready, Mora?
[00:12:17] Unknown:
I yes. I am. You can't imagine what it's like being blind.
[00:12:22] Unknown:
Yes. I can, Mora. I'm blind. Wow. I'm sorry. All dear Tom's are blind. It's our legacy. But how can you see us?
[00:12:32] Unknown:
How did you manage to build this city?
[00:12:35] Unknown:
I sense you as clearly as if I had sight, Diana. And as for Imbria, it was dreamed into existence.
[00:12:45] Unknown:
Dreamed? No.
[00:12:49] Unknown:
When? During the final century of the before time, an age of radiance unified the minds of all dear tongues and transformed us into Shiva, the dreamer who never awakes.
[00:13:04] Unknown:
When did the sage of Virgins end?
[00:13:07] Unknown:
It ended with the coming of the Trell. They burned our fields and forests with terrible fire weapons. They suffocated our cities and canals with poison mist. 2,000 legions of trail warriors. And before they went away, they blinded all of us. Oh, Phaedra. Why did they do that? The icon of their god had been stolen.
[00:13:36] Unknown:
They were angry. That damn statue again. Did they think you'd taken it? No.
[00:13:42] Unknown:
We were made to suffer their rage because we represented everything Naul had taught them to hate.
[00:13:48] Unknown:
Why didn't they destroy this city?
[00:13:51] Unknown:
It was orbiting behind one of our moons. Those of us who survived the trial invasion came here when we realized we'd never be able to rebuild our planet. Not even by dreaming? A dream can't always change what is Mora, but it can create what isn't.
[00:14:21] Unknown:
I have taken control of the STAR Lab.
[00:14:23] Unknown:
STAR Lab. Go ahead.
[00:14:25] Unknown:
Has commissioner White arrived here? It's urgent.
[00:14:28] Unknown:
I'm right here. What's the problem?
[00:14:31] Unknown:
Security police unit from the experimental weapons section is in the laboratory. They say they have orders to take the statue.
[00:14:37] Unknown:
Damn it, Julian. Who's the officer in charge?
[00:14:41] Unknown:
Major Ripley.
[00:14:43] Unknown:
Call the lab. Tell Ripley if he doesn't wanna spend the next ten years in Jastrow Prison, he better talk to me.
[00:14:57] Unknown:
Where are we, Phaedra?
[00:14:59] Unknown:
The Synergy team. Who else is here? Hold out your hands. Oh, Who are you? This is Ayleth, the Avatar of Imbria.
[00:15:10] Unknown:
Welcome to our dream, Mora. Hello. There's a recliner in front of you, Mora. Turn and lie down on it. I am going to place three small synergy prisms on your forehead now. Oh,
[00:15:30] Unknown:
it's so warm.
[00:15:32] Unknown:
In a moment, you'll hear the sound of a sky mantra. The music we use to heal those outside the dream. When the music begins, think only of your eyes and how they looked out upon the various dimensions of your life.
[00:16:00] Unknown:
I see red, yellow,
[00:16:27] Unknown:
What's going on? Hold on. What happened? I can see.
[00:16:31] Unknown:
I can see. Thank god. When we when we heard you scream, we didn't know what to think. No. I wasn't afraid, but everything everything, it was so beautiful. There's just no fear. God, I thought I died.
[00:17:02] Unknown:
If you would like to make direct contact with alien worlds, get a pencil and paper ready, and I'll have our star system coordinates for you at the end of the program. Alien worlds continues. Deep within the star city of Embraer, Mora lies sleeping, exhausted by the Diatan sky mantra ritual, which has not only restored her sight, but for one fantastic moment, has opened her mind to eternity. Meanwhile, Aleph has led John and Buddy back to the star lab shuttle, which sits on an illuminated white crystal platform in the center of Embria.
Inside the shuttle, John contacts Commissioner White on STAR Lab and learns what is taking place at the ISA laboratory on Earth.
[00:18:03] Unknown:
How did you find out about Stygos and Benefit, Commissioner?
[00:18:06] Unknown:
An ISA communications technician was filing the lab's hourly intercom recordings and came across their conversation.
[00:18:14] Unknown:
Well, where's Benedict now?
[00:18:16] Unknown:
An ISA security unit arrested him fifteen minutes ago, Ripley 2.
[00:18:22] Unknown:
What's the present situation?
[00:18:24] Unknown:
Well, Stygus will probably move against the laboratory when he doesn't hear from Benedict again.
[00:18:30] Unknown:
John, standby, commissioner. Yes. What is it, Ayla? The vault where Nihil is. Do you know its precise latitude and longitude? Commissioner White does. Why?
[00:18:41] Unknown:
We're going to take possession of Narl before Stygos does.
[00:18:52] Unknown:
Laura. Hi, Laura. How are you feeling? I feel wonderful.
[00:18:56] Unknown:
What's going on? Why are you two wearing your pressure suits? Well, we just talked to commissioner White. Stygos is about that far away from attacking the ISA lab.
[00:19:06] Unknown:
We're going down for the statue. You'll never make it in time. Earth's an hour away by shuttle. We're not going by shuttle.
[00:19:12] Unknown:
We're going by light. Teleportation.
[00:19:23] Unknown:
John,
[00:19:24] Unknown:
buddy, secure your helmets. This isn't gonna hurt, is it?
[00:19:32] Unknown:
I think you'll find it a rather pleasant experience, buddy.
[00:19:38] Unknown:
Padra, lower the
[00:19:42] Unknown:
cylinders. The dematerialization thresholds have integrated Alif.
[00:19:47] Unknown:
Purge the cylinders.
[00:19:54] Unknown:
It really happened, Skipper.
[00:19:57] Unknown:
We're here. God. This thing is heavy.
[00:20:03] Unknown:
Come on. Let's get a harness around it so we
[00:20:06] Unknown:
can pick it up. Okay. Let's let's pick it up. Here we go.
[00:20:17] Unknown:
Raise the cylinders,
[00:20:21] Unknown:
Phaedra. Where is it? What happened? Where's the statue? Oh, no.
[00:20:26] Unknown:
We lost it. Phaedra.
[00:20:29] Unknown:
Naul was too powerful. He rejected the translocation process just beyond the Earth's atmosphere. Oh, no.
[00:20:47] Unknown:
Narl is free. A diaton translocation being tried to take him, though he escaped. Narl. Take him aboard and bring him to me, then set a course for Embraer.
[00:21:08] Unknown:
The trail ship is at 90 par spans in closing, Edith. The scan tracers acknowledge that Narl is aboard.
[00:21:16] Unknown:
What can we do here?
[00:21:18] Unknown:
Begin the light storm cycle, Phaedra.
[00:21:22] Unknown:
What's going on?
[00:21:24] Unknown:
Embraer is now being enclosed by an aurora sphere of ionized winds, invisible to the trail sensors. As their ship penetrates this enclosure, their force field will be temporarily neutralized. At that moment, Phaedra will flood the aurorosphere with liquid light. The ensuing photon storm will destroy it.
[00:21:48] Unknown:
The trail ship is now 10 power spans and closing. Five power spans and closing. Barrier penetration.
[00:22:02] Unknown:
Naul is free.
[00:22:06] Unknown:
Naul is free.
[00:22:10] Unknown:
Phaedra, the liquid light injectors.
[00:22:27] Unknown:
A blinding glance of light. A final scream. And the huge Trel insect ship convulses and disintegrates. Its luminous fragments growing cold and dark as they pass like demon whispers into the deafening silence of the void.
[00:22:56] Unknown:
Phaedra, are you going to guide us away from the city with another light projection? Yeah. I'm really into riding light beams. You may use your engines, John. We'll neutralize the exhaust vapors when we decontaminate the residue of the trail ship.
[00:23:08] Unknown:
Thank you, Friedrich. Thank you for everything you're doing. Goodbye. Goodbye, David. Goodbye, David. Goodbye, David. Bye. Bye.
[00:23:22] Unknown:
You didn't tell them, did you?
[00:23:24] Unknown:
I saw no reason. If they knew that we alone survived the trail invasion, and that our blindness makes the generation of life impossible, impossible, it would only make them sad. But we'll heal ourselves in time. And then, perhaps, when we see them again, there will be more to the dream than just you and me.
[00:23:51] Unknown:
