In this thrilling episode of Alien Worlds, we journey to the Arthur C. Clarke Astronomical Observatory, STARLab, where research director Mora Cassidy and her team oversee the universe's vast expanse. This week, captains John Graden and Buddy Griff embark on a groundbreaking mission aboard the Hyperion, a specially modified spacecraft designed for super light travel. As they push the boundaries of speed, they find themselves in a parallel universe on the water world of Secutia, where they must help the inhabitants of the island Edusa restore balance by recovering a sacred altar from the rival island of Kodor.
As the Hyperion faces technical challenges, the crew navigates the complexities of this new world, encountering the warlord Heiko of Kodor, who seeks ultimate power. With the guidance of astrophysicist Tom Liu Ping, who has a personal connection to this universe, the team must use their advanced technology and wits to aid the people of Edusa. Will they succeed in their mission and return safely to STARLab, or will they become permanent residents of this alien world? Tune in to find out in part one of "The Infinity Factor."

And now, Peter Paul Mounds, Almond Joy, and Cadbury chocolate bars presents Alien Worlds. Slowly rotating at the edge of deep space, 1,000 kilometers beyond the atmosphere of twenty first century Earth, is the Arthur C. Clarke Astronomical Observatory, STARLab. Here, STARLab research director, Mora Cassidy, along with scientists and technicians of the International Space Authority, watch over the countless suns, planets, and star systems that fill the universe. This week, space exploration team captains John Grademan and Buddy Griff are hurled from the outer boundaries of space into the subatomic light and shadow of a world within a world.
As the Infinity Factor Part one embraces the threshold of the unknown on Alien World. Astrophysicist Tom Liu Ping has been performing experimental tests in super light travel, moving at velocities beyond the speed of light. The final step in a series of tests is now at hand. A specially modified ISA Delta series craft, the Hyperion, will be piloted by John Graden and Buddy Griff, at speeds traveled before only by an infinity of light.
[00:02:29] Unknown:
Starlab control. This is Tom routing towards Hyperion.
[00:02:34] Unknown:
This is Starlab. Go ahead Hyperion.
[00:02:37] Unknown:
I just asked to tell me in three. I know behind schedule. Jay, I've got a revised ETA.
[00:02:44] Unknown:
Any problem, Tom?
[00:02:46] Unknown:
No problem. It's just that I am getting wrong
[00:02:50] Unknown:
what's your new ETA, Tom?
[00:02:53] Unknown:
Fifteen minutes twenty nine seconds.
[00:02:55] Unknown:
Roger, I copy 15Plus20Niner. Your docking orbit insertion coordinates are 614 at Subvector Alpha Docking Bay 3. Starlab clear.
[00:03:21] Unknown:
When did Tom repeat a laugh, Mara? He got in at o three hundred, John. He was late leaving Timmy in three, that's why we rescheduled the briefing. Here's his room. He should be ready by now. Oh, Tom, excuse us. I I really didn't realize that you It's okay. Come on in, Mora. I was just finishing my Tai Chi exercises.
[00:03:42] Unknown:
Oh.
[00:03:43] Unknown:
Ah, Captain Greedon. So good to meet you in person after all the visual communication. Yes. Hello, Tom. Nice to see you. Tai Chi, Mhmm. Sort of looks like slow motion karate. Yes. Actually, it's more meditation than martial art.
[00:03:59] Unknown:
Well, keeping in shape out here is a good idea. I do a little Hatha yoga myself.
[00:04:03] Unknown:
Very good model. Very good. Well, what's our program? I understand the briefing was reschedule. Yes. We're meeting at thirteen hundred hours in Room 2 on Level 8 Conference Center. Alright. I'll meet you there in a few minutes. Now this diagram on Screen 6 shows the final modifications we've made on the Hyperion's drive system. Well, looks like you've practically rebuilt the entire Delta series propulsion system. Yes. That's right, buddy.
[00:04:41] Unknown:
But the key to super right velocity is the ion drive we've installed just behind the Star Smith parsec accelerator.
[00:04:50] Unknown:
What effect will super light walk through have on our communication systems?
[00:04:54] Unknown:
In my preliminary tests, I experienced plasma sheath buildup that caused a temporary communications
[00:05:02] Unknown:
blackout. Is there any way we can avoid the blackout?
[00:05:05] Unknown:
No. But even though our telemetry signals will be delayed, when we reach super right speed, you'll be able to monitor our shadow image on the screen. But remember, the scanning brief will show where we were, not where we are. At warp speed, we'll actually surpass the frequency right. Any final questions? No. No. Let's go. Okay. Buddy, John, let's get our gear and prepare to launch.
[00:05:45] Unknown:
Starlab control to Hyperion.
[00:05:47] Unknown:
This is the Hyperion. Go ahead, Mara.
[00:05:50] Unknown:
Micron confirms your calculation for reaching super light critical at vector zero nine eight.
[00:05:55] Unknown:
Zero nine eight. Roger. Thanks, Maura.
[00:05:59] Unknown:
Good luck with the test, and, try not to miss a test. Don't worry. We won't, Maura.
[00:06:04] Unknown:
Okay, buddy. Let's do it. Interface all computer functions. We have a positive decoder interlock on all data terminals. Manual launch functions are canceled. Real time launch date is fifteen seconds and counting.
[00:06:23] Unknown:
Okay, Vyterion. Get your clearance launch.
[00:06:26] Unknown:
Roger Starlight. Okay. Let's see what this baby can do.
[00:06:39] Unknown:
Alien worlds will continue.
[00:06:45] Unknown:
Oh, baby. I'm confessing. This man's gotta fickle away. Now maybe you won't like it much, but to explain, I gotta say.
[00:07:58] Unknown:
Alien Worlds continues. After months of planning and experimenting on Timian three, astrophysicist Tom Liu Ping arrives at StarLab in preparation for the final phase of tests into super light speed travel. Assisting in the tests and piloting the modified Delta series spacecraft, Hyperion, are captains John Graden and Buddy Griff. As the experimental vessel jets away from StarLab, research director Mara Cassidy prepares the monitoring procedure that will track the Hyperion telemetry in progress during the multiple light speed flight.
[00:08:44] Unknown:
Oh, hi, Laura. Hi, Jerry. How's it going? Well, they've made a couple of orbits at light speed one to check the systems. We're monitoring them on screen four.
[00:08:53] Unknown:
Doctor Cassidy, this is Barbara spectral analysis. Our monitoring is beginning to show telemetry distortion coming back from the Hyperion. What's their position, Barbara? We're tracking them in final orbit prior to the superlight entry at sub vector zero nine six. Okay. Thanks, Barbara. Jerry, open a channel to the Hyperion.
[00:09:16] Unknown:
This is star lab to Hyperion. Over.
[00:09:19] Unknown:
This is the Hyperion, DermLab. I can barely receive Roger.
[00:09:24] Unknown:
Hold on a minute, John. How's the signal now, John? Any better?
[00:09:31] Unknown:
Sorry.
[00:09:33] Unknown:
Tom, how's the ion drive functioning?
[00:09:52] Unknown:
Jerry, can't you do anything about the transmission? I don't know where all the hash is coming from, but there's some kind of interference. But the best we can do is keep the shadow blip on the screen.
[00:10:01] Unknown:
Alright. And that won't help us much communications wise. Doctor Cassidy, Barbara again. The mass proximity indicator registers radical shift in the molecular density level of the Hyperion's hull. Start an MPI printout recording, Barbara.
[00:10:17] Unknown:
Mara, the Hyperion shadow blip has just disappeared from the screen, and they've vanished from all our tracking instruments. Jeez. What kind of light show was that? Scanners indicate we've walked through some kind of photon barrier. Damage report, buddy. The surge buffers between the ion drive and the parsec accelerator have shifted 110 degrees out of phase, and we've got heavy vibration and thermal overload on engine number two. Reduce power, buddy. Correct to a pitch of three one two and fire your thruster with a point five vertical correction. Let's see if we can stabilize it. Alright, Skip. She's coming around, Skip.
Where the devil are we? Let me check the translocator beacon. That's pretty strange. What is it, buddy?
[00:11:16] Unknown:
The beacon draws a blank.
[00:11:19] Unknown:
And celestial guidance doesn't respond either. It's as if we were in completely uncharted space. Try a long range scan. I don't think that would be necessary. You'll find an Earth atmosphere planet at the vector six five nine a mark five. Where did you come up with those coordinates? I I can't tell you more than that. Trust me. Program the coordinates on your scene. Listen, Tom. If you know something we don't, you'd better come up with it right now. It wasn't supposed to happen like this. Tom, out with it. Yeah. Come on, man. Alright.
About six months ago, I made breakthrough in my experiments. What kind of a breakthrough? I discovered a parallel universe during my first super right walk through test in Delta five. Terrific. Is that where we are now? Yes. What about the planet you just mentioned? It's a water world called Asakosha. The people of the planet live on two irons. I've made contact with one of the irons called Adusa.
[00:12:30] Unknown:
What I found was a world out of balance.
[00:12:34] Unknown:
Out of balance? What do you mean? The Circosians had an ion generator that kept the people of the planet in balance physically and emotionally. They regarded this this generator as some kind of holy shrine. These are two piece interlocking cylinder, called the altar of light and dark. So what caused the imbalance? The people from the other island, Khudor, broke into the shrine two years ago and stole half of the altar. As a result, the iron level of the atmosphere has shifted. This shift caused the people of Medusa to become weak and
[00:13:13] Unknown:
passive, while those of Kudor become strong and aggressive. How did you get involved? Why did you get involved?
[00:13:21] Unknown:
It was my intention to return to the planet after we had completed these tests and leave my ion generator with the people of Vaduzar so they could restore their physical and emotional balance. But now the generator seems to have malfunctioned.
[00:13:38] Unknown:
I don't know what to do.
[00:13:49] Unknown:
Jerry, start cross checking the Hyperion's last known coordinates from the MPI graph. Okay, Mora.
[00:13:54] Unknown:
Star lamp is echo leader. Roger echo leader, go ahead.
[00:13:58] Unknown:
We've completed our base new virtual reconnaissance. There's not a tree behind train anywhere.
[00:14:04] Unknown:
No debris? No sign of wreckage?
[00:14:07] Unknown:
No. Apparently she didn't break up. There's nothing here.
[00:14:12] Unknown:
Alright, echo leader. Thanks. Return to base.
[00:14:16] Unknown:
Roger. Starlab. Echo leader on the return.
[00:14:19] Unknown:
Starlab clear.
[00:14:21] Unknown:
What could have happened to them? Even at light speed, spacecraft don't just disappear.
[00:14:35] Unknown:
Buddy, how's number two engine holding up? Thermal overload is critical, Skip. Okay. Shut it down. We're gonna have to put it in the water. Okay, Skip. We're on descent. A thousand meters to impact. 500 meters. Okay. Hold on. Here we go. Oh, my head. Are you okay, buddy?
[00:15:11] Unknown:
Yeah. Yeah. I'll be okay.
[00:15:12] Unknown:
Just give me a couple of minutes. I wonder if the ship sustain any serious damage. I think we're okay. The flotation collar inflated on impact. I don't see any structural damage. Open the hatch, Tom. Let's see where we are.
[00:15:28] Unknown:
You see anything? Yes. A small boat approaching.
[00:15:36] Unknown:
It's ready coming on the road gonsho. Friendly as I hope. Yes. They're the ones from Medusa I told you about.
[00:15:45] Unknown:
Ready coming. Li Ping,
[00:15:48] Unknown:
you did come back.
[00:15:53] Unknown:
Thank god you found us and not the raiders of Kudor. You brought others. Yes, Rod Concho. This, here is John Graydon. Hello? Anna, Where is the mate here?
[00:16:07] Unknown:
You you come with us. We take you to a dozer.
[00:16:20] Unknown:
Why did the people from Kodor steal the beacon device from the sacred altar?
[00:16:25] Unknown:
Warlord Hiko sought to gain control over the two islands. To him, possession of the altar represented ultimate power. But he did not realize the far reaching effect this would have. With each new tide, his people grew more hostile and aggressive. That is why the two halves of the shrine must be restored. If not, all the people on Secusha will eventually die because of this imbalance.
[00:17:01] Unknown:
Will you help us with this task?
[00:17:04] Unknown:
Buddy, what do you think? Well, we're here. We might as well see what we can do. Alright then. Looks like we're going to Kotor. Where is Kotor?
[00:17:16] Unknown:
It is 26 miles across the sea.
[00:17:21] Unknown:
The four preps in 1958.
[00:17:26] Unknown:
What does he mean?
[00:17:27] Unknown:
Never mind. It's just Buddy's way of breaking the tension.
[00:17:36] Unknown:
Alien worlds will continue. From Peter Paul.
[00:18:21] Unknown:
From Peter Paul.
[00:18:58] Unknown:
Alien Worlds continues. Orbiting above the emerald green water world of Secutia, the Hyperion develops an engine malfunction, forcing John Graden to ditch the ship in the sea. Ten minutes later, John, Buddy, and Tommy Liu Ping are rescued, and taken to the nearby island of Edusa. Here, Lady Cammy and Lord Gunshow convince them to help Edusa recover a sacred altar from the nearby enemy island of Kodor. Meanwhile, on Kodor, Fleet Officer Sora enters the Imperial Throne Room with a message for Heiko, Kador's ruling warlord.
[00:19:52] Unknown:
Lord Heiko. Alien sky ship, fallen waters near Atusa. Oh, skyship? Oh, common, Othora. You know that such things exist only in Regent. Or perhaps you have had a vision. Then it is vision I not see alone. Every watchtower on Windward Side Of Koldor see also. Shared visions are not uncommon, Sohra. Aye? How are you? Have you consulted the the Oracle for an explanation of this this phenomenon? I need not consult Oracle, my lord. I need only consult telescope. Skyship still float in waters, Neratulsa. Not possible. Step to window, my lord. You see? Here. Take telescope.
How they do it, Asora? My lord? Gon show and already tell me, how is it that they have the power to call the Skydots into their service? How I should know, Lord Heiko. Lord, you hear how I should do? Before night time. Lord Heiko.
[00:21:33] Unknown:
Mora must be going crazy wondering what's happened to us. Yeah. Dear Mora, we're somewhere in a parallel universe. The weather is overcast, and so are we. Your pals, Buddy and John. PS, help. Where's the post office, Gunshaw? I wanna get this off right away. What is your friend talking about, Tom? He's expressing dissatisfaction with our circumstances. Uh-huh. Can you blame him? No. I I suppose not. Look, Tom. We know that you know that you should have told us about all this before the Hyperion took off. So we're not gonna get too upset right now. But when we get back to StarLab, if we ever do, you'd better be prepared to run for your life. Alright?
[00:22:22] Unknown:
Alright. And thanks.
[00:22:28] Unknown:
Our ship is ready, my lord Ganshou.
[00:22:30] Unknown:
Wait a minute. I don't mind sailing into the valley of the shadow of death, but not in broad daylight.
[00:22:38] Unknown:
The sun sets quickly on twilight afternoons like these, buddy. It will be dark long before we sail.
[00:22:44] Unknown:
Cross your heart?
[00:22:46] Unknown:
My heart?
[00:22:48] Unknown:
That's just buddy's way of asking for reassurance, Cammy.
[00:22:52] Unknown:
Oh,
[00:22:54] Unknown:
yes, buddy. Cross my heart.
[00:22:57] Unknown:
Tom, where's the equipment you brought ashore from the Hyperion? Over here, John. Let's see. Two laser rifles, two hard beam photon crystals, five night vision helmets, a tool pack, and a hospital kit.
[00:23:18] Unknown:
Okay. Pass out the helmets, buddy. Right.
[00:23:22] Unknown:
What use are these helmets, John? The lens on top projects a type of light that can be seen only if you look through the helmet's faceplate.
[00:23:33] Unknown:
Then when we get to Koto, we will be able to see in the dark without those in the dark seeing us. Yes? Yes. That's right. Another miracle, a rare device. You you have so many. Are they endless?
[00:23:51] Unknown:
I hope not, Gansho. We're going to need every miracle we can get our hands on before this is over.
[00:23:58] Unknown:
The night tide cycle is beginning, my lord Gansho.
[00:24:01] Unknown:
Yes. Yes. It is time we sailed. Have you told Kiyatsu where we are going?
[00:24:08] Unknown:
Yes. He's been aboard the ship all afternoon charting our course. Who is Kiyatsu?
[00:24:15] Unknown:
He is our helmsman and navigator, Tom. He knows his waters better than anyone on a doozer.
[00:24:24] Unknown:
Okay. Let's get going.
[00:24:33] Unknown:
Sora, do you still have to massage the carrier about the brother this afternoon? I need lord Ako. Read it to me again. But lord Ako, I already need you dozen times. Please, Zora. If you wish to remain in the good graces of your imperial warlord, you will indulge him, not question him. Excellent point, Lord Heiko. My Lord Heiko, Khonshu, Kami, and three sky gods depart for Khoda on night time. Course I have chartered will take ship within 100 leagues of Pagoda Tower between islands. Your faithful servant, Kiazo. Good lord, Kiazo. He certainly does epitomize the word aspire, doesn't he? I he he he does indeed, my lord. I And what arrangements have been made to welcome our visitors from Adusa? But, lord, I call Tell me again, Sora.
I rubbed the image. It turns us up. 15 the Quartorian seeds galleys position in semicircle round Pagoda Tower. Oh. When Kiyatsu sail past tower, circle will close. Or Gongshu, Kami, and Skyguards will be taken prisoner. Lord Heiko. But then we will simply feed them to their cannibal ears. And when no trace of them remains, we will tell ourselves they never existed. After all, Sorrow, life must go on.
