The heart of the show was its musical backbone, provided by Foy Willing and The Riders of the Purple Sage. This group, formed in the mid-1930s, became synonymous with Western Swing—a lively fusion of country, jazz, and blues that was wildly popular in the 1940s. With members like Kenny Driver, Al Sloey, and Johnny Paul, their performances featured tight harmonies and upbeat rhythms, offering classics like “Cool Water” and “Tumbling Tumbleweeds” alongside original numbers.
